When Jake played that Coat of Arms, Josh's creatures became Yu-gi-oh creatures.
Josh: everytime I come across an infinite combo in Orvar, I take it out.
Also josh: *leaves peregrine drake in the deck*
This xD Easiest combo
This was also my comment seems we both thought of this went. "huh?!"
And Whim of Volrath. If you don't want it to combo, gotta cut the buyback.
For real
Heh, trueeee another vid where the special guest gets shut down and does basically nothing all game (looking back at the Holiday Bling ep with Arin from Game Grumps). Disappointed but was still a flashy game to watch.
Josh- "I built orvar trying to not go infinite"
Also josh "whim of volrath, sapphire medallion, peregrine drake....."
honestly, a nexus of fate would have been the cherry on top
He could have infinited with Mind Games off of Spellseeker, but chose to not infinite for one or two more turns
Mono U Combo Deck & no one at the table cares ... 🤮
@@jebadiahbowman3232 Proof that the only thing commander players like more than playing the game, is moaning and complaining about how others play the game
@@spudster8887 You can call it complaining, of course, however Game Knights, like Extra Turns, is an entertainment format for viewers. So, in my opinion, it is quite justified to discuss the content shown.
It's just not entertaining anymore when Josh always declares another deck to be completely overpowered and then wins with a combo (in a deck from which all combos have supposedly been removed).
There is often no one right play in EDH, but Deathsproud was highly questionable without prior conversation.

I'm now imagining the timeline where Arachnogenesis resolves and suddenly there's a board of over 8.3 Million Spiders. I am both laughing and utterly terrified.
I WISH! It was my only hope
@@LadeeDanger it was still the best part of the video, even if it was countered. Great game!
With coat of arms
unfortunately, josh had too many counters.(also he probably would just make a billion untapped peregrine drakes)
Wouldn't there only have been 1666 spiders? Still terrifying but not AS. lol
Me: So Josh ... how is your no-combo Orvar deck going ?
Josh: Not very good...

This was only going to go one of two ways; Everyone attacks the Orvar player until dead, or Orvar player wins.
You are not allowed to attack Josh. If you want to be inivited back on the show, Josh must be allowed to win against inferior decks.
Yep, Orvar is firmly in the list of commanders I will kill/attack the owner on sight. Nothing good ever comes from leaving Orvar alone.
Synthi could definitely contend. She just got mana screwed. I dont feel too bad for her tho with 34 lands. 36 should be minimum imo
@@VetisEQ Nah, with the draw power of that commander you could get away with 34 easily.
@@laynegrey2003 Why though? This deck is made to draw an insane amount of cards. So, hit your lands, draw your deck, play your deck with all the mana. Like, GG

They saw him tutor for cyclonic rift though.
I once played my whole deck in another player's upkeep...
Josh’s artwork for the tokens he created with Orvar was the best thing in this episode!
As soon as Josh started making copies of his lands every single red alarm started going off. If only the taurean mauler had been allowed to kill josh :(
Maybe I misunderstood, but when Jake cast the spell to give Flying to his bull, Ladee blew it up - but surely Jake could have used said bull to smash Beky before her Squirrel combo went off? I guess you can't predict the future and all, not sure it would have mattered anyhow.
Yup she should of waited who he was going to attack, very much doubt it would been her.
@@Herobizkit597 Solitary Confinement was still in play at the time, so yes Jake could have swung the bull at Beky, but it would have done zero damage
The red alarm sirens go off the second anyone is playing Orvar, that Commander is broken, no one should look at anyone until the Orvar player is gone. They can outvalue any deck with the buyback spells.
If she didn't kill it before equip it would mean he can draw X cards per X power
I dont care what else is on the board, im going straight for orvar everytime
someone could have a gun pointed at my head trying to steal my wallet but my first priority is still going to be bolting orvar
Seeing the Mel Li token, when are we getting another Game Knights with her? She was always awesome!
I agree
Yes! I miss Mel
They've kind of blown up since then and for some reason I don't think she moves the needle quite like Post Malone, the kid from karate kid the series or Sofia Vergaras husband.

KEEPS PEREGRINE DRAKE IN THE DECK!
If he doesn’t have a way to repeatable blink paragon drake it doesn’t make infinite mana but for some reason he has winds of volrath which goes infinite with ovar in the cedh version
@@jasons9895 Any and all good orvar decks will run almost all of the efficient buy back spells that will fit. Josh's version especially needs them since its instant light for an orvar deck. You also need a win condition, and it turns out making infinite drakes is one such way to do that.
@@jasons9895 Saw the edit and agreed
Josh just want to win. Lying is just a kind of politics to him. F**k rule 0. It’s just a way for him to play against inferior decks. Again... just to win.
To be fair this was recorded BEFORE that CZ episode so he was referring to incidents like this
Last time I was this early to the show Vedalken Orrery was a budget card! 🤣
haha i was just thinking to myself "oh wow they just uploaded this minutes ago"
Last time I was early to something, orrery didn’t exist
Dang was thinking of selling mine. I have 2 m/nm never used conspiracy ones that was 40bucks last time I checked.
When the Markov deck plays 1 vampire 😂
Yea what the heck was that all about?
Not gonna lie, I love hearing Sun Titan yell “SUN TITAAAAN!”
Josh's face at the end where he is just thinking about his life as he kills the table is priceless.
So, let's see. Ladee kills the minotaur that lets Josh stay in the game despite what clearly looks like BS infinite copy combo. And the Jake proceeds to place a card that literally makes Josh's creatures instant kill (I know its superfluous due to the number of drakes but still). Meanwhile, anytime Jimmy does anything slightly threatening he gets instantly targeted and killed.
I started noticing this a few episodes ago, but this episode just took it to the extreme.
Agreed, I don't understand why Josh isn't targeted more.
Josh really good at keeping his kill aura content aka pokerface unlike jimmy. His excited look ruined it for him
They need their jobs. Would you target your Boss, or just let him win?
@@jamesmoore1317 legit the only one that targets him is Ashlen. She makes a comment every time that he stays alive way too long and is so political and wins because of it lol. honestly if he's not target then they all deserve to lose
@@det06f006 i find Jimmy goes all out too early when he goes off. its either that or he does nothing, no in between
Sure, Josh could've sac'd Commander Sphere tokens to draw his deck and played Thassa's Oracle but swinging out with 5000 5000/5000 Drakes seems a lot more rad.
For those who wondered how much damage Josh did in total, turns out the total is 25,004,994 points of damage.
Damage calculations after going infinite and choosing a finite number is less interesting. He could’ve easily made 25,004,944 drakes and done a good six hundred trillion damage instead, or made a google plex drakes and done an inconceivable amount of damage. Finding out how much you can do without going infinite is the interesting part, like Gavin’s video about the most amount of damage that can be done with only 3 cards and no infinite combos.
Is this the most damage done in any game knights episode?
@@Danothyus1 no, there has been an instance of infinite damage already in one of the first game knights episodes. As far as i know this is the highest instance of non-infinite (although it very much could have been infinite) damage though.
@@williamsalaets6884 I don't think it's at all possible to deal infinite damage, Infinity Elemental notwithstanding.
@@therealax6 Yes, if you dig deep into the mtg rulebook, it's technically impossible to do infinite damage. But given players use an "arbitrary large number", you might as well just call it infinite given it has the exact same purpose, sounds more impressive (both to win with and lose against) and tends to roll better off the tongue. But tbh this is just rule 0 talk. If you don't like the concept of infinite, talk with your game table and see if they are fine with infinite (arbitrary large amount) damage or not.
That “let the bodies hit the floor” was a shot to my heart
and it's too late
Ladee should have made a deal with jake to have him attack Josh with that swole mauler.
The moment she killed the red bull, she king made Josh.
Yeah this was bad threat assessment on her part, imo. That bull was definitely not going at her.
For people who play so much commander I have never seen so much bad threat assessment. Orvar is always a top tier problem and its really boring watching a game where nobody cares about it.
I guess if my boss is telling me the deck with 3 lands out is the problem while I have orvar out I might have to buy that bs.
Spot on!! Seems like they fear getting fired and just let Josh win. But why air idiotic episodes like this?
It’s literally the same thing every episode. The tryhard powertrip is legit unbearable.
This is sadly how EVERY game with Orvar goes. Friend made this deck and was getting very annoyed that I wouldn't let him keep Orvar in play, I was slowly being whittled down by everyone else but I knew what would happen if i stopped. Finally i gave up and said the rest of the table could deal with him and started working on developing my own board state, but they refused to do anything about him. A turn later there were 10000000000 Archaeomancer's swinging out at all of us, three very confused looking faces and then me with a "WTF did you expect?" expression.
not to be toxic but i hate playing with players like that.
@@devashannaidoo6877 with players that know the danger of some commanders that are just in a different league compared to other decks... or are you reffering to players that do not know about how easy it is to make infinites in MTG?
truth is, regardless of which of the one you hate playing with, theres just some decks that need to be played on their respective table power and not to just pubstomp tables that run 4s, 5s or 6s
@@Furry19931993 the second type where they just let players get out of hand while they try to set up their own board.

Ladee's face @35:23 is all of us whenever someone just goes off.
Josh literally always convinces then to target someone else then just combos off with infinite value once the answers are gone.
Meanwhile Jimmy decides to go off and force everyone to use the (player) removal on him first every game knights haha.
its smart of josh to do that. two of those people should know by now how josh plays his decks and how he politics. tbh its pretty impressive. and besides, i dont think they care too much anyways since im sure they all get their chances to shine when the camera is turned off
The fact that these people who work with him and play with him regularly continue to believe him is starting to push me outa this channel tbh 😒
Totally true sadly this happens every game that Josh is in and it ALWAYS works, how can they keep playing with him and still fall for that?
@@captaindaddd6055 They should care since for the audience the game that's being recorded is the one that matters
Ladee Danger really is a legendary creature.

35:22 this is the expression that everyone has playing against a blue EDH deck lol.

Everyone: Yay, I play this! Wohoo, I did damage!
Meanwhile Josh: "Everything is power and I am everything. I, Nicol Bolas, will be your end!"
Is it because he’s their boss or why else would Lady AND Jake waste their removal on beky, while Josh has his commander out + a draw engine and the most lands in the game? This doesn’t make any sense
hey, ex-Game Knights staffer here. Josh is infamous for being a sore loser, so people tend to let him just do whatever he wants. Funny story actually, the reason I don't work there anymore is because I made the mistake of trying to convince people at the table to target him during a casual game. Jimmy is generally a cool dude and he's the one who consoles Josh whenever he loses, which is why he's the only one who you see target Josh in these videos.
After I convinced another player that Josh's value engine that was just sitting on the table was probably a more important target for removal than my mana dork, he took me aside after the game and gave me a long, teary-eyed speech about "bullying" and "harassment in the workplace", I think he had recently been crying because his face and armpits were obviously damp. I thought he was joking at first so I tried to play it off but he must've taken that as a challenge because he immediately took his shirt off and started trying to fight me. I eventually apologized but a few days later I got a text saying that they wouldn't need me around anymore. Dude still owes me my last paycheck too.

I am always amazed at the chemistry of the command zone cast and with all their guests as well. Always a pleasure to watch the videos !!
Josh surely learned from Cassius.
This is pretty much the same of how he won with Palinchron, Urza and Thassa Oracle
and this is why you kill Orvar, immediately. If the Orvar player gets to play the game, nobody else does.
Josh: I'm going to make some island tokens
Me: wait...... that's a thing? Interesting....
Orvar is Mono-Blue Ramp. Insane, I know, but it is a thing. In my version of the deck, I would copy Mystic Sanctuary to get back the spells to do it again and again. I've copied Spark Double so many times with Orvar, copying Orvar, thus hitting multiple Orvar triggers on one spell. It is fun creating 20 lands out of thin air, especially in a Blue deck.
You can make a token copy of any permanent, yes.
There are some cards that make some really weird tokens - I distinctly remember some Jace making a token copy of itself, which was definitely the first token planeswalker I had seen.

Ladee wearing the most on point shirt in the history of ever! She is absolutely a LEGENDARY CREATURE!!!!!
Josh letting Blasphemous Act resolve was probably a merciful content play. Otherwise Venser would just turn all of his tricks into counterspells all while drawing 4 cards with every loop. Insane combo.
Very questionable deathsprout while everyone knew about the cyclonic rift ....
That was my first thought too...
Maybe shw went for the target that is most likely to let her spell resolve because she wanted the ramp? Still the threat assessment seemed terrible by the entire group this game. Focusing on the mana screwed Enchantress player while Josh is going off with Orvar was super sus.
#JustLetJoshWin #WantToKeepMyJob
Don't think Ladee knows how to play EDH very well. Been noticing her decision making during several episodes now. I really like her positive energy though. She is someone who is really fun and great to be around, but not your best teammate when you want to win a game of magic.
@@cjlee996 nah, this is a NTR channel about not letting Jimmy be happy and letting Josh win every time. It's on the contract.

That got me too!
I get that it's maybe not fun to target Josh every time, but as soon as Orvar hit the table he should have been hated off it.
Josh sat and pointed at a deck that hadn't drawn land for several turns as the threat, while playing the scariest deck at the table and misrepresenting the combo potential of his deck and it's getting tired.
The show has also been going on long enough to know not to trust Josh, so it's also really pushing suspension of disbelief
Sythis is absurd, and I love it.
Their introduction puns were all great, but "time to catch these Harvest Hands" has to take the cake for me
Ladee : Drowning Pool - Let the body set the flow !!!!! Legendary :)
The game was over, at the point orvar stayed longer than one turn on the battlefield. Its one of those commanders you need to take out on sight.
He will be one of the first targets even if you take combos out cause the value is just insane. Just a reminder that commander does allow you to ramp for one mana! On top of that spell played being mostly a cantrip and that being the "baseline".
Btw im not blaming any of the player, neither josh for building that deck neither the others for preparing, cause everyone seemed to have fun :)
I've seen what the Orvar deck can do on IHYD and it's not at all surprising how this game went. I will say it was fun to see Sythis pop off. Gave me some ideas for changes to my deck.
These all seem like personal decks and faves of the players and it is always nice to see decks that depart from the most recently released commanders. Nice one!
After seeing these tokens: I do hope we get to see Mel on this channel again sometime.
Josh revealed the buyback spell yet Lady Danger did not see the infinite combo and killed a vanilla creature. That's a lack of table talk. One player can miss it but no one calling it out is just bad.
Josh can win in his turn when he had in hand with Whim of Volrath targeting Drakes and the Boots infinite times :D
He could have done it much earlier with his first spellseeker trigger

Jake with some great synergy at the end. Very nice how all the vampires got +2/+2, really mattered
Spoiler alert: Orvar is soooooo OP!!! I can't understand why people doesn't kill him on sight. Even with the board state during the show, I would have kill it each time. It does everything we want in Magic: Draw, ramp, combo off with ease, ... Even when you dont' want to combo, they appear from nowhere.
because killing a commander on sight is often bad threat assessment and you're often just handing the game to the player who is the immediate threat. I also love how commander players always just assume there is enough removal in everyones hands to deal with every threat that drops. If you waste all of your removal on orvar, how are you dealing with other threats. Beyond this, good orvar decks make it extremely, extremely difficult to actually kill him.

@@kenpokid10 because killing something on sight because of what it might do is almost always bad threat assessment?
@@spudster8887 "almost" being the operative word. I just don't understant Lady destroying the red changeling. The moment the saw Josh tutoring for Cyclonic Rift they should had tried to kill him or force him to use it. Also, if Josh had the combo drake ready, why wasting a turn to attack with them instead of just Blue Sun Zenith to finish sooner and take everyone else out of their misery.

Wow, that's a unique Meren deck. Love it!
