Merry Christmas 🎄willie! Look at this way, you've had them and enjoyed them, far better then not at all. Treasure the memories of the good times and enjoy that new bike😎
Delighted you are going for a Classic 500. I've never regretted buying mine over 2 years ago. The new 350's are great but the 500's are based on a gentle evolution of the original 1950's bike, gradually modernised over all these years, si it is in effect a modern 1950's bike, with all the character that this offers. The engine itself was a new design around 2010 but retained all the character of the original by being an OHV unit, just like the new Norton's. Not only does the 500 have over 33% more power and over 33% more torque than the new 350's but it is also 5kg lighter and don't forget that the 500 has self adjusting hydraulic tappets, which work in the same way as those used in the famous Rover V8 3.5 litre car engines. You also only have to see the amount of metalwork on the 500 to realise that these hand built bikes just became to costly to produce moving forward, which is why the new 350's use a shared generic frame. They are also Euro 4 rated, so far less restrictive to tune and modify than the new 350's. I've added a DNA air filter, iridium plug, and a Fuel X Lite kit to mine, as well as a Hitchcock's full stainless steel decat exhaust system too (which alone has saved another 8kg+). If you scan down my Facebook page I made a couple of short demonstration videos if you are interest (I have no youtube channel) 🙂
I'd spent the last year/18 months listening to people rave about the classic 350 and five minutes into a test ride I discovered why, falling in love with it's particular charms. It's not like a 20hp moped, it's not like a 40ish hp bike - it's like a Unicorn - something truly individual & unique, with the mystical powers to make every ride a thing of pure joy.
Thanks for the sub buddy!! So the dyeing of the 350 seat WAS a success.. I used a cheap synthetic leather dye/paint off of Amazon, it took 3 coats, letting it dry between coats... Because I don't have the bike any more I can't say how well its lasted though! Good luck!!
My 2016 Classic 500 (same colour) now has over 10k miles on it and it just keeps getting better. It loves to rev and as the revs rise it smoothes out. Lovely. You're gonna love it Willie
I'm new to the bike world and about to take my license. It was seeing the 350 classic that made my mind up to take my license. Is it a good bike to start my journey on?
I think it's a perfect bike to start your biking journey buddy 👍 but I'd urge you to take one out for a test ride first, not everyone loves them as much as me!!
Hi Willie, I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. I was the same years ago with motorbikes. They came and went rather quickly but that has changed completely, I am a "Keeper Biker" now:) I look forward to seeing your Classic 500 when you get it. I have also ridden a Classic 500 and one of the bikes I had in the past was an Iron barrelled Bullet 500 that I brought new in 2002. I wish I kept it but I traded it and got a GS1150, that bike was just too big and heavy for me. I'm happy with my selection of bikes now, A Vstrom 1000, a Himalayan and a lovely Interceptor and I'm not going to pain any of them:) Merry Christmas and a Contented with my motorbikes they will be Keepers New Year Sandy
I have been a serial car & bike buyer, and suffered the inevitable 'guilt' that accompanies selling one after just a few months of ownership. However, a few years ago I had a think about it and realised we are all merely the custodians of vehicles we buy. I now embrace owning a nice car or bike for even just a few weeks and have no guilt over selling them or even the losses that invariably results....anyway, enough waffling, I'm getting back to Auto-Trader.
Hi Willy I got the 500 classic 2020 great bike came from the cb1300 beast but age and weight had to let it go you will love the 500 in the country keep up the good blogs 👍👍 happy Xmas
Some bikes just seem to fit perfectly. When I bought my AJS Model 8 a couple of years ago, we got off to a poor start because of a flat battery but as soon as I got the engine going and set off on my first ride, everything felt right and the little 350 pulled very well. It's so easy to form a bond with a bike.
With regards to your camera text reversed, go into settings scroll down to camera and toggle off (mirror front camera). It will still show wrong while taking selfie or videos but plays back the right way around.
I am seriously considering adding a Classic 350 to my garage in the Spring. I do like the 500 and have looked at a few of them in my RE dealers. I love having a kickstart, which is an affectation from my XS650s.
I've been through a similar phase of discontentment Willie. I've sold a few bikes I should probably have kept. Always on the lookout for the next best thing, the sweetspot perhaps. I think it was simply that I failed to join the dots of what I wanted vs what I needed. For me, there was probably an element of self-sabbotage too, the reasons for which probably go deeper than my buying/selling tendencies. Feeling far more settled lately, I think I may finally have identified what makes me feel good when I'm riding. The Classic 350 has made me realise that after nearly 45 years of riding, I have nothing to prove and riding without invoking the slightest degree of adrenalin is now where I'm happiest. Many of us ride according to simply which bike we've slung a leg over. After all, "pootling along" on a sports bike just feels wrong. It's simply the wrong use case. As you know, we have the T120 now too. Not a fast bike, but definitely a Gentleman's Express and even that encourages me to "make progress" at times when I can't be bothered to do so. We're looking forward to seeing the Classic 500 mate 😊

Like I said yonks ago character is when you feel what the motors doing, and RE motors do that in spades, Hi Will it’s funny but I’m aware of several people on TH-cam who built huge following very quickly with 350 classics then they get bigger posher bikes and the their views etc take a nose dive, looking forward to what you do with the 500, 👍😊….. Pete 🇫🇷
Yes I lost loads of sub's when I sold the classics Pete 👍 maybe they'll come back when the classic 500 arrives?!🇫🇷

Leave the camera as it is. The people who mind don't matter - the people who matter don't mind.
Haha! Love that.. Thanks Dave 👍
Stop it mate ! You're making me think of my old 500 . I should have kept it !!!!! They just get under your skin 😔. You never know, I might sneak one into the garage again. C.H.I.P.S . Wow ,me and my brother and the neighbors use to use clothes pegs and peg cardboard to our push bikes to flick of the spokes and make a bike sound and ride around in pairs chasing the bad guys and then swap about 😄😁😆😅🤣😂. Good times, many, many, many years ago. Take care buddy. LA Merry 4 out !
😂😂😂😂😂 Haha! Great comments mate!! You've got it beautiful Bonnie now and that's a hard bike to beat
