An aquarium 1HP unit will easily chill that volume of water . Mine goes down to 3°c (37f). Aquarium chillers are way way cheaper and often get them second hand mine cost £90 plus a £30 pool pump filter.

I have the 1ph penguin and I live in Las Vegas. My cold plunge is in the garage out of the sun and I did spray foam insulation. I have no problem keeping the water at 41 year round. Chiller was $1500 ish

Keeps it at 45 no problem (currently in Dallas where the high has been hitting 90). I have it at 45 because my wife also does it and she can't handle it colder than that. I was using 8 or so plastic bins half full and they'd pretty much freeze. I've since heard about silicone ones that work great. So, if you're interested in freezing lots of ice, check those out.

I wonder how far the hoses can be extended to allow the chiller to be protected in a nearby structure with available electricity with the tub outside. Leaving the chiller outside here is a no-go since it will soon be infested with insects seeking the warmth.

Just ordered my Penguin Chiller setup for my Ice Barrel. At the end of your video it looks like you have bungee cords holding the chiller return bracket in place. Just curious why the bungee cords are needed.
Hey there- I believe the bungee cord you see is one I use to keep a piece of insulation on the lid. It's just draped over the chiller return bracket until I put the lid on.
I'm not sure... it's a good question. I would be that if it was indoors, it could run 2-3 tubs. But outdoors in the sun, that would likely overtax the unit. That's my guess.
Damn, $2k for the chiller. I think my best bet is a large chest freezer. That seems the most affordable option unless you want to deal with freezing ice bottles.

It looks like it works really well for you since its a nice portable type of design. After seeing the cost for the chiller though, i would probably spend more money getting one of those tubs you see all these infuencers have. Yeah, only the Cold Therapy Chiller one is designed for cold tub. The others are specialized industrial chillers most with some important deficits like inconvenient connections and lack of pump.

My return is also through a 3/4” bulkhead about 12” from top. My pump, chiller, filter and ozone generator are all hard plumbed in a plastic yard box off to the side.

If you're getting 40 degrees, you're doing dang good. Like Forever Solvent said, anything under 50 is great. Mine is currently set at 44 degrees (compromise with my wife lol).

I've had a flawless experience with the company... But I do understand that shipping chillers is a challenging business. As far as I've heard, any issues have been resolved with Penguin without issues.

It's a tool that works to rapidly and consistently chill and circulate the water. Some people are willing/able to pay that price for the convenience and ease of use, others aren't.

I've just used the same chemicals (very low doses) that you''d use in a hot tub. And with the chiller... there hasn't been any algae.
Throw a couple pieces of copper tubing in in before and after you get out helps with the algae too

Great idea! So far I really like it... super simple and easy - even with the traveling.

YOU KNOW VERY WELL THAT YOU ARE STILL ADDING ICE TO IT BECAUSE 37" DEGREES IS THE SWEET SPOT, BUT NICE SETUP
I'm not still adding ice. The cooler can get the water below 40 degrees (35, I believe), but I have a wife who can't handle anything colder than 45, so I compromise for her.

I've had a flawless experience with the company... But I do understand that shipping chillers is a challenging business. As far as I've heard, any issues have been resolved with Penguin without issues.

@@JasonGrubb No, one of the gyms I go to that had a PC did though. Took forever to get any kind of resolution. In the end, I think you're right...shipping anything like this with sensitive components is probably challenging. It's certainly not as easy as shipping a tub of protein. LOL

It's a tool that works to rapidly and consistently chill and circulate the water. Some people are willing/able to pay that price for the convenience and ease of use, others aren't.
