Something that is also very worth mentioning imo is skill point demand. You want at least 2 of the characters to not desire to use their skill every turn so as to save skill points for demanding units. You wouldn't want March - Asta - Dan together because March wants to refresh her shield often, Asta wants to e often, and Dan wants to use skill for max DPS. You WOULD want Fire MC - Asta - Dan though because Fire MC only wants to taunt once in a while. Abundance characters typically don't heal every turn, so their slot automatically counts as "not using skill points often." Qingque actually wants 3 non-demanding teammates so she can gamble which I happen to use on my main team Fire MC - Clara - Bailu - Qingque.
To add to the list of "SP generators," Pela is essentially an ult-bot who only uses her skill in niche circumstances, Hook and Serval are both accessible off-DPS characters that only intermittently need their skill, and Tingyun only uses her skill every 3rd or 4th turn. Also bear in mind that if you pull Seele, your SP economy is going to take a hit because she is a thirsty bitch.
Thank you for the tip! I subbed March with Nat in some of the most recent runs because I felt like she was useless without using E (this is not entirely true coz the freezing effect her ult does can be situationally valuable- but I just learned this yesterday) but if I used E then I wouldn’t have enough SP for other chars. I immediately felt the difference after switching to Nat but couldn’t quite put it into words and you said it perfectly
@@disnark Yeah, Serval was my immediate thought. You E (or if you attacked with her technique, you don't even need to), then ult and then you have 4 turns where you can just basic attack with no issue.
I pulled Bailu on beginner and Gepard on pity and I was lowkey sad cause I wanted a cool dps. I was stuck on world 3 with lvl40 characters till I ran Bailu Gepard Serval and Dan and I fucking ran through that shit I barley lost any hp at the boss fight but it did take a while 😂
once his second phase is up, DO NOT kill the other 2 soldiers untill gepard puts up his shield. AoE attacks or the path effect does much more damage to the shields
I'm actually one of the people who almost doesn't use Natasha, because my garantee 5* was Gepard. I didn't really want him, but god he's such a strong character, and after Belobog arc I really like his personality too. I don't see a lot of praise of him, but this guy is the only reason I cleared worlds up to 5 without any real trouble. I still use Natasha on some of the bosses, but it's not too often, so I have one more free spot for any character I want
Fun fact played naruto online in the past and shielders were ranked 1 followed by debuffer/dealers second, healer/buffer third cos earth mc was too strong too topple down that shielders were prioritized the most
Might try not using natasha and add another dps as I've got gepard aswell my team so far has been gepard, natasha, tingyun and seele and destroyed everything so far so adding a antother dps could speed things up further
I’ve been surprisingly happy with Fire MC, Natasha, Bronya and Arlan combo. Arlan being able to hit hard without using any skill points keeps skills available for others basically all the time. Nat can heal him when needed, Bronya makes his hit do more damage and skip the line while FireMC shields everyone.
This is incredibly useful especially for people like me who totally ignored Nat because I got Bailu and Yanqing on my first 10 pull, and have both Himeko and Dan Heng on my team just because I simp. Also, I totally didn't know about needing to worry about putting the tankiest character by the edges... I just subconsciously place them on the first or last slot like I do with my DPS Zhongli in Genshin lmaooo
Not me who has been ignoring natasha until the end of the jarilo-VI Im running stelle, m7, himeko, and jing yuan or dan heng(?)(the *5 guy with a pet tiger) Basically just outdamaging them before they kill me
A reason I love brining Arlan into electric weak enemies bc not only does he dish out decent damage, but he doesn't consume any skill points as it's HP instead. Love him at times!
Another good thing to note is that skills like March 7's auto shield which applies to the lowest hp% ally at the beginning of combat will automatically choose the left most character if there is a tie for least health (if your entire team is full health)
ASTA is amazing in this game. You can set her up in such a way that she melts all enemies stagger and health bars while buffing your entire teams attack massively fully building your special every turn every other turn which speeds your team substantially. Which also would be correct equipment on your team if your speeds over 120 increases your entire team to attack by at least another 32%. It's insane.
last week i successfully beat the echo of war dragon and earned the “allies act for 100 times in a single battle achievement” and decided i will NOT be doing that again learned a lot from this vid sincerely, someone who ran two preservation + abundance in one team with only one (borrowed) hunt character

Looking back as an experienced player from the future this guide in it's general advice is still valid. The only additions I'd made specific mention are prioritising team synergy over element coverage for general non-specific use cases, putting healers next to preservation/destruction since hp scale go brrr and finally for general use content mention of combination between hunt and erudition gives you most of what you need if not using that then hypercarry destruction. (I know hunt and erudition can work hypercarry but destruction's blast targeting gives a lot of versitility)
i got quite a few characters built, so i got a lot of different teams i'm running, but the team i have the most fun with is seele/serval, asta, welt, natasha. there's something so funny in seeing the order of turns in the corner and watching enemies get pushed to the bottom constantly because of all the slow and speed buffs
This video was incredibly helpful. I’ve been obsessed with Honkai Star Rail ever since it came out and haven’t had a full understanding of how the battle system works, so I’ve been running into challenges with the endgame content. I really appreciate your guidance!
Currently my team is Himeko, Herta, Tingyun, ans Natasha. I'm trailblaze level 30 and this tean has been working great for me due to both himeko and herta just spamming their follow up attacks with each other which is especially helpful when doing calyx
Just want to add that while hunt and erudition operate the same, they are needed on different things. I am not yet far but I think hunt is better for story progression while erudition for farming. A proper leveled himeko and herta can chain follow up the resource node until the last wave. But the 2 of them will fall off fast in boss or mini boss battle due to their kits. Herta will fall off hard while himeko can barely keep up
Im currently running herta, himeko, Dan Heng, and Natasha on a team (all at lvl 40) but I do want to include the Mc on my team. Thanks for the team guide! It was a lot of help, and I took tons of notes!
if you have gepard as your first 5 star, then congrats your team are protected from annihilation, you are on the right path of easy mode I was one of those who looks down on gepard before, but when I got him and use him, boy I was wrong currently my balanced team consist 1 dps (depend on boss element) + 1 tank + 1 buff (could be replaced with sub dps alt element weakness/debuff depending on situation) + 1 healer

I’m thinking I’ll run Natasha pela bronya and a hunt character but I appreciate this video although I still don’t know how to get pass quests to level my characters up this definitely helped
Currently running a MC tank, Nat, Arlan, and Hook as my current team. Love playing around with Arlan's high risk high reward gameplay style since he can hit like a truck when he really low. Also doesn't spend any skill points with his ability which helps alleviate the small skill point pool you have when in battle.
damn, i never thought their order mattered much. i just arrange them based on how cool they pose in each position lmaoo. thanks for this, i'll try it out😂
Already have two teams to play in Forgotten Hall. 1st team: Gepard, Natasha, Seele and Bronya 2nd team: Preservation MC, Bailu, Pela and Dan Heng. Last Serval on the bench in case need better an AOE to clear specific enemies.
My team comp is Fire MC - Seele - Natasha - Gepard, but after watching this video I’m thinking I should switch their positions lol Sometimes I switch out certain characters to fit the weakness break of enemies, but Natasha and Gepard are usually in my team if not always.
My current team is Fire MC Bronya Dan Heng and Gepard. I was running Natasha at one point instead of fire mc but with two shielders I don’t really need healing so the overall team dps is higher. I do have her built when I need healing though. I plan to pull for jing yuan when he comes out to round out my team more
4:32 And exception for Aventurine, it is better for him (overall team) placed on slot 2 or 3 ;D My FuA Ratio Team (Topaz, Aventurine, Robin, Dr. Ratio) My FuA Clara Team (Clara, Aventurine, Robin, Dr. Ratio)
Super interesting video. I got lucky and pulled Welt as my first 5 star. My main team is Fire MC, Natasha, Tingyun, and Welt. Welt is my main DPS and I run fire MC as an off tank weakness breaker that helps Natasha keep Welt alive long enough to carry the team to victory while Tingyun boosts his attack and helps him ult more. I also sometimes use Jing Yuan and Yanqing depending on the elemental weaknesses of the enemies or if I need two teams. Since I built Welt to hard carry as my main DPS, the other two DPS just sorta help clean up whatever Welt doesn't get if they're paired with him 😅 Otherwise they do a pretty good job with fire MC or March keeping them alive if Welt isn't there.
My general purpose team is fire MC for sustain, tanking and SP gen, Welt for off-DPS and debuff shreds, Seele for hypercarry, and Ting to feed Seele and SP gen. It seems to be working *extremely* well in most content.
Seele, tingyun, Natasha, trailblazer infinite burst as well as infinite turns so you can legit turn seele into a killing machine because her burst gives you another 2 turns if you kill an enemy after using it
The team I’ve been running in the early game is Natasha, March 7th, Seele, and Himeko. Natasha and March 7th give the rest of my team more survivability through heals and barrier while also providing type coverage with physical and ice. Meanwhile Himeko and Seele provide the damage. Himeko is there for her extra attack and aoe to whittle down targets while Seele provides that nice burst damage to kill low health targets, get a reset, then kill again, typically causing breaks when she can to enable further follow up attacks from Himeko. The only time I swap out one of them is if there is no enemy with a weakness to them. If there is no Fire weakness, I swap out Himeko for Serval. If there is no quantum weakness I swap out to either Serval (if there is a lightning weakness) or Dan (if there is a wind.). But that’s rare that I swap out.
this all confuses me so much 😃 because i usually play games just for the story & characters, but since this game came out quite recently i decided to learn how to y’know play “correctly” my brain is befuddled
I run Welt, Gepard, Natasha and Seele. I'm f2p but my luck has been insane with early pity on banners. Like one night I was pulling on weapons banner for the heck of it after getting Seele E0... I got her lightcone at 2 pity. Granted i've never been lucky in gacha in genshin so i'm extremely happy. So I went to pull for her eidolons, I got E1 winning the 50/50 at 17 pity. My account: Blessed.
Skill point management is also important. I team build usually consist of 1-2 unit that will use their skill every turn, this one typically your dps like seele or dang. 1-2 utility unit that use skills every other time like march or asta , and 1 unit that is basically an emergency button and SP printer like fire mc and natasha.
Bronya and Fire Trailblazer is one combo that I've loved using for a while. Allows for Caelus to do his basic enhanced attack, and then shield aggro right before enemy attacks with Bronya giving him a 2nd turn, which generally leads to him having his ult charged. Bronya is also so good with Jing Yuan, since two aoes with an ult makes his lightning lord stack up attacks, and it hurts a lot. Yeah, I like Bronya
This is incredibly helpful now i can play better the team i use rn is: Preservation trailblazer (stell) Abundance Huohuo Harmony tingyun The hunt sushang
best team for free to play is to all out your saved currency on jingyuag (lightning super dps), that way you can focus on only 1 dungeon to farm your best tank gear and best lightning dps gear in the same time, unless you get a good wind/ice combo (like bronya/yanqing). the supports doesnt matter as much.
video: Perseveration has the highest taunt level my HSR experience so far: enemies ignoring my Gepard with more likely to be attacked lightcone + Trace that increases chance for him to be targeted JUST TO TARGET MY TINGYUN AND KILL HER OFF BEFORE SHE BUFFS ANY FURTHER
that team is literally so complete, seele for dmg, bronya for spd and dmg buff, natasha heal and cleanse, and fire mc just provide more tank and survivability for the whole team
one team composition I'm trying out is a double healer (natasha and lynx since those are the two healers I have atm), one tank (typically gepard because of his ult), and then one last DPS depending on what the main type weakness is. its slow, but its working better than I thought it would
This makes me feel better about the fact that at TB21 I've been spreading XP around several characters for different situations. Especially since I only have one 5*. Another video said to focus on particular chars the whole time but I guess that does only make more sense late game?
Seele also synergizes in double hunts and, given the right enemies and speeds, with sushang surprisingly well. They can fuel each others turn orders in a way while dishing out heavy ST damage in trash mobs and ofc just high boss damage. But running double hunt is also super glass cannony in nature. It's p fun
im glad videos like this exist i play genshin and found honkai through tectone and so i have it in my phone but i look foward to it comming to ps5 just so it can look better so im learning enjoyed what iv played so far
Good video as always. 😊 Better to break Synergies based on the categories your discussing. Makes it clearer to search for those that only have specific characters/types.
Still really early (just cleared jarilo VI) but so far I've just been using Gepard, Serval, Sampo, and Asta. To be fair, this comp just shreds virtually everything in Jarilo VI, so not much flexibility was required, but definitely gotten some clutch use out of Pele (replacing either asta or serval). Likely because it's early and I haven't invested too heavily in them yet, I haven't found much use for "the hunt" characters even in bosses (tried the physical one, the chicken ult chick), but I'm sure that will change with time. That said, the dot debuff from sampo makes him work super well with serval even for bosses. Looking forward to actually difficult content later though everything has been a breeze so far
I'm building a team of Shushang, Himeko, Pela and Gepard currently - shielding is essential, the fire and ice work to break most shields, and Shushang finishes them off with insanely high dmg 😄
Damn das a very good vid, im in trailblazer rank 32 and lucky got clara and seele despite being f2p, going to try to build 2 separate teams for different bosses so thx for the vid ✌🏻
YUP Natasha is a must build!! at first i didnt care much for her but as the game goes along it gets pretty hard and shes really great help,. shes in my team now permanently LOL!!
My main team is Qingque, Fire MC, Bronya, and Natasha. So far, it's my best team do far, as we have a healer with a shield character that shields the other teammates, another character that attacks with a character that raises attacks and crit damage
current team is seele, hook, shampoo boy,and sushang. It gets tricky deciding which attacks to use since they all like to use their skill but, hook isnt too dependant on her skill and thankfully neither is sushang so it works.
I m still quite proud with Welt, Natasha, Pela, and Serval as my line. I have Welt as dps, debuff, slow. Serval as shock. Natasha to heal, and Pela to reduce def and debuff. But still not sure if it's a good line up
im still pretty new but i like using clara as a tank dps with march shielding her so she gets more aggro and asta for her speed buff and she shreds enemies with fire weakness while bailu heals asta and march when they are in trouble
I enjoy Bronya natasha march 7th Arlan. Idk why people use Arlan less often or that he is low in tier lists. His skill not consuming points in a team with Bronya feels huge. I like him more than Serval or sampo too.
With the team setup you would probably want to the healer next to the tank than the support because "most" (with quatation because of loucha) scale on hp
Oddly enough, I independently built a ftp team with a similar comp, just changed to be able to slap on auto battle and not worry about dealing with annoying mobs. Phys MC + March 7th + Natasha + Asta This beat ash of war bosses that I was "too underpowered for".
I have Fire Trail Blazer (with Gepard Light Cone), Welt, Dan Heng, Pela, Natasha, Asta, and March 7th all at level 50 (with level 50 light cones). If it's Calyx waves for materials there is no point putting Natasha or March 7th. Go strong offense focus and your good. If it's regular boss then Natasha or March 7th just for no worries and simplicity, usually not strictly necessary unless really bad enemy typing. Echo of War or Simulated Universe needs good teams though and while weaknesses are of course a factor my favourite team is Natasha, Fire Trail Blazer, Welt, Pela. Both Welt and Pela Ultimate's give AOE defence reduction! Go Nihility Go! Dan Heng is interchangeable for Fire Trail Blazer or Welt if the enemy has wind weakness though. Side note, despite all the Hype I actually found Ting Yun weak and stopped upgrading her. I assume this is because I don't have a hyper-carry main dps outside the starter Dan Heng and so there isn't someone who's attack and energy she can buff enough to make up for her doing so little dps. I concede she would be ace with Seele (and I am 60 pity in as a ftp so wish me luck).
At first I played erudition only units later I realized the team comp didn’t stand a chance in longer fights so I tried fire mc, Himeko, Yanqing, and Tingyun and signifantly improved my win rate
Since my first 5* was gepard I never built any healer to this very day since I almost never take dmg at all. I'm planning on pulling for Luocha tho to occupy this missing spot I'm just worried about his synergy with other characters.
dont want to overwhelm you guys with too much info, so this one covers basic team mechanics and quick infobits on every character we have so far

I'm already overwhelmed. It's why I'm taking this game slowly lol.

Sometimes I switch out certain characters to fit the weakness break of enemies, but Natasha and Gepard are usually in my team if not always.
Correction! March also has a cleanse if she gives a shield!
Favorite characters > Proper Team build
My current team is Fire MC Bronya Dan Heng and Gepard. I was running Natasha at one point instead of fire mc but with two shielders I don’t really need healing so the overall team dps is higher. I do have her built when I need healing though. I plan to pull for jing yuan when he comes out to round out my team more
4:32 And exception for Aventurine, it is better for him (overall team) placed on slot 2 or 3 ;D
My FuA Ratio Team (Topaz, Aventurine, Robin, Dr. Ratio)
My FuA Clara Team (Clara, Aventurine, Robin, Dr. Ratio)
WDYM VETERAN PLAYED FOR YEARS ???? THIS GAME RELEASED THIS YEARRRR
this video has helped me out immensely , cheers
Thanks for the Clara comp, I'll prob go with that. Also for explaining the positioning thing
I am below tl40 and family is doing good. Gepard Natasha Serval ASTA/tingyun.
Me with 3 ice members in my team, yes a lot of coveragr
Freeze go brrrrr
Take you for the guide. I like experimenting other comps but since resources are scarce it'll be awhile before you can have freedom...
"Harmony has a low taunt level"
*Tingyun would like to know your location*
this all confuses me so much 😃 because i usually play games just for the story & characters, but since this game came out quite recently i decided to learn how to y’know play “correctly”
my brain is befuddled
I run Welt, Gepard, Natasha and Seele. I'm f2p but my luck has been insane with early pity on banners. Like one night I was pulling on weapons banner for the heck of it after getting Seele E0... I got her lightcone at 2 pity. Granted i've never been lucky in gacha in genshin so i'm extremely happy. So I went to pull for her eidolons, I got E1 winning the 50/50 at 17 pity. My account: Blessed.
Watching this 9 months later, because I'm lacking at this game

Combine bronya with seele as well and you have seele wiping out waves or taking out half or more of the boss health
This is incredibly helpful now i can play better the team i use rn is:
Preservation trailblazer (stell)
Abundance Huohuo
Harmony tingyun
The hunt sushang
best team for free to play is to all out your saved currency on jingyuag (lightning super dps), that way you can focus on only 1 dungeon to farm your best tank gear and best lightning dps gear in the same time, unless you get a good wind/ice combo (like bronya/yanqing). the supports doesnt matter as much.
I want there to be a dual attack between 2 characters or something PURELY so I can see Bronya and Seele kick some ass together.
video: Perseveration has the highest taunt level
my HSR experience so far:
enemies ignoring my Gepard with more likely to be attacked lightcone + Trace that increases chance for him to be targeted JUST TO TARGET MY TINGYUN AND KILL HER OFF BEFORE SHE BUFFS ANY FURTHER
ive really enjoyed using seele, bronya, natasha, and fire mc. very fun :)
that team is literally so complete, seele for dmg, bronya for spd and dmg buff, natasha heal and cleanse, and fire mc just provide more tank and survivability for the whole team
one team composition I'm trying out is a double healer (natasha and lynx since those are the two healers I have atm), one tank (typically gepard because of his ult), and then one last DPS depending on what the main type weakness is. its slow, but its working better than I thought it would
This was really helpful thank you
This makes me feel better about the fact that at TB21 I've been spreading XP around several characters for different situations. Especially since I only have one 5*. Another video said to focus on particular chars the whole time but I guess that does only make more sense late game?
Thank you for the Tips it helps me as a new Honkai player ❤😅
Seele also synergizes in double hunts and, given the right enemies and speeds, with sushang surprisingly well.
They can fuel each others turn orders in a way while dishing out heavy ST damage in trash mobs and ofc just high boss damage.
But running double hunt is also super glass cannony in nature. It's p fun
I've also REALLY liked Seele and Herta together, because of how often Seele will proc Herta's follow-up
im glad videos like this exist i play genshin and found honkai through tectone and so i have it in my phone but i look foward to it comming to ps5 just so it can look better so im learning enjoyed what iv played so far
Good video as always. 😊
Better to break Synergies based on the categories your discussing. Makes it clearer to search for those that only have specific characters/types.
Skill point economy is the single most important thing tbh
9:44 Welt slowed editor so much that, Welt's image took longer to be removed.
Damn das a very good vid, im in trailblazer rank 32 and lucky got clara and seele despite being f2p, going to try to build 2 separate teams for different bosses so thx for the vid ✌🏻
Fire mc+natasha+2dps
All my team in every content 🤣
for me it's usually (not in team order btw) dps/fire MC, natasha, Asta (or March if I keep dying), dps
my dps are yanqing, serval, or dan heng (not as much since yanqing and him share the same light cone)
can clara work for the hunt slot since she is a dps aswell?
Can’t wait to start making taunt gauge theory
I’m currently testing MC fire, Serval, Seele and Natasha. It’s a pretty fun team!
Great guide! Tyvm - now i gotta level natasha XD
Ty daddy for explaining
I enjoy Bronya natasha march 7th Arlan. Idk why people use Arlan less often or that he is low in tier lists. His skill not consuming points in a team with Bronya feels huge. I like him more than Serval or sampo too.
With the team setup you would probably want to the healer next to the tank than the support because "most" (with quatation because of loucha) scale on hp
My team is currently Trailblazer, Himeko, Sampo, and Seele!
jing yuan waiting room
fr, cant wait for him!! i have almost enough wishes to 100% guarantee him so i just need to get his materials
Me but with luocha and blade
@@Sunrise20403 i want luocha too so his banner will be a nightmare for me lmao
Luocha waiting room where ya at aha
Yep I'm waiting for him and Blade. Honestly thankful that I lost the 50/50 on the Seele banner coz now I'm guaranteed him
I have a question, how do i do world 3 the ice knight shield and buffs are insane
go full preservation
Try get the cards that cause freeze or defense/healing cards they helped me
@@augustus_argento5641 i tried but he just does too much damage and he gets too many turns
@@spe3d i tried def but havent tried healing and freeze tho im not sure if it will work
Oddly enough, I independently built a ftp team with a similar comp, just changed to be able to slap on auto battle and not worry about dealing with annoying mobs.
Phys MC + March 7th + Natasha + Asta
This beat ash of war bosses that I was "too underpowered for".
I'm planning on pulling for Luocha tho to occupy this missing spot I'm just worried about his synergy with other characters.
yes, im not the only one calles sampo shampo
what comp should i go against phantylia? been struggling with her for a while, putting some trust into the comment section here 😭
Do note tho that Himeko is also a follow up character who abuses burn and DoT
been running a DOT squishy team with Himeko and Shampoo, and oh lord does it shred through bosses
