What a fantastic day you had Tim and a great video! We failed so miserably the next day, using exactly the same method in exactly the same location. No gulls to be seen (although a flight of around 100 cormorants flew over us); no fish rising and a squally cold wind buffeting our very slushy muddy bottomed boat around. I seem to remember you saying that Grafham fishing switches on and off like a light bulb. We always seem to go when the light bulb is off! Ah well, we'll return once again, but probably when conditions improve ... like there's some water in the reservoir!
Typical moody Grafham ! It had been so good for days I suppose it had to stop sometime . Leigh struggled to find any better fish just the stockies at the dam too ... Yes the mud is a shame but the fishery has very few options re boat launching , they almost shut the boats down completely . We should try and get a day in November and go for the shrimp feeders !
Great video and magnificent sport Tim, well in mate! I hope to head down from Scotland in a couple of weeks time and try the fry bashing. Keep up the great videos Tim. 👏👍😀🎣🐟
Well worth the journey . Lets hope they stay on the fry , its been a month now and theres a hell of a lot of shrimp in the water now ! .. Some fish though !
Hi Tim This was a great video, superb watching. Caught some good trout out there. I see you use quite a lot of wychwood gear in your videos, I’m looking to purchase a wychwood Little Dipper in #7 weight, but can’t find one anywhere. Hoping you could advise me on where I could find one. Cheers, keep them videos coming. Bob. Somerset. 👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
The little dipper is a very nice tip line that casts like a dream ! Looking at the stock sheets they are due back in at the very beginning of Feb so expect to see them back in the shops again very shortly after that . They are well worth waiting for . Thanks for watching the vids I am glad you enjoy them .
Yes . Its the most versatile line in the box ! I do of course have all the other lines and use them plenty but the floater is the fly anglers most used line .
I have fished both Mask and Corrib but it has always been at that buzzer / mayfly time of year . I would love to try these poppers in late summer / early autumn . I would say that this method would definitely work on wild browns . They are super aggressive and this is the perfect approach for them!
Plenty of lads come up from down your way mate . Its a shame but we have to travel for some good reservoir fishing now days . Its a 180 mile round trip for me too
Basically any strong forged hook in a size 4 . These are carp hooks , a drennan pattern thats been discontinued for some time . Your looking for a short shank , wide gape ..
@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 cheers Tim I jumped the gun a bit you changed rods half way through what was the first rod without the white above the handle cheers ps chunky fish lovely brown!
Brilliant video tim m8 been lookin forward to this one ur arm must be killing u after that shift 🤣 the brownie is a belter m8, stunning fish from grafham tails like spades on them all lol defo going to give this popper thing a try 🎣👌
Its best in the autumn when the fry are tightly shoaled and he fish are on them , but at the same time its a disturbance pattern .... and trout love a disturbance !
Excellent video Tim cracking fish 👌
Thanks mate . Had a lot of fun making this
By far the best way to catch trout from April to the end of October, exciting fishing 🎣, great video.
Great to see the fish in such good condition after the heat of the summer. Cheers for the video and well done to the pair of you.
They fare well at Grafham . Theres a lot of deep cool water for the fish to refuge in during the summer . Thanks for watching

Yes . Its the most versatile line in the box ! I do of course have all the other lines and use them plenty but the floater is the fly anglers most used line .
Awesome video Tim 👊👊👊

Great video really enjoyed it, have you ever tried this technique on a wild trout lake, corrib or mask?

What knots do you use for your tapered leader?
Just a simple 3 turn water knot mate and trim both ends ... bomb proof !

Another cracking video Tim, fantastic angling thanks for sharing. Does the popper fry only work this time of year?
Its best in the autumn when the fry are tightly shoaled and he fish are on them , but at the same time its a disturbance pattern .... and trout love a disturbance !
Hi have you tied that popper on utube? If not can you? Tight lines.
Yes the link is in the video or just do a search on the channel for popper fry 👍
