If you're not sure which flea treatment is right for your cat, consult your veterinarian to identify a product that's both safe and effective. Have you used any of these products before? Did they work and were you happy with the results? Let us know in the comments!
My veterinarian is not going to identify any product/poison he can't make money off of; I've already tried that. The best combination of safety and effectiveness I've found is colloidal silver.
Years ago I had a nasty flea infestation which almost killed one of my cats. She needed 2 blood transfusions which saved her life. My vet recommended Fleabusters which deprives oxygen and eventually kills the fleas. It was a great product and it was safe for pets and humans.
I adopted my cat from the animal shelter and immediately took her to the vet. She didn't have fleas but ear mites. I used advantage multi which works on most parasites. Great stuff. Important to note, that you have to wash the bedding and treat the whole house along with the other pets with fleas and mites.
I can't find that on Amazon and was wondering how you had to get yours? Mine have mites from a stray we took in that had them and it's getting crazy with mites and fleas up in here lol
First, treat all your pets with advantage. If house is infested, next use pecor 2000 on all carpets and lightly on wood floors. Use the advantage every month. Worked for us after weeks and weeks of absolute hell. Hope someone finds this useful.
I have used THREE doses of advantage and literally none of them worked. I’m convinced they changed the formula to something completely ineffective. I’m particularly upset because that stuff is NOT cheap. 😡
I tried the Soresto collar on my cat and when he went to scratch his neck, the collar spun and gave him really bad neck burns and cuts. I've had my other cat get her teeth under it and that caused mouth trauma. I wouldn't recommend soresto to anyone for cats. Look up "cat collar injuries" as they can be serious. Such as the cat getting their arm in the collar and causing a massive cut in their armpit.
I was itching along with my cats. I had fleas in my room. I used natural care home spray for fleas everywhere daily on my bed, cats bedding, and wherever my cats sat. I also changed bedsheets and vacuumed. Bathe my cats with Adams flea/tick shampoo. I also used Adams flea/spray daily on my cats. I spray it around their neck soaking wet as if they wore a flea collar. It’s helping my cats. I think spraying around their neck daily is helping my cats best.
I'm having a flea problem. I have 2 adult cats..I used the type you put on back of their neck! Now I need to know I long I have to wait to give them a bath with the flea shampoo

Revolution is another flea killing option. It's about $22 a dose from my vet and $25 if I want revolution plus. You can find it online too but I would check with your vet that it's safe for your cat (as you should for most things). It really helped me when I rescued a stray kitten that had a flea infestation
I have been reading online about flea killers for cats. Several sites state NOT to use anything with Pyrethrins on cats as it is a neurotoxin and can kill cats. Some of these products you show have this chemical.
I'm so glad I found this channel! I have 2 cats, hagrid and harriet. I flew treated them but I'm still finding fleas. Growing up my mom always gotten the topical kind and only get it from the vet. This was an extremely helpful video!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!
You will start to notice small red dots that look like blood around the washer, sink, or anywhere that can get wet. Flea poop turns red when wet. That is when you need to start finding flea meds for the animals. This means the house is about to get overrun by fleas, if not already. I have found that buying a spray for bed bugs and fleas works well around the house. I still need a cheap solution for fleas for 7 cats. I am starting to get a problem again.
And Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (FGDE) sprinkled on your mattress, carpets, cats fur. It cuts open the exoskeleton of bugs and dehydrates them, so they, larvae, and eggs all die. Takes awhile though.
Used capstar one time for my male cat. Might have noting to do with it but 2 days later I had a blocked cat for the first time. The day I gave it to him he just laid around and gave off a strange smell and ran a fever. Months and 7k later he's had a PU surgery and finally acting like himself again. Like I said not sure if it's related but ill NEVER use it again. I'll only apply prescription treatments for flea's ect from my vet now.
I used coconut oil and it was the best thing I could have done I have a long haired cat and didn't realize she got fleas because she never even went outside so I put coconut oil all over her coat and the fleas could not move and I was able to brush them right out !!!
@Jay Bennett I had a hell of a time getting rid of them, and she's an inside 🐈 I keep a flea collar on her at all times !!! Oh did I mention she's long haired lol
I fought a huge infestation of fleas when I rescued a kitten from the streets, my grown cat got fleas, my dog got fleas and my kitten was the one that brought the fleas. So at that point my whole house was infested, and I didn’t know what to do. My grown cat had gotten fleas before when she was also a kitten and she also came from the streets, so I had deal with it before by taking my cat and my dog to the vet and getting a the medication the provided which was $15 each dosis. It worked for me at that time but this time around it was not working, I took all my animals to the vet multiple times to get the treatment but it was doing nothing. With my husband we decided to give Advantage a try and it work like a champ! We started to see dead fleas appeared in our sofa or the bed, they were just dying with the first treatment we have put on them. Now I know maybe advantage could be a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth every penny, specially when I had already spent a bunch in the vet’s medication that didn’t work. Complementary to advantage I used a house flea treatment spray so I could spray it on the furniture and carpet and that helped a lot. I was really frustrated with the fleas so what I did is that I gave my cats a bath, I applied the advantage treatment, then I washed all my bed sheets and cover seats with hot water and after I did that I sprayed the house with that treatment, it worked really good! I got all of those things at Walmart so it was easy access and amazing results. My home is now flea-free and my cats are happier than ever.
@@chrissyh658 Hartz UltraGuard Plus Flea and Tick Home Spray, this was the spray I used to cover my bedsheets, sofa, and carpet. It is not the one I use to apply to my cats. Advantage ii is the topical solution I use.
I’ve often found the Adams products to be the best! I also dilute the Adams shampoo and spray that instead of any other products! Works great and most people never think of this method! I grew up in a veterinary clinic so I’ve heard everything!
Yes, I agree with the diluting the cat flea shampoo and dip a small hand towel in the diluted flea shampoo and literally wet the cat. Common sense. I don't want to torture my cat bathing.
Unfortunately, I found that my cat can’t use many products due to her having sensitive skin, I’ve found that a treatment called Catego has worked best for her and using a spray from a brand called Natural Care!
I also noticed one of the kittens had segments coming out of the Butt. So I went ahead and got any kinds of meds I can use once they put on more weight. They’re still under 2 pounds. I bought bayer tape worm dewormer, Drontal( for things like round worms), and Cheristin for fleas.. I also have food grade (has to be food grade) diatomaceous earth which can be used to kill worms from the inside. I don’t plan on using everything at once but I’ll be ready if needed.
Hi there, it sounds like you're well-prepared to get rid of any intestinal parasites. Since worms can be particularly dangerous for young kittens, I would also consider consulting with a veterinarian to identify the type of infestation and decide on the right next steps. Also, there's almost no evidence that diatomaceous earth is an effective dewormer. Here's an enlightening review of the studies done on DE as a dewormer: www.sheepandgoat.com/de Thanks again for commenting and I wish you and your kittens all the best! - Mallory
Huge thanks. Had two years of nightmares with fleas, mainly due to Frontline Spot on not working and seeing all the comments about it wonder how they continue to be allowed to sell a product that doesn't work. Even if their Frontline Plus works, not giving the company anymore of my money. Thank you for this review, most helpful. 🌻❤
Our last cat used to go out and we used to get a Seresto collar fitted every year on his annual check up. We never had a problem with any fleas at all. They aren’t cheap but they last a year and they do work.
All cats are different! I have 3 and 1 wears a seresto and the other 2 get advantage and they’re all flea free. As a dog/cat groomer, I definitely recommend shopping around and figuring out which works for you!
Have you tried advtange treatment shampoo? I had 4 cats and recently brought in a stray she had fleas and ticks I gave her dawn baths but it's not working
Had dogs and cats, mopping with Dawn, or using borax powder that mopping killed all the flea infestation after using a spot on flea treatment. Also used dawn as a shampoo on my dogs. Work marvelously
Out of those 8 products I got 6. The raid is the best out of the ones I got for the house. And the drops is the best for my cats because I can see the fleas dying and falling off.
I have four cats with flea infestations and will be implementing many of these tips! But I will actually be using bug bombs to treat most of my apartment, I've done this before when we had an ant infestation so I know it works! I put the cats in a separate room or area of the apartment then I duct tape the door to the room with the bug bomb and I do this to each area of the house until every section is treated, moving the cats and myself accordingly. It's a length process for sure but I want to be absolutely certain I stamp out these fleas. My babies will no longer suffer! Best of luck to everyone treating flea infestations.

I’m going to try this, I have 6 adult cats and I’ve been struggling for 6 months trying to use the brand “vets best”. So at least now yk it’s not so affective. Good luck to u too
I got my kitten and he had fleas I gave him a flea bath with Adams foam and was able to remove fleas and I put on the seresto collar and fast forward almost 4months later I see him scratch more than usually decided to give him a flea bathroom and there was more fleas then there was when I first got him so the collar did nothing in my eyes
Hey Sara, yes! Thanks for mentioning Revolution. The biggest difference here is that Revolution protects against heartworm, while Frontline also defends your cat against a few other critters like ticks, lice and mites. Both are relatively safe and reliable and it's all about which insects concern you most.
@@AllAboutCatsYT Huh? Revolution Plus kills fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, and heartworm. Besides that, even though it doesn't say this on the package, it kills sarcoptic mange. My cat had both fleas and mange....and Revolution Plus got rid of both. I tried Advantage and Frontline before trying Revolution Plus....waiting a month between applying each so as not to overdose. Anyway, I'll always use Revolution Plus in the future. It does require a prescription from a vet, and it is pretty expensive, but bottom line- it works like a charm.
We have 9 kittens right now! One of them was saved by the fire department from a car they were stuck in. We took the kitty in partially because no facility will be accepting new animals (covid precaution) anyway I’ve been using dawn dish detergent on the kittens except for the one that was stuck under a hood. She is traumatized so she needs time to build up trust first.

I just used Frontline Plus on my 5 month old kitten who had just recently got fleas, we gotten a slight infestation around the place and I work for a Pest Control Company so I know one of the most IMPORTANT rules in getting rid of fleas in home is to VACUUM your home thoroughly every 1-2 days for about 2 weeks. I’ve noticed the fleas around the home have dramatically declined but i’m still seeing a couple on my kittens stomach area after 48 hours of dosage. so i’m not entirely sure if the Frontline is working just yet
First act for cats made by tevra does not work the topical it's terrible.I'm with you.I invited a feral who had kittens inside in March and out of the blue I noticed my indoor cat losing hair on her tail and scratching im so upset I wana cry but tommorow me and my husband are vacuuming our entire basement and washing each cat or going to try but we used first act for cats itsbterrible didn't make a dent all 4 cats have fleas are scratching and kittens have them.Im going to but something to spray on cement that exterminator said they will die immediately spray my entire basement and maybe ill give advantage a try or the pill for now just to get rid of them right away.im so distraught
Can someone tell me of there are any other critters that might not be killed by my spot on? ( its for fleas and ticks) I often see my cat flinch slightly like she's being bitten but it doesn't stop when I use the spot on. Does it loose effectiveness if not used correctly or every 3 weeks as advised? Any help appreciated, thanks all.
Its really important to note the weigh of your cat and what topical medicine youre using. I made that mistake and my kitty had seizures it was so scary. (This was many years ago but its still important)
I need some help I recently gotten the flea collar seresto and my cat is allergic to fleas as the doctor had said so we bought her this collar and I'm not sure if it's working beacuse she is still scratching her face and body she had also been having patches on her face before we gotten the collar but she still bleeds and scratches herself! Is it working and it's just a slow process or is it not working? I got the collar of Petco btw
Hi Sheila, you can get all of the details here: www.boehringer-ingelheim.com.au/sites/au/files/animal_health_new_zealand/frontline_plus_for_cats_and_dogs_sds.pdf
Trifexis monthly on the dogs. Capstar combined with a bath(dawn dish soap) on dogs and cats. Heavy vacuum on the carpets then sprayed with the vets best.. was very effective.
I haven’t seen fleas on my cat but found tiny little black things where she was laying on the bed. She has been scratching but I still haven’t seen a flea moving on her.
I have used Advantage II for both cats and it has worked well previously until this year. I put it on monthly. Unfortunately both of them have fleas now so I am researching new alternatives (ie coconut oil application) to kill what is now active on them and then have to consider a new preventative treatment. One of my cats is feral but let’s me pet him all the time now and hold him on occasion. His claws are like ninja blades so I’m limited to options that work around his timidity.
Thank you for this video! My husband and I fought with our cat's fleas for two months until we bathed her with flea shampoo (she hated us afterwards) and used Fiprontix ampule. After Fiprontix we gave her Frontline combo just in case there are any eggs left on the surfaces and in the furniture and I hope she never gets them again.
@@eddie_taco2350 Yes it did but it stinks like a motherfucker 😁 after that obe month of Frontline combo we have been using only Fiprontix and no fleas so far 😊

Do you have any recommendation about what to do when they get ticks? I live at the countryside, and they come home with few every day. So fare they have let me remove the ticks, but they start to avoid me when I am finding the tools.
Beyer Seresto collar (in my country sold as Foresto) bought for my adult cat to give an instant relief did nothing but burn the skin around the neck. Tried to return it but the answer was that my cat is allergic and it's not their fault
Hey there E2 M5, Advecta does appear to be safe as long as you use a product made for cats and which is appropriate for your cat's weight. It contains pyriproxyfen and imidacloprid, both of which have strong reputations for safety when used as directed. Hope this was quick enough and helps you to make a decision!
@@e2m514 ...I have adopted a small adult female stray cat in my neighborhood. I bought Advecta, the one labeled for 5 to 9 pounds. I believe that this cat weighs approximately 7 to 8 pounds. They have one for over 9 pounds too. It seems to be working good, so far.
@@rebeccalavoy6655 yeah, ive used it on my cat everytime she picks up flees. Shes responded well to the treatment and no negative side effects. I recommend it to anyone looking for a safe flee treatment product for cats
I would not recommend capstar just because while it does kill off adult fleas temporarily I've found that its not long before they just come right back. I've done EVERYTHING from capstar to a flea bath to constant vacuuming after using flea powder stuff and steam cleaning yet tons just end up back on my cat and jumping all over my legs when I walk through the house eating me alive. Its driving me INSANE I hate even leaving my bedroom which now they've started popping up in too even though I don't even let my cat in there! Im going to try frontline like you suggested and I really hope to God it does something otherwise I have no idea what else to do.
Ok I heard on another channel that minimizing the humidity severely affects the fleas. So if your climate allows you to maintain less than 50% humidity for 4 or so days then maybe it will work? Aircon on dehumidifier mode? I live in the tropics so I really can't maintain low humidity for such prolonged periods. We have mosquitoes here and I do have personal experience that maintaining cooler temperatures using the Aircon does significantly reduce mosquitoes inside the house.
My cat has fleas and they are in my house too. They were biting my feet and ankles and I had itchy bumps. I tried flea drops. Didn't work. I have been using the Adams Flea shampoo but I have to bathe my cat every 7 days. In between baths, when I brush his fur with a flea comb, he still has lots of fleas and flea dirt. The shampoo works great for killing the fleas when I bathe him but it certainly doesn't prevent the fleas from coming back for 28 days! It doesn't even prevent them for a week! I also put a flea collar on him which does absolutely nothing! My husband made a homemade flea trap using a shallow container of soapy water with a desk lamp shining over it. I have caught about 30 fleas using that so far. I also used the Raid flea spray and sprayed my entire carpet in my bedroom, around my bed frame and I also coated my bathroom floor and around the baseboards because I was seeing them in there too. I haven't treated any other rooms yet but I'm going to. The only product that got rid of the fleas on my cat was the oral pills. They work great but they are only effective for a couple of days. This isn't cost effective because there are only 6 pills in a box and they cost $30 a box. If I have to give my cat a pill everyday, that would cost about $150 a month! I can't afford that. I'm at my wits end with this problem!
You have to treat all rooms at the same time. You can't do one today and another tomorrow. Get the pets out of the house while you vacuum and steam clean and wash everything. OR I would clean the bathroom (mop floors and everything) then give them a bath and lock them in there while you take care of the rest of the house and then go back and mop the bathroom floor again. This is how you have to tackle this because otherwise they just move from one room to the other. I'd also throw the towels you dry the pets with in the washer and not leave them around the pets.
missmaryanna25 Medications like frontline spread and disperse throughout the skin after a few hours. You apply it to an area where the cat can’t reach (back of the neck)
I fostered some kittens that brought fleas into my house months ago and I have two cats and one dog and have been battling these fleas since then. I’ve tried many of these products, both topical and the seresto collars as well as the vets best spray and other sprays and carpet powders. Nothing seems to be working 😭 right now they all have seresto collars on and I’m still finding multiple fleas on them all daily as well as flea poop so they’re still feeding on my pets and so they’re able to continue reproducing. My pets go to the vet in the next few weeks for their yearly checkups so I might ask the vet what I should do, maybe an oral treatment would be best 🤷🏻♀️
The fleas are all over your house! You gotta treat you pets and your house or else the fleas shall remain. Vacuum. Vacuum. Clean clean clean. Dawn dish soap your pets.
@@PallahDaOracle I know they were in the house as well. I was cleaning and vacuuming and and spraying down the furniture with flea spray. My dog was getting weekly dawn baths and my kitten got a dawn bath multiple times. My older cat would have clawed me to death if I tried that so no dawn bath for her. But since this video is about flea medication for pets, I only shared my experience with that aspect of the flea treatment process. My vet gave me different treatments including an oral medication for the dog and I stopped finding fleas pretty quickly.
I just noticed my 4 INDOOR cats scratching abt a week ago but we also screened in our front porch and left the deck floor as is after repainting it . Ive not been bitten by fleas myself but I saw 1 on 1 of my cats nose last night and it has to be that porch and under that dang floor ! My poor pampered kitties !! So glad this popped up in my feed . --Just curious years ago had a friend who used Diamatrious Earth on her animals with good luck anyone try that on here ????
Hey I read in multiple articles that Pyrethrin is super bad for cats. It is ok for dogs but not cats. The Adams shampoo you showed has that in it. So are you 100% positive that that p-chemical is fine?
In appropriate doses, pyrethrins are safe for cats and are recommended for use on them. You can learn more about this here: www.atdove.org/article/pyrethrins-fact-or-fiction
Do these topical flea drops really work? I got revolution plus. I used them a while back and I never noticed a difference. Bravecto chewable for dogs works like a charm! But they don’t have them for cats. Only topical drops. When I use these drops I always get the hair wet. It’s hard as heck to get on the skin. And then my cat licks it off. He is able to reach the area where I put it. So I guess I gotta go higher behind the neck instead of the shoulder blades?
Hi there. Some topical medications seem to work differently in various areas and it's speculated that fleas have developed resistance to certain products. You may want to talk directly with a veterinarian about the issues you're encountering.
@@AllAboutCatsYT everyone here seems to want to give revolution plus. I got mine from the city spay and neuter program. I don’t necessarily have a veterinarian. I have a lot of feral cats in my backyard and we are getting hit hard with fleas now.
Pretty much agree with the list except the topical one. Bravecto works just as good except for 12 weeks, worth the money 100%. Sometimes fleas will get used to the same insecticides on failed attempts of finishing them all, so you have to switch it up as well.
i had a really bad flea infestation with my 3 cats a couple months ago. i never want to go through that again. i was using frontline gold for a while but 6 doses went for about 110$. my vet reccomended it but split betwwn 3 cats this is only 2 months of protection. which isnt even enough for me to get out of a active infestation. even though the seresto collars seem to be on the pricier side i think itll pay off since they last 8 months, and id be spending around 175$ on chewy as opposed to 440$ with frontline gold for that same 8 month period. frontline plus is a little more forgiving at 72$ per six doses. so id be spending 288$ for an 8 month period. my math might be off a little bit but this may be something to consider if you come from a multicat household like i do!
I actually just got the same flea comb, the vets+best home spray and waterless shampoo and after purchasing the two I’ve seen some negative reviews. People saying they found their cat dead after using the shampoo. 😩I don’t wanna use neither now on my boys and I’m thinking I should just return them. It’s Bothering me that a company is making Products for cats with oils that are toxic for them.🙄
I used the vets best shampoo and spray . My poor cats eye swelled up and he couldn’t see for days. It cause my skin to get a rash . It’s too harsh and it don’t work at all.
You should have mentioned that even though the Seresto collar is expensive, it lasts for 8 months which means in the long run it is way cheaper than something you have to use every 30 days. Ive found they keep working even longer. Best flea treatment for sure!
I agree with you I had this flea collar and it was working great especially because I have a cat that is very allergic and sensitive to things. However there was a recall and I heard cats were dying and were getting sick so I stopped using it I have used revolution, but my cat seems to be allergic to it.
The efficacy of flea treatments can depend on where you live. Fleas in some areas are more resistant to certain treatments. Frontline didn’t work for my cat but Bravecto did. Definitely try over the counter remedies, but sometimes it is cheaper in the long run to consult a vet.
Where could I get Bravecto at? I used Frontline Plus on my two cats about two weeks ago, and yet they're still scratching and itching, and on top of that, I also flea bombed my bedrooms and my living room today and yesterday using those Raid Flea Foggers, and as of right now, I'm still seeing live fleas on both of my cats. Is there a better alternative to Raid as far as flea bombs/foggers go?
Journey Towards Salvation Bravecto is prescription only, so you would have to get a prescription from a vet. You can fill the prescription at your vets office or a pet store like Petco/Chewy. One dose costs about $60 but it lasts 3 months, which is long enough time get rid of them for good if your cat is always indoors. You need something that works for at least a month because fleas lay eggs that drop around the house. I also tried vacuuming w/ a flea collar inside the canister but honestly I think the Bravecto solved the problem for me. Good luck! Fleas suck...
Bravecto caused our cat to go insane for 3 months. Terrified of everyone and everything. Hid out in the dark under a bed when he is normally very outgoing and loved the outdoors. Refused to go outside or be around anyone. Lost his balance, seemed to see and hear things. Fortunately after about 3 months, it wore off and he is back to his usual outgoing self. #bravectosucks
@Amanda Cat6 The bombs get on everything in the cat room. You need to remove the bowls out of the room. Put the cat in another room and wait 4 hours to put it back. Advantage II worked for me, but I had to put it halfway down her back. It wasn't killing the fleas around the rump. I had to comb it in and watch her until it dried.
I have a question if anyone would be kind enough to share their insight. I’m eyeing the adams shampoo and the frontline drops for preventative measures and was wondering if using both would be safe or should only one treatment be used and if so which one?

My cat is a Russian Blue. She had a reaction to a spot-on on back of her neck. Created a bald spot. Took around a month to grow back in. I put the cat in an upstairs bedroom. I took the cat room & bombed it with Hot Shot bedbug/flea bombs. I then vacuumed the room good & mopped. I bought the cat back in & applied Zodiac spray on her. I then combed it in. No more black flecks being combed out & her coat looks good now. I'm not sure why she had a reaction 2 months after the last Bayer spot-on treatment. It may not be that. She also was recently fed some ocean fish cat food. Could have been an allergy or an itch from the fleas. I'm afraid to try another spot-on. Is there a better brand than Zodiac to spray her? It doesn't last that long.
Hi Virginia, there are a lot of factors to consider here, and I would recommend taking your cat into the veterinarian to get a proper examination and advice.
Yes, and it's always worrying to see these reviews. While they're worth considering, haven't seen anything outside of that anecdotal evidence that this medication is harmful to cats and, therefore, it does still seem like an option worth considering.
I’ve adopted an 8 month old kitten back in September…. He is now an indoor/ outdoor cat. We haven’t seen any fleas. However, it’ll soon get warmer here and GA. I’d like to work on prevention…. What would be recommended for “pre flea” treatment? Thanks
I bought capstar for my cats ( DO NOT BUY AT PETCO 30$ OVERPRICED) and they work wonders! First time in a month that my cats dont scratch. I also bought the raid flea spray. I hope that this is all i have to so they can sleep in my room again
We have two orange indoor/outdoor tabby kittens, we live in Costa Rica on a 5 acre ranch, We have no carpets (tile only) but we do have a queen size bed that our cats sleep with us on... how should we go about flea control on our cats and our house?
I would really be interested in a video comparing Frontline plus, advantage 2 , advantage multi cat and revolution. not sure if anyone else is but definitely interested as I can't find a single video going in depth about these products
I will tell you this. My Vet back in 2014 told me people were complaining about frontline not working and to use advantage 2 so that's what my cat got. It worked well but you still have to do all that cleaning or you myswell not waste your money. And bathe the pets- I bathed my cat a few days after he got his medicine every month. And it takes time but if you keep up with the routine eventually the beasts go away. I never heard of advantage multi cat but I'm not sure what that is since it goes by the weight of the animal. I never heard of revolution either.
Please respond if you see this my cat is pregnant and has fleas I can’t give her her usual pill because it will kill the babies I don’t know what to do
Hey Luna, while the oral medications shown here haven't been evaluated for safety in pregnant or nursing cats, you can safely use certain topical medications on your pregnant kitty. The Frontline Plus shown in this review is considered safe for lactating mother cats, so I would consider it as an option for her. Hope this helps you decide what to do!
They can be quite effective for getting rid of fleas in your home. You'll have to use the same precautions that apply to a spray, so be sure to read the package carefully to make sure you're doing everything right.
With decades experience I've found the flee combs with handle inline with tines(?), only as wide as the comb part, the best. Handles like the one shown here get in the way when going between front legs in particular and are much more difficult to control when pulling hard thru thick fur, they twist to easily. frontline and advantage do not work. (Here in Australia) The fleas have become immune, so it is a total waste of a lot of money. Comfortis is can have severe reactions in some cats. Borax sprinkled onto the carpets desiccates the fleas exoskeleton. Leave for a week. vacuum and repeat again. This has worked well. No repeats for 8 years.. . Also washing dog’s blankets and cat’s bed. Using a flea comb and checking twice a day. Easier with a helper , manageable alone.
Hi there, my girl is under a year. I gave her a bath and took one small black flee right off her back. About a week ago I stopped by vet and complain about it. They sold me Advantage multi 5.1-9Lbs which had 3 doses. I put one as per direction and yet a week later this is what happened. I can see that even after todays bath, she is still trying to catch some. In your opinion, SENTRY Fiproguard or one of this oral pill, would it be better?
Hi Timofey, Advantage should work as well or better than the Fiproguard, so I'd wonder if you still have fleas in the environment that need to be wiped out to completely eradicate the infestation. In my mind, treating the environment would be the best next step (while continuing to apply the Advantage Multi as directed).
In theory, it should be safe for the cats to lick one another, but I've grown increasingly cautious of the Seresto flea collar. It has been connected to almost a hundred thousand reports of illness, including over 2,000 deaths, and the company refuses to recall them as requested by the U.S. Committee on Oversight and Reforms' subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy. And the EPA seems to have stayed quiet on it, which is also worrying. oversight.house.gov/sites/democrats.oversight.house.gov/files/2022.06.15%20ECP%20Seresto%20Staff%20Report%20FINAL.pdf
Can I use more than just one product. Would like to use the oral and the cat collar. But as of right now my kids only wear the cat collar. My girl is an indoor out door kitty. Mostly outdoors. My boy is indoors 24/7.
Hey Marjorie, it's not recommended to use multiple flea treatments at once. If your cats are using flea collars, they shouldn't require oral medications. Hope this helps!
May I ask for more tips for dealing with fleas in carpeting? I saw the sprays but I dont know how long it takes to work, as they don't say on the bottles. Should I try using DE?
You can buy the plug in sticky traps with a light that lures fleas in. You can see it works based on the number of fleas you see on the sticky trap. Great for carpet....won't help your pet.
Hi there. While Cheristin appears to be generally safe for cats, I have read some concerning reports about its safety. Additionally, the safety of its active ingredient, spinetoram, does not appear to have been well-established. Given this information, I would approach Cheristin with caution.
All About Cats thank you! I have a mostly indoor cat that I take outside for maybe an hour a day so I’m not sure what type of flea medicine I should look for? I haven’t really seen anything that’s for mild use.
Depending on how serious the flea threat is, I would lean towards treatment rather than prevention so as to put your cat at as little risk as possible.
A half a bottle of dawn platinum 4x. Wet cat ir kitten. Completely cover cat in dawn. Let it sit on for 5 minutes. The fleas will die and sh*t themselfs to death. This is what we do when we get a stray cat in. Works great! If there are still some left... Repeat once more and they should be completely gone. Also clean your entire house. 👌
With the pills and spot on treatment. People say it kills the fleas, but how exactly? Does the flea need to bite to die? So us it possible the pet can still get eczema from the bites?
If you're not sure which flea treatment is right for your cat, consult your veterinarian to identify a product that's both safe and effective. Have you used any of these products before? Did they work and were you happy with the results? Let us know in the comments!
My veterinarian is not going to identify any product/poison he can't make money off of; I've already tried that. The best combination of safety and effectiveness I've found is colloidal silver.

I adopted my cat from the animal shelter and immediately took her to the vet. She didn't have fleas but ear mites. I used advantage multi which works on most parasites. Great stuff. Important to note, that you have to wash the bedding and treat the whole house along with the other pets with fleas and mites.

You will start to notice small red dots that look like blood around the washer, sink, or anywhere that can get wet. Flea poop turns red when wet. That is when you need to start finding flea meds for the animals. This means the house is about to get overrun by fleas, if not already.

Here's an enlightening review of the studies done on DE as a dewormer: www.sheepandgoat.com/de

Hey Sara, yes! Thanks for mentioning Revolution. The biggest difference here is that Revolution protects against heartworm, while Frontline also defends your cat against a few other critters like ticks, lice and mites. Both are relatively safe and reliable and it's all about which insects concern you most.

Hiya, I've noticed that my cat has fleas on her stomach so I'm wandering how Frontline plus will prevent fleas all around her body?

I've heard of using food grade diatomaceous earth on bedding and around the house. Anyone have any experience with that?
works super well! i spread it all over the carpet and literally it killed all the fleas!! also put the frontline on my cats :)
I think that advantage flea and ticks works pretty well. This was pretty well put together.
Mallory, what is the update for this year 2023?
Does Frontline original spot on work on cats?
Pretty much agree with the list except the topical one. Bravecto works just as good except for 12 weeks, worth the money 100%. Sometimes fleas will get used to the same insecticides on failed attempts of finishing them all, so you have to switch it up as well.
Exactly, Frontline & Advantage stopped working completely & our Vet said this exact same thing 💯
i had a really bad flea infestation with my 3 cats a couple months ago. i never want to go through that again. i was using frontline gold for a while but 6 doses went for about 110$. my vet reccomended it but split betwwn 3 cats this is only 2 months of protection. which isnt even enough for me to get out of a active infestation. even though the seresto collars seem to be on the pricier side i think itll pay off since they last 8 months, and id be spending around 175$ on chewy as opposed to 440$ with frontline gold for that same 8 month period. frontline plus is a little more forgiving at 72$ per six doses. so id be spending 288$ for an 8 month period. my math might be off a little bit but this may be something to consider if you come from a multicat household like i do!
I actually just got the same flea comb, the vets+best home spray and waterless shampoo and after purchasing the two I’ve seen some negative reviews. People saying they found their cat dead after using the shampoo. 😩I don’t wanna use neither now on my boys and I’m thinking I should just return them. It’s Bothering me that a company is making Products for cats with oils that are toxic for them.🙄
Fake reviews? Use a small amount first to check for side effects.
I used the vets best shampoo and spray . My poor cats eye swelled up and he couldn’t see for days. It cause my skin to get a rash . It’s too harsh and it don’t work at all.
Wish I’d watched this before going out and buying what I did!! I got a box of applicators and chose to buy two collars over a spray for my home 😩
However there was a recall and I heard cats were dying and were getting sick so I stopped using it I have used revolution, but my cat seems to be allergic to it.
as soon as i took the collar off of my cat she got fleas within that week
@@nocturnalfolf6097 Hot Shot bedbug & flea bombs in the 3 pack worked for me. I used the Hot Shot pump spray around the doors & surrounding rooms.
Thank U,I cant use any harsh chemicals on my Cat,He has had Asthma All his life,For almost 15 yrs,He had a Massive cold when I got Him, At 3 months, He was Homeless during the winter at that time, So the Packaged Flea meds sets Him off N a bad Asthma Attacks, So bn Bathing him with Dawn Dish Soap,But the Fleas come back after a week or so.
Can that first shampoo be used on dogs?
Yes.
@@AllAboutCatsYT THANKS!!!
From my experience I had a full on infestation and I treated with Adam's carpet spray and sentry home spray and for my cats I went to the vet and bravecto killed all the fleas on them that I had been battling for months
Hi, beautiful how are you doing today? Im having this same problem any advice
It’s killed dogs before
Bravecto.
The issue is we have superfleas. Didnt respond to advantage, capstar, or frontline. Really struggling.
Have you been able to get rid of them yet? We have the same problem. If so, howwww?
@@ryanveal7624 I just realized my cat has fleas I seen some jumping off of her and I'm so overwhelmed as what to do any ideas? Sounds like I have to burn down my house and surrender my cats like these can't be the only options
U must able to explain to us on how to use those products you mentioned so that we are aware of it.
Unfortunately, I can't do everything in every video. Instructions are included with each product, so if you choose a particular item, feel free to reference the instructions on the package or website.
Have you read comments on Amazon for the Sentry Capguard oral meds? It's killing cats...
Thanks
thank you for taking the time to make this video very helpful
I bought capstar for my cats ( DO NOT BUY AT PETCO 30$ OVERPRICED) and they work wonders! First time in a month that my cats dont scratch. I also bought the raid flea spray. I hope that this is all i have to so they can sleep in my room again
Update? Did the Raid work??
@@philarevolutionarywarriorp8295 the flea spray bomb worked! Havent seen a flea on my cats in a year

Flea and trick green bottle is un safe ? For cat if I spray her on body ? Today, petco to buy this guy said it best one
How about the foggers ?
They can be quite effective for getting rid of fleas in your home. You'll have to use the same precautions that apply to a spray, so be sure to read the package carefully to make sure you're doing everything right.
With decades experience I've found the flee combs with handle inline with tines(?), only as wide as the comb part, the best. Handles like the one shown here get in the way when going between front legs in particular and are much more difficult to control when pulling hard thru thick fur, they twist to easily.
Just my two cents but it makes big diff to ME.
I just adopted a stray kitten how do I figure out how old she is with out being able to bring her to the vet?
I recently did , don’t overspend like I did wait till the kitten is for sure 3-4 months old or 7-8 pounds , because they won’t give the rabies combo shot and make you come back for more ! Hope this helps
You can checkout kittenlady.org website or kittenlady channel. One of her videos she taught audience on how to determine an orphaned baby cat’s age. Hope that helps.
I adore this woman..and ty. I was planning on getting my cats collars but guess i better try the pill or the other options. Appreciate ya.
Thanks for being here, John!
frontline and advantage do not work.
Also fine salt sprinkled liberally on carpets and left for a few days will kill the fleas as it dehydrates the exoskeleton.
@@AllAboutCatsYT besides her I have fish and wife with kids, no fleece
If 1 have 2 cat. Is it ok if they both have collars. What if they lick each other?
In theory, it should be safe for the cats to lick one another, but I've grown increasingly cautious of the Seresto flea collar. It has been connected to almost a hundred thousand reports of illness, including over 2,000 deaths, and the company refuses to recall them as requested by the U.S. Committee on Oversight and Reforms' subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy. And the EPA seems to have stayed quiet on it, which is also worrying. oversight.house.gov/sites/democrats.oversight.house.gov/files/2022.06.15%20ECP%20Seresto%20Staff%20Report%20FINAL.pdf
collars no bueno , IMO get topical on neck. Trim the neck first so the product works better.
Can we use baby oil?
Oil can help to relieve your cat's itchiness by getting rid of fleas short-term, but it won't get rid of the flea infestation for good.
my go-to TH-camr for my new kitten, thank you for all the great vid! :)
Jason-wu, I'm honored to hear that we're your go-to channel for your new kitten. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you and your kitten all the best!
I spray my cat with Ortho home use it works really well!
I'm assuming this is a joke, but for anyone who doesn't recognize that: please don't apply home/garden insecticides directly to your cat.
I’m concerned about the collar I had that one really liked it however their was a recall cats were dying and getting sick???
Those spray we can use direct to our cats..
May I ask for more tips for dealing with fleas in carpeting? I saw the sprays but I dont know how long it takes to work, as they don't say on the bottles. Should I try using DE?
You can certainly try using DE! Vacuuming will also help.
You can buy the plug in sticky traps with a light that lures fleas in. You can see it works based on the number of fleas you see on the sticky trap. Great for carpet....won't help your pet.
Thoughts on Cheristin?
4:07 can that component be synthesized into a home serum?
Can you use a one orally and one topically at the same time. Just curious. Thank you.
No
With the pills and spot on treatment. People say it kills the fleas, but how exactly?
Does the flea need to bite to die?
So us it possible the pet can still get eczema from the bites?
