  • Today I am fitting a now ignition coil. If this does not resolve the P0305 Fault Code issue, I will need your help!

    You can also look at changing the mds sensors they are under the intake bolted into the block they are like 30 bucks each

    Just look for a mile motor. Used from a wreaking yard here in the USA. There is a place called Lkq auto dismantling

    Hey Dave . read the ECU codes, check wire diagram and trace from the coil pack to the relay and relay to the ECU your checking for power delivery and resistance It sounds like a module problem
    since you were getting a fault only on #5 and now is it still the same cylinder or is it multiple cylinders good luck.

    That's my next thing to do along with the valve seals and head gaskets I would change all sensors before I start to over haul the motor. These motors are some of the best built motors I have ever seen they take a beating

      they were the best in the older years until fiat come messing them up.

    Go to live data and check the fuel trims see if running around 0% if they’re + adding fuel you might have a big vacuum leak , spray around the intake with something see if it revs up

    Best investment might be a Crate motor. At least short block.

    check your valve springs. a friend had the same problem with his ram. had a broken valve spring

    I use only full synthetic oil and its supposed to be 5w-20 I always get 5w-30 unless they only have the 20

    Did you change valve seals?you could have some oil leaking through the valve seals I have to do mine had to buy a special tool to remove the springs though.

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I changed the valve seals. I also replaced 8 valves and re-lapped ALL the valves when I rebuilt it.

    I’m hoping it’ll be something easy to fix!!! And not that I know but are you working the device ( scanner) properly???? If it could only be that easy!!!

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  ปีที่แล้ว

      The scanner only reports, it can't repair anything.

  • @hello-qd8rf
    @hello-qd8rf ปีที่แล้ว +1

    maybe a knock sensor

  • @brianhaw9398
    @brianhaw9398 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems coincidental that right after you got your scan tool your crank sensor died now this !!?? Does the 2010 Ram have cylinder deactivation? I think I would try a crank sensor from oem before I went much further. But I'm a plumber so what do I know?

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Brian. I’m trying one more crank sensor, but a quality one this time. Stay tuned.

    @solargarage ปีที่แล้ว

    I hate seeing that p0300, I know the pain. The first thing and low cost in my opinion is that we need to find in your scan tool the misfire counter report. Usually under the live data or in a separate section such as ODB misfire counter. That counter like in my scan tool will show you the cylinder(s) that are contributing to the p0300. Once we know that we can look into next steps, such as a compression test on the reporting cylinders. Blue smoke, if I recall correctly usually means oil. With the compression test a borescope of the cylinders will help show if there is something getting in such as oil. I'm keeping that crank sensor in the back of my mind as it is odd it started when it was replaced. I would be willing to send you am OEM one or funding for one. Also does your tool have special functions? If yes do you have a crank sensor relearn? If worst case it is something like a failing lifter, it could be redone, as I am doing, but could also be easier to get a short block crate motor, or one from a low milage 1500, but to early to make that call without some more testing.

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be right about the crank sensor. It's just way too coincidental right?

      @@ScottRods Agreed, as just because a part is new does not mean that it is good.

    Cost me 500 bucks but I could have went to a junkyard got one there for about 90 and paid them to program it for 75

    Not an expert but have some electronic experience. 85% of the time the problem was caused by the component before, that controls the failed part. The cam position sensor was it a quality replacement part ? Some replacement parts are not the greatest . Find it strange codes are different with every test keep adding more failed components. Gd luck Dave
