If CC walks away and the attendance and tv viewership pulls back to where it was last year, the league would lose its leverage when it comes to signing its next tv broadcasting deal, so the players would continue to see small salaries. If the WNBA continues on a $200M revenue track, the players will never be able to bargain for 50/50 revenue split. The league already loses money so until the TV rights deals start to generate larger deals and the league revenue increases to around $500m, a 50/50 split is completely out of question. CC is bringing in viewers and rather than abusing her, the players and the league should realize what her presence means for the WNBA.

100% agree. Can't stand the NBA, and have tried to watch a WNBA game without CC in it, but could only watch about a half. That was so I could watch Kate Martin with Vegas, but I did like watching Wilson. To bad she is such a head case as well. She could have been a good face for the league until CC was given that opportunity.
I'm 46 and was in the same boat as you until this season. I first heard of CC in March and have watched more of her teams playing basketball since then than I've watched in over 30 years. I haven't watched any NBA games regularly since the end of the Bird and Magic era.
Got you beat by a couple of years but basically the same story. Now I watched several college women's games when Pat Summitt's Lady Vols were winning their 7 National Championships but only three or four after the girls went pro. Candace Parker was one of my favorites. The Fever's best player before CC was a former Lady Vol and she has spoken up for her. After watching the final four and the energy her play creates in any arena I became a fan. Now I'm a Fever fan and try to catch every replay. And her assists rival her points, proving she has a team mindset. Didn't mean to ramble.

Notice that a lot of attendance records are actually ever since records? Like largest attendance at fill in the blank arena in 22 years or whatever. So in the beginnng, the WNBA had just as much support as they do now. At least in their home territories. I never watched more than 5 minutes of a WNBA game, but not I've watched a couple of them and have my DVR setup to record some up coming games. I'm a recently returned fan of the WNBA. In the 1990s, we attended Charlotte Sting games. We quit paying attention when the team moved on or went away, whichever it was. Watching Caitlin Clark in the NCAA tournament for a few years has been intriguing, and got me to watch as she transitioned to the WNBA. What I've noticed is petty jealousy, old slow players who can't keep up with Caitlin's pace, and the most asinine political crap being gaslit as excuses. I don't give a damn about race, gender, sexual orientation, or any of that noise when I watch a game. I turn it on to watch an entertaining GAME. Period. I just want to see an exciting game, no matter who plays it. If I wanted boring, I'd watch NFL or MLB. Watching Clark help transform the Fever into playoff participants has been fascinating. She's generationally transformative in multiple dimensions. Her selflessness, basketball IQ, skills, and talent are all off the charts. Honestly, I think that scares the old guard fart-less. The Fever have developed styles of play and so many options that can hurt an opponent. A lot of the old guard don't like that disruption! They complain that Caitlin crashed the party, by trying to crash her. But there's a new wave of players coming along in the next few years who should add diversity to the league and hasten the retirement of those who can't keep up.

CC can only represent USA in Olympics. According to FIBA rule, a player cannot switch national team if they have represented a country after the age of 17. CC did play in U-19 teamUSA. Thus she cannot represent any country other than USA in FIBA tournaments. Olympic women basketball follows FIBA rules.

She is great despite her teammates... yet she has 112 turnovers in which you would knock her for it - but in reality well over 50 percent of them are passes or plays to get her teammates involved and scoring. time after time her team mates cannot catch the pass from her... mitchell with 6 years and wheeler with 8 years of wnba experience should be able to catch a pass from CC and also capable of dishing to her when she is open.... 100% agree. Can't stand the NBA, and have tried to watch a WNBA game without CC in it, but could only watch about a half. That was so I could watch Kate Martin with Vegas, but I did like watching Wilson. To bad she is such a head case as well. I'm 46 and was in the same boat as you until this season. I first heard of CC in March and have watched more of her teams playing basketball since then than I've watched in over 30 years. I haven't watched any NBA games regularly since the end of the Bird and Magic era.
Got you beat by a couple of years but basically the same story. Now I watched several college women's games when Pat Summitt's Lady Vols were winning their 7 National Championships but only three or four after the girls went pro. Candace Parker was one of my favorites. The Fever's best player before CC was a former Lady Vol and she has spoken up for her. After watching the final four and the energy her play creates in any arena I became a fan. Now I'm a Fever fan and try to catch every replay. And her assists rival her points, proving she has a team mindset. Didn't mean to ramble.

I'm a recently returned fan of the WNBA. In the 1990s, we attended Charlotte Sting games. We quit paying attention when the team moved on or went away, whichever it was. Watching Caitlin Clark in the NCAA tournament for a few years has been intriguing, and got me to watch as she transitioned to the WNBA. What I've noticed is petty jealousy, old slow players who can't keep up with Caitlin's pace, and the most asinine political crap being gaslit as excuses. I don't give a damn about race, gender, sexual orientation, or any of that noise when I watch a game. I turn it on to watch an entertaining GAME. Period. I just want to see an exciting game, no matter who plays it. If I wanted boring, I'd watch NFL or MLB. Watching Clark help transform the Fever into playoff participants has been fascinating. She's generationally transformative in multiple dimensions. Her selflessness, basketball IQ, skills, and talent are all off the charts. Honestly, I think that scares the old guard fart-less. The Fever have developed styles of play and so many options that can hurt an opponent. A lot of the old guard don't like that disruption! They complain that Caitlin crashed the party, by trying to crash her. But there's a new wave of players coming along in the next few years who should add diversity to the league and hasten the retirement of those who can't keep up.

After the WNBA came into existence I quickly stopped watching the NBA because it was not about teams but individuals. Dunking became so-o-o-o boring. I am a great fan of Caitlin Clark because she has skills far above other players, both male and female. But, what makes her exceptional is the her support of her teammates, both at Iowa and now with the Fever.
I believe if Caitlin were black, she would have been excepted from the start. But because she isnt and all the media, especially men, love her game, a lot of WNBA players are simply jealous. And what's wrong with little white girls liking Clark? Tiger Wood, Lewis Hamilton, and Bubba Stewart drew black kids to those sports. A female friend told me that women hate when men in the room give all the attention to one woman. That may be what's going on here, too.... Caitlin belongs on the Olympic team, If the WNBA cares anything about being self sufficient.
if CC didnt come in with big deals in hand, they would say nothing. but CC used her smart's to lock down deal's BEFORE she even played a pro game. too bad these older player's didnt have the savy or popularity to pull it off.
I used to respect Elle. Now she's just another biased, blathering anchor who doesn't understand shit about what's happening here. All previous wnba players came out of the NCAA, right? So why didn't any of them set the all-time scoring record? They weren't as good (scoring, obviously), and that deficiency is what drives the hating on Kaitlyn.
Caitlin Clark can prove it on the court. If you don't want the fans, the money, the notoriety, and everything else Clark can bring to EVERYONE in the WNBA... just dump on Clark, run off her fans, and go back to the no name nothing league you have always been. Caitlin can play in Europe and lead a team to the first European basketball Olympic gold medal. All of this is so pitiful.
CC can only represent USA in Olympics. According to FIBA rule, a player cannot switch national team if they have represented a country after the age of 17. CC did play in U-19 teamUSA. Thus she cannot represent any country other than USA in FIBA tournaments. Olympic women basketball follows FIBA rules.
I really think that IS what some want. Some feel they are losing their league. They would be happy losing money, collecting welfare from the NBA, and returning to the league they had before Clark. The NBA could change everything by announcing the spigots are being turned off, no more money and force all of them to work together or be out of jobs. They are saying they may strike next year and demand higher salaries.... From money they haven't earned... How entitled is that?

Pre-C.C., these players complained about the hand they were dealt by being black. Because of CC, life as a WNBA player has drastically improved, so they conveniently play the race card. I'm sick & damn tired of listening to how bad white people are. What I'm more sick of are white people bending over backward to prove they're not racists. If I were Clark, I would go to Europe to play. Let the rest of the team bask in their misery.

She doesnt have championships but she has the stats... and if you look at those she has played again - they were on teams stacked with premier players and history... She is great despite her teammates... yet she has 112 turnovers in which you would knock her for it - but in reality well over 50 percent of them are passes or plays to get her teammates involved and scoring. time after time her team mates cannot catch the pass from her... mitchell with 6 years and wheeler with 8 years of wnba experience should be able to catch a pass from CC and also capable of dishing to her when she is open.... I am sure someone somewhere has the amount of times these two have passed to CC and how many times they should have but did not... and before you say CC does the same thing to them.... CC has 138 assists to their combined 85.... In your view she could have the top stats in every category for the next four seasons but if her team never wins a championship you will call her a loser...

ESPN WOW, I believe ESPN give her an award once for playing basketball with a boys' team, not sure how old she was. CC has been involved with basketball for a very long time.
That ranting woman sure has a screw loose. The sole reason people are now paying attention to the WNBA and filling the arena's where Caitlin plays isn't because of anyone else in the WNBA, it is because of Caitlin Clark. She is classy and skilled and breaking one record after another and some folks apparently can't seem to handle it. The WNBA is now relevant because of Caitlin Clark and it has not one thing to do with that loud mouthed ESPN anchor. Seems like they pitch anchors over the side to hold boats in place and that is all they are good for.
