This explains so much about what I suspected about Hilda. Her blue hair was odd and unlike most people she is around seems to have the magical world come to her by pure luck. Luck does have some correlation to the fey-and she and her mother have an extraordinary amount of it.

At first, I thought it was a stylistic choice considering how she's the protagonist until they mentioned that her hair was actually blue in the universe.
I suspected Hilda was some kind of fae child through the season. And I heavily suspected it more after that creature spit them back out. Hi, here to respond to the Johanna hair comment. It’s most likely due to recessive genes that would be why it skipped Johanna and went straight to Hilda. Which would make sense as to why Johanna didn’t directly inherit her dad’s hair color. Thought this may help a bit in understanding why maybe Johanna has a different hair color :)
It’s so sad that Hilda has ended now but I just wanted to say the years that I watched Hilda with my mum was so amazing and will always be the best years of my life it warmed my heart and saddened it when I got together with my mum again on the sofa to sit down and watch it again just like old times, but now that it’s over I feel that there is still so much more you just gotta think of it myself so thank you for everything. You will always hold a place in my heart.
Victoria DID find a way to create portals between worlds through those towers, so maybe Hilda and her mother won't need to be separated from their grandparents for long. Too bad we won't find out though.
Where was this? I think I remember seeing Victoria create a portal between the borderlands and mainland Fairy Country, but where did she crate a portal between human country and Fairy Country?
Ah, Hilda. Or as Sarcastic Chorus likes to call it, "Paganism For Kids". Also, Deepcut, will you make a video of you singing "Time Adventure" on your personal channel to send the show off?
I don't sing, why do people keep asking for weird covers from me lately? Someone was like spamming me to sing peaches, and some other guy keeps making pitch shifted 'covers' of me singing songs
does this guy not remember season one at all? Because we first meet the weather lady in season one and are told that Joanna’s family on the house, Hilda lived in at the beginning.
Since this season dealt with Faeries, it felt like...a tiny missed opportunity that they didn't include any of the Fae Lords in the mythos (let alone referenced them.) I'm of course referring to characters like Mab, Nicnevin, Finnvara and of course; Oberon, Titania and Puck
@@kwayneboy1524 Fae is another term used to reference fairies, in other works of fantasy. As for what a fae lord is, it's basically the king of all fairy-kind
@@SilverScribe85so was that cloaked creature not there head fairy monarch in the show? Also if Fae seemingly can reproduce with humans and each other why do they kidnap people?
It's said that at any point a fea is to enter our realm, nature forms a natural ring from the portal. Though sometimes these rings are hard to spot and the portal may even still be active enough for someone to accidentally walk or fall through.
One thing that confused me a bit was that Johanna’s mum was a human, but she gained fairy powers from living in the fairy world for a long time. Does that mean everyone who lives in the fairy world eventually gains fairy powers? Also they didn’t exactly explain why Johana’s parents couldn’t leave; if they said they would die if they left that would make more sense but they just left it at “we can’t leave, im sorry Johanna” Also Johanna’s parents have blonde and blue hair but somehow Johanna got brown hair? How do those genetics work?
I was actually disappointed when I found out the fairies doesn’t look similar to the elves (small, cartoon stick figures, but maybe with more colorful floral and mushroom elements, or maybe similar to the ones they showed us in Tofoten) but I still enjoyed the show either way
This video alluded to a lot more mythology than I was expecting, but it was helpful in explaining about Fairies overall. Anyway, I just finished the whole Season and I absolutely LOVED it ❤ It has quite a few episodes I’m likely to rewatch, including the finale. And, with the release of some new books and the soundtrack, it’s safe to say I will still be enjoying Hilda for a long time
I find it kind of funny that out of all mythical magical creatures/beings fairies are the ones that are believed to be pure fantasy and make-believe in hilda lol
Yeah! Watching this show always gives me this overwhelming feeling of peace during it's quite or happy moments with Hilda having fun and just enjoying her surroundings.
in season 1 and every season the intro of hilda flying threw the purple sky is a hint to her being a fairy as shown as in the last episode of season 3. ( atleast a theory but it would be very cool if true!)
This season 3 can't end like this... I felt it was very unfinished, and it had an unsatisfactory ending, I'm not saying that it was terrible or bad. But seriously, despite having a small cameo, it made me very sad 😞😞😞. They should have made Johanna's parents return to the human world, if they had returned the series would have had a great ending, but I cried, for 3 weeks and I'm still sad, this can't end like this. The series has to continue. 😭😭😭😭😭
I just finished watching the finale season and I loved it 🥰🥰🥰 although I wasn’t expecting Hilda’s dad to be goofball coward, when I first saw him I thought “Nono he is not her dad” I was honestly expecting the bell watcher to be her dad that would be more believable and I wished we could have gotten a bit more of Woodman, I thought he would play an important role considering he’s so mysterious 🤔
i would definitely not call her dad a coward? did we watch the same show? he risks his life for her on multiple occasions and even cherishes her picture in his locket more then some gold. I really liked how they introduced him but didn't force him to be the spotlight, he was just another cog in the story which made the show as good as it is.
@@BomegaJohnson you can hear the cowardice in his voice and the way he talks he sounds like he lies and judging by Hilda’s mom tone of voice he left them at an early age of Hilda’s life before even meeting Twig. Plus I think he was just added in the production of season three because come on let’s be honest we all thought that the Bell watcher was Hilda’s dad 😒, with the way Hilda talks to the bell watcher is completely different from she talks to other adults and the fact that Hilda’s mom never met the bell watcher seems like it was kinda hinted to that conclusion 🤔
While this was the end of the show, it is still possible for the books to add a little more to the fairies and their island, after all season 3 as a whole actually came from the series of tie in books that was made after the original run of graphic novels ended. Either way it was fun while it lasted.
I love this series so much. I love the adventures, exploring the unknown and that most or all of the creatures and magic are part of myth and folklore. A part of me is sad that the series end, but another part is glad that I have watched this series 🥲.
It's a shame that the series came to an end. Hilda could have had more than three seasons and additional episodes; its world had so much potential. Unfortunately, Netflix didn't give enough love to Hilda.
The reason why that is is because the show was tightly in cahoots with the comics original creator which wanted it to stay within the same vibe. I liked that they didn't milk it, part of the reason why the show is so great is because they didn't milk it.
So that's an example that her grandfather and her aunt both of them have the same blue hair just like Hilda which means that Hilda is Half Human and Half Fairy too than!
idyllic, peaceful, unchanging, eternally pure and allows those who reside there to remain young physically and mentally forever? the Hilda Fairy Country sounds like what I'd call a perfect world...
while I like fantasizing about adventures, in real life, I hate danger and being forced to struggle. I'm autistic as well, and so my ideal society or world is one with eternal peace, stability, and never having to change from what I'm comfortable with.
a world where I could be young and immortal, and spend eternity enjoying a peaceful, happy, idyllic, and wondrous world forever? Hilda says "scary", I say "paradise!"
Something I still don't quite understand was the situation with the island/entity dying. What was the cause of that? Did the trade with Victoria staying do anything to fix it? Astrid implied that the entity didn't really need new blood, like that wouldn't actually save her, but that a blood sacrifice might. So I don't understand exactly how that worked out. I'm left feeling a little off about the ending with Victoria van Gale. Like, logically I guess it works that her acting as a willing new resident trades Johanna her life/freedom, but emotionally it just feels too convenient. I guess it feels like the big final problem was solved not by anyone sacrificing anything, or by quick thinking or a clever plan, but by circumstances aligning at the right moment. Like it logically checks out as a solution but it feels really unsatisfying, especially when we don't get to see what was up with the dying island/entity in the end. IDK, something feels missing, or not fully earned.
I just finished it and It was a great way to end the series Also I think a small spinoff where johanna is the MC and we get to see her adventures and her parents and astrid making the most out of them, That would be so cool
3:00 A more relevant example of this would be the Codex Regius and other written forms of Norse mythology, which was largely passed on orally and was written in a few instances.
I didn't seen Johana showing any fear or hostility towards magical creatures in general. I could have missed something, but she seemed willing to entrust Hilda to Twig and later the troll mother, Trila, and was friendly towards Alpha, Tontu and the troll child, Baba. If the scenes from the Deerfox episode was anything to go by, she was entirely comfortable in the forest. I'd say that her fear and hostility was directed entirely towards the fairies whom she blamed for the disappearance of her parents. The loss of her parents and her aunt's decision to block out her memories of them definitely impacted her ability to grow and mature, which, I believe, was why she reverted to a child with no memories following her parents' disappearance when she entered the Fairy Island. I also think that when Johana regained her memories, she also realized that her parents would never be able to return to the Overworld and that's why she didn't want to leave. Finally, I think the reason the spirit of the island accepted Victory Van Gale's offer was because it sensed her intelligence, vitality and basically good nature and realized she could give the island new life, maybe even become the island's new spirit and allow the old one to die in peace, knowing that the island would live on.
All the connections to biblical stories are a stretch. Norse and Germanic folklore has its own rich history that was disconnected from semitic cultures for thousands of years before Christianity came knocking. Although biblical stories are some of the most well known, I think it's an inappropriate form of cultural communication to draw parallels when we have much closer examples. The Aesir gods, for example, had ever-plentiful fields and eat from apple trees tended to by Idunn, which grant them immortality, and Asgard is a much more relevant example than the Garden of Eden. Alternatively, simply comparing this version of the fae to extent descriptions of fairy folklore would've been great as well.
i have 1 question, is hilda's dad harry potter? (prob not but a code said that, prob to be funny >.>) also 2nd question lying about the 1 question thing, is the fairy mound, dimension, thing >.> the no where space of the outside? (if anything was stated in the video, well i didn't get through it much yet, my mind was about to explode from everything i saw >.>)
They mention that "new blood" isnt coming in anymore so it seems that the land needs more Farries to survive but because of those hills being destroyed it does'nt have thag ablity anymore so its likely dying but I assume weather woman might be able to help with that
Time doesn't stand still in Fairy Country, Mr. Overspeculation! The Fairy Entity covers the island in glamour magic to make everything appear idealistic to the inhabitants. The reason that Phinium and Lydia look younger than they should is because that's how Johanna remembers them best. Astrid literally explains this to Hilda in the Season 3 finale. Pay attention next time.
@@kwayneboy1524 Maybe that's the case, but remember that we're seeing everything from Hilda's perspective. Hilda has never met her grandparents before now, so she would have no preconceived expectations about them. And the last time that Astrid saw her brother and sister-in-law was the exact same time that Johanna last saw them, too.
I think the final season would have been better if it had more time to explore the points you brought up in this video. I think if it had been the same length as the other seasons, it would have felt less out of pace to me.
The only overarching stories I can maybe see is Hilda and her dad expanding on their relationship. The only other overarching story is maybe dealing with the Polecat and him stealing from other mythical creatures.
I would really like to see the fairy island get taken down. Its still kidnapping people and its still dangerous, so a season four where everyone destroys it. Something like that.
It’s a bit annoying how there’s two times where Hilda removes some charm, just because she think that’s right. She probably think everything is there, like the bells for trolls, but even there was at least one exception. It also seams inconsistent with how much she wants to live in or close to the wild and how close she wants to be to her friends. She wants to live where her great aunt live, which is so far so it’s her first time being there when we see them go, but she don’t want to live on the fairy island. Which admittedly is in another dimension where she can’t just leave
I agree with the first, but I think the second has more to do with her feeling influenced by her instincts, nostalgia for a place she had never known. Sometimes it made me annoying, like in episodes like the one about the primitive monster, and I don't deny that she is still impulsive and somewhat inconsiderate towards her mother, but at least I am grateful that she and Joahanna have treated each other much better this season, in addition to the fact that I don't forget that he is barely leaving childhood

@LyrLyrPantsOnFyr near the end I think. Memory kinda fuzzy rn.
@@greenstarlover1 ok thx
@@CartoonUniverse Because I'm sure you have a lovely voice. Also, because it would be funny.
does this guy not remember season one at all? Because we first meet the weather lady in season one and are told that Joanna’s family on the house, Hilda lived in at the beginning.
Since this season dealt with Faeries, it felt like...a tiny missed opportunity that they didn't include any of the Fae Lords in the mythos (let alone referenced them.)
I'm of course referring to characters like Mab, Nicnevin, Finnvara and of course; Oberon, Titania and Puck
The heck is Fae Lord?
@@kwayneboy1524 Fae is another term used to reference fairies, in other works of fantasy.
As for what a fae lord is, it's basically the king of all fairy-kind
@@SilverScribe85so was that cloaked creature not there head fairy monarch in the show?
Also if Fae seemingly can reproduce with humans and each other why do they kidnap people?
@@kwayneboy1524 Ever heard the myths about creatures called Changelings
@@SilverScribe85 nope, care to share em?
It's said that at any point a fea is to enter our realm, nature forms a natural ring from the portal. Though sometimes these rings are hard to spot and the portal may even still be active enough for someone to accidentally walk or fall through.
One thing that confused me a bit was that Johanna’s mum was a human, but she gained fairy powers from living in the fairy world for a long time. Does that mean everyone who lives in the fairy world eventually gains fairy powers?
Also they didn’t exactly explain why Johana’s parents couldn’t leave; if they said they would die if they left that would make more sense but they just left it at “we can’t leave, im sorry Johanna”
Also Johanna’s parents have blonde and blue hair but somehow Johanna got brown hair? How do those genetics work?
hair color can skip a generation
I was actually disappointed when I found out the fairies doesn’t look similar to the elves (small, cartoon stick figures, but maybe with more colorful floral and mushroom elements, or maybe similar to the ones they showed us in Tofoten) but I still enjoyed the show either way
It's funny to think Hilda and her mom almost got trapped in Everhood
There was a reason why Hilda’s hair color was blue! Mind blown!
Awesome video
:D
⬇️People who cried after Hilda
Yeah! Watching this show always gives me this overwhelming feeling of peace during it's quite or happy moments with Hilda having fun and just enjoying her surroundings.
Eu sunt unul dintre ei.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢. .
in season 1 and every season the intro of hilda flying threw the purple sky is a hint to her being a fairy as shown as in the last episode of season 3. ( atleast a theory but it would be very cool if true!)
When Hilda met her grandparents was my favorite part!
easy the best show of 2023 . this type of show and how it's good enough to make me think what happened to Disney
I clicked on this video because of the thumbnail in my notificactions, I that was about 'KaBlam!'.
Why does David *STILL NOT HAVE EYES!!??*
I really need to watch this show
I just finished watching the finale season and I loved it 🥰🥰🥰 although I wasn’t expecting Hilda’s dad to be goofball coward, when I first saw him I thought “Nono he is not her dad” I was honestly expecting the bell watcher to be her dad that would be more believable and I wished we could have gotten a bit more of Woodman, I thought he would play an important role considering he’s so mysterious 🤔
i would definitely not call her dad a coward? did we watch the same show? he risks his life for her on multiple occasions and even cherishes her picture in his locket more then some gold.
Exact, ar mai trebui făcute 03 ca să fie finale și să fie adaptate într-un al patrulea sezon. ❤️🦌🦊⬜🟦🟫🇸🇯.
I literally cried
Its so sad that this is the end of my fav show..
I love this series so much. I love the adventures, exploring the unknown and that most or all of the creatures and magic are part of myth and folklore. A part of me is sad that the series end, but another part is glad that I have watched this series 🥲.
Idk why but the fairy part of this season reminds me of Bayonetta origins but they're still so different
Yeah both her and Joan seem to come from a mix of two beings and had their memories altered for tragic reasons
I never knew I wanted another season I am glad they gave us one
It's a shame that the series came to an end. Hilda could have had more than three seasons and additional episodes; its world had so much potential. Unfortunately, Netflix didn't give enough love to Hilda.
True but a good show knows when to head on out
The reason why that is is because the show was tightly in cahoots with the comics original creator which wanted it to stay within the same vibe. I liked that they didn't milk it, part of the reason why the show is so great is because they didn't milk it.
So that's an example that her grandfather and her aunt both of them have the same blue hair just like Hilda which means that Hilda is Half Human and Half Fairy too than!
Quarter fairy.
@@irritatedlibrarian9057 Exactly!
@@irritatedlibrarian9057 just like her grandparents!
Maybe the writers will make another movie of about her
I would like that, because it seems like there still more to unpack with the Fairy Realm.
@@johanstenfelt1206 there wont be remember its the last season and they ended it here
@@Infinite_Epicness hm, that’s fair.
Still, what did they end with? What kind of Ending?
One that feels conclusive or a Open One?
idyllic, peaceful, unchanging, eternally pure and allows those who reside there to remain young physically and mentally forever? the Hilda Fairy Country sounds like what I'd call a perfect world...
while I like fantasizing about adventures, in real life, I hate danger and being forced to struggle. I'm autistic as well, and so my ideal society or world is one with eternal peace, stability, and never having to change from what I'm comfortable with.
a world where I could be young and immortal, and spend eternity enjoying a peaceful, happy, idyllic, and wondrous world forever? Hilda says "scary", I say "paradise!"
i am on the job rn
Heres praying for another hilda season4 or another Hilda movie
Hilda is a human fairy hybrid.

This series is Incredible! I’m really gonna miss it. 😢
Johanna is a changeling, in my eyes.
Amazing hilda final season
Sad to see the show end but I’m happy the finale season was great

A more relevant example of this would be the Codex Regius and other written forms of Norse mythology, which was largely passed on orally and was written in a few instances.
Just the finished the whooole season and love it.
The fey: Just when you think you're out? They pull you back in.
A.G.
This is good
What if they make a seasons 4 that would be a surprise
If there had to be more seasons, hilda must develop the fae magic in her...
Interesting
Hilda is soo Wholesome and it takes its time to tell a good story also this series gave me diabities😂😂😂😂 I love this show❤❤❤❤
i have 1 question, is hilda's dad harry potter? (prob not but a code said that, prob to be funny >.>)
also 2nd question lying about the 1 question thing, is the fairy mound, dimension, thing >.> the no where space of the outside? (if anything was stated in the video, well i didn't get through it much yet, my mind was about to explode from everything i saw >.>)
there are also a LOT of eyes in the overworld around a few of the episodes, prob to show something was always watch >.>
i have too many theories and some of them are dumb (especially the harry potter one, the show probably put that there as a joke)
The last episode was really something
I was hoping you’d talk more about Eugene T^T
Was the island dying because it stopped taking ppl? As some point it will fully die because it won't take ppl anymore yeah?
They mention that "new blood" isnt coming in anymore so it seems that the land needs more Farries to survive but because of those hills being destroyed it does'nt have thag ablity anymore so its likely dying but I assume weather woman might be able to help with that
its been on 2 days. im finished the 3rd series already. my goodness the last episode was amazing-
I loved the whole show!!
I'm gonna miss this show
I love this show this much and this season builded my heart Tring highly recommend ❤❤❤
And why does Hilda and Astrid see them as that too or do their forms shift based on perspective?
@@kwayneboy1524 Maybe that's the case, but remember that we're seeing everything from Hilda's perspective. Hilda has never met her grandparents before now, so she would have no preconceived expectations about them. And the last time that Astrid saw her brother and sister-in-law was the exact same time that Johanna last saw them, too.
I think the final season would have been better if it had more time to explore the points you brought up in this video. I think if it had been the same length as the other seasons, it would have felt less out of pace to me.
Man. I haven’t used Netflix in a long time, so I completely forgot that they aged up in a time-skip at end of the movie.
Just wondering how did you get the clips from season 3 for this video?
This felt like a great ending for the series, but I’m wondering if they do do a season 4, what would be the overarching story.
I don't think they ever Will but I'd be down for a 4th season
@@ThePokemonPrinceYT I feel the same way but who knows.
For a 3 season show, it has better character development than other shows.
I remember when people thought bellkeeper was Hilda's dad😂
POV: you had to wait 5 hours to watch the third season to watch this😅
It’s a bit annoying how there’s two times where Hilda removes some charm, just because she think that’s right.
I was watching the final season i thought it was over 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I WAS WATCHING IT ALLLLLL NIGHT 😂 IM SO SAD THATS ITS OVER 😭😭😭
I love how this serie explain why hilda have blue hair but then wait... THEN WHY JOHANNA HAVE BROWN HAIR
Probably a resessive gene from Lydia’s parents
