- Ever want to have a bit more influence over how the AI plays? Whether its telling the AI who to attack, which units to make, and whether it's allowed to resign or not, you have more options than you probably realized.
List of commands (relevant taunt number in brackets)

Here's a little idea for a custom scenario, have two players command their ai-ally using taunts to defeat each other.
hmmmmm good idea but how about a 3v3?1v1 commanders

Oh god, this reminded me of one time I was playing AoE2 as a young lad.
I set up a custom scenario where I had two allies, but accidentally made them enemies with each other.
My stupid 8-year-old self then spent the next hour trying to use in-game chat to get my two allies to stop fighting.
Then my brother comes in, and says it's not working because I'm not typing in ye Olde English.
So of course I then start frantically typing
"PLEASETH STOPETH WHAT THOUST DOETH, THOU ART BOTH MINE FRIENDS"
I was not a very bright kid.

How long will a villager mine a Gold/stone... nothing map
Luyện Luyện I’d say SotL only need to change some numbers and do the same calculation again to get the result. Same for berries and forage bushes. The only thing that is a bit different is the sheep/goat/water buffaloes.
I never even knew I could affect the AI with taunts...
That’s… genuinely surprising. I had no idea they had this in the game. It makes me want to see a match between two people who both have a ‘pet’ AI teammate they ‘control’.
That intro never gets old.
Learned some commands a few days ago when i had enough of AI goofing around. At one point the old AI ally apparently had its population limit (200) filled with villagers only. Was wondering why it didn't attack (finish off) anyone even after several "31" commands.

Best steam mod I've ever downloaded was the Spirit of the Law video intro music playing during the game summary after a victory. Never made winning so glorious!
This was super informative! I didn’t know the AI had this capability of interaction with the player.
Good to see the other ai taunts that we can do that we usually avoid checking out on our own especially since some of us play a lot of custom maps instead of random maps and campaigns.

I am playing Age of Empires 2 for the first time properly, its 4th day today, and I am really glad that I found your video about commands! I played it on Windows XP 2008ish, and I uninstalled it on the first match since i didn't like historic games, I was Warcraft III fan back then. Thanks again for this video and keep up the good work!

I’ve played this game for so long, and I honestly had no idea about any of this besides the food please and crap.
The thing I love about this channel is,it aint afraid to play 20 minutes to give us a ww2 clip of maybe 5 seconds. the amount of effort put in these vids are amazing

I really like your AOE2 vids, and that you have a good intro song - beats some of the annoying intros out there. I will say that the audio is very low, and can be easily corrected using a limiter. Thanks for posting :-)

With the extra resources commands practically never working, I never looked into the higher numbered commands, but definitely will check them out.
You should do one for DE version. Specifically, the campaigns to see how each respond.
It'd be cool to see an updated version of this video for Definitive Edition if there is anything new.

Okay but as someone who is really bad at this game the taunt that goes "you played two hours to die like this" has always spoken to me on almost a spiritual level.
So many campaign missions where I think I'm doing good to be swept away in the late game!

As far as I know, he does not organize community games.
if anyone wants difficulty to go along with the 200 command, try playing against the AI with instant build cheat on. since the ai also gets it youll get an opponent going at fast forward.
if you can keep up with the AI in instant build mode then you can consider yourself a god. (or maybe i just really suck)
Interestingly the AI in AOE3 has many similar commands. And is customizable in game sessions thorugh commands
And it is more badass and literally taunts the player at times.
Not to mention their resignation quotes are so dignified.
@@anirudhviswanathan3986 In AOM the AI can decide to retreat from battles they iniciated with awesome quotes as well :D
Type 249 and your AI allies will send you a report of how many of each rss they have on hand and what's their max population at that time. Pretty useful to monitorate who needs what before it gets critical.

I wish I knew about the AI resigning trick before... I vaguely remember trying to make all kinds of wacky scenarios which the AI had no idea what I was wanting it to do and would just randomly resign.

Taunts are OP. Just spam them in a waiting interface (cuz is laggy game) and Boom. No more desync.
@Francisco Sumuel It works in most times when someone is lagging and sometimes when is near to desync.

This is just a myth. Spamming taunts does nothing against desyncs, and it's just down to luck+confirmation bias.
Fairly sure if you just type into chat something like "build a market" the AI will immediately build one. (HD Steam version)
Just had to check to make sure it wasn't the 1st of April and that the monk rush command wasnt a joke
We need a tournament where it's 2v2 but with 1 AI on each team, see who can use the taunts to command their teammate better.

I distinctly remember a game from 2000 or 2001 where the AI replied 'bombard' to a random taunt test I sent. I was new to the game and didn't know what I had sent, but I'm thinking it must've been '250' or something similar. I've always wondered if I had imagined it, but it seems it might've been an old response to the strategy taunt.

Hello, Spirit Of The Law. Can you please make a video tutorial for people who want to start playing game in multiplayer? Maybe you can show basic strategies people usually use online, how to fight against rushes and which nations are better for new players with low micromanaging skills and helpful in team games.

I always found the actual voiceover of the taunts extremely demotivated. 'Food please' sounds like someone who has given up on life, but still went to the drive-through out of habit.

I often tell them to "attack an enemy now", they stream through my base and just stop...
Also, I wish there was a command to tell the new AI to build a market specifically. The HD AI won't build ons until an hour into the game unless there is absolutely no water, and even then it's late to do so anyway.

I just bought AOE2 DE and would love to hear custom taunts (Trump, Monthy, Gordon etc.) during my games!
I downloaded (subscribed) it from the Ingame-MODS-menu, the text of the taunts is ok but the sound is not played :(
From what I figured out the file-type changed from mp3 (or other usuals) to WEM-files.
So I think creating new mods will be more complicated.
BUT the existing mods in DE are already with those new files! Therefore I don't understand why I can't hear the sounds?!?

Question for you, not this video but I've noticed you'll retask a villager collecting something to build, but normally don't send them to drop off what they've collected already. Is that by design? I've seen some walking around with 10 gold lol.
Oh video suggestion btw, can you do one on sheep? Like why some maps have them near base and others make you feel like they disappeared? Is that an algorithm or some once every few games thing? Thanks dude love your vids.
