    Please, please, please, please, please do a dedicated TRETINOIN video. How to start, who can and can’t use it, a complete skincare routine for using it and what other skincare should and shouldn’t be used along with it. Please! All the Tretinoin user-guide secrets, tips, and tricks would be so appreciated!💕

      If you do a video like this, can you also address tret use for people with seb derm on their face? I've been using tret for about a week (.1% retin a cream) and it has prompted a very intense seb derm flare. Not sure if tret can actually cause this or if it's coincidental.

    • @laurdunf
      @laurdunf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Update: I now wonder if it was a seb derm flare up or a tret burn. Red burning patches in the two conditions seem pretty similar. Anyway, would love thoughts! I didn't have this reaction with .025 gel, maybe because it was a lower dose. I hope tret can work for me!

      I’ve been using it for a year now and just upped my dose and here are some of my tips!
      1) your skin is most likely going to get worse (mine was for around 2-3 months before it started really improving) so patience is key
      2) ease into it - do it every few nights, heavy moisturize (slug) on your off days ONLY (never the same night!)
      3) after your skin adjusts (you’ll know when) bring gentle exfoliations back and use once a week (no retinol or slugging that night)
      4) SUNSCREEN
      5) be gentle af on your skin - gentle cleansers, gentle/moisturizing products. Cut out any harsh acids/ingredients/face washes

    Tbh one of the best things about you guys being together is seeing where you agree, where you disagree, where opinions may vary based on situation/circumstance, etc. and of course your discussions about why. Seeing you bounce off each other is definitely more entertaining haha but more seriously, I find it better for understanding/education too. Once when I was newer to using retinoids I figured using a pore strip on my nose would be fine because pore strips aren’t remotely as strong as wax strips. Since I'm on a fixed income, I can only afford the 0.025 but a tube lasts like 3 months. Comparative to most skincare and actually cheaper than most of them. So it was not too expensive! And the 0.0.025 is plenty strong enough, if you don't sandwich it. Just toner, serum, tret!💗Hope this information enlightens some people 😁😘🤗

    Love you guys together but I think this works. I would rather see changes to the format rather than you not doing this anymore due to logistics. The information you provide is great and you do it in a very approachable and understandable way. The most googled questions = what inquiring minds want to know. Seems like a good jumping off point. Thank you.

    So glad you are still going to be making videos! This is the most reliable channel for skin care advice and education! I don’t mind this format at all. Maybe you could make some content over video conference like zoom or face time and record that so it’s more interactive between you two.
    Also, I have been trying so hard to aclimate my skin to tretinoin but it still gets so sensitive. I apply a small amount using the “retinoid sandwich” method, the first two days my skin looks/feels like it has a sunburn then at about four days after application my whole face starts to peel and flake off. I try not to use any other actives on my face the whole week after i’ve applied retinoid, just gentle cleanser, moisturizer am/pm and sunscreen during the day. But the same cycle happens every time. Should I just suffer through the burning and flaking and keep using the tretinoin once a week to acclimate?

    I used Differin for about a year on my face and then went to .025% tretinoin cream with no irritation . I am using it mostly for Sun damage and anti aging I am in my 60s. In the last few months I have noticed the hyperpigmentation is getting better but I am getting white areas little white circles / spots. I guess you call it hypo pigmentation , lack of pigmentation. the dermatologist said he didn’t know what that is ?? I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this either with tretinoin or just in general. Anyone? Doctor?

    • @maenad1231
      @maenad1231 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      IIRC Tretinoin effects melanogenesis so the hypopigmentation might be “normal” as long as it’s not lighter than your natural _(non-tanned)_ skin tone.

    • @lynneburrell676

      @@maenad1231 unfortunately it is, its like a white spot vs a dark spot.. I never tan my face anymore and wear sunscreen daily.. thanks so much for replying! It makes me wonder if the tretinoin is not allowing any melanin production in some spots. I have three now that are like pencil eraser tip size. Frustrating!

      I also have white spots like that and i have used tretinoin off and on to treat acne but I don’t think my white spots are caused by the tretinoin only because I feel like they appeared while I wasn’t using tretinoin at the time. I do believe they have talked about white spots on this channel before so it might be worth searching around for that for more info. I haven’t asked my derm about it so I also don’t have much info but just wanted to say yes I know what you’re talking about and mine don’t have to do with age and probably wasn’t caused by the tretinoin

Tip for hybrid video: to use the same background (digitally) and position the camera/mic at the same distance. If you use the same setup devices it's even better. I think the video as a whole will fell less distractive and let people focus on the content.

    Really enjoyed this format! It's cool that you planned it and split up the questions and topics. An idea for the editing, instead of the "Swoosh" Star Wars kind of clip, maybe have you both on the screen and split your picture? If that makes sense? It might take some more script planning, but that could be a cool way to se you together even though you can't. Keep up the good work and love to see more ingredients videos. Maybe make a series of this? "INGREDIENT" ANSWERS. For example with niacinamide, vitamin c, azelaic acid, exfoliating ect.

    Nice job on your first hybrid video! I really appreciate the content and the hybrid format seemed to get better as it continued. Perhaps you could try doing a split screen video, like they do when someone is interviewing online. if possible, I would love to see some sort of a visual on what the Retin-A is actually doing in the skin. Perhaps some sort of drawing of the skin and the different layers and what the retinol is doing for anti-aging. I also think it would be nice to talk about the different Retin-A percentages .01, .05 etc and the advantages/disadvantages.
