Jenilee, I would so enjoy it if I could rent that lovely room for a week. You have made it most comfortable. I think you have just enough pillows on the bed. And the colors of them are wonderful. And that stuffed chair? Very nice touch. I live alone in my house, so finding time to study the Word, write, or read is never a problem. But your transformed room beacons my soul. I know your in-laws will be truly blessed to have that space to rest in. Well done, woman of God.

I don’t add all the extra pillows; just 2 standard fluffy pillows; nicely made bed with a simple teddy bear sitting between the pillows in each guest room.
I am a painter and one of the guests room is all matching tie-dye: dressers, nightstands and headboard. I also have warm white rice lights around the perimeter. This room is set up for kiddos or tweens😊 it’s the only bold room in the whole house. The rest of the house is a light sage green with mahogany trim/cabinets which I find easy to decorate although cooking anything on time is a challenge or burnt as I am always running after time and time again slips away.

My dad was from the south and he and my mother instilled in me a deep sense of “southern hospitality”. When people would come they would feel completely at home and you would do all you can to help them feel like they are at home. I enjoy hosting a place for people to come for visits.
That's beautiful! I have similar memories of my grandma. It always felt like coming home. Because she always made us feel so welcome. Traditions worth passing on for sure!

Beautiful room! Growing up we hosted guests in our home a lot. My dad pastored a church in a small town and there was no hotels/motels close. My mother did as you have done and made the guest room pleasant and homey. We do not have many in house guests but when we do I remember all the hospitality that I was taught. Amazing how the art of hospitality is slowly going away. I would love to see you do a food hospitality vlog! ❤

You're right. My best cleaning happens when company comes, especially when they stay the night and see other rooms besides the living room and kitchen. We don't have company often though.

Wonderful job! And a perfect reminder that we don't need to buy new things for their visit. Using what we have and love. Especially this time of season when the mentality of stores is just to buy buy buy and fill fill fill our spaces! We are hosting Thanksgiving this year for my husband's side of the family and have a guest list of 37! It'll be a wonderful time and I am loving your organizing tips and how to prepare! Even new window sills get buggy and dirty. Your room is going to be so pretty and cozy. We just got through doing the same thing to a room no longer in use. It turned into a really nice guest room. I think whoever uses it will feel cozy and warm. Love from Missouri

Not only am I a less pillow person, I'm a less EVERYTHING person. As a guest, I appreciate an empty room, aside from the bed and a tissue box on an end table.😊

The room is so beautiful and lovely. We all have places in our homes that need some love and our attention. Having a family and loving on them is always number one for me. Please don't feel embarrassed about a thing, your children have a mama that loves them and cares so much about them! Enjoy your time with the family that is coming.

If you have Wi-Fi you might put up the password to that on a pretty little sign!! I did that and it helped my guest to know they were more than welcome to use it and they didn’t have to ask!!

I am exactly the same way when am having visitors over.
You have made your home and the room so very inviting. Top it off with your cooking and baking skills, anyone would go away with a sense of love, comfort, peace and happiness 🤗💓 I would love to have our grandbabies over for a sleepover and maybe buy that book and read it to them 💓 Our house is a tiny-ish house it would impossible for all of them at once. Storage sounds like a real challenge.
Yea its tricky. When the time is right we plan to build a garage/shop. And some built ins.
One of the things I do is when a guest leaves I strip the bedding wash and remake bed. I also clean the room so it is ready for next guest. I might have to only goin and dust it and put some fresh flowers before they arrive. Takes so of the stress off by already having it completed.🩷🩷🩷

That room really turned out great. I love those blue and white lamps. I love blue and white dishes and other things to decorate with. I think we all have a space that looks like your room did before. Mine is my downstairs "office/sewing/etc. room". I really don't use it like I used to because of the way it is right now. As we go through things around the house and declutter, it seems like the things I'm just not sure I'm ready to get rid of yet end up in there lol. I totally know what it's like to do the mad dash cleaning before company! Maybe I just need to pretend that's happening sometimes to get a little more fire going so that I can get more done lol.
This room was the same for me. Whatever I didnt know what to do with ended up there. Until you have to take a day and rummage through and organize it. I also love blue and white dishes!

So Monday, November 19 is my birthday and then this Thursday is Thanksgiving so I will be making the turkey and my daughter-in-law‘s will be bringing a few sides and of course they help me tidy up afterwards. Oh my god they’re great and we will be here at my house till one of them. One of my sons hast to leave with his wife to his mother-in-law‘s which I understand the others will be here with me until the evening probably and then everybody will go home and will relax Next year though, I really do not want to cook. I was thinking maybe we go out to eat or I will get it catered I just at the point where I just don’t want to be cooking like I said my husband is very sick I am very handicap with one wrist. I broke my wrist in October and it’s still not well, my father-in-law who lives here with us has dementia so it’s kind of hard for him as well so hopefully next year we’ll figure it out. We’ll talk about it this Thanksgiving about next Thanksgiving. You have a great Thanksgiving with your family.💜
