Why did she never want to actually hit anyone with it? Was it too early in the game for essentially a player kill, so she decided to swing into the player with suspiciously open blue/black mana?

The ending was sooo hype!! I didn't expect that infect spell at all. The full power of infect was shown in dat play!!
Was a really bad ending. Kingmaking is not fun at all. If you have 0 chance of winning, don't give someone the game, wait and see what happens. Maybe you will get a small window of opportunity.

@@SuperPokemonTrainerQ that's kingmaking. Taking away a win from someone gives you nothing positive. Also, she didn't know what would have happened if she stayed back. Maybe they would have atracked each other and she could sneak in a win. But attacking like she did made it 100% sure Josh would win. That is not a good play.

I don't think Gyre Sage works with Zaxara tokens due to the wording. The tokens enter as 0/0 and then get counters so that didn't exactly work as it should have.

"The Hydra token enters the battlefield as a 0/0 creature. Any abilities that modify or trigger on this event apply. After the token is on the battlefield [[but before any player can take actions]], +1/+1 counters are put onto the token."
This means that the gyre sage trigger goes on the stack but will not resolve before the hydra gets its counters. Evolve always triggers with an if clause, meaning any modifiers to power and toughness can be put onto the stack and resolve before it does.
The interaction would not be legal if Evolve said "whenever a creature with higher power or toughness enters the battlefield". Then the hydras wouldn't even trigger Evolve.
My vote is that this interaction is kosher.

Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, check its power and toughness against the power and toughness of the creature with evolve. If neither stat of the new creature is greater, evolve won’t trigger at all. (2013-04-15)

Lady should’ve made a deal and told Josh not to attack her next turn for killing Jordan for the both of them.
Yeah, I thought that would be the decent thing too. Realistically though, it likely wouldn't have made a difference; Capsize with Buyback (multiple times) and an Ice-Fang Coatl on board means that Ladee won't be getting through in Combat any time soon. I imagine it was Ladee' choice not to make that deal - and drag out the inevitable.
Nah: it's commander, somebody's gotta win. Josh already gave her a mana, it was either this or they both died to Jordan.

“Josh, Jordan will kill us both if we don’t do anything. If I kill Jordan for us, you can’t kill me on the crack back next turn. If you don’t make this deal, I will let Jordan win since I would lose either way.” Josh is forced to make that deal otherwise Ladee could just let Jordan win.
@@brandoncasiano1856 She certainly could have done, and I believe Ladee would have made that deal had she had a way of capitalising on that extra turn available to her. However, Josh had multiple bounce effects with Capsize (+buyback), and a Deathtouch creature to block her Abomination/biggest threat. All that that would have accomplished with that deal is to drag out the game a turn longer than it needed to be.
@@NewFemtex ehh she could’ve asked for more. She had all the leverage at that point. So some other clause could’ve been reached to better her odds after killing Jordan

One of the very best things about Josh's Jorn deck is that most of the cards in it aren't at the top of Jorn's EDHREC page. Josh consistently proves that Commmander will always be a brewer's format.

There are many reasons to watch game knights and extra turns, Lady Danger is the best of the all.

One of the best games, deck designs and endings I have ever seen. Seeing fog blew me away and I ❤️ seeing it. And then clutch kill with infect 🤯. Ah... so so good!!!
"It's commander damage, not that matters" sounding shifty there Josh, are you trying to sneak that damage in on the sly?
I could totally see an x spell at instant speed being cast to increase his commanders power by x working with the mana doubleing with an attack trigger. Commander damage is not by anymeans a strong win con but that one player that may be a problem... Its worth including as a side strategy when your main strategy isnt looking fast enough for the arch enemy.

Gyre Sage shouldn’t have gotten the counter when the hydras come in. The hydra comes in as a 0/0 and has counters put onto it.
MTG rules say that when a creature enters the battlefield and you add +1/+1 counters, you take those into account when comparing to Gyre Sage.
@@Dragon_Fyre Unfortunately that’s not the case here. Cards that work like that (for example Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig) have a different line of text. Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig enters the battlefield with four +1/+1 counters on it (which means Yorvo enters the battlefield with 4 counters) vs create a 0/0 green Hydra creature token, then put X +1/+1 counters on it (which makes the 0/0 first then adds the +1/+1 counters before state based effects allow it to die).
Exactly this. Its why Garruk's Uprising and Elemental Bond also don't trigger off Zaxara's tokens which was hugely upsetting for me to find out as a Zaxara player.

Amazing match. Brilliant. What a game! Only thing i can say though is that Black Sun's Zenith is shuffled back into its owner library when it resolves. Jordan probably forgot about it. Josh remembered it well when he shuffled his blue Sun's zenith back.
Posting a comment to remind everybody that there is no white at this table, but every commander being played was released within the past two years.
