Thanks Luke ,for sharing your vlog ,IRAQI ppl seem very friendly and its a beautiful country , MAY ALLAH SWT bless the ppl of IRAQ with peace and happiness, lots of love from PAKISTAN, stay safe.
As someone born in Iraq I really appreciated that you left in the part with the taxi driver speaking Arabic in the beginning. He was asking you if you were from Lebanon or Syria because you were using Levantine Arabic.
No pro he asked where he is from then he gives him example like Syrian and lebanon because he doesn’t know the English well but iam surprised how can humans understand eash othor while speaking different languages
Hey Luke, thank you for sharing your experience to Iraq . I was born and raised in Iraq, in a town called Bakhdida which is in the southeast of the city of Mosul. I highly recommend you to visit and checkout the Assyrian culture and language spoken by many Christian Iraqis, it’s Jesus language , it’s my dream to go back for a visit as I left the country 10 years ago.Currently living in Melbourne and hopefully will have a trip planned for my next holiday.I wish I could share this experience with you and help out with the translation😅Best of luck mate🥰🇮🇶🇦🇺
Hahaa I can almost guarantee if you stay in iraq for a couple months, your arabic will be fluent. It’s so cool that you are able to get yourself around with only shway shway Arabic lol 😂. Arabic is so universal and so glad you’re learning or at least know some words.. love your videos @lukedemant Keep up the great work 👌👌👌

Omg the dude behind you lol hahaha You know the reason we love your videos is there is no fancy editing. Its just the truth… and you got one of the most beautiful smiles I’ve ever seen
This is very tiring. You should go up in the taxi because the taxi is connected. In Iraq, like a bus, you get one seat and pay an amount for one seat at the same price you paid on the bus, although the taxi is faster on the way if you are sitting in the front seat. Greetings to you from the State of Norway and the people of Iraq are very generous and kind🇮🇶🇳🇴🇦🇺
Hi Luke love your videos mate Its good u didn’t take the cabs or small taxis i was a bit worried about u cause they speed they drive from 150 to 200 km per hour its crazy always take the bus its much safer if u travel long distance keep up the good work mate❤️😍👍
I’ve been watching a lot of these videos and in most I’ve seen at least one or two people trying to help or take care of him so he can get what he needs. Like the guy who helps him get to a bus when it seemed everyone was trying to get him on another taxis Need more people like this. Are there public restrooms?
Amazing thing that all the people tried to protect you and keep u safe, by leading you on foot to the point u needed to to be to the bus and asked h to get in the bus so u are not exposed to the highway ogres
dude i am from morocco 🇲🇦 and i am pretty glad that you confessed about the fake stereotype which the global media (the west between brakets) is promoting by your illustrating that iraq has nothing to do with that stereotype .
The one in the taxi said bel salame, which basically means hope you arrive safely. We always say that to each other in Iraqi since the roads are long and you never know what happens on the way. Btw I was in Iraq the same time as you but didn't see you. What a pity!
You are born for blogging, really great . I am trying too, but can not think of this quality . Beside a good traveler your language typically diplomatic one . My salute .
Luke, you are very good, if I were you, I would be anxious. Haha, I don't know how to deal with such things alone and for long distances, because frankly, my family provides everything that I can do is to walk with them, eat and photograph, especially on the trip to Karbala or Najaf, I wish you a happy time, be safe ❤
Poor Mac, Seems like everyone on the vlogs has left him this week and with just a fistbump and a see ya around. Hope you all meet up again soon! Haha. (Yea I do get It's not all in real time lol)
Luke, I am an Iraqi living in Australia.. If you really wanna see great Iraqi Hospitality from great people then you should go to a suburb in Baghdad called Al Shalchya. Please go there and film it as i haven't been back there since i was a kid about 40 years ago.
The guy that came up to the taxi window was offering to drive you to Najaf thinking you wanted a private car. But your driver told him nah you want to take a bus.
Mate, if you print some cards to give out to people who ask for channel would be great. It would be very cheap in Iraq to print some. Enjoying the videos.👍
Be well, Luke, how happy I am for your bringing you to my country, Iraq, I hope that this is not your last visit to Iraq and a look at the policy that reminded my country Iraq
I am a nz iraqi from basra originally, I grew up there. I know very well the street that ride it. It is the same garage ( bus station) that we use to traval to other cities in Iraq. You can use Google to help you in translate. Love your video and take this adventure. Hopefully nz open the borders and we can travel to iraq. Each city in Iraq has different culture and something unique.
Nice video Luke. As an Iraqi living in the UK i do admit its fun travelling around Iraq but do insist you don't travel solo. Even us Iraqis worry from ISIS at times. Take care and stay safe!!
It is unfortunate to see Basra with such dirt everywhere and in every Lock Street. I ask you to send a message to the Iraqi government to take more care of Basra, as it is a city rich in oil and located on the Arabian Gulf. This city could be one of the best tourist cities in the world. kindly ,You make a special video about the city of Basra and your kind advices to the Iraqi government as a foreign tourist , please it is very important and if you need more information about basrah just ask me .
