  • One of the most common questions I get asked is about retinoids - when is the right time to increase the strength?
    Not all retinoids are created equal, and it's important to understand the differences between them in order to choose the one that offers the most benefit for your skin.
    In today’s video I dive deep into when is the right time to upgrade your retinoid strength, and the key questions to ask yourself before you do.
    Unsure about which retinoid is right for you? Then it might be worth seeking medical advice, especially if you have a specific skin concern. The good news is that investing your time and energy in this one step will offer tremendous benefits for almost everyone.
    As always, thank you so much for watching and for all your support!

    This is great advice. I used my lowest dose for a year, then middle dose for a year, and I just bumped up to .1% tret this week. There really is no rush! You’ll get benefits at every prescription level. Retinoids are a long game process

    Very excited about this. I am using Nightly (and Brightly, the mask, eye cream, gel cleanser, micellar and moisturisers) .. one happy lady here! I think I will up to the pro and maybe do 2/3 nights a week initially and then every second night eventually. With each of your products I have introduced them gradually and they have really worked for me like nothing else. I am 56. I no longer waste money on trying new things because I have found the answer. Not having perfume and harsh chemicals has helped my rosacea.. I used to spend a fortune and still have a compromised barrier and bright red face. Tret was too irritating and drying for me. This sounds gentler but as effective. The combination of excellent products and Lisa Eldridges no perfume foundation is a win for me. Thank you so much for all your advice and fresh, informative approach to skin care. What an absolute star you are. 💗

    I love your channel. I love the way you educate us, esp for us who already dip our toes into the skincare world with research (or at least for me with a medical background) it's like having my own personal dermatologist telling me what to do with my retinoids and other active ingredients. Also I appreciate how you don't mention much brands so we only take the theoretical part of it.

    The information in this channel is just pure gold ❤️
    I started my tretinoin journey last November, it was a bumpy road, but now, after swapping my 0.05% to 0.025%, I can use it everyday without any problems, I don’t even use the goggles technique, but it was so handy back then
    Thanks for all the content ☺️

    I still don't understand what I should do, after I reached retinol1,0 and, I am tolerant while using it on a daily basis. Should I go on with 1,0%, or should I increase the strength? And what next? Till what strength should it be increased over years?

  • @beccaschlomann7592

    Perfect timing. I was wondering about increasing my tretinoin strength. It’s currently .06 and I have no issues all using it every night. My dermatologist was hesitant about me increasing it, and while it’s helping my acne, I really want as much anti-aging power as possible.

      Stay at that strength for a while. Eventually all strengths work out the same in the end. If you can use that dose nightly then do it. If you can’t use a higher % nightly then it’s not worth it in my opinion

      stay with the one that you can use nightly with no problems - it's frequency of use that counts

    I have been using retinaldehyde 0,1% daily for the last six months, and retinol 1% for two years before. Would the new Nightly Pro serum be a step up from the 0.1 retinaldehyde? Could I start it right away or should I start with the regular Nightly. Thank you ❤

    I have been using my current retinoid strength for about a year. I do it every other day and yet my skin still gets irritated and super dry if I accidentally put a tad bit more than usual. That can't be normal.

    • @angelinebiswas7611
      @angelinebiswas7611 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a sign of dehydration in the skin. You need more moisture. It makes all the difference especially in the winter.

    I have been on rx tretinoin .025% for 13 YEARS 😅. Recently I finally made the jump to 0.05% with Altreno. I had tried to slowly jump up with compound formulas and it was physically impossible. Then a friend of mine mentioned Altreno and how something like only 4% of the tested population had irritation. I did some more research and ended up getting that one prescribed. The first week I used it every other day or every 2 days and my usual .025% on opposite days. I got semi dry but nowhere NEAR as bad as when I tried .035%. Now 2 weeks later I’m able to use it nightly with zero irritation. It is amazing what science has done in the past 5 or so years in this arena.

    I really have a curiosity and I haven't clarified it yet. When you reach the point where you feel comfortable with the retinoid you use, and you can use it every night, can you add other active ingredients to your routine before applying the retinoid or just apply the retinoid and that's it or you just have to focus on going for a higher strength retinoid? This is something I have not understood until now.
    I am now in the first month of using Flawless Nightly eyes and face and I still have a long way to go until I reach the point where I will tolerate it completely, but all I can say is that it has changed not only my skin but also my mood, and much more. I just love it!😍❤ I'm so happy that I found this product ! Thank you!

    • @ClarissaNitihardjo
      @ClarissaNitihardjo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it depends on your target. The thing with retinoids is that as long as the ingredients you use don't cancel each other out (e.g. salicylic acid) and it doesn't iritate you, you can combine it with your retinoid.
      If you think your goal such as hyperpigmentation or acne has not been reached yet, and you can tolerate other ingredients that would help with your goal, you can incorporate it. But if you feel satisfied with how your skin feels, you don't have to add more nor increase the percetage. Just keep up with the consistency

    Nice advise, thank you! I'm back using my RetinOl as I had stopped it late last year which I wish I didn't 🥹 Could you give advise about the Granactive / HPR, is this derivative STABLE? Could I opt for a product with this ingredient in it in a dropper bottle or does it have to be airtight?
