Hello, Welcome to my channel. My name is Jenilee. I am a wife, a homeschooling mom of 4 and a passionate homemaker. I am inspired by the skills of the past. And driven by our dream to make this a family farm, and a self sufficient home. Join me as I restore all the good, old, simple, and wholesome ways of homemaking. Growing our own food, sourcing whole foods from the farm, cooking from scratch, and all the simple but lovely skills (sewing, preserving, decorating) it takes to run a country home. My purpose is always to bring the focus back to the home and honor the people within the walls of my home. Nothing is more important to me than the work done within the walls of my home and more importantly for the people in it. I'm restoring Home, Family and Spirit.

Mexican Wedding Cookies
2 cups butter softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans
cream butter and sugar for 5 to 7 minutes
gradually add flour. bake for 12 minutes at 350.

Slice and Bake Cookies

Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies
Ingredients:
1 Cup butter, softened
1 C. Sugar
1 Large Egg
1 Tbl. Vanilla
1 tsp. Salt
2 1/2 Cups Flour
7 oz bittersweet chocolate
2 cups walnuts (optional)
2/3 cup Raspberry Jam
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar on high speed about 5 minutes until fluffy.
Add egg, vanilla, and salt mix.
Mix on low and add flour in 2 batches.
Melt chocolate in separate bowl. Either in microwave stirring every 30 seconds. Or over the stove.
Add melted chocolate to dough and mix with a spoon or by hand.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
Press thumb into cookie while still warm . Add Jam.

I probably would have watched this video earlier but I spent the day baking cookies and making candies myself! I already had Mexican wedding cookies on my list for tomorrow and made thumbprint cookies today as well, looks like we have very similar traditions!

You can mske a chai simple syrup and use it to brush on cake layers. Add to your frosting.

1/4 cup of hot cocoa powder in the mug. But we just add it until it tastes right.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions that my husband and I do is to get our kids new pajamas and a new movie or game that they open on Christmas Eve. My mom always did that with me and I loved it as a child! We also save our cookie decorating (the sugar cookies, at least) for Christmas Eve. And we always watch "The Polar Express" on Thanksgiving night when we get out the tree and decorate.
I love tinsel, but please try not to use it. I live in Arkansas and live trees can be donated after the season to put in our lakes to provide fish cover. But you can not put tinsel on the tree if you want to donate it. Just a thought. 💕
