Test drove a SG yesterday. I thought the bike was going to be too small for my old 6’ frame. Perfect fit, fell in love with the bike. Smooth engine, lots of torque. Runs silky smooth at crawling and cruising speeds. Ordered the “drill” green.
What another terrific Rob Story. Geez… he’s gonna haunt yer bed!!? He’s jinxed ya for sure! 😂 Nothing at all wrong with tossing out ideas and thoughts on bikes. It’s what keeps the juices flowing! “Don’t judge”, I always say! All the best with the move!
That note was hilarious! Rob really had a wonderful sense of humor!🤣 As to the Bonnie and the Shotgun, it's all good! Don't let anyone stop you from making change if you want to!
Funny little story, I was invited to the RE shotgun 650 US unveiling. Was drooling over the design of the bike up and down however after a more than 4 hour event they never started the bike nor shown even video clips of its sounds. So I left the event thinking, it's a solid looking bike but too bad they're too ashamed to show how it sounds... to this day I still haven't heard one.
Honestly AJ it was the sound that made me look...sounded SO good! As I said in the video I'm not sure if they were stock pipes... Cool that u were invited to the unveiling thou! 👍
What an amazing friend you had in Rob! Monday riding home from work on my Moto Guzzi found myself grinning thinking of one your stories of Rob's antics :) As far as bikes, your garage your call but I don't think I could part w/ my T120 ever (the Guzzi may go soon lol). The T120 is definately snatchy at low throttle but if I'm commuting or riding in town I put it in Rain mode and smooth as can be. If I'm going for ride in the country Road mode is more fun and I'm not spending much time at low revs anyway. Cheers!
My reaction to the Shotgun was identical, mainly down to the hideous colourways it comes in. In grey it's a different bike to look at. The only thing I don't like is the corny tank decal, it deserves a solid badge.
Strangely I’ve also come round to the Shotgun after initially feeling it looked all wrong. It helped when I stopped thinking of it as a cruiser. It’s kind of an in-between bike in its own category. Also, yes the T120 throttle is snatchy at low speeds, as is the Speedmaster. Seems to be a fuelling issue on those 1200 engines, probably for emissions.
T120 is snatchy at slow speed, select rain mode when in town it improves it no-end. Also others have said changing rear sprocket to a 39 tooth also improves it and makes 6th a bit more usable.
Very funny again 😂👍 the shotgun is my favourite Royal Enfield made to date , I need to test ride one . I like the fact that you change your mind, Change is good and keeps your channel fresh 👍
Willie , you're going to have to replace rhe T120 with a Shotgun . The doubt has entered your mind , you will mull over this dilemma until it overwhelms you . The spectre of the shotgun will consume your objectivity . It will follow you everywhere , whispering in your ear . "You know you want me ". "I am yours , just say yes ". Don't resist Willie , just give in . You know it makes sense . Do it now . PS . Please send your old Bonneville to F Hamster Esq . House of Latte , Twaddle Lane , Cornwall .
I could see the shotgun being your nice commuter / nip to the village shop bike, and another classic 350 seems like a must buy. The issue is that you are hooked on the Bonneville's torque and if you get rid of it, you will forever miss it. Been there. Looks like it's going to have to be three buddy.
I test rode a brand new T100 bonneville a couple of days ago and not snatchy at all, it was a amazing ride and was in the stealth colour and looked beautiful.
@@2wheeledwillie395 you never know, it might be the answer to the Classic 350 being a little small in the seat for you. I'm guessing the Shotgun maybe larger and a better fit for your frame. It kind of strikes me that it's a natural evolution to the Bullet. I've not seen one in the flesh yet, I don't think it's been released here in the States and the nearest Enfield dealer is 350 miles from our house.
Very funny story. I'll say this, I have a Classic 350 and a V7III. A slow back lanes bike and a fast bike. I think that's a good mix. I had 3 bikes once but neither of them got ridden enough. Now , what those bikes should be is another question entirely 😅. Have a great weekend.
Willy ,have you thought about a remap on the Bonneville? They run it with a very lean map from factory, EU emissions ! Think your regret selling it, you will miss the tourqe.
Don't understand why anyone would have anything to say about you and your bike choices, it's entirely up to you pal! Personally, I love how you jump from one forever bike to another, falling in and out of love on a whim. Just be thankful it's only bikes. I did it with women for a while 😳 all good now though, I've got a few and ride whatever takes my fancy on the day. Bikes, that is...
Willie you should do what makes you happy however if it was me and I’m actually going to do this☺️ I’m keeping the T120 the power 2 up wife on back is awesome but the RE650 you really will feel the difference if she’s a big un😅 she’s probably not👍 I’m now looking for a Re 350 to ride local the sound of that single and the looks a unbelievable, cracking funny letter off Rob what a great guy. Thanks for sharing buddy regards, Jim🏍🏍☀️🙏
That was the quickest I've ever heard anyone say Shaun's fault😂. The split seat configuration on the Shotgun might not be as comfortable as the bench seat on the Bonneville.
I think in an effort to take artistic shots, Royal Enfield, sometimes makes their bikes look bad on their site. Anyway, keep the stories about Rob coming. They crack me up every time.
It is snatchy. I usually leave mine in rain mode to be fair. The thing with the T120 is, it's the best all-rounder. I don't think it can be beaten, but if you're looking for a change I'd hang on for the Classic 650.
I've got the Oxford Heritage wax cotton panniers on my T120. I put inflatable camping pillows in mine to pad them out 😂 Then if I need to put anything in I can let the air out as much as needed. Sounds daft but works a treat 😉👍
Hello mate, I’ve also gotta get back to Wilson and Gilbert slugging it out at the Crucible, fantastic stuff! Just wanted to tell you not to sell the Bonnie before trying a Booster Plug. Relatively cheap, very easy to install, plug and play. I have fitted them to two previous bikes of mine and found that they absolutely iron out all that low speed snatching. PS. Good weather on the way! 👍👍😁
Hey Jon, hope yr good? Yes a booster plug might be the answer mate 👍 I'm definitely gonna look into it...yes it's definitely getting warmer, just needs to stop raining!!
Rob wrote a keeper note there. Maybe frame the note and hang it above your bed as a compromise? lol I got the Shotgun wrong as well. I think the reason was because I was wanting a 650 Classic, that mimics the 500 Classic. I think Mr TAYM mentioned in the past that his T-120 was snatchy around town. So, it might just be a thing. I absolutely love your T-120 but, hey... I'm going to trade my KTM 890 Adventure for a Yamaha T-7 as soon as the weather straightens up and many people think I'm bonkers for doing that. But it's the little things, snatchy throttle at low speed for the T-120 or rampant failing cams on the KTM/Husqvarna 790/890 platform bikes that make us consider other options. I did take my bike in to my local Husky dealership and had the valves and cams checked along with the 11K service and luckily mine looked great. That just means my conscience is clear to trade it off now. Will I miss the 890? Yes, that bike fits me ergonomically and it is capable of doing any riding I wanted, hi way, non-gnarly dirt riding but reliability and my love of Yamaha motorcycles is winning out over the performance of the KTM. So, I'd be a blooming hypocrite to badger you about even thinking of trading any motorcycle. 🤣 Cheers Willie! P.S. Cancer sux. Prayers for Jeff's friend.
That's right Willie, take off those PrayBans to to read 😂. Funny, poignant note from Rob. I wasn't sure if we were gonna laugh or cry 😂🤧🫡 Watch the Shotgun review by Shottos Travels when you can. It sums up a lot of what you've said 👍 Having ridden the T120 and the T100 back to back I actually preferred the fuelling of the latter. Apparently, having only one throttle body helps no end as there's no synchronization issues. I also found the Speed Twin snatchy. It's worse off a closed throttle. The RE combination of Classic/Bullet 350 and a Shotgun sounds like an excellent pairing. But perhaps park the idea of getting rid of the T120 for now? You've got an awful lot of stuff going on at the moment with the house move. So perhaps revisit the subject when you're settled in your new home?
Always the voice of reason! And of course yr right mate, now probably isn't the best time to think about changing bikes..I'll check out that shotgun review 👍 Ride safe mate
My triumph TT had a flat spot in the middle and my bigger triumph was a bit on/off in traffic which the available power on top made town riding really annoying and made me look like the eternal first big bike guy because in stop start traffic i ended up paddling like a newbie which was made even worse cos im only 5’6” 😂 my Enfield is perfect everywhere
Sorry Willie but the Shotgun is no substitute for the Bonneville imho. I just couldn't do it I know I would instantly regret it. I know I would miss that pull and I would miss just looking at it. Personally I think the Shotgun is ugly especially with that scaffolding stuff under the rear seat that turns into a rack but hey beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it's your choice at the end of the day. I also sat on one at my local dealer and thought it was very uncomfortable. Yes the T120 is a bit snatchy at low speed but I've not found that an issue and if you stick it in rain mode it goes away if you can't deal with it.
So Willy. I'm intriuged. When you pop into the Coey on your way home for those essential items the the wife has asked you to pick up, what the hell do you do with all the cardboard!!!

The T100 is not as snatchy low down many say & steers them to T100 from T120 especially if only got one bike ride through towns etc.TAYM🦒 got T120 then almost straight away traded it for T100 which still has great Torque 80Nm & low down & 100% of the torque is at 3800rpm.So riding along at 60mph & open up throttle you're in 100% of torque delivery & being a 5speed as well T100 really flies & does everything T120 does but T120 better for 2up. What I would do Willie is get a new Stealth Edition colour Blue T100 or secondhand T100 the quality is so much better than RE & more power & more torque & 80Nm is nothing to be sneezed at & get a Bullet 350 or Classic 350.A new Shotgun along with a T100 be good too but with your long legs Super Meteor might be more comfy but you been there done that. The RE have cheap soft steel bolts etc & cheap electrics which you can upgrade along with pipes & Rectifier Regulator underneath bike & after awhile gets blocked up with road grime & fails. There are videos James Slick England showing you how to change position of Rectifier Regulator to under the forks & guy makes leads for you if ask or place behind right side cover but have to remove tool box.It will take a few thousand miles before it happens.A Triumph have no such issues like RE do but they are cheap & parts are cheap. The best is to have one of each a T100/120 & a RE I would choose T100.Speedtwin 900 be great too especially new dark green one but you're to big🤣 for Speedtwin 900.
