The booby works on trout anywhere in a lake. Washer line, deep off the bottom into a wind from a dam etc. Utah mountain lakes and lowland reservoirs where i live. A white uv booby at ice out in the spring for brook trout, rainbows and browns and tiger trout deep. at ice up a fluorescent orange booby or blob. Deadly.

My old manor! 'Stow fish are generally on daphnia and bloodworm all winter. So as Tim says - slow, deep, with some twitches thrown in and cast for the horizon.

Brilliant video Tim….nice to see some new content and another excellent method. I’ve just realised I’ve never really fished a Booby in the way they were designed to be fished…down deep. I only use them on a washing line on the point. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to give that technique a spin soon. 👏🎣

Hello Tim, My sister lives in London and every time I go up there, I threaten to fish Walthamstow, she lives in Sydenham, and my drive from Cardiff to Sydenham is 2.5 hours to the Hogarth roundabout and from there the next 20 odd miles can take three hours, so usually when I get up there, driving is the furthest thing from my mind. Incidentally, I like to fish Boobies in the winter I had a good bag the other day on one of my local water Ynys-y-fro reservoir single Booby on a short leader on a Di 3, hasn't got the depth of Walthamstow but I think I'll try a two fly set up on another one of my local waters, which is much deeper, Cymtillery Reservoir, I guess to fish two Boobies on a longish leader, you need good depth? Good luck with everything fella, your videos are very good.

Why is everything about fishing about nailing and killing everything in sight. Thats why fisheries are using barbless flies to give the trout a chance to fight another day

Beautiful banger there Tim! I tie and fish these weighted on up to size 8 curved nymph hooks deep in the high-elevation lakes here in Colorado...call 'em "Mega Scuds"...in amber/orange for the molters, tan and olive/grey. Thanks for the tie!
