I had a beautiful dog who didn't have any exposure to topical flea and tick treatment until he was two years old. Perfectly healthy dog. Then the Vet put some on him without my permission when they had him in the back to draw blood. 24 hours later he had a huge seizure. I didn't connect the two until a few years later when finally it clicked that after every six month treatment he'd have a big seizure followed by smaller ones in the weeks following. By then the damage was done, his brain was damaged, he developed balance issues, he would get confused and "lost" if too far away from me or off leash in the yard. We stopped the topicals, but he was never the same. To this day I feel guilty for not putting it together sooner and protecting him better, but I trusted the Vet and pharmaceutical industry back then. Never again.
YES TRUE IT HAPPEND TO MY DOG , I GAVE HIM A SHOWER QUICKLY , THE STUFF WAS PUT BY THE VET AS WE WHERE GOING BACK HOME FROM ABROAD . OSCAR STARTED TO WEE NON STOP SO I GO SUSPICIOUS AND ALL I COULD DO WAS TO WASH HIM. AFTER HE STOPPED AND RECOVERED , SU EVIL ON DEFENCELESS DOGS .
I’m so sorry that happened to you. I’ve had two dogs that developed seizures and I believe it was because I had used Frontline on them. My current dog has to be on medication to control the seizures but I no longer use any of those chemical types of flea/tick or heat worm drugs.
I am a former Vet nurse and I have been telling anyone who will listen about this for 15 years! Finally, they are starting to report on it because too many people started to notice the link between chemical pesticides and serious health issues and they can no longer repress the studies.
Hello, doctor. I'm sorry to bother you, but I've just watched your video about natural flee repellents and i have a very important question to ask you. I've been using revolution plus on my kitty for about 4 months as he had flees, after that I've stopped. I'm not sure if it's connected, but in December, a couple of months after I've stopped using it, a growth developed on his elbow, close to the armpit on his left arm. I know when it was because I've seen it on pictures as i take a lot. It looked like a little pimple at the time. I've noticed it myself in late February. It looked like one of the paw beans, about 5 mm pink and round, but on his elbow. I've monitored for a while and I've noticed a growth. Then I've scheduled an appointment with the vet, but before the appointment it turned brown and started to bleed from a side. The vet tested it and proscribed animax ointment. He said it wouldn't make it smaller, but being an antibiotic it will prevent infection. When he was testing it, he made it with a needle. I was hoping it's something simple so the water or whatever is inside would just come out and it will heal. Nothing came out as I've hoped. But over the next couple of days I've noticed it getting completely flat, just an excess skin around it forming a circle. The vet says that the test came in inconclusive. May be cancer, maybe not. His recommendation is a surgery. Over time it filled again and started to grow even more. Now it's about an inch and a half and doesn't have hair on it. It's bleeding a little. It's scary to look at. He licks it too. I'm scared to do the surgery due to his age. He's 16. And putting him under can be very risky. Yesterday I've noticed a new growth near it. It's directly under his armpit on the same arm therefore close to his heart. It's different though because it has hair and kind of like like a cyst. He has some on his body, he's a little chunky. I don't know whether that's a new one I am almost certain it's an old one though that was there for years without changing, but it's worth mentioning anyway. I cook for him for years, nothing in his diet has changed. But he does have a kidney problem so he's on low protein diet - 30% of protein 70% of everything else. I don't know if it can be related to that flee medicine or kidneys, or perhaps something else. I have stopped giving him that ointment as it does absolutely nothing but disturb him because i have to put a bandage on his arm so he wouldn't lick it off. I'm leaning towards a surgery because i don't see any other options. But maybe you have some information or theories that might help? As I've mentioned previously I'm scared to do the surgery due to his age. But if we need to, we need to. I'm currently saving money for his surgery and even started a gofund me for help. A few days ago he wasn't feeling good and was hiding under the bed in the bedroom. Wasn't hiding from me though, i think he was just more comfortable in a smaller room. He sat with me on the bed and eat. He was eating a little less but still eating. When i wasn't in a room he would always go under the bed. This was going on for two days. Now his behavior is back to normal, he's active and eating normally. God willing I'll save enough money for surgery soon, but if there's any option not to do it, i would gladly take it as giving him anesthesia is very dangerous. Please let me know if you have any theories on what it might be or how to treat it. Thank you in advance
My 5 uear old pit/lab mix went from being a happy, healthy, energetic dog to having seizures and being on deaths door within 3 days of using Advantage on her. She got better, but lost the use of her back legs for the rest of her life. From that point on all she could do is lay where I put her and wait for me to carry her anywhere she needed to go. I carried that precious dog for 7 years before I finally lost her 2 years ago.......RIP RileyRooster,I miss you still SO MUCH💔 Btw.....the vet adamantly denied that it was the flea drops that caused my dog to almost die🤦♀️
This happened to my sweet little Mia - a black toy poodle. She was perfect and then I used that poison as advised by my vet. She immediately suffered a seizure and then progressively over the next 6 months completely lost the use of her legs and eventually her life. I've had to live with the guilt of having a perfect little dog to losing her within 7 months because I listened to a vet's advice. I would never use that poison again!!! Because that is exactly what it is.
@jillm9801 I'm so sorry for what you had to go thru, made me cry reading your comment..... Please don't blame yourself~!! It's not your fault. You trusted your vet, who's supposed to know what's best,,you aren't to blame🌻 RIP sweet little Mia🙏🏻🩷
Absolutely heartbreaking 💔 - I am so sorry this happened to your beloved dogs. Please don’t blame yourselves. You both put your trust in a product your vets recommended, thought it would protect them from nasty parasites and would never have known it was that harmful 😢. None of it was your fault x
So sorry to anyone who's loved and lost a pet. It never gets easier. I still cry over my lost pets, if I try talking about them out loud. I can't even use lotion they say is for the most sensitive skin without a reaction.its not a surprise putting poison right on the skin of an animal is bad. I tried it on my German shepherd one time. She was allergic to fleas, poor thing. Anyway the smell was shockingly horrible and strong and I never used it again. I mean, if we can smell it, imagine it with their sense of smell. But, fleas are tortuous for them, heartworm is deadly. What do you do? Who do you trust?
This is the first time I've seen someone with veterinarian experience say that catnip helps stop fleas. Since I started growing my own, we haven't had a flea problem. When I told my vet what I thought was keeping the fleas away he was a bit surprised at how well it was working. The plant is easy to grow and much cheaper than buying it. Usually I give my cats enough that they can roll in it, effectively covering their entire bodies, even when I was out for over a year, no fleas returned. Thank you.
My old school vet, Cornell 68, said to start with a tiny drop. If you find ticks, use another tiny drop. He said there was absolutely no need to use an entire tube each month, and it was just a marketing gimmick.
Do you know roughly how long is a small drop effective for? When we have to board my dog at a hotel, those places usually require a flea preventative and it’ll be nice not to use the whole tube on him.
I have two cats and the ladies never had any fleas. A few years ago our neighbours cat came to visit us more frequently. He is such a sweet cat and is getting zero attention from our neighbours, so he liked being around us and the ladies. I saw him scratching a lot so I bought flea drops for our cats just to be sure. Within two weeks one of our cats lost weight within a matter of days. She was hiding, she did not respond to us, did not talk anymore (and she is a real talker) so we took her to the vet. Tests showed that her liver was working really hard and the inflammation level was really high. She got medicine and special food. I never thought about the flea drops directly. I put 1 and 2 together after a while since she never had any health issues before. I never gave them flea drops since and still never had fleas (they are 12 and 13 years old) just clean kitties and a clean house. The vet did not really believe my story when I told him when he asked if I give them flea drops and said no. Gave it once never again! He suggested a different brand. But I don't want to take any risks anymore. Once was enough. Poor sweet cat, it was horrible to see. She is back to being healthy with zero issues❤
I have had 4 cats and maybe the 1st outdoor siamese cat had fleas but the cats since then have NEVER had fleas. My second cat was looked all over by the vet for fleas or flea dirt and he didn't find any (I think he was mad he couldn't sell me a flea treatment). My 2 current cats have zero fleas. I think only neglected cats or ones that are almost always outside get fleas - the same with dogs!
I can tell you for a fact, simparica trio, will destroy your dog's internal organs. Because it happened to mine. Went to the vet for a full check up getting a perfect bill of clean health for my 11 year old dog. Decided to try out the new flea chew pill they sell. My happy dog went from normal to very down and sad within a couple hours. I could tell he was in pain and took him back to the vet the same day. They could find nothing wrong with him. He spent several days in the ER and died from internal organ failure. On his last day he looked at me and there was no soul behind his eyes anymore. Just an automation staring forward or following whoever around. I held him in my lap as they put him to sleep with his favorite squeaky ball as his tail slowly wagged knowing the sound he enjoyed. Don't use anti flea treatments. They are toxic for the insects and your healthy animal. I wish I could sue the company for all the harm they caused.
That's sad but sure glad your cat made it. We had a cat that got toxed (and so did we) from Terminix spraying for roaches. They used a pesticide that is banned now. We had taken him in for neutering & he did not wake up well from sedation. That is how we found out, which led to us finding out why we were having all kinds of strange symptoms too. He was never alright again & died within 6 months. We have had problems long term. I would never use poisons again anywhere or on anything.
I'm a retired Veterinary Technician and when Frontline first came out a sales rep came to the office to sell the docs on it. We asked if it was toxic and the rep drank one!! She said it was so safe that a human can drink it. Ive always wondered how sick she got that night from doing that.
I’m sure that the tube was pre-filled with non toxic liquid like ice tea, etc. dosent matter to vets because they help pharmaceutical companies get rich. My personal opinion is…if the bag or can says “recommended by veterinarians” drop it and run far away. We home cook for our growing puppy, thanks to Dr. Jones & Tula giving suggestions on what to feed him. I’m very thankful for this channel!🐾💕
I love diamataceous earth for many reasons BUT please be careful when sprinkling it around not to inhale it. It's a rich source of silica and can be dangerous to your lungs if inhaled. It's safe to ingest but it does tend to "puff up" a lot when using it as it's so fine.
I literally just learned this :( rescued 3 kittens Monday and have them quarantined from my other cats. Bathed them when I brought them in. And the room theyre in I put some de on the chair just in case they had fleas or ticks… I haven’t found any evidence of either aside from one tick I pulled off after the bath. But one kitten had a cough and sniffles yesterday and today. I also was using de to deworm them, that, is working as I’ve found several worms they’ve puked up or in their poop. But, the kitten that’s coughing tends to groom the other two and she rolls around in the couch. I’m sure she breathed some in from grooming and they playing :( I had no idea that could be an issue till today after looking up what could cause the issue and potential side effects of de. Be very careful applying topically and on furniture they play on.
Omg! I've been hearing it was recommended to put on your dog and in grass and was safe. I put a ton on my grass and the last couple of days my dog had been biting at the grass. He had had the sneezes some. It said food grade shouldn't that mean its safe? Should I be worried?
@@DARA_MaSTeR11 safe for ingesting and many health benefits but NOT safe for inhaling or in eyes etc. Mix it with care into foods or drink and use it that way.
I want to steal her so bad❤. My Tula look alike passed DEC 24 2022, she was almost 23 yrs old. I never put chemicals on her little body, and she ate healthy, homemade meals, all fresh raw foods. I miss her so much
Also, VACUUM all the floors. THEN, dump the debris in a plastic bag, tie it, throw it outside in the garbage can. I do this daily during flea season. Wash bedding in hot soapy water, dry in dryer. I like natural flea collars/remedies. Non toxic. ❤
@ginagz6601 I buy at the pet stores. Brand is Only Natural Pet. Flea & tick collar. Has peppermint oil and geranium. Plus I give them frequent baths during fea season.
My mother washes her pets in warm water with vinegar in their soap, along with combing their fur during the wash with fine toothed flea combs. Her animals look so clean, and healthy
I do not use any flea, tick or heartworm prevention. They are toxic... Years ago, when I trusted my then veterinarian, I trusted him and always did whatever he told me to do. It hurts my heart when I think back.
heartworm will cause your dog to cough and it will eventually block the heartvalves and kill your dog. They used to treat it with arsenic, this was effective.
Our cat went deaf shortly after a flea treatment when she was 12. She lived to be 18 but developed neurological issues as she aged, including head bobbing, tics, and dementia. She was in a sorry state by the time she passed despite having been a very robust and healthy cat with no other major health problems. She ate a premium quality species-appropriate (raw, carnivore) diet and got plenty of exercise. We never shook the feeling that the Frontline is what caused her deafness and the subsequent slow development of other neurological issues.
We hated giving our border collie mix the frontline treatment every month. He would try to run when he saw us taking it out of the doggie drawer and would hunch his shoulders and walk around obviously uncomfortable for a week after. But we live in a very flea infested area in the south east US. A friend told us to mix brewers yeast with coconut oil and give it to our dog every day. We didn’t believe her so we started in the fall so we would be less likely to get a lot of fleas. It’s been several years now and we have had no problems with fleas or ticks and his coat is nice and shiny ❤.
OMG I lost my beautiful collie after using frontline flea treatment on him only ONCE. He couldn't walk straight, his back legs went , then his front legs. I have put about this on social media & had hundreds of messages from people whose pets had been the same. I contacted the makers of frontline & they didn't want to know, saying that was just one dog!! This stuff is a killer & I would NEVER use it again on ANY pet. It needs banning. Some people said their vets won't use it now, and THIS is why. PLEASE PLEASE don't put your pet at risk. I would hate anyone to lose their beloved pet like I lost my beautiful boy.
That's now got me thinking. I adopted a 10 year old Sheltie 9 years ago . After months of brushing out his matted fur and reducing his weight , he looked healthy and was lively. I put Frontline drops on him a few times , and though I can't remember the time line , he did begin to suffer with his legs , and developed digestion problems and diarrhoea . He lasted 3 years with me , but the last year was his worst . 😮 I didn't know his medical history , but I wouldn't be surprised if the flea drops did have a negative reaction. Now , I've got 2 Romanian rescue dogs , both around 9 years old and healthy. No vet visits or treatments in the 6 years I've had them . No flea problem either .😊 🇬🇧♥️🇮🇱✝️
We fatten and slaughter cows sheep chicken ducks pigs goats rabbits for dog treats... in this world... and worry about invoierment . And our health. Crazy ..
These topical treatments don’t work anymore. Fleas have adapted to them. They used to work 20 years ago. I never got it on my skin though. Just a suggestion to those that have massive infestations: I found a kitten living in my garage that was covered in fleas. I covered her in coconut oil for 24 hours & it literally smothered all of them & the eggs never developed. You’ll obviously want to keep it in a cage to keep oil off your furniture, but I swear by it because it actually works. I bathed her afterwards with dawn & fleas never came back!
Thank you to all who recommended coffee for my pup that has had diarrhea for 2yrs - it worked like a charm! She is feeling so much better now & I am not stressed out!
I went to pick up $160.00 CAD bag of hypoallergenic dog food at the vet yesterday, and they told me its time for deworming and flea pills. I told them I heard Symparico is the third name for a puppy killing toxin; it changed because it was taken off the shelves for killing puppies😮. They argued big time! My backyard is gravel. My puppy doesn't have fleas, but they insist I treat him with chemicals 😡. Thank you so much, Dr. Jones, for everything you do for pets and their parents. 😅Siri, shut up 😊❤
@renee6708 Good for you! We are the defense and protection for our furry babies 🐶. I'm trying to educate myself as much as possible with the help of Dr. Jones.
@@CharlieOkeson My 11 year old terrier-mix was prescribed Symparica by my vet because I was looking for an alternative for the topical drops. She told me that Symparica was THE drug to prevent my dog from getting fleas and ticks. I felt a little iffy about giving him poison to swallow so Instead of giving 1 pill every 4-6 weeks (like my vet advised) I was waiting 8 weeks before the next dose. But after reading this.......😢..........I will throw away any pills I have left. Thank you for sharing your experience!
doc, I don't use any pesticides on my old dog, I just give it a warm bath, shampoo it with home made shampoo (water, vinegar, olive oil, soap), and let the puppy soak for a whole 5 minutes, with a warm towel on its body. Then I rinse, use a blow drier (the heat also kills flees if any survived), and I do this every 3-4 days. We have a large backyard, which is not sprayed with any toxins, not for weeds and not for anything, and yes, there are flees. But the treatment I do works for my puppy! After blow drying, I rub my hands in a little coconut oil (extra virgin, or more olive oil, also extra virgin), and then rub the oil into my puppy's skin and hair, and so I replace the oil that the shampoo washes away. Also, every time the puppy gets a bath, so every 3-4 days, I also wash the bedding in hot soap water, and tumble dry, again, the heat takes care of everything...
Get a large bag of diatomaceous earth food grade and dust your yard (carpet vacuum after 45 minutes), sprinkle it on the dog food 1/2 tsp in wet food, mix it good. You also can dust your dog/cat with diatomaceous earth food grade. Also sprinkled some in the litter box, mix it well Dogs that have itchy dry skin large dogs use 1 tablespoon of coconut oil 2- a day. Smaller 1- teaspoon 2x a day.
@@JEWELZTH-cam Oh my god please DO NOT EVER SPRINKLE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH ON YOUR PETS! Holy cow, no, no, no! Do you know if that powder gets into your dog's lungs, it will not clean out and can cause LUNG CANCER? I hope to god you have never done this to your dog! Please ask the vet for further information, oh my god!
@@GreenWitch1 This is a 15 minute job every 3-4 days. If you don't have this little time for your pet, maybe you need to change something. And I mean well, when I say this.
The persistence of advantage as you explain makes a lot of sense to me now. My dogs had a horrendous flea infestation in 2000 and I used advantage. It worked and I only used it that once, not at the full dosage and not monthly as suggested as that seemed like a money grab by the manufacturer. Still have the original package with most of the vials intact. Ive had quite a few other dogs in the 24 years since and not a single one has ever had fleas. I treated my cat once a few years later. Amazing stuff but didnt know it was so persistent and possibly linked to serious health issues. My vet did say at the time it was like an atomic bomb for fleas... well we know how healthy atomic bombs are for all living things and the environment. Thank you for exposing this.
@lagomorphia9 What do you use for your dogs? I've used Advantage quite a bit, but I've noticed diminished returns and it's the best of a bad bunch ( I didn't know it was so bad).
I use Neem and rose geranium oils. Put on collar and some drops on back of neck and near tail. I also use natural sprays like Wondercide. They do a great job. My dogs are 9 and 8 and no fleas. I only find ticks if I dont keep up on using the oils and sprays. I live in MN so i do this from April-October or so. I also bathe them more regularly. I stopped all the chemicals when my GSD was around 4 (he's 9). He was using the Seresto collar and had severe reactions that i didn't realize were from the collar year after year. Stay away from Seresto and chemical topicals and pills. You can manage with natural approaches.
@@olson.pamela Tell that to all the local vets. Lol. I don't believe you are correct on that. You can find plenty of articles and research to the contrary. Now maybe we are not as bad as some states and perhaps that's why it's never been an issue for us.
“Geraniums contain essential oils (linalool, gerinaol) which can cause gastrointestinal upset or skin irritation with exposure. Symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhea, depression or lethargy, anorexia (i.e. lack of appetite) and dermatitis. Geranium Is Toxic To Cats | Pet Poison Helpline®”
I used advantage on my dogs. It worked so well but all of those dogs I had back then ended up with cancer. One had these huge warts on his head and they grew in his throat. So sad. I'm so DONE with this poison . Its in every aspect of our lives!!!
remember our food, water and air (and all of our internal organs) have micro plastics in them now. As plastics age they release numerous carconogenic chemicals. And they are literally in our organs. It's no wonder cancer rates are increasing rapidly and the severity is also increasing. People just keep using plastic for food, drink containers and packaging and keep throwing it. Even recycling doesn't help. We need to eliminate uneccessary plastic from our lives.
My dog has the warts now where the insecticide was used and it doesn't even work any more, my last pup died from cancer of the head and neck. He was only 3 . It was so very sad. I adopted him and the people we got him from sprayed their lawn all the time with insecticide. The vet said it's more then likely the cause. He was even in tears when we put him down, it was so fast and so aggressive. Found tumors and he was blind within 3 weeks. There was nothing that could help. It's poisoning everyone. Spraying the lawn it ends up in our water and on your pets feet.
I had one dog with cancer and I never used flea preventative on him but he did get heartworm medicine. The good thing was that I had a great holistic vet here in Michigan and he was cured of metastatic cancer in 3 months! I had him another 3 years before I had to say goodbye to him. Can I have a cat that I lost last summer with intestinal lymphoma but I adopted her as a 13 year old and I have no idea on what she was given as far as flea preventative before I got her. I'll tell you though I still want to cry when I think about her. It's hard when you feel like you've done something that has caused your how to become sick and to suffer. I think that's the worst part of it 😢
@@Savannah-ed4rv yes. Theres so much deception in pharma its hard to navigate. I now have a gsd that has pannus and a huge anal gland tumor. I'm treating it alternatively and shes doing really good. So many stories. We learn as we go.
When my cat adopted me I used hartz flea medicine on her. A few hours later we were playing with her flatter and and she went into a seizure. It scared the hell out of me and I rushed her to the emergency vet. They eat all kinds of tests but couldn't find abnormalities but saw fleas and suggested a medicine. I told them about just using hartz and they said that was the problem. After researching it I was shocked that this is a known issue with that brand and they do nothing about it risking the health of pets.
I live in an area, CT, where most people are like walking CNN episodes. After the last 4 years, anyone who still " trusts the 'experts' " is lost and will never wake up.
How many other convenient things are actually harmful for us, animals and our environment? So many!Sometimes we just need to put the effort in for the best outcome. Thanks for covering this advice.
Wow, we've been giving our 6 Boxers brewers yeast in their food for nutritional purposes for years, and we've often marvelled at how flea-less they are! We ourselves add brewers yeast to our salads every day, and the nutrtional benefits are amazing! It's LOADED with B vitamins... truly a super food...
My dog is eight this year, I haven't used any chemicals on my dog since she was around 3 months old. I went down the natural root in the beginning because it is a lot cheaper. My Holly is very healthy and doesn't suffer from fleas or ticks. Many thanks to you Dr Andrew Jones, you are a hero.

Thank you for the info and I’m throwing out the treatment and getting Brewers Yeast. I sent this vlog to my family to deter them from using those treatments on my grandpups, newphewpups and niecepups.
That's wonderful timing! I'm glad you found the information helpful. It's great that you're sharing this knowledge with your family to keep all the pups safe. 😊
Thank you so much, Dr. Jones, for all the information you give. I appreciate that fenben dose suggestion for the infamous "c" word. Anyone who gives info that goes against the evil establishments is a hero. I pray you and your family is looked after.
5 years ago, I put some of that stuff on my cat and he couldn't walk for a week. Even when he started walking again, he struggled. It was a couple of months before he could walk normally again. I haven't used that stuff since.
I have used Advantage on both my cats , the first girl who has since passed lived till she was almost 21 was very healthy all through her life. My cat now has been having this treatment for over 5 year's and she is healthy ,sees the vet just once a year for check ups, they are always pleased with her. I will carry on using it.
We have a house full of dogs and don't have fleas, haven't seen a flea in years, we use cider vinegar in their drinking water, every time we change or refill their bowl we just put a capful in, works a treat, I of our dogs likes really cold water so whens it's been down a while it's not as cold so she won't drink it, she drinks out of the pond we have in the garden or if a bucket has rain water she will drink from that, so to help her I put 2 or 3 drops on her first meal of the day, they all get it in the summer months especially when it's warm. Try it, it doesn't need to be expensive, shops own table work, it's a lot cheaper than what you buy over the counter or from your vet. We swear by cider vinegar😊
I love the diatomaceous earth. At the first sign of fleas I used it on my dogs and their bedding. Since then we moved into a very old house and in a short time found that we had a lot of silver fish. I sprinkled the diatomaceous earth in all the cupboards and around the skirting boards. We are coming up to our third year here now and I have not seen another silver fish. The dog's fleas have never returned either.
I made a huge mess all over my house, garage and back porch with DE one year. I left it for a couple days and then worked on cleaning it up. Messy, but it broke the life cycle of the flea infestation we had.
@@bahba9247 A youtube comment CHANGED my life about applying DE - you can mix it with water and put it in a handheld sprayer (I bought a couple of them on Amazon for like $25 or less) and then misted it all over the outside of the house, my yard, gardens, the pets beds, the nooks and crannies inside. When it dries, you'll see the powder left behind. It's SO MUCH LESS MESSY!
@@rosewatson7163 If you get DE wet, then it stops working. The reason that DE works is the little sharp bits on the particles, which destroy the exoskeleton of the bugs. When DE gets wet, the water destroys the sharp edges of the DE particles and renders it useless.
I have not used any chemicals for fleas, ticks or heart worms for my dogs for decades .I have occasionally had to battle fleas. But I have never had any issues with ticks and i have never had a dog acquire heart worms. All of my dogs have lived beyond their life expectancies and I have never had a dog acquire cancer.

@@Meskarune I have had a total of six dogs in the state of Texas. A Golden Retriever that lived to the age of 13, a Shetland Sheepdog that only lived to seven due to complications of inbreeding, a Maltese that lived to 15, a mixed breed dog that lived to 12, and my two dogs that are still with me a 17 year old Chihuahua and a 1 year old Maltese. None of these dogs have ever tested positive for Heartworms. I am not telling anyone to stop using Heartworm preventatives. I am just stating that I do not and it has never been an issue. I take my dogs to a vet on a regular basis. They are tested for heartworms every 6 months. I do everything I can to protect my dogs and keep them healthy. They live in my home and are kept clean. I am also cautious with vaccines.
@@margiewalker1808 My aunt and neighbors all had their dogs get heartworm. It's caused by mosquitoes so if you are in an area with a lot of them the risk is high. I lived in Houston suburb and then dallas/fort worth. Parvo was also really common and I knew tons of people who's dogs got that. Heartworm though is a horrible disease, the dog's heart literally gets worms living in their heart. I wouldn't risk it.
I really believe that these topicals caused my dog to develop IMHA . She’s 9 years old, but I’m so thankful it was caught it early and her treatments have been successful and is now in remission
I gave my Husky, Bravecto, at 5 years old. This a common tick and flea pesticide reccomended by vets in South Africa. It lasts for a bout 3 months once given to your dog so you do not have to repeat montly. It is given in the form of a "chew" flavoured tablet and not put on the neck. Its also really expensive. Thinking the more expensive, well known brand, would be safe for my dog. She had her first seizure about 2 months after her first Bravecto, with elevated liver enzymes ( Typically seen when a dog has ingested something they are not supposed to). Her enzymes were not elevated enough to cause "concern", so I was told. A few days later, second seizure. She immediatly got put on seizure medication and I lost her last year, 3 years after her first seizure, due to liver failure. I was beyond angry with my vets and Bravecto. I will never ever give it to any of my dogs again. Most vets here in SA still say its safe to you and prescribe it. Once its ingested the damage is already done. There is nothing they can do once the liver starts failing.
OMG! I’ve just used this on my cat. Bought it, recommended from the vets. First time in 5 years she’s ever had fleas. And I was reluctant to use it but didn’t know there were any other options and how awful to have something crawling on you all day. We’ve just lost her wonderful loving brother from feline aids 😢. And she’s been so sad and different. Won’t come in the house except to quickly eat, then she started twitching and I found a flea on her so thought that was contributing to her unusual behaviour, apart from her grieving.. It was bad enough loosing him, if I lose her because of this , I’ll never forgive myself. I’m not having any more pets, it’s just too distressing 😢
Great information and most appreciated. Years ago I used brewers yeast on my 2 GSD;s and never , ever was concerned about fleas. People have become immune to some of the old ways that work unfortunately. Thank you.
I too had the flea infestation through out my house with five cats and one dog. Even tried Orkin company 🥴. Saw an article about sweeping everyday and lightly sprinkling 20 muleteam borax on all places the animals went. After training them all for a flea comb and treat in morning, the vigilant routine worked. Just remember to dump sweeper bag after each go round. The Borax dried up the larvae, and disposing of the bag contents outside got rid of the active ones.
My husband worked for a pest control company. Ever since then we swore off flea medicine. He learned that the same drug that kills termites are in these drugs. That ingredient causes seizures. Our dog developed seizures after giving flea med. she eventually died of a seizure. We do what he’s saying. I bathe my sweet chihuahua regularly but not daily and I use a nit comb to remove fleas. She’s not infested, her skin is good and she likes her daily combing.
We live in a heavy flea, tick, & heartworm area. Had pets die from tick bite illness and heartworm and so have to use Nexgard. Frontline & Advantage stopped working. I hate to use chemicals. Also do the diatomaceous/vacuuming/coconut oil. With multiple cats & dogs (unofficial rescue), we can't have another infestation. I hate having to use nexgard but the parasites are overwhelming.
My perfectly healthy 3 year old Presa Canario had a fipronil treatment, she had a seizure the night after the treatment, and then she developed very very aggressive lymphoma and leukemia and passed away about 5 weeks after the treatment. Fipronil was banned in the EU for agricultural use as there was a increased incidents of farm workers in vineyards getting leukemia and lymphomas, fipronil was used for spraying on the vines.
My cats change where they sleep several times a week. I can't keep up with them! I live on the coast and it's humid and temperate, fleas love it! Here we go again, diatomaceous earth dusting, and certain herbs like cat nip repels fleas. I can't get my fur kids to eat brewer's yeast, it's gross I used to choke it down yuk! But I do it for my fur babies. I found that a couple of tablespoons of soy lecithin in my smoothie repels fleas that jump on me. I used to get bites all over my legs; when I used soy lecithin in my smoothies, the fleas would jump on my legs, and immediately jump off! I don't know if it would be safe or would work for fur kids. Dr. Jones is a god send!
Please make sure you’re only using organic when it comes to soy. Monsanto, who was bought out by Bayer years ago, owns 90% of the soybean crops in the U.S. They continue to douse the soybean crops with Roundup (glyphosate). I avoid anything that contains soy unless it’s organic. It’s in salad dressings, bread crumbs, in hundreds of different foods now. Also avoid carrageenan, a carcinogen banned in the UK showing up in human food now and is also in some brands of canned cat and dog food. Please be safe 🙏🏻
@@BooBooCatsMom Yes you are so right! I avoid soy when I can because it's phytoestrogen - which is normally a good thing- I've found increases my hormone levels, and when they drop, I get a migraine with aura. I have found lecithin doesn't do that, but you never know. We sure don't need glyphosate in our food supply at all. Thanks for reminding me of this.
Colloidal Silver seems to be a natural flea deterrent. I have put home brewed silver in my pet’s water since 2018 and have 9 cats and four dogs who have not seen a flea since but I didn’t put two and two together until recently. When I did make a connection I did some research and found many other people who have had the same experience. I began doing this after successfully treating the cat colony with silver for an upper respiratory infection. My animals have never been sick since.
thank you for your common sense approach to animal care; when i had my first dog, in the 80s-90s, we did not have all these products. We gave garlic and brewers yeast internally and sometimes we used a flea collar. I always had cats and it was very rare that they got fleas even when they went out with me. About 3 years ago, I adopted a dog and noticed that the fleas are worse than ever b/c of climate changes, rain, but i suspect they also have evolved b/c my vet reported that even dogs and cats that used the toxic stuff were getting fleas last Fall! We need to stop with all these pesticides!
I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this but I was wiping my short hair down with apple cider vinegar using a microfiber cloth and the cloth was trapping fleas in the cloth. Figured I'd share.
My cats and dogs do not like this flea treatment at all. If my cat just sees the box, he is gone for the day. I only use it once a year during spring when there is a massive spike in sand fleas and it is just everywhere. I do all the other things that Dr Jones suggests, daily combing, washing of blankets, catnip and I will plant some thyme all over the garden. Thank you!
Yes NO MORE POISIONS!!!! In my dog , in myself, my family or in my home and yard. And this was recommended by our vet....We are now using the Tickless ultra sonic clip on tool (Petco, $39.99) and Dr. Mercola's Flea & Tick Defense (essential oils.) I also do daily flea checks on my rescue.
My cat seems to love to self-medicate by chewing on the catnip plant. I've also seen her rubbing her face in some yarrow, which is another medicinal herb.
I was dealing with fostering, TNR, strays and my own cats. Thought I was doing them all a favor with the drops for multiple issues like fleas, ticks, ear mites. Got quantity discounts online. Then I started noticing my own cats not seeming right for a day or two after treatment, so I stopped. I'm so grateful for Dr. Jones free info! Thank you Thank you!
If I could ask doctor one question it would be: "how can I tell if my old dog is ok, or silently is he suffering?". Thank you for getting us thru kennel cough. Now my old dog had a bump that burst thru the skin (got a vet appointment for Monday).
We've never and will never use any chemical tick/flea treatments on our dogs, I'm even wary of so called "natural" treatments until I've thoroughly research them, or they're recommended by Dr Jones. We've never vaccinated our dogs or fed them high carb kibble either, and they've never been ill (yet)...they are 10yrs and 13yrs old. So I'm confident we're doing the right things for 'our' dogs!
I used to find my cat and dog hanging out under some bay laurel trees during flea season. Bay is an excellent flea repellent. I brought some branches in the house and they would lay on them
I make my own soap. I use coconut oil ,olive oil, avocado pits charcoal. Along with other additives such as mint oil, orage oil patchouli oil ect.... my dog is a 100lb 17 year old pitbull and I've never felt the need to poison her, i love her. She is very active and loves to swim in creeks rivers and mud puddles . She also sleeps in my bed so she takes as many showers as i do .after we've been running in the woods all day I'll check her for ticks and bath her ive never fould more than a fle or two on her and my house is clean. So yes no need to poison your family.
I used the improved Frontline on my dog about 5 years ago. He got a rash a temperature and the skin on his pads became dry and peeled off. The Vet gave him meds and asked if the groomer had used different shampoo which she hadnt. It was only later when I read that many owners had reported their dogs becoming ill having seizures and even dying as a result of using Frontline. I havent used flea treatment since I dont see the point of treating my dog for fleas if he hasnt got them. I myself can vouch for Brewers yeast. I used to go camping a lot and got vitten like crazy. I started taking Brewers yeast daily and no bites.
Keeping the humidity below 50% controls fleas. I’ve found 40% achievable and it seems to also kill fleas on the cat too. The low humidity also improves air quality.
@@montanaminck2226 Definitely need air conditioning there. Try restricting your efforts to a part of house, and keep your cat in that part. The living area would be best.
greedy corporations, large meat and dairy produces and farming conglomerates need to be held accountable for the polution of our rivers with pesticides/insecticides and forever chemicals.
I used Advantage II topical on my cats for the first and last time last year. Not only did it do nothing to repel or kill fleas, but it caused a chemical burn on the skin of one of my cats at the site of application. The stress from the burn then caused him to start overgrooming and he removed most of the fur from his tummy and leg area. Never again.
HI DR. JONES, YOU ARE OUR DOGS' & OUR HERO!!! THANK YOU!!! I DIDN'T JOIN YOUR WEBCAST LAST NIGHT AFTER SIGNING UP HONESTLY BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE HOW TO! SO I HOPE YOU HAVE A VIDEO ON GRAIN FREE DOG FOODS & WHICH ARE THE BEST FOR OUR DOGS'! JUST SAYIN'. ALSO, THANK YOU FOR THE INFO ABOUT THE FLEAS & TICK MEDS. ALWAYS STAY FROSTY & GOD BLESS!
Stopped using chemical flea tx years ago, after noticing my pets acted unwell in the weeks following use, and then looking up the chemicals and the actual mechanisms involved. I realized the comparable human medicine would be cancer chemotherapy, and couldn’t justify that harsh level of toxicity simply to avoid what is more of a cosmetic and convenience issue, than a life threatening health issue for my pets. My holistic vet showed me how to remove fleas by daily consistent combing. I was skeptical this could work, but I’ve found it actually does fully eliminate fleas, and am willing to take 10-15 min a couple times a day for a couple weeks, if one of them gets the beginnings of a flea infestation. That’s what I’ve done for years now, and I’ve only had to do it every couple years or so. Some years, there are no fleas at all on any of them, despite them all having lots of outdoor time. It’s important to be observant and catch any colonization by fleas, early, while there’s only a few of them. The combing routine is much shorter duration and simpler early in the infestation. A larger infestation can also be removed, but takes a much longer period of consistent combing, and the combing sessions themselves are going to be longer. You also must have an effective flea comb. I’ve tried several types, and found the one with very close set, rounded, metal teeth, is the only one that reliably picks up any fleas in its path and holds them so I can rinse them off in my dish of soapy water. That’s important, as it considerably shortens combing time and avoids having captured fleas escape, to return to the pet.
Borax in your carpet and on your furniture leave half hour and vacuum. sprinkle in the bedding. In the box product needs to be pulverized to powder to work best--will still work but works better as a powder.
Dr Jones: I'm guessing this also applies for fipronil based flea treatments? These don't work on Turkish fleas, so I had stopped using it a long time ago (also in 2017, there was the Fipronil contaminated eggs controversy. Millions of eggs had to be destroyed, huge fines, sanctions, huge news. They use(d?) fipronil with chickens to combat mites. I was like if it's so bad for us, why are we allowed to give it to our cat/dog friends and family?) Also another question; most stray cats here don't get any flea treatment ever in their life. (I've only given drops to a few cats who clearly suffered from itching and lots of visible fleas. Definitely will only use herbal stuff from now on) On a priority list, how important is it to de-flea stray cats? I know about 600+ stray cats in my neighbourhood here in Istanbul. 😿
I've had cats that kept having seizures because of flea treatments. One cat even died after having a seizure that she never recovered from. I'd rather put up with the fleas than have my cats die from seizures.
Very good points. Decades ago there was a big controversy in the UK about the use of organophosphates in sheep dips used on farms to keep sheep tick and parasite free. Sheep were developing neurological issues and it was traced to the sheep dip. I used flea treatments on my cats regularly regardless of whether fleas were present, until i found out that the compound was an organophosphate. I stopped using them unless my cats actually had fleas. I found it just as effective to use at first signs of fleas, it still prevented infestation in the house. All it needed from me was a bit of observation. In the end, i barely had to use the drops, maybe a couple times a year and only in flea season. As long as my house was kept flea free, so were the cats. A lot of the issue comes down to whether or not people are paying attention to their animals. I knew what my cats' baseline was, so i knew right away if they were scratching more than usual and i know how to check for fleas. I also get bitten by fleas myself, so i have that extra motivation to keep flea free pets and home!
Also asking about heartworm prevention! I’ve been trying some of these natural methods and they work well for fleas. However I’m concerned about heartworm. I haven’t been giving my dog triflixs for a few months bc my dog throws it up. Unfortunately I’m in a state that’s high risk for mosquitoes and heartworm. Should I switch to heart guard?
I use lavender and lemongrass on my pets, a few drops between the shoulders and above the tail a few times a week, I also give a spray on my pets coat before a walk or venturing outside of organic unpasteurised naturally fermented apple cider viniger mixed with water, it has to be with ' the mother' as without means the good bacteria has been filtered out,
Dr Jones, thank you for taking the time to research and provide us with all this useful information for our pets. You may have saved many pets from illnesses or even desth. And Tula is just adorable! She loves being in front of the camera! 😻😻😻
My cat is kind of feral, she doesn't cooperate. Ans she sleeps in a cardboard box, doesn't care for soft beds... I could get those plants and put them in the yard but she makes her rounds all over the neighbourhood where I have no control. But if those drugs harm her I'm not using them on her again, she's my treasure. I'll have to look into the few options that I can try in this case. Thank you!
Love your natural approach to treating pets. 5 dogs in our nieghbourhood have died in the last 2 years from cancer. Could you please do a vid on natural tick repellent!🙏
My dog loved coconut oil!! I used it on his pawpads and found it healthy for my skin! Thank you for addressing the toxic poisons used for "convenience".
Thank you! Between this video and the great comments from others, I have learned a lot! Something I didn't see mentioned yet are the flea eating nematodes. You can buy them and just sprinkle them around outside. They eat fly and flea larvae.
🚨‼️Warning about diatomaceous earth: If inhaled it can cause severe lung issues including bubbles on lungs. I would not risk applying it topically on dogs or cats, and it should not be placed where they may breathe it in. I knew a beautiful dog who died from a bubble on his lung due to diatomaceous earth, food grade. It also turns to a sort of slime when damp or wet and doesn't return to powder form when it dries. It will ruin your vacuum cleaner and it's nearly impossible to get out of carpets.
Yes they knew for sure. There are warnings on diatomaceous earth. I use it now in areas in the garage which are not accessible to my dog. If you Google "dangers of diatomaceous earth exposure to lungs" you will see detailed warnings and consequences of inhalation.
I have used DE for years for fleas and all sorts of bugs around my house. I have put it on my dogs previously, heavily, to get rid of fleas also. I have dusted with it in my RVs and rental properties we have owned. It has always worked well and I have never had any animal have any issues. It is the only "pesticide" I will use in my own home. Everything else is toxic.
High probability that they were not using food-grade DE. I can see this happening if that was the case. You should still use it sparingly and mask up / keep the animasl away from it until it settles. Otherwise, food-grade DE is about the most effective, safest form of general pesticide out there!
I have firsthand knowledge that they used food grade only diatomaceous earth because I also used it on their dog while at their home before the tragedy. We were all aware of the importance of using food grade only. It's not hard to find on the internet verifications that diatomaceous earth can cause bubbles on lungs, which is from what that immensely, incredibly wonderful dog sadly died. I thought it important to warn others, hadn't anticipated unnecessary arguments, denials of the reality or theories. Personally, I will never use it again on any animal for any reason.
I've been giving brewer's yeast to my pets for years as an all round conditioner. Fleas have never been a problem, and I've never used chemical pesticides. I take brewer's yeast myself because it's full of B vitamins and I've never had fleas either 😁
Diatomaceous earth works to treat floors - sprinkle a fine layer over everything, it dehydrates fleas. Can combine with salt for more of a dehydrating effect.
For flee-eggs you can clean the floor with a water-vinegar solution. The calcium of the egg-shells will dissolve. You can use it on a tile floor. Wood: be careful with the coating. Carpet: the smell will stay for days. Better vacuum-clean everyday, esp the pillows or beds. Also tiles outside the house will benefit from it, the eggs fall also off outside the house. Another way of getting rid of flee-eggs is to use a floor-steamer. We also use an organic dishwasher soap once a while to have a bath. One bath = twice using the soap. It helps to keep things under control. 😊
Topical flea treatment isn't the only way this is getting into water. It's not good for your pets, but it's not what the big contributor to the contamination of water is. Every bug killer, crop, home, ant trap, termite treatment, roach exterminator and mosquitoe/ yard spray is.
I use a natural shampoo with neem oil & lavender oil in it once a fortnight & in between I spray the dogs with a mix of a pint of water, 10 drops lavender oil & 10 drops neem oil shake before each use & lightly mist them before brushing through. They smell lovely. I used to used it on my kids to prevent headlice too - works brilliantly 😊
There isn’t mention of IGR inhibitor for the flea eggs or prevent fleas from maturing then repeating the cycle. Adam’s shampoo is the only one I’ve found with IGR. After a flea infestation this helped over Dawn. Used a flea hut that has a light and sticky paper to see if there were any we missed. It was the only way I was certain they were finally gone. This video was very informative for ideas. Didn’t know that the herbs could help. Ordered some seeds. Thanks :)
I read a book in the 1980s about not doing this as well as other tips about what we feed our pets. I can’t remember the name of the woman who wrote the book. But it was fabulous because I love animals and I rescue animals. She talked about how dog and cat food is made, and the atrocious things that are thrown in with the dog food such as twist ties from the daily donuts, etc. Gosh, I wish I could remember her name, but I learned a lot and my pets is healthy unloved as could be.
I use to use those topical treatments but I stopped years ago once I learned how dangerous they are. I’ve had two dogs in a row that developed seizures with no known cause but I believe it’s possible that it could have been due to using those topical flea treatments. I now use more natural non chemical spray on types. Thank you for making this video and for the examples of what to use instead.
I learned that orange peel is supposed to kill them in every life cycle immediately. Some people recommend.fermenting orange peel for a few days then using the orange infused vinegar to rinse their dogs in.
I dont use pesticides on my kitty because for unknown reason she just doesnt have fleas and after I used it on my sienor kitty several years ago he had a mini stroke and didnt make it through the year 😢 I appreciate that your getting out this message 🎉
I stopped using flea treatment years ago when I found that my one dog was suffering seizures or at least muscle spasms a week or so after application. I keep a tick twister in the car and at home and check my dogs, keep them out of high grasses. They have not had a tick problem.
Just had my cat at the vet yesterday for excessive scratching and grooming. As I knew he did not have fleas. The vet was very interested in telling me how healthy he was and sharing info about his breed but then, at the very end recommended Revolution monthly treatment And.... "Can we give Fluffly a Rabies vaccine today?" I said, no, don't think I am interested. She said well if it's an issue of economics.... I said no, our semi rural property is well fenced and they are older and stick close to the house. She then turned very aggressive and said "So you want to endanger my staff?" in front of the tech who was in the room holding my cat. I was gobsmacked and totally caught off guard. She turned on a dime and said the same thing again and I told her I would not be endangering her staff with my pets anymore. She then said, she wasn't going to 'go there' and left the room. I told the tech, the same companies that make shots for ppl, make them for animals and that I did not appreciate the hard push, especially after the last three years and what is now coming out about the c shots. I was FURIOUS. This intimidation tactic was the SAME Crap the MDs pulled on millions of ppl who have no understanding of the Agenda and Money behind the vacc issues. They are Incentivized to push them!! I did not take the vax and knew from previous research they are not tested properly and it's one big pharma racket to cull the herds. Read Many scientific and MD books on this topic before and after wooflu episode. Also had a cat die at 8 years from some mysterious illness which I suspected was from the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus shots. I had smoke coming out of my ears. Anonymously sending her a copy of Robert Kennedy's book 'The Real Anthony Fauci' which can knock even the most brainwashed person on the floor. Cheers.
I am so sorry and a sympathize. We don't vaccinate at all because my son reacted so bad to only one injected and one oral at 2 months old. Never again. And I don't even take him to the doctor unless he's sick enough to go. I take him to the dentist at least twice a year but he hasn't been such enough to need a doctor since he recovered from the vaccines. Whooping cough, flu, covid, no doctors needed. Imagine that...
There is nothing coming out about the C shots. Vaccines prevent multitudes of childhood deaths. The protection from those diseases depends upon nobody being able to host the disease. It is people who do get the disease who cause it to develop resistances and spread. You can say what you want, but if it were not for everyone else being vaccinated, your children would be very unsafe. Do you know how contagious measles is, and how many children it used to kill and maim? Same with polio and the others we vaccinate for. There is a lot of pseudo-science on the internet, as well as profiteering by drug companies. Vaccines existed before the profiteers came along to abuse the system that provides them, and they exist because they save lives. The reason that a hugely disproportionate number of people in the US died from COVID was because they did not get vaccinated due to falsehoods and fear mongering. The vaccines are quite effective, they do not ‘change the dna or rna’ as has been claimed. There have been a few thousand people with negative reactions, which should be expected when literally millions of people worldwide were vaccinated within a single year. These days, most significant vaccine statistics collection takes place over decades, but the COVID vaccine has not been around that long yet.
I'm so sorry to hear that.
@@VeterinarySecrets what is your advice on procession caterpillars.
No vaccines either I hope.
I found out the hard way many years ago while living in Florida. These 'medicines' are POISON!!!!
Yup! Same with the seresto collars. Problem is people don’t believe you when you telll them. 😳
I stopped listening when he said he takes diamearth for "deworming" HIMSELF! Is this another Kennedy?
Thank you for your telling the truth. I’ve been trying to tell people. Had dogs that got sick from this poison.
I carried that precious dog for 7 years before I finally lost her 2 years ago.......RIP RileyRooster,I miss you still SO MUCH💔
Btw.....the vet adamantly denied that it was the flea drops that caused my dog to almost die🤦♀️
😭❤️🙏
@jillm9801 I'm so sorry for what you had to go thru, made me cry reading your comment.....
Please don't blame yourself~!! It's not your fault. You trusted your vet, who's supposed to know what's best,,you aren't to blame🌻
RIP sweet little Mia🙏🏻🩷
Thank you.
👍👍👍
My old school vet, Cornell 68, said to start with a tiny drop. If you find ticks, use another tiny drop. He said there was absolutely no need to use an entire tube each month, and it was just a marketing gimmick.
Thats good to know. We have 9 cats so this will save me a lot of money
@@justins3810 exactly! Cover the opening of the tube with tape so it doesn't dry up.
@@justins3810 you are still going to use this poison, rather than safe methods?
Do you know roughly how long is a small drop effective for? When we have to board my dog at a hotel, those places usually require a flea preventative and it’ll be nice not to use the whole tube on him.
That's not very smart advice. You won't want any Ticks on your Dogs to begin with

@@dreamarcher4018 I think so too!! My vet checked with a comb etc and could not find anything either. He wanted to sell me different things as well...
Yes, the look in the very expressive eyes of my sweet cat minutes after applying this crap was Horror. I had no doubt it was the insecticide treatment

Yep. It got banned on film sets for this reason. It is NOT to be inhaled so do not let it get airborne.

I do not use any flea, tick or heartworm prevention. They are toxic... Years ago, when I trusted my then veterinarian, I trusted him and always did whatever he told me to do. It hurts my heart when I think back.
heartworm will cause your dog to cough and it will eventually block the heartvalves and kill your dog. They used to treat it with arsenic, this was effective.
Well -- yes, they're toxic. Most medicines are (see 'chemo'). Its a balance between killing the bacteria/renegade cells/tick and killing the patient.
Yes it was. My boss sprayed Termidor in our dental office to kill ants .its same as Frontline

What’s the recipe, please?
OMG, I'm so so sorry
That's now got me thinking.
I adopted a 10 year old Sheltie 9 years ago . After months of brushing out his matted fur and reducing his weight , he looked healthy and was lively.
I put Frontline drops on him a few times , and though I can't remember the time line , he did begin to suffer with his legs , and developed digestion problems and diarrhoea . He lasted 3 years with me , but the last year was his worst . 😮
I didn't know his medical history , but I wouldn't be surprised if the flea drops did have a negative reaction.
Now , I've got 2 Romanian rescue dogs , both around 9 years old and healthy. No vet visits or treatments in the 6 years I've had them .
No flea problem either .😊

These topical treatments don’t work anymore. Fleas have adapted to them. They used to work 20 years ago. I never got it on my skin though.
Just a suggestion to those that have massive infestations: I found a kitten living in my garage that was covered in fleas. I covered her in coconut oil for 24 hours & it literally smothered all of them & the eggs never developed. You’ll obviously want to keep it in a cage to keep oil off your furniture, but I swear by it because it actually works. I bathed her afterwards with dawn & fleas never came back!

I see you met some brain injected believers of the medical corp. Some doctors are exactly that.
doc, I don't use any pesticides on my old dog, I just give it a warm bath, shampoo it with home made shampoo (water, vinegar, olive oil, soap), and let the puppy soak for a whole 5 minutes, with a warm towel on its body.
Who has time to bath their pets every 3-4 days 😮 Apparently, you do & good for you, but most people don’t.

I treated my cat once a few years later. remember our food, water and air (and all of our internal organs) have micro plastics in them now.
He was even in tears when we put him down, it was so fast and so aggressive. Found tumors and he was blind within 3 weeks. There was nothing that could help. It's poisoning everyone.

I'm certainly not giving flea and worm treatment every 3 months, way too much. I used to give treatment twice a year and there was never a problem.
Same here. I have rescues that live outside that I want to protect. It’s bad where I live.
Are you in the UK?
We need to stop with all these pesticides!
garlic is bad for dogs
@channel23753thank you I have a senior cat , I hoped isn't suffering . Seems she is slowly going but still interacts and eats
Do you give them medication for lungworm, I'd appreciate some advice on this as not sure what to do for the best as I know how dangerous it can be

Lumps, bumps and cysts, came out on my dogs after I used the Advantage 3 one time on them!!!

Thanks for sharing! 😊
I was like if it's so bad for us, why are we allowed to give it to our cat/dog friends and family?)
Also another question; most stray cats here don't get any flea treatment ever in their life.
Were you using dog flea meds on your cats? That's usually the cause of seizures in cats.
Found your shorts last night. Made my own citrus concoction and oregano and ACV spray. Ill grow Thyme. Thanks for your help.
What do you suggest using to prevent heartworm infection? Fleas and tics miserable but manageable, however mosquitoes are a plague.
Garlic in the food. But also ivermectin monthly. That’s what I would do if I lived in a heavily infested area with a high risk of heartworm.

🚨‼️Warning about diatomaceous earth:
If inhaled it can cause severe lung issues including bubbles on lungs.
They knew for sure it was from that and not a health defect of the lungs? The research & studies they’ve done on it shows no adverse effects to lungs.
Give a lecture against all the yards that are treated with round up and other chemicals like that please do that and save more animals
And humans!
Thank you Dr Jones...you are awesome! We appreciate you. Much love from Palm Coast Florida ✌️🇺🇲🌴
Grow Catnip, let your cat roll around in it. Thyme works also, and you can put some in your dog or cat's food. Great tips!
My beautiful cat never had fleas, and I grew Catnip in the garden. He used to eat it and lay on/around it.
Topical flea treatment isn't the only way this is getting into water. It's not good for your pets, but it's not what the big contributor to the contamination of water is. Every bug killer, crop, home, ant trap, termite treatment, roach exterminator and mosquitoe/ yard spray is.
Yes, that’s more likely to be the cause - people who pay a poison company to exterminate every insect and spider from their property.
Thanks :)
Can you plz shed some light on tick+flea prevention oral medications? Are they safe to administer? Especially worried about deadly ticks.

I now use more natural non chemical spray on types. Thank you for making this video and for the examples of what to use instead.

I'm happy to say I didn't even recognize that thing on the thumbnail.
Cheers.

@weekend, thanks for posting your interesting comment.I’m sorry you had to go through that.I agree with you 💯.
The vet gave my dog Bravecto and she was sick for days. Throwing up. What made it worse was she had had hip surgery a month before. Never again.
