I’ve seen multiple videos where people travel to Iraq and the locals refuse to take money from the tourist. It’s so heart warming seeing this type of love from strangers to their guest.
Seriously the people are always so kind and welcoming the hospitality is out of this world. People going out of their way to make the tourists welcomed In their home country, nothing more beautiful to see just genuine peace.
Everything is done to the teachings of their religion. This is why they won't accept money, or tips from him. They want him to feel welcome and they are indeed kind. This is why I am firmly of the belief that of ALL the religions, Islam is the one where people actually represent their beliefs. As a non Muslim who has lived and traveled around Muslims (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Afghanistan, Malaysia), in their land, I can attest to the kindness and hospitality which he is describing. I really want to visit Pakistan and Iraq one day.
You are guests. Natural tradition of people since celtic times. You give because by the time westerners reach our country they probably have nothing left, but we keep alive through happiness and giving. No one goes without food in the streets. Even the crazy mental get fed.
What amazes me the most is that when we go to these countries they treat tourists so nice, the locals are so friendly and their smile comes from inside. On the other hand, when traveling in Europe is completely the opposite. Tourists are seen as cash cows and people usually look depressed and miserable. When a smile comes out one can def spot is fake. I'm planning to visit mainly middle eastern/LatAm countries now. Much friendlier locals.
And let me actually explain it to you...most countries in South Asia and the people living in this part of the world are hospitable..like way too much towards a foreigner...have you ever wondered why?because when western media considers someone's country bad as hell...then definitely the people get hurt when they realize it...and a broken heart only holds love..that love takes the shape of hospitality because they also want to be accepted and loved...I am sure any one in the west would never welcome an iraqi like this or a Pakistani or Indian or anyone ..
@@whereisearth9825 Hospitality is in our gene It has nothing to do with western perception towards middle eastern or South Asia Unless in my case since I am from Libya
The poorer the country, the friendlier the people. the richer the country, the stronger the bubble that everyone lives in is. I have lived in London for almost 13 years and I still don't know my next door neighbours name, its crazy. Back in Iraq, entire neighbourhoods know everyone, and they give each other gifts and food on special occasions, and they go to events together. If you ever need to get to someone's house you literally ask a random person on the street "Where does X live?" and they will tell you, try doing that in Europe lol. The sense of community is ALWAYS stronger in poorer countries, and that is why you are correct and should stay visiting South American, Middle Eastern and Asian countries. One more misconception people have is safety. I feel 100x safer in Iraq than I do in London, because again everyone knows everyone. I can go out at 3 am and the shops are still open and people are in the streets talking, people in cafes drinking tea. if I go out at 3 am In London I will get robbed or stabbed. This will never ever happen in Iraq, dont let the media lie to you. Our country was destroyed and bombed and had the economy wrecked by sanctions on LIES (Iraq was invaded on the false grounds that we had nuclear weapons) from the exact same countries that portray it as evil and dangerous. Do not listen to them, understand that humans are morally good and kind by default unless they are corrupted by greed and money. When you come to these countries, you see how the human soul is truly like by default and THAT is why it feels so refreshing. It is genuine love and not fake friendliness and smiles like you see in the west.

I am from Iraq and i live in USA, I miss this Iraqi streets environment so much. It hurts my soul when I remember how these nice people suffered from wars. People here think that we ride camels to go to school in iraq. Crazy what media did to peoples minds .
What an eye opener to me as a Filipino. Filipinos inclination is towards the Western World, specifically the US. So much bad publicity has been told about Iraq. Testament to this is your friend, Ali, whenever he mentions to Filipinos that he's FROM Iraq, you would see the reaction of people "Ohhh.... Iraq..." We nevertheless still love and wholeheartedly accept Ali. It's just the stigma brought about by bad publicity from a close Philippine ally, the US, that Iraq has been pictured a villain. But in this video you can see the good heart of the people. I feel sorry for the wars that the people have gone through.
Such a nice natural walk Luke. I was really excited when you were looking for the phone case, I saw you passing the phone shop and started shouting look to your left...lol Haider was selling fermented Iraqi style of Ayran. It was so funny the way he reacts. If you allow me I can make very nice funny video of this conversation. Keep up the simple work
My brother, the reason for this love and passion from the Iraqis is because of the events that happened to us by some of the oppressive countries, and now Iraq loves everyone and you are welcome at any time and every normal, good person, I love him

why you call it "home"?
@@KillKenny09 The Pakistani community here in England, literally 99% of them, despite being born here still refer to Pakistan as home and their loyalties are with it too.
@@distantthunder12ck55This is true. I believe that the reason is the closedness of European and American society and that people are very welcoming in these countries, Iraq and Pakistan for example.

This video is a such a banger!! I always love videos where the camera is rolling without any cuts 🙌🏼 13:28 he was saying you are a handsome man
Amazing to see such hospitality and kindness in the beautiful people of Iraq. When I visited Turkey, everyone was trying to scam me as a tourist. It's refreshing to see how cultures change from place to place. Love from an Afghan.
My view on Iraq really has changed after seeing it through Luke's gopro!

I'm so shocked! Almost in every other country, they try to rip the tourists off and overcharge them! That taxi driver was so honest, and most Iraqis are like that.
Then that kid giving his phone case for free 🥺
Yes the taxi driver and those kids are very generous ❤️

This is a great example of iraqi hospitality
Iraqis known for being generous ❤
Yes. And one day when tourism will be commercial in iraq they will change their behaviour
My father was in Baghdad in the 80s and he told me so many stories about the place and when they had to fly out because of the war, he always said that Iraqi people were good, hospitable people, as can be seen in the video btw i am from Pakistan.

@TravalwithlukeDamant I am from baghdad who lives abroad. This street was one of my favorite places to go and spend some good time. Thanks for taking me back to it and making me feel that I was walking in there in person. The addition of the “ Shukran, Habibi, YaAlah ,the Shuu and the bits of Arabic you spoke was just genius and shows how you are open to learning about the culture.
