it shows the guitar recieving alot of personal attention as if it was manufactured by hand. I bet that is Muhammeds guitar being made right there and we get the assembly line "quick build" version. And when the What it sounded like part came up it looked like the guitar had different pups then the deactivator. In saying that i still want one.
just picked up a Xiphos XP300, thing shreds, jumbo fres are awespne, solid neck and thickness. well worth the 500$ for it, was 850$ originally, came with a free case SCORE!
Actually, Xiphos looks more similar to stealth than warrior. Warrior looks like it has a more messier configuration than Xiphos, while Stealth and Xipho has the neater configuration. Like, look at the horns on the neck; the Warrior's horn's are virtually parallel (but curves are different), but X and S are not, but curves same.
Sorry but the EMG hz pickups are passive and you don't need a battery. You even can't use it with a battery, actually. This doesn't make this Pickups worse as many people think, just different. The active Pickups from EMG are the 60/81/85/89 or S/SA for example
I can't believe that I just have recently purchase my first Ibanez and is a xiphos xpt700 red chameleon 2009. My love for Necrophagist push me to it. My greatest dream is they reunited once more. I never see them live, so I only can dream about it. Shit :'(
I kind of bought my Xiphos of a whim when I found a bargain, cheaper than RRP. But after I bought it and it still hadn't arrived yet I was second guessing my choice of buying it. But having watched these videos and seen comments like the ones left here I am sure I have made a good choice :) Phew, thanks guys.
I've always liked the Dean ML shapes and the Jackson Kellystar shape. I personally play a washburn dime333. When I first saw this come out, I was ecstatic to get one, especially being an Ibanez RG fan. I wanted to try one out, but I haven't found any place that sold them.
i think it's the best body shape they've ever made... makes me cry inside to know that they're taking it off their line. at least Iceman's making a comeback. i'd be alright with having an Iceman 7-string.
@Dimebag08RIP EMG's are made for clarity of the tone, the Blackouts by Seymour Duncan are made for crunch and getting the most gain out of your sound. I prefer both because EMG's are good for shredding and no high gain pushed stuff.
i have an epi les paul custom and ibanez rg370dx and they are both really good, epi has pretty good tuners and good rich gibson sound and the ibanez is great for fast shredding but is mainly for standard with the floating bridge, try them both, they/re both good though, good luck !
@imixers if you do need an active pickup, for volume or gain, I suggest the Blackout by seymour duncan. I feel the same way about pickups, but the Blackouts sound really good in my 8 string.
I own one myself, and I have been thinking about making it's frets scalloped ones, meaning that I cut a part out of each and every fret to make it deeper and give it more bendability.
@AirgunAddict256 I agree 100% and have wanted something like that since last year. Edge zero, wizard prestige, and made in japan prestige model. That would sell more. The dimarzios are fine but an emg option would be cool. Blackouts don't sound as clear.
Well, they aren't active pups, but passive that try to mimetize them. And I've heard they're REALLY good: they sound very similar to EMG's 81 & 85, but slightly less brighter and "rounder" and more versatile if you still haven't found your ideal metal sound (that's the reason I think Ibanez put that DiMarzio's on the Xiphos instead of the EMG's) Great guitar and great guitarist!!!
There is like almost every song of Necrophagist's Epitaph record xD The solo he plays first is from ignominious and pale. I'm not quite sure where the second one comes from. The songs in the background are Stabwound, The Stillborn One, Diminished to B, Seven and so on.
@AirgunAddict256 I agree. When it comes to solo tone, there is nothing better than an 85 in the neck. There are good passives on ibanez prestige guitars though. As for amps, I don't own a solid state amp haha the marked this guitar aims at probably almost all own solid state amps though
I think he personally has three versions, one with those new dimarzio pickups and one with EMG, and a 7 string verion. The production versions only have the dimarzios.
it depends on wat you mean. the warrior is a german term for people who show courage and vigor in anything they do. the xiphos was the spartan warrior sword used in ancient greece. so i guess since greece is older than germany... the xiphos was first.
Whatever floats your boat. If you stuck to the older RR3's I might have seen your viewpoint but seeing it's better than ALL of Ibanez's current stuff? I'd LOVE to see an RR3 outplay a J Custom (hell I'd love to see an RR3 outplay a Jem/UV), but preference is preference. I'll leave well enough alone now.
Ibanez rules, me and my buddy have one apiece. My friend has the xiphos and I got an SAS32exfm. both are great guitars, but i'd opt to put better pickups in the SAS32exfm if your serious about playing. The stock ones are alright but you can really get a sick sound with some EMG81's or and 81 and an 85.... all in all Ibanez makes some excellent instruments.
@bigAshizzle do you know what model pickup? and ive always wanted to try one of those natural wood colored neck thru mockingbirds. thats one nice ass guitar and thats a big gripe with ibanez that i have is that they REFUSE to give us a good neck thru. the rgt42 is decent and same eith the xiphos but everything else is bolt on
those D Activator X pickups are AWESOME. I have them in my DTT700 Destroyer. I almost didn't buy it because it didn't have EMG's but I ended up liking the DiMarzio D Activator X's better.
i'll buy i guitar like this style.but i don't know yet if will be jackson wrmg or ibanez xiphos.i want your opinion on that.(ps: no more money for upgrade's on trem or something else.just money for guitar) thanks :)
@DescentFromHeaven Yeah they are pretty good. I understand how many people prefer EMGs because I did as well. It's pretty close but the added convenience of not having batteries puts the DiMarzios a little higher for me. They are powerful and they have a more beautiful smooth sound than the chunky EMG's. I have the perfect swedish melodic death metal sound on my Destroyer. Works great for the smoothness of black metal as well.
@999N0t3str34k take your tremolo off the guitar, and look at the knife edges on it. are they sharp or are they really dull? the Edge III will work, but its fault is that the knife edges dull, really easily. if they are dull, it's possible to take it into a luthier and he can sharpen the knife edges. or if he says they're unrepairable, then you can get a new trem for cheap on ebay. once you get the knife edges sharp, put some chapstick on a q-tip and coat the edge with chapstick and re-install.
Ha, I figured that. I saw the blue chameleon one on the internet and didnt think it was too metal haha, but the black one looks so tight. O well. Ill settle with red chameleon then...it might still look dope in real life...Ive only seen pics. Thanks man.
@666wrathofheaven666 i've played the warrior and the dinky models, the neck is ok but it's still doesn't have the AANJ of ibanez . if an ibanez neck is damaged it can be replaced. the the edge it revolutionary. it's so freaking annoying to cut off the ball ends of stryings just to put it in
can anyone tell me what the chameleon red paint job is actually like close up? ive only seen it on pictures and im not sure, i cant seem to find it anywhere around here either so help would be appreciated, cheers
We gotta remember that people have different playing styles and tastes, and therefore when it comes to high end companies, such as Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Jackson and PRS, there is no "better" guitar. It all comes down to personal preference.
yeah man totally agree, im selling mine at the moment, gona get a ibanez 7 string. Im never EVER buying a guitar with a edge III again, sucks too much, i blocked it on my xiphos, and the nose diving problem you can fix by relocating the strap button so it wont dive,i enjoy the solo sound it gives off though, u can the notes clear but the low rhythm lacks abit imo
Just found this guitar for $400 in my guitars shop...it sounds epic sense I know how dimarzio Dactivator pickup is high output like actives...I want this now
hey im getting an ibanez xpt700 xsiphose it's 1000 bucks at the store but i found it 650 with a stand at kijiji and it dosent have any scratchis so should i get the one on kijiji for spend an extra like 500 bucks for a new one?
@assassin2811 Perhaps what he meant by it was he hadn't used an Ibanez on stage that was of interest of him to use on stage. Until the Xiphos came into the picture. Who knows.
he actually says martial, as in "for war", not Marshall haha. he was just talking about the look of them... tbh idk why he thinks that... i think RG's are just the right amount of metal.
let me know If I can get the color of that guitar at @ 2:48 because I'm about to get it but I don't want to settle for the chameleon. I don't like the glossy black, but I do like that kind of black-charcoal paint. it's kinda gray and cool. message me back please
he doesnt use the de activaters ... his signiture or ( on stage ) he uses emg's 81's n 85's ( and on album) on the album he recorded all the solos on a JEM .. using evolution pickups..( neck) i dont beleive he even uses de activators anymore... but theyr good pickups
My girl just got me the new xpt700xh model with matte black finish cannot wait til it arrives!!
Beelzeboob that edge is real birch eh?
@@stoOberp mine is fine. It depends upon the year.
Sweet jesus muhammed is a badass. Makes me wanna sit in a room with a guitar until I can hit every note that smoothly.
"lets see what happens down the road"...
*10 years later*
...
this was the solo from "ignominious and pale" ... which IS a technical death metal masterpiece
i wish i was as creative as muhammed for makin those goddamn amazing solos.. and riffs!
look at 1:40, he picks once, and uses that to play for like 5 seconds, thats what the activator pickups do. thats incredible
it shows the guitar recieving alot of personal attention as if it was manufactured by hand. I bet that is Muhammeds guitar being made right there and we get the assembly line "quick build" version. And when the What it sounded like part came up it looked like the guitar had different pups then the deactivator. In saying that i still want one.

I'm thinking about getting the 27-fret extended neck since its out and just replacing pickups with EMG Blackouts. Hopefully it'll all work out.
It looks very comfortable to play sitting down
Sorry but the EMG hz pickups are passive and you don't need a battery. You even can't use it with a battery, actually.
This doesn't make this Pickups worse as many people think, just different.
The active Pickups from EMG are the 60/81/85/89 or S/SA for example
thts some very impressive detective work spidanez :D
Thanks for this video! Awesome to get some insight about this guitar. Suicmez is a monster player and composer!
I waited for a signiture or something superbly built, and i bougth the seven string version, and it blows my mind!
im making this guitar 'shape' in a school project. im well excited.
Most US-made Jacksons are neck-through. They're very nice, and are my second favorite brand, next to Ibanez.
the active pickups are very good for this guitar imo, good job Larry.
Could not agree more. It just looks so much more defined and sleek :D
I can't believe that I just have recently purchase my first Ibanez and is a xiphos xpt700 red chameleon 2009. My love for Necrophagist push me to it. My greatest dream is they reunited once more. I never see them live, so I only can dream about it. Shit :'(

Xiphos and Iceman are BACK - in 7 string versions. Iron Label, too.
@Dimebag08RIP EMG's are made for clarity of the tone, the Blackouts by Seymour Duncan are made for crunch and getting the most gain out of your sound. I prefer both because EMG's are good for shredding and no high gain pushed stuff.
This guitar definitely took a lot of its design from the killer prime guitar
Its the song "Seven" on the Epitaph album By Necrophagist of course :)
@MAP1987 i looked at the tab and it took me about 45 minutes to get it clean and up to speed. just got to practice. you can do it
i have an epi les paul custom and ibanez rg370dx and they are both really good, epi has pretty good tuners and good rich gibson sound and the ibanez is great for fast shredding but is mainly for standard with the floating bridge, try them both, they/re both good though, good luck !
@imixers if you do need an active pickup, for volume or gain, I suggest the Blackout by seymour duncan. I feel the same way about pickups, but the Blackouts sound really good in my 8 string.
The two songs featured are "Seven" and "Stabwound" both by Necrophagist, Muhammed's band.

Great guitar and great guitarist!!!
its on the ibanez site its the one with the single coil in the neck position
but there are some humbuckers that are made for single-coil inlays, but i don't know if there is something like that in those 27 fret Xiphos
@mmroz1996 The song is called "Seven" by a band called "Necrophagist".
awesome1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was gonna get the iceman until i recently found out that they dont make them anymore
There is like almost every song of Necrophagist's Epitaph record xD
The solo he plays first is from ignominious and pale. I'm not quite sure where the second one comes from. The songs in the background are Stabwound, The Stillborn One, Diminished to B, Seven and so on.
@TheXenoSphere actually Ibanez had something before the Stealth in the 80s. look up the Ibanez Axstar. i believe it came just before the stealth.
@AirgunAddict256 I agree. When it comes to solo tone, there is nothing better than an 85 in the neck. There are good passives on ibanez prestige guitars though. As for amps, I don't own a solid state amp haha the marked this guitar aims at probably almost all own solid state amps though
i love when he throws down the solo to Ignominious & Pale
I think he personally has three versions, one with those new dimarzio pickups and one with EMG, and a 7 string verion. The production versions only have the dimarzios.
And then theres the Ibanez DT-250 X style mine was made november 1984. Ibanez FOR THE WIN \m/
it depends on wat you mean. the warrior is a german term for people who show courage and vigor in anything they do. the xiphos was the spartan warrior sword used in ancient greece. so i guess since greece is older than germany... the xiphos was first.

Awesome guitar!
what s the intro song??
Seven by Necrophagist
those D Activator X pickups are AWESOME. I have them in my DTT700 Destroyer. I almost didn't buy it because it didn't have EMG's but I ended up liking the DiMarzio D Activator X's better.
Anyone tell me what the song is? Incredible
even if it was an exact copy, it sounds way better than most jacksons than ive heard and i play jackson and ibanez!
@imixers same here I put BKP in mine... sounds insane. I have a Back up Xiphos with a BKP in the bridge and kept the Dimarzio in the Neck position.
Excellent!
i dont know which one of those came first but this looks like the bc rich stealth which is chuck shuldiners guitar
@StefanCornelius nice dude! i honestly do love that guitar. id love to play one
right so damn fast and clean...he rulez=)
Just ordered the xp300fx with a fixed bridge!
yea i like pointy guitars thats why i got a B.C Rich Warlock and i want the Xiphos now
i'll buy i guitar like this style.but i don't know yet if will be jackson wrmg or ibanez xiphos.i want your opinion on that.(ps: no more money for upgrade's on trem or something else.just money for guitar) thanks :)
@bigAshizzle definately. hows the cleans on an EMG? i heard theyre not great
yes... it the same guitar.. but.. which guitar is better in sound, tremolo/vibrato, and pickups?? (compare with a
Jackson WRMG Warrior with EMG)
@DescentFromHeaven Yeah they are pretty good. I understand how many people prefer EMGs because I did as well. It's pretty close but the added convenience of not having batteries puts the DiMarzios a little higher for me. They are powerful and they have a more beautiful smooth sound than the chunky EMG's. Awesome. I need those D-Activators
stays in tune good for me. I heard the Edge Pro was good.
one or another. I'm not going to argue since your right.
@999N0t3str34k take your tremolo off the guitar, and look at the knife edges on it. are they sharp or are they really dull?
the Edge III will work, but its fault is that the knife edges dull, really easily. if they are dull, it's possible to take it into a luthier and he can sharpen the knife edges. or if he says they're unrepairable, then you can get a new trem for cheap on ebay.
once you get the knife edges sharp, put some chapstick on a q-tip and coat the edge with chapstick and re-install.
at about 2:19, he lifts the guitar up, and you can see EMG pickups in the guitar.
would a origional floyd fit on a xiphos?
and are they all made with a mahogony body?
i might grab this next week
i played it in guitar center and it sounded alright...maybe it was the amp but it still sounded quite nice
Ha, I figured that. I saw the blue chameleon one on the internet and didnt think it was too metal haha, but the black one looks so tight. O well. Ill settle with red chameleon then...it might still look dope in real life...Ive only seen pics.
Thanks man.
im picking up a xiphos this week
I want to get a black xiphos, but the black one has 24 frets :/ Is there a way to get the 27 fret version in black?
@breaththeair
Which both was built off the BC Rich Stealth design.
@666wrathofheaven666 i've played the warrior and the dinky models, the neck is ok but it's still doesn't have the AANJ of ibanez . if an ibanez neck is damaged it can be replaced. the the edge it revolutionary. it's so freaking annoying to cut off the ball ends of stryings just to put it in
oh yes. that is correct, i heard that not too long ago and i was like, THAT'S WHAT IT IS!
@breaththeair I recognised that too, but I feel the Ibanez shape is more balanced somehow. Not sure why though.
can anyone tell me what the chameleon red paint job is actually like close up? ive only seen it on pictures and im not sure, i cant seem to find it anywhere around here either so help would be appreciated, cheers
We gotta remember that people have different playing styles and tastes, and therefore when it comes to high end companies, such as Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Jackson and PRS, there is no "better" guitar. It all comes down to personal preference.
ahhhhhhh your loving that!!!
ibanez has a 6 string 27 fret xiphos as well, i think his 7 string xiphos is going to be custom?
@bigAshizzle i probably wouldnt like the tone much but i havnt really givin it a chance so ill have to see
yeah man totally agree, im selling mine at the moment, gona get a ibanez 7 string.
Muhammed is a fuckin savage.
god the sound on his guitar when he did the solos was eargasmic
i love the Xiphos
the Dimarzio D Activator pickups are better for metal than the X2N? Please answear
Who knows.
@deathcore1239 bc rich's kerry king models and dean's mustaine and dimebag models are all really good guitars
what do you think is better the xiphos or the s670pb for metal/shred
he actually says martial, as in "for war", not Marshall haha. he was just talking about the look of them... tbh idk why he thinks that... i think RG's are just the right amount of metal.
you could always go for ibanez GRGM21 GIO Mikro a small scale guitar ($130) or Ibanez GAX30 ($150) these are the affrodable right handed ibanez
does anyone know what that solo muhammad played was and does anyone know what kinda pedal or effect he uses?
let me know If I can get the color of that guitar at @ 2:48 because I'm about to get it but I don't want to settle for the chameleon. I don't like the glossy black, but I do like that kind of black-charcoal paint. it's kinda gray and cool. message me back please
so these guitars will give me a nice heavy sound? also nice harmonics?
I have this guitar and I must say....it's sick!
he doesnt use the de activaters ...
his signiture or ( on stage ) he uses emg's 81's n 85's ( and on album)
on the album he recorded all the solos on a JEM .. using evolution pickups..( neck)
i dont beleive he even uses de activators anymore...
but theyr good pickups
thank you!!
