  • EnnuiGoblin goes over a situation in which it is better to respond to a base capture threat by putting pressure back on his opponent's weakened base. Try this tactic next time an enemy threatens your bases but leaves his position undefended!

Ahhhhh the reactionary tank. If you ever find yourself thinking "I am in trouble, I will build a tank!" .. well. Don't do it! :))

There are times where throwing down a tank to secure a base is a good option, but typically it only works on large high-income maps

I'd say tho, I've used tanks in svs in manners that allows me to do something else that otherwise couldn't. I've used them in a manner where I either I push into their side or as a wall against a push. The center of a given area is I'd say usually the tank's strength at a upfront cost of setup.
I've remember using tanks against far east and won in svs. I was able to masterfully use their strengths when he tried to engage me without one himself until the later on.

Nice video. Makes me want to turn back on my random game matching status so I can go back to crushing people’s hearts and dreams but I get too obsessed with playing against real people. Alas I have to settle for destroying the bot opponents. Never played in a tourney either. I’m sure I would obsess over it way too much.

In the second displayed turn, the yellow could have finished off the marine on the mountain without moving the maruder, then damage green's marine on the healing pad and capture with no possible counter. Unless if yellow's RNG didnt allow him, in which case his mistake was leaving his north base unatended, a single marine on a mountain as a preemptive defense, and another on the mountain on the middle can give enough map control to yellow not have to worry about a base swap

The tank in SvS is usually a bad idea, unless you know exactly what you're doing. It's getting worse, if map is low income and if there's a wide frontline. If the base is also isolated and surrounded by mountains, with only one way out (which is actually blocked), then it's 100% guaranteed the tank will be utterly useless :)
