From software has always had issues with flying enemies. The best they can do is have dragons temporarily fly in the air while they breath fire in a straight line.

Yeah, I figured the fire breath attacks at the very least would be targetable up/down like most ranged attacks, but apparently, it has a fixed heightm leaving Midir with like 3 attacks that can hit things above him.
First round, when I didn't see an angel vestige around: *Midir only has a couple of attacks that can hit the angel. This is a rigged fight* 😠 After third round: *I forgot that Midir is one of the most rigged fights*
While I am used to this, it's just that top comments like these spoil the outcome for people watching the video. And people on phones can't really ignore the top comment.

Everyone wondering the lore implications of Midir not flying when the only reason is that his moveset was made only to fight the ashen one, which is always on the ground.
Midir is trapped in the chasm because he was crippled when he fell off the bridge. Also, he fell off the bridge. If his wings worked, he would use them.

I don't know, maybe it's my inner DM over rationalizing game mechanics, but it definitely seems like his mobility is massively reduced from first encounter to the last, and it's in keeping with an injury from falling from a massive height. There's also the consideration that true dragons are actually pretty horrible at aerial combat. Even in a wide open space, which the cramped cavern certainly isn't, they're awkward and ungainly in the air, and that's why dragons across fiction land and fight on their feet. Its certainly a conceit of game mechanics, but we could say the same thing for the angel being mostly stationary when it should be quick and maneuverable. Realistically the flaw isnt that Midir doesn't fly, it's that Midir doesn't breathe up, because I don't think a creature like Midir would ever catch the Angel in flight, but he could certainly roast it out of the air. Which was mostly my point to begin with, albeit poorly expressed

See this or the Curse-Rotted Greatwood ones are pretty flawed just in concept, there's too many issues with it like the hitboxes being inside the outer range limit or the height at which it flies. Either need to manually give additional hitboxes covering the actual enemy so attacks that land do damage, or lower them to not exceed the attack heights of the other unit
Which makes it a fair fight because he barely can. This is the same logic as "if Midir didnt have end game DLC damage output" or "if Yhorm didnt have absurd amount of health" or something along those lines.
According to this logic no one could beat the soul of cinder with chosen undead plus ultra skills and abilitys + hundreds of years of experience but what do we see? He gets beaten like he is a nobody
Those videos can not replace imagination. Honestly, we could imagine an epic battle above the clouds, Midir vs an army of angels or pilgrim butterflies. He would chop their wings like nothing, avoiding their beams and dark orbs.

The cadence on the angels is completely absurd, god damn. First round the angel fired almost enough to never let the damage numbers go away. Not to mention, almost all headshots.
