I don't parry enemies that can't parry back. You think if Gundyr could parry or backstab he wouldn't have? He can't by design. He is a Champion. Thus the use of these techniques is a release valve to decrease pressure on you, and is a statement that you cannot face them. Chain backstabbing Friede (in a group even). Parrying Gundyr. I dare say anyone who has to do either of these techniques literally has not yet defeated either and should not consider them complete. Which is good news, as it means they still got Dark Souls left to play. Don't see this as a diss. This is a gift. FromSoft made it for you.

I've already finish all the souls game I played without using parry and backstab because Im not good at them. But u people need to stop hating parry and backstab, ok. Because that's a game mechanics. I know getting chained backstab in PvP is really frustrating to say the least. But they were meant for using or the developers wouldn't have made it a game feature. Just because I can't parry shit doesn't mean I'm gonna hate someone for being able to. I kinda think that Friede got lucky cause some of the champ's attacks didnt connect where they should. Still, it was a clutch fight Friede was barely surviving with that health.

Considering Abyss watchers have a 70% damage reduction on anything that isn't an actual player or a summoned phantom. The fight might not go well for them especially since its the reason they lose most of their fights, if they do Abyss watchers to fight anything again; im not sure if they can do this; but they should give the watchers a 70% damage buff to cancel out the 70% damage reduction.

His fury resurged with her. But this time, she was not so easy to silence. She moved and danced with a flurry of ice, flame and steel; her wicked blade slicing through the air like it weighed nothing and cutting deep into his armor, each slice burned with that frigid touch. Yet his strength and rage was only matched by his strategy. He realized she was far more powerful than he was, but he was much stronger and he could keep her down more easily. And so long as she stayed down, he could destroy her once and for all. The raging tempest of their war sang a song of carnage and brutality in the darkness, playing a symphony of strife for the silent world to hear in perfect clarity. The clang of metal on metal, the shattering of ice, the roar of fire, the crushing of a mighty halberd, the growls of a titan, the winces of an Ashen Woman fighting for her life. Wow, he pummelled her and threw her around like a ragdoll, didn’t give a crap about her fancy acrobatics - he straight up punted her out of the air! And that was amazing to see at the end there. It’s like she’s panting, as an illusion from the lowest of health bars; he pushed her to her limit. Always a pleasure to watch Gundyr fight, and Friede is always a fan favourite as well, so a wonderful display and a great match was observed by all.

That's normal. She's the boss that took me the longest to defeat personally, so I have that great level of respect for her, unequaled by any other boss. champion Gundyr is a magnificent fight in and of itself, but I can't help but root for Friede though.
But Friedes grab didn't work either I see so many that say it is a shame that his grab didn't work but what about hers? Is it because Friese is more NPC looking so we asume that a grab, that affects us works on her? And we know that any grab on us won't work on Gundyr?

Grab moves only work on your regular player model, even Friede's player-like model is different. Considering how close the battle was, Gundyr NOT trying to grab Friede those few times and instead just doing an attack could've made all the difference.
I would say gundyr's poise is his double edged sword in this fight, the fact that he took so much hits but also being able to counter. Good fight tho i thought it was Friede all the way

Gundyr has always been one of my favorite bosses. Even when I didn't know his lore it never seemed like he was fighting us because he was scared or bloodthirsty, and unlike the lords if cinder he doesn't have something important to him to reget us Know that I know his lore i see him as an honorable, loyal and tragic man who fights us to make us ready for what comes next
Just remember that Gundyr is just level 1 'cause he never met his firekeeper.

Friede happens to be one of the very few Soulsborne bosses I enjoy more than Gundyr, so no. But 9/10, I do root for him.

Wow, he pummelled her and threw her around like a ragdoll, didn’t give a crap about her fancy acrobatics - he straight up punted her out of the air!
And that was amazing to see at the end there. It’s like she’s panting, as an illusion from the lowest of health bars; he pushed her to her limit.
Always a pleasure to watch Gundyr fight, and Friede is always a fan favourite as well, so a wonderful display and a great match was observed by all.
That twirl gundyr does with the halberd is so cool. I remember when i first saw it and the red eyes and i was like ‘oh god what now!?’

i would love to see an animated cinematic version of this fight. it was such a cool match up and great atmosphere all around. was not expecting such a close fight or such a compelling one, 10/10.

I find myself always rooting for Friede in these fights, even though I hated her for the longest time.
That's normal. She's the boss that took me the longest to defeat personally, so I have that great level of respect for her, unequaled by any other boss. champion Gundyr is a magnificent fight in and of itself, but I can't help but root for Friede though.
He is truly deserving of the name "Champion Stundyr" indeed.

I would say gundyr's poise is his double edged sword in this fight, the fact that he took so much hits but also being able to counter. Good fight tho i thought it was Friede all the way

Even when I didn't know his lore it never seemed like he was fighting us because he was scared or bloodthirsty, and unlike the lords if cinder he doesn't have something important to him to reget us
Know that I know his lore i see him as an honorable, loyal and tragic man who fights us to make us ready for what comes next
