Y'know, I like Bayle, but I still prefer Midir. I think it might be the build up to the fight. From the very beginning of Dark Souls 1, you hear stories about the ancient dragons. You see them, people talk about them, you even fight some of them, though the ones you fight are always different in some way. Midir is different, he's a full ancient dragon, a trueborn descendant, and he's been fighting and devouring the dark for millenia. When you fight him, there's the weight of three games and an entire DLCs worth of build up behind it. Not to say that Bayle doesn't have amazing presentation and execution, but I prefer Midir.
Not only that, but you can immediately feel the weight of the encounter when you drop down into Midir's arena, and the importance of the moment. You face one of the last bastions of an era eons past, the very last archdragon, the child of a race of godlike beings born at the beginning of the world. Once a friend of the old gods who sparked fire, he stands before you as an endling of his species, now cancerous and blistering from the darkness he pledged to conquer. Midir, likely already slowly dying for millennia, lays at his absolute lowest when you drop into the cavern you knocked him down, and yet he throws every ounce of strength he has left to kill you, likely a mere smattering of what he was once capable of. From the moment he lifts himself to face you, there's immediate rage in the air and in his entire moveset. It all screams hatred and nothing else--he rushes you and spews fire as he does, constantly roars, claws and punches at you, and chomps you down and cooks you alive. His body language and actions scream high intelligence. He's not just some animal fighting just for food or fun--he hates you. You can see him slowly decline throughout your battle, each attack expending more of his strength than the last, until he bursts into his laser attack, after which he collapses in pain and exhaustion for a good few moments as he collects himself and finds the heart to muster another assault. Upon his death, he rears up to the sky millions of his ancestors once conquered and called their home, and crashes down to earth in an explosion of ash, marking the end of those who ruled the world before fire, lasting far past the age of those who had conquered them, at last perishing at its close. As you stand in the arena, alone, you feel the weight of something monstrously ancient, now absent for the first time in the world. Not saying that bayle's lore is bad, the story of an angry dragon rebelling against its lord is pretty alright on its own, but the weight and impact of Midir's lore overshadows Bayle's so much that his can't help but stand weak in comparison. When you fight Bayle, you feel like you're facing a dragon. When you fight Midir, you feel like you're facing a hateful, pained, and exhausted person.

At 4:26 that discord beep in the background had me tweaking because i was sitting in discord by myself for a moment while watching this and frantically searching for the notification until i realized it was part of the video
First round I was like "Midir, where's the laser? Show me the laser, this is like the only time i acrually want to see it." Oh boy he brought the fuckin laser.
Midir had a crazy comeback in the last round, bringing Bayle down from half HP while only being on about 20% himself, and then finishing it off with his long-ranged laser attack. The fights had a fairly consistent pattern though. Midir usually absolutely destroyed Bayle in his first phase because Bayle gains access to a lot of his most threatening attacks in his second phase but when Bayle transitions it becomes a more even fight. I was wondering why Midir wasn't creating more distance as most of his high damage AOE attacks activate from range, as we saw with his final laser attack which is the long-range version of his other laser attacks. Not to mention his attack where he flies over the arena and breathes fire on the ground, which he didn't even bother using. Comparability, Midir's melee attacks are a lot weaker; he used his double claw swipe a lot which looked like his weakest attack. His really long melee combo was doing heavy lifting though, it's a shame his AI didn't use it more. Bayle has really good close range attacks though, which is probably why he lost the fight, because if he hadn't put distance between them by using his flying attack Midir probably wouldn't have used his laser combo, which single handedly melted Bayle's last 25% of HP. Great fight though, and a super cool spectacle.
The amount of poise damage that DS3 bosses can inflict is so much that no boss in Elden Ring can compare. This is more evident in fights with Midir's participation or the fight between crucible knight and black knight.
Easy favorite boss in any Fromsoft game for me. I'll never forget how tense I felt fighting Midir on the bridge for the first time. Or how it gave me chills when I approached him in the cave and he spread his wings. Bestest boy.
Oh, F%#@ YEAH! YES, PLEASE! New Sub! I can imagine a fight between PRIME Midir, Placidusax, AND Bayle, wherever they end up fighting, that place, probably will not EXIST afterwards, lol!
Midir poise seems way lower than Bayle's I'm not sure how you balanced the poise considering Bayle have multiple weak points while Midir hole body feels like a weak point And Midir poise damage is Heavily HEAVILY nerfed like his laser and fire deal something like 5% of their original values and his physical attacks deals half or even less of what they should I think a better way to go about it is to give Bayle the same poise as Midir. And give Midir the same damage scaling as Bayle to be even. Would like to see a rematch And even better a three way fight with Placidusax in the mix
I'd like to see one of these boss vs boss videos with the poise break disabled. Like, I still love them, but it's not as fun watching them fall down and just lay there and take it every 5-10 seconds.
Midir was balanced a little better than Bayle which is why most of his attacks have clear indicators when he's done and leave him open for a counter as opposed to Bayle whose attacks all end with an explosion or lightning spam.

@@Stifados and just like in JJK he was a fraud
@@Tankboy-uv3lp also real
Bro the second half of the first fight is pretty much Bayle saying
"Alright lil man, you had your fun, my turn." 🤣🤣
Bayle’s second phase goes so hard
3rd round showed who had the strongest tail lash.
7:58 that dodge by Midir was crazy 🤯
Midir vs consort radahn now
Михаил Андреевич, это вы?
Since midir damage would mostly turn to holly....it will be pretty hard for midir....but radhan would also do dog sh1t damage to midir lol...both have high holy resist😂😂
@@kiro253 consort is not resistant to holy. he is very resistant to magic
Draconic slap fight goes kinda hard ngl
This is easily the coolest one of these that I've seen
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
Thank you so much
That finishing blow at last round was something too epic to be true
At 4:26 that discord beep in the background had me tweaking because i was sitting in discord by myself for a moment while watching this and frantically searching for the notification until i realized it was part of the video
For some reason I'm just now noticing that Midir looks like Kalamet and has his flames
10:23 midir- FINAL...FLASH!!!
That’s my boy!!!
First round I was like "Midir, where's the laser? Show me the laser, this is like the only time i acrually want to see it."
Oh boy he brought the fuckin laser.
4:26 discord notification hits hard🗣🗣
Midir in this dragonlord arena and lighting is so cool and beautiful. Im very amaze by his design
The amount of poise damage that DS3 bosses can inflict is so much that no boss in Elden Ring can compare. This is more evident in fights with Midir's participation or the fight between crucible knight and black knight.
Like how Midir was kicking his ass then just decided to stop fighting halfway through.
3:36 *BONK*
Easy favorite boss in any Fromsoft game for me. I'll never forget how tense I felt fighting Midir on the bridge for the first time. Or how it gave me chills when I approached him in the cave and he spread his wings. Bestest boy.
Oh, F%#@ YEAH! YES, PLEASE! New Sub! I can imagine a fight between PRIME Midir, Placidusax, AND Bayle, wherever they end up fighting, that place, probably will not EXIST afterwards, lol!
The GOAT comes out on top as always
Midir is probably my favorite FromSoft dragon design he looks so Badass.
Now we need Midir vs all bosses Elden ring :)
done already
Midir poise seems way lower than Bayle's
I'm not sure how you balanced the poise considering Bayle have multiple weak points while Midir hole body feels like a weak point
And Midir poise damage is Heavily HEAVILY nerfed like his laser and fire deal something like 5% of their original values and his physical attacks deals half or even less of what they should
I think a better way to go about it is to give Bayle the same poise as Midir. And give Midir the same damage scaling as Bayle to be even.
Would like to see a rematch
And even better a three way fight with Placidusax in the mix
Yes, I would like to do three way fight with Placidusax soon
@@shaan7030 I was hoping to see that in one of the rounds, Can't wait to see that video drop
I really want to see a animation of placidusax vs bayle if the trailer ever pops up I'm satisfied as a tarnished
10:26 I was waiting for midir to go laser rampage, what a fucking unit
That dark beam just wrecks everything.
the lazar at the end was beautiful
Bayle looks like he was sick of being constantly attacked by monster hunters so he just travels to the souls universe
I would like to see Bayle in one piece before I make final decisions.
Crippled dragon vs highly infected dragon. The fight of the disabled
I'd like to see one of these boss vs boss videos with the poise break disabled. Like, I still love them, but it's not as fun watching them fall down and just lay there and take it every 5-10 seconds.
Midir my beloved ❤️
Good memories learning the attack patterns for ours 😂
Midir was balanced a little better than Bayle which is why most of his attacks have clear indicators when he's done and leave him open for a counter as opposed to Bayle whose attacks all end with an explosion or lightning spam.
Would like to see a five-headed Midir all shooting laser nukes at you all at once in DS4.
yea i was stucked more vs midir even in a newgame+ run. bayle took me like an hour only which is still long.
Can you do placidusax vs midir vs bayle who is the real king
That sounds epic! I'll see what I can do
midir
Midir said, "that first round was to gauge your power"."now the real fight begins."
Midir got nerfed and still won 💀
He also was buffed
@@zenildoneto7710 Rest.
He does way more damage due to Multihits though like more than the player would take
@@zenildoneto7710Midir was nerfed for this video, they added Bayle's stability! with Midir's original stability that only blows to the head can ruin him (and only once) it would be a Midir massacre...
@@GastonJofre-xm3sg Midir was HP scaled though

Bayle: not this again....
You know, either way, I’m proud of myself for committing hard enough to win against both. Midir pushed me to not go hollow, and Bayle pushed me hard enough to avenge Aigon, despite him being a random NPC with little to no impact on the dlc.
10:24 that laser was wild!
Finally a dream match come true. 🔥
I feel like I just watched a damn kaiju fight
