Thanks Nick! This video really struck a cord with me. I know some people might have thought you were just stringing us along but I think it's just that you know how to spin a good yarn. As for the rope jokes, weave all been there. I hope this is knot the last we see of the rope!

It would be cool if you sewed a rope bowl and put it in resin.
One of my favorite things was a fluted snack bowl that was gold fabric in clear resin. Fancy, lol.
You really roped us in with this idea. I was a bit tied up with life issues beforehand but this concept really tugged at the very fibers of my being.

Nick, first of all I love supporting another Nick. Honestly though, I love watching creative videos like these, but your personality and "Waffling" truly sets you apart. Watching you create is refreshing and a different experience in a great way. Totally dig the rope bowel, but one thought is instead of trimming the loose bits of rope from the rim, coat them in resin as almost "handles" could really set it over the top.

Pretty cool project. You may want to consider using paracord. It comes in hundreds of colors and patterns, it’s easy to work with and it’s relatively inexpensive
You could also fit a lot more colors together and more tightly packed, as well.
paracord does have that white core though may not be as attractive once turned :(

That white core is easily removed.
Just cut either end and pull out.
Common tactic in bushcrafting to get thinner cordage.
Oooo...it would be cool if it was chopped into like, inch long segments before putting it in the mold!

Bowl looks awesome. This project is all tied up. The surf board resin worked great. Don't forget to jump the rope on your way out
Nick please do this experiment. Can you color the second part of the resin and when you pour them together just leave it to cure that way? Don’t stir it at all. Then with the results (the parts that actually cure) make an globe or something? Please.
Of course you'll do the NEXT Makers Central. Everyone would be lost without it.

This is the most outstanding project that I have seen. That bowl is going to look good sitting in someone’s home.
I just finished a handle for s sword I've made. I used nylon Paracord and covered it in resin. It doesn't penetrate, but it coats it, well...just have to use a $#!+ ton.

Not sure how you got "roped" into doing this project but it had me in "knots" with laughter. LOL Okay, I didn't laugh all that much but I had to use the pun. Definitely an interesting project ya got there. I do like it. I like it a lot!
All the material coming off the bowl would make an awesome new project.
Love this one! Maybe you could use scraps and bits of things that are normally thrown away? Bits of yarn, bottle caps, paper bags, plastic bags, junk mail, etc. Thank you for continuing your art!

It never ceases to amaze me how the uniform IOR of resin makes it ideal for filling in scratches in itself, such as after sanding. Like, I understand how it works on a microscopic level, but every time I see it happen it still feels like magic.
You should make surfboard out of crazy material I would love to see them or Paddle boards I love to see it

Use your air compressor to separate the two bowls. The pressure of the air should separate them from the resin. Might save the bowls for another use.

god i'm so happy i don't need to miss the "glove snap sound" and the "surprise baby", makes me laugh always, i know its probably happen and still turns a smile on my face, in a otherwise very depressed day of my life.
You can always put a funky wood rim on the rope bowl if you don’t like the fluffy rope popping through the rim.

Since most of the rope appeared to be nylon, the application of a heat gun would have shrunk down the bits sticking out without discoloring anything (though, watch the level of heat!).
Have you ever done a project with a bunch of different colored glass marbles? I think that it would look really cool. Maybe with some lighting shining through all of the different colors. I think that it would be jubbly bubbly. Lol

That's a great looking bowl, sir. I was concerned about the rope snagging in the lathe or on the sander, thought you might chop off most of it with the band saw. I'm glad nothing bad happened in the process! Looking forward to the next one...

A crochet hook or a very long Tunisian crochet hook may help grab ropes, threads etc and help you place them where you want them. They come in many sizes.
