Dude… you are THE MAN!! Just got a 03 and really don’t like how bubbly the stock dash is, I love the newer look so I’m def Gonna do this at some point 👍👍
This is beyond impressive! I have a 99 F150 extended cab and I’ve always wondered what it would like to do a newer model interior swap. This answered my imagination! Would’ve been nice to see the beginning to current state in a time lapse or multiple videos. This is awesome though. I bet this was a ton of work. How did you figure out the electrical? You plan on making the HVAC system work too?
So I used the stock gauge cluster and stock ac controls, then i built a custom headlight switch to fit into the new dash. I then found some ducting and routed them to the new vents so the ac blows out the vents. I’m actually making an update video now on new style 09-14 f150 taillights and a few other things
Would like to see a video on how to do the door panels, because man that looks nice. Another thing you might try swapping after the taillights is outside doorhandles, not sure what would fit but I know the 3rd gen explorers have really cool doorhandles
Just a heads up, expedition EL and navigator L rear door panels are a direct swap. No need to modify, they’re literally the exact same size as the 99-03 screw rear doors whereas the normal expy and nav have that wheel well cut out
Man it genuinely makes the truck feel brand new, my next video is going to be putting newer taillights from 2014 on the truck and I’m gonna go over a few things regarding the custom gauge cluster I built for the new dash
Seth rusell , I wanted to see what upgrades can be done on these ford's and came across your video. I have a 99 single cab lightning style and was wanting a fresh look on the inside, that right there is the shit!!! Looks perfect bro ...have you done any more videos ? I'm wanting to see more on the door panels ,did you get your center shifter working ? and also does the gauge cluster stay that way (like you can see the bottom and a bit of the top where it doesn't hide very well ) or can that be fixed? Oh and have you done the steering wheel? Where can I see more to what you have done to it?
If you dm me in Instagram I can send you some more pictures. But yes I got the steering wheel as well to fit, there is grinding that needs to be done on the splines inside the new steering wheel to make it work. I did have the center console shifter working but after I replaced the transmission I couldn’t seem to get the different gears to line up properly to I went back to column for now.
@grayman7622 pretty much I just made sure mine were dead even where I wanted them, made sure fully forward and fully backwards is good off the position too and then make holes in the floorboard for new bolts to go through to hold them down. There aren't holes there that will work since the floorboard is entirely different.
This is crazy man, makes me want to do it to my 03 xlt super cab. I'm curious about the airbags though. Were you able to get them working with the new seats and front end or did you just get rid of the system entirely?
Hey I have a complete 07 expedition I’m going to do the interior and front end and door handles I am tempted to swamp the whole front door swap but I’m concerned about the wiring issue’s
@@johndenham8030 i actually built custom housing to fit the stock window switches into the navigator door panels. I should’ve used the expeditions since I’m pretty sure the switches and door panels plug in and bolt up, or at least some of the connectors do
I would imagine it would, it doesn’t space the dash any further out than stock if anything it set it further in. The 11th gen f150 seats should have enough room as well.
I'm wanting to swap in the 07 expy console and shifter in my 04 expy with column shifter. What shifter cable did you use? Also what about the od switch?
I used the 07+ shifter cable and the od switch is just 2 wires on both if I’m not mistaken just need to splice in the new connection on the new shifter. You may have issues aligning the PRND up like I did once my transmission was replaced, may have to do something custom in place of shifter
I have a couple questions , I found a 07 expedition with the seats and the back seats could I use them for my 01 f150 crew cab ? Do I have to modify or would they bolt right on ?
I didn’t use the expo seats so I’m not sure on if they bolt right up but if they’re the same as the 04 and newer f150, then you’ll need to modify some stuff to get them to bolt up
Nothing really just clips in or lines up, you have to create you’re own mounting. If you use the dash frame from the expedition then maybe but then you have to mess with the steering column and everything else, easier to just use stock dash frame
If you’re going from one expedition to another it might be even closer of a fit, but any other model of expedition to f150 should fit very closely since they have the similar chassis’s
So does the dash bolt right on with no modification at all? I just picked up an 07 dash for my 03 super cab. I heard all the hvac system from the newer dash sits right where the old one is too
I had heard the same thing, but no no hvac lines up and neither does the dash, you need to trim a few small areas around the steering wheel and glove box to get it sit right. And for the hvac I used drier ducting to guide it to the new vents. If you try and use the newer dash frame and get it to bolt up then the dash will directly bolt to it
@@chrisrose9960 so I just found the power wire from the new seats and found the power wire from the trucks connection and spliced them together, but send me pictures of the dash put in I wanna see how it looks in yours
If it’s the 04 heritage then yes but the newer style f150 no, the newer f150 is several inches wider, but the newer f150 dash from 2009 up should fit in there, the cabs are the same
@@atomikvision3095 yes 09-04 f150 does fit on the 04-08 f150 but you have to build brackets for the headlights to mount as well as the hood release, and if I’m not mistaken you need to swap the hood brackets as well
@@atomikvision3095 I’m not 100% sure, but the cabs are the same besides a slight back door difference in the 09+, as far as I’m aware that dash should fit, I don’t know if it’ll bolt to the same dash frame though

There’s 7mm behind the glove box, gauge surround, on both side where the doors meet, around the radio area and in the corners where the oh shit handles meet the dash.

I used the seats from a 04-09 f150, you’ll need to drill new holes for them and use bolts with a nut on opposite side. The 02 is the same body style as mine so if you position them right they’ll fit
The gauge cluster from the newer one won’t work unless you have a pats security bypass and then wire up each signal wire to the stock wires, and I haven’t picked up a new steering wheel from a newer truck yet so not sure how difficult it would be
@@johnwright3710 I wish I would’ve tried to expeditions just to see how hard it would’ve been to use it and so there isn’t any self tapers involved to hold everything in and custom brackets, but the dash does cover the 97-03 steel frame

The only portion of the dash used from expedition is the main dash piece, the dash frame is still f150 and so is the venting, hvac, heater core and everything behind dash. I ran some plastic tubing from the old vent exits to the expedition to have the ac and heat coke through the vents and not behind the dash. Only one vent lines up if I’m not mistaken.
