I respect Luke Pearson to wrap up the show so it wouldn't get purged like all the other shows we lost but wished it went on longer. It's almost like ambition in animation is too expensive. Hilda was my replacement show to watch after Steven Universe ended and I'll never forget the beauty of Hilda's visuals, characters and excitement. Especially Johanna as the best animated mom of all time. Don't know when we'll get another gorgeous show like this.
I am going to miss watching new adventures but so glad we have this series. It was one of my favorites ever. Great story telling and characters. I'll miss Hilda! I'm hopeful that the series will come back with a spin-off or sequel series, but if that happens it definitely won't be now, just in a few years, and also that a fourth season is practically impossible, but I loved it this last episode.
Nothing is impossible, even if it's a 4th season. There are a ton of adventures, mysteries, and creatures that could appear in a 4th season such as a Banshee (not from Halo), Griffin, and such.
One thing I really love about Hilda is that apparently it takes a lot of inspiration from Scandinavian folklore and the works of Tove Jansson. It really makes me want to learn more about their folklore, myths and legends.
2:10 another crazy thing that was surprising (?) is that at the beginning of the episode Wood Man talks about how old that tree is and then at the end he just says “I’ll plant the next one closer to…” and that reveal that he’s immortal and has lived for so long was just kind of hype for me (Wood Man is a great character, I’m sad he didn’t get more screen time)
This show is probably one of my favourites of all time, the colours and animation is so freaking beautiful !!! Hilda seriously deserves so much more attention and love, I didn't even realise the finale was out until I randomly went on Netflix one day. Honestly I wish people talked about the show more lol. The finale itself made me go through so many emotions, and not many shows have been able to do that. I wish it was longer 😭💔
I was 100% convinced the movie was the last we were gonna get animated so I was surprised and happy to find s3 also fairies in folklore are usually pretty tricky and vicious it's a really recent development that puts them in a protective light, in old myth they enchant pieces of wood as Changeling to swap human babies to make servant, they steal your name and stuff
I honestly kinda forgot about this show between season 2 and 3 but I was reminded of it through your update video so Yesterday I watched all 8 episodes in season 3. It’s really sad to see the show is over, it really deserves more. There are so many characters and storylines that I think deserve more. Hopefully we can get a spinoff in the future. But I’m planning on rewatching seasons 1 and 2 because I haven’t seen those in a while. This show was truly something special and I’m sad to see it go.
I know their adventures are not over, and my heart is full of sorrow knowing I can't join then for any more. So to fill the void I'm working on an original story based off of the feel of Hilda. And to practice I'm writing my own S4. The over arcing story of my Hilda S4 is 'Someone from one of the other worlds from the tree is stuck in Hilda's world. The witches have a portal that can get him home, but the magic needed to activate it needs some rare components.' Some of these components can only be gotten at certain times of the year, or just don't know where to go. So we get what we can off the bat, and then slice of life more 'normal' adventures as we wait for access to the other components, or investigating the rest of the component. Also the main cast is up to 5 for the season. The core 3, Luise, and the kid from anther world.
Episode 3 feels like it could be an entire spinoff. I thought they would have done more with the character from episode 4. There is so much foreshadowing in episode 6.
I like the little bit of foreshadowing with the lake creature being disgusted by the fact Hilda amd Johanna tasted human. At first it might seem weird that it would try to eat Johanna twice if it didn't eat humans, but knowing that she was with her aunt (and possibly dad) when she encountered it before makes more sense. Apparently fairies taste better and that's what it thought she was the whole time.
I am going to miss the anticipation of more Hilda. This show was genuinely a breath of fresh air in the animation medium, and I am stung that it is already over. Cheers it more like it!
I completely agree that they could've expanded a lot more. Also I'm so glad you covered one of my favorite shows, I'm so glad you covered it! P.S. Great touch using Celeste music it fits sooo well!!!!
It's truly sad how Netflix treated this show during season 3, cutting episodes, only releasing a trailer like a week before it released, and how it was basically swept under the rug, forgotten by them. I feel like it only ended because of fear of being cancelled by netflix. Thank you for recognizing it and giving it praise, it deserves more.
In season one and two, Hilda was 11 (and maybe 12, idk) and in season three she’s 13! It’s nice to see them grow, it feels wrong that the show is officially over. :(
I’m so glad you made a video on Hilda! I’ve been watching the show since it started and I’m very sad to see it go. I also will agree that Hilda’s world building is absolutely amazing. I think my favorite part is all the different creatures and species and how they all connect. Also my favorite character is probably David or the Thunderbird/Great Raven. :) Also I very much appreciate the Celeste music :)
Hilda was, and still is, one of my favorite shows to date. Being able to see all of my favorite characters again when I thought the show was over and the whole fairy storyline was AMAZING. I binge-watched the whole season over the course of 2 days and stayed up till 5AM just to see how it ended, and I feel like I didn't waste a single second. I still wish there was so much more (thanks to netflix hating animation) but I think they made a good decision ending it where it was. Once again, one of the BEST shows to date and I highly recommend. (I think I'm going to do a cosplay of one of the characters at some point!)
Hilda was a rollercoaster of emotions for me, I always thought the movie was the end of Hilda, then I felt relieved to see that a 3 season would come out, then sad seeing how much episodes they cut out.😭 Definitely one of my favorite series and one that inspired me to start drawing, I’m kinda sad to see it end but grateful that at least they gave it an ending (because of how much Netflix likes to leave series without an ending).♡
It's kinda like the toh in a way,it looks like a force push, but in reality the people who made the show are happy. Don't be sad that it's over,be glad that it happend -someone
Even though I never heard of this show until now, you talking about it makes me believe you in terms of it ending and it seems sad to see it end. Just like other shows I think you already know, because I mentioned one of them before, and I don’t want to mention it all too much in all of my comments I say to you.
Thanks for finding letting this show out more 🙏.I’ve just finished it and it made me cry my eyes out on the ending, and is the only show that ever has 😭😭
Hilda is quite a gem and very much my favorite series that i felt in love with its artstyle and I tried to incorporate some bits to my own art style and one thing to know that it could've been more if it wasn't for Netflix shortening the show according to luke pearson (creator of hilda) and man things would've been different without the cut by netflix like they can't just do this to banger shows!
Hilda is the definition of peak animation and story telling (even when it came out of the books). The moment I saw and watched this show I became so attached to it that it, helped me with what I want to do with my future. After all it has been through, this series doesn't deserve to end, especially if Netflix decided to shorten season 3 from 13 to 8 episodes. I mean seriously, why is Netflix getting rid of good animated shows with entertaining stories; They cancelled Inside Job and that show was very popular. Anyways, Hilda still doesn't deserve to end; It's best if it got a 4th season and continued just further. A spin-off and or a sequel probably shouldn't happen as many people as suggesting it and we all know how it can turn out. Who knows maybe Luke Pearson and Andy Coyle will decide in the future to change his mind and bring back Hilda for a Season 4 (and more). This is possible as some shows get revived or continue after ending such as Futurama, Phineas and Ferb, and Young Justice. Let's also hope that Inside Job could possibly return for a season 3 before 2026 (if not then this is what MYC would say at the bottom). MYC: Netflix you need to get a bigger heart.
This was such a good show, I mean its one of my favorite show. The animation is so smooth and overall it was so good. I could watch so many seasons and not get bored. Each episode is a adventure of the wonderful world and all of the mystery's of the world. I'm so glad that at least one youtuber noticed this show. This video was good and I'm glad you made it
I saw when you posted this a week ago a decided to watch Hilda because of it. Here I am a week later, having binged the whole show and watched the movie. Thanks for making we watch it, it’s my favourite show right now :)
Hilda might be one the best animated shows in the world and maybe the best western animated show. Its writing, animation, music, world-building and characters make this show my personal favourite. The final season was really satisfying and the ending might have been perfect in every way. And I do agree with you that this show could have expanded on this enormous fictional world the author(s) created for many more seasons. And maybe a continuation will be possible if the author of the comics will make new stories. And just because the show is over it doesn't mean the same for the franchise. And yes, this show could be compared to One Piece and Adventure Time, it really is so good.
I loved this review! Hilda is a show that I forget how utterly it enchants me, so it was a long time before I saw season 2 and the Mountain King, even though the first season was really good. And I adored this season 3 now that I've finally powered late into the night to watch it! It makes me so sad that this season was cut short. It was originally supposed to have more episodes, but they were cut for budget and pressure from the company. They had to really fight for what they had. You can really see some of the gaps, most of all with Louise. We never saw her again, which is a shame. So it's possible they had to fight to defend the investment of the merman episode. But I'm really glad to have it. That episode was a ton of fun, and so visually impressive. Thanks for the video!
I watched the first 2 episodes of this show but couldn't get into it, maybe I need to try again Even though this wasn't my thing though I'm sad to see it end, it's yet another story driven cartoon that's gone and we're losing so many :(
honestly i wa suprised anytime new content got made, i felt like so little people knew about it that i tought it was gonna end earlier. im glad we got atleast this last season
I'm sad that it's over, but oh so happy that it has been ! The show stopped at it's peak, which is the best thing that can happen to a netflix produced cartoon It'll be fondly with me for a very long time, for it is one of my all times favourite animated shows
Hilda is truly an an amazing show with Great characters beautiful backgrounds (which made me compare it to Steven Universe) with the fantasy and magical Creatures over arcing Mystery and lore Season 3 is Great and there Series finale I adore Hilda hope it does come back for a sequel series or Spin-off Series
I’ve always loved Hilda, the animations and design choices! To be honest while I do very much love the third season, I think I would have rathered it end at season 2+the mountain king movie. While I do love the fact it came back for one final season, plus seeing Hilda’s dad, I felt like the ending to the mountain king just felt right. Not adding a whole new special characteristic to Hilda like how she’s a fairy, adding on a bunch of things that have barely been explained. Like now Hilda is technically part troll, and fairy.
Omg the ending was so good when they said there stuck in fairy country I was like season 3 ? Then I saw it was an hour long I thought there was gonna be a cliff hanger when they said they were stuck
I remember someone made a rant about episode 6, hating it with their whole heart. Like dude, it’s just an amazing episode about some Eldrich horror, and 9:58 - 10:27 perfectly describes how cool the creature is. It’s probably my favorite creature besides from the elves or fairies. Also, can I just say how meanwhile the overall animation is like a choppy animation mixed with a smooth animation, but then there’s these random moments when the animation is as smooth as Micheal Jackson in smooth criminal.
i literally started watching this show the summer it came out. true nostalgia. when i saw that they made a movie, and a third season, i was so excited! i’m so sad now that it’s over. WHY DID NETFLIX HAVE TO MAKE IT SHORTER
I was so upset how little episodes hilda had 😭 they could of had sooo many adventures with how many creatures they have. Each season is only about 13 eoisodes and agggguh i need *more*
Dear God Hilda is an example of good content in today's age it ain't all over we're still getting good content it's just that we're getting more shity content than we are good content
I personally consider season 3 like an aftermath or epilogue cause personally the movie was a perfect ending, it was still good but not for a finale. Season 3 is the adventure time distant lands for me, it adds to the series finale rather than being a finale itself
Well, in The Forgotten Lake, the Spider Frog actually mentions how they must know what it’s like to not be one thing or the other, which is the Spider Frog’s interpretation of them being human-fairy hybrids, so a little teaser to the truth that is revealed at the end of the season :p
Everything was great I watched the first and second season multiple time and after founding the new season I watched it and holy shit 😭😭😭 it's was sooo sad even more sad the first Hilda movie...I can't believe it won't get another season if I had power to do so I would give Hilda more seasons more and more.... Hilda is the only show that makes me cry happy worried depressed ever god damn feeling...I hop we got a new season...Hilda is the best under age character that ever made and Johanna is the best mother character that ever made...I hop we get new seasons from Hilda to watch and enjoy 😭❤️
13:47 I never got why Joanna’s parents couldn’t return back with them. Astrid offered herself in Joanna’s place, therefore making the deal Joanna’s parents made mute, meaning they should’ve been able to leave - Astrid could after Victoria took her place. Was it cos they’d been in the Fairy Realm too long? 🤔
Being a fellow one piece fan, the pure essence of fantasy this series is able to achieve such a magical experience will forever stay with me, easily one of my top 3 of all time
Hilda is my comfort show and current hyperfixation. Very sad it ended. I wish we would get more focus on the main plot of season 3 instead of fillers, specially considering it's the final season. But at least the fillers are good and interesting, just the spider frog one made me really mad.
I love Hilda and Netflix shouldn’t have cut 5 episodes out of the third season
It wasn't 5, it was SIX!! That's over half the season GONE
Fuck Netflix fr
Really?! I literally didn't know that
NO THEY DID NOT DO THIS..
NO
NO

Nah, sadly, this show bombed hard according to the authors. I don’t think we’ll get anything more from it sadly.

hilda footage backed with celeste music is the perfect pairing I didn't know I needed
They pair really well together!
Celeste is my favorite game ever
Hilda is one of the best kids shows on Netflix I hope they make more things like spin offs and books
In case you don't know it's actually adapted from a book series so if you want more there still is already a bit out there
I don't think a spin-off would work but Luke is making another Hilda book.

I love watching animated shows so i really want to see this one. It looks so cute and calming and i really love the artstyle

I was so upset how little episodes hilda had 😭 they could of had sooo many adventures with how many creatures they have. Each season is only about 13 eoisodes and agggguh i need *more*
this is sunday NOT SATURDAY jk its great that you gave this to us
Dear God Hilda is an example of good content in today's age it ain't all over we're still getting good content it's just that we're getting more shity content than we are good content
Glad to see this show getting the love it deserves 👍
I personally consider season 3 like an aftermath or epilogue cause personally the movie was a perfect ending, it was still good but not for a finale.
Season 3 is the adventure time distant lands for me, it adds to the series finale rather than being a finale itself
FINALLY
💖💖💖💖💖
This is why I binge shows also so that I don't see spoilers
I loved this show even thou it’s underrated no matter anyone told me I loved it regardless
The doggo:3
So cute:3
To good to end, I’m still crying myself to sleep thinking about how my favourite shows have ended 😢
I like how the 2 shadows from johanna's parents kinda mirror how the show started, with the shadows from the elfs
Well, in The Forgotten Lake, the Spider Frog actually mentions how they must know what it’s like to not be one thing or the other, which is the Spider Frog’s interpretation of them being human-fairy hybrids, so a little teaser to the truth that is revealed at the end of the season :p
Honestly I’ve loved this show since it first came out out
I can’t believe that Hilda is now over it made me cry 😢
Everything was great I watched the first and second season multiple time and after founding the new season I watched it and holy shit 😭😭😭 it's was sooo sad even more sad the first Hilda movie...I can't believe it won't get another season if I had power to do so I would give Hilda more seasons more and more....
Hilda is the only show that makes me cry happy worried depressed ever god damn feeling...I hop we got a new season...Hilda is the best under age character that ever made and Johanna is the best mother character that ever made...I hop we get new seasons from Hilda to watch and enjoy 😭❤️
Despite the end of Hilda. It will always have a special place in my heart and that I also drew my pfp in their art style.
Being a fellow one piece fan, the pure essence of fantasy this series is able to achieve such a magical experience will forever stay with me, easily one of my top 3 of all time
Yeah they’re should have been a seen four for the reveal on the last episode and the movie being more talked about in the show
5:14 it's like Ash reunited with his dad which remains a mystery
And his name is Anders
How about you maybe make a video about the differences between the comics and the show that would be a good video
It was too good to end!
this show Is too god damn short . I want MORE
Good shows try not to end after 2-3 seasons challenge (impossible)
Hilda and celeste, just such a good match
Hilda is my comfort show and current hyperfixation. Very sad it ended. I wish we would get more focus on the main plot of season 3 instead of fillers, specially considering it's the final season. But at least the fillers are good and interesting, just the spider frog one made me really mad.
hmm
guess it's time for me watch this show
new year, old shows to discover
