During the necromatic selection, sefris does not trigger if she dies as part of the boardwipe. She would need to remain on the field to see the cards go to the graveyard. her trigger is worded differently than 'dies' that would normally work.
If Sefris dies at the same time another creature she'll see that creature die and her venture ability will be put on the stack. As a cross-reference, Meren of Clan Nel Toth behaves in the same fashion and has a clarifying ruling.
@@leonardogobelfernandes2769 Thanks for the explanation link. I wish there was a ruling under Sefris explaining that. Definitely going to see this come up again and I don't think I have an elegant way of explaining this to a playgroup that doesn't involve a 4 minute video 😥
[L1] Much like in the Game Knights episode there was a misplay with Sefris. If Sefris dies as part of a board wipe (Necromantic Selection) she won't trigger from the other cards going to the graveyard because she's not on the field to see the cards go into the graveyard. Her "from anywhere" trigger doesn't work the same as a "dies" trigger.

I was really biting my lip, tongue and the half of my face off, when I saw Ladee place something or tap something. So the MVP for me is DJ, for rescuing me. Thanks DJ. And thanks to all players out there, who keep their playmats organized and tap 90°. There are people like me, who appreciate you, doing it that way, more than you think. Again... I love Ladee and Craig. You both are two of my favorite players. But that's sometimes really hard to watch.
I really don't understand why I keep seeing people playing Sefris and going down dungeon of the mad mage. It takes forever and the abilities are not synergistic with the deck at all. You should always go down Tomb of Annihilation. It's a sac outlet right there that people cannot interact with! And then you get to bring these huge creatures back out for free so fast, punish opponents and have a big death touch creature that either deals dmg, kills something or is another creature you can sac. Always always always Tomb of Annihilation
Nothing to add here. Dungeons in general only seem good if you find ways to abuse them, if not the one giving you the big payoff the fastest seems the best. Of course this takes away the fun of watching people be happy to have completed the bloody thing a turn or two before the game ends
@@scorpiotantrum4592 no one is policing anyone here, and frankly, I don't think anyone is under the illusion that MTG is a "children's game". @@mordamen no one's policing with the phrase, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS RUN TOMB OF ANNIHILATION? Yea sounds like policing to me. The only reason people run the tomb of annihilation is because it's short. 21:26 the Radiant Solar isn't goaded since it lost all its abilities when Craig cast Kenrith's transformation on it causing it to loose all its abilities including the goading
Goaded isn't an ability. Its a designation a card can have. Kenrith's Transformation does not remove designations. 701.38b Goaded is a designation a permanent can have. A goaded creature attacks each combat if able and attacks a player other than the controller of the permanent, spell, or ability that caused it to be goaded if able. Goaded is neither an ability nor part of the permanent’s copiable values.
Goaded isn't an ability, it's a state the card is in, just like tapped is a state a card can be in. If a card says: a creature * gains * .... It's an ability If a card says: a creature * is/becomes * It's a state.
@19:30 when the spirit attacked and did 1 damage due to being goaded, doesn't it die? Vengeful Ancestor says it deals damage (meaning the goaded creature) and the spirit says when this creature deals damage, sacrifice it.

The Dungeon of the Mad Mage can be fun to do if you need the card advantage, but the reanimate effect is just so strong.
dun know. i built a deck that ran through 1 dungeon non stop using Acerack or how ever his name is spelled. Plus i've used all the dungeons in games and picked from what i needed first depending on the game. Then again i don't try to min max shit like this. i just want to have fun vs go through Dungeon A because then B and C will be most beneficial for Cards Z and X and then turn to balgjajioajegoiahfbklahklgjalfalksdfjk to win. Fuck that noise. Ima sling spells
@@joshshin6819 I love acererak he’s such a useful creature
Usually Lost Mines of Phandelver or Tomb of Annihilation are better picks, but since DJ got his GY exiled via Bojuka Bog it’s better for him to commit to Dungeon of the Mad Mage since it would take a while to utilize his commander’s dungeon completion triggered ability anyways.
@@karanok true, but his GY was exiled after he committed to the mad mage dungeon
Storm-kiln artist is my favorite storm enabler from my feather deck since it allows my spells to go infinite.
How does it allow your spells to go infinite?
@@Zendrig it's very busted with mirrorwing drake and or Zada Hedron grinder, and since my spells top out around 5 with most split between 1 and 2 mana using storm kiln can net mana with ether.
I love the precons and I love seeing your guide to make them even more awesome! Thanks so much!
Around 19:00, wouldn’t the goad from the vengeful ancestor make the dragon town deal damage, the 1 to Ladee, and so be sacrificed before hitting dj?
it would
They need to be sacrifice when they do combat damage so no
19:15 Ladee should have sacrificed her Dragon Spirit token upon resolution of Vengeful Ancestor's ability as the creature token had dealt damage.
and forgot to make one after the commander took damage
Not sure if It was intentional, but seeing the hand that dropped Jake's deck was a really good touch, especially after seeing the special effect. 10/10

Honestly the only thing I’ve learned from these videos is both prosper and the gruul dragon are good decks and the Esper and Bant ones are so much weaker

Having built my own Sefris deck, I was excited to see it play, but either the others hate DJ or they are scared of dungeons because he got hosed every time he played anything for no clear reason. It's incredible that he pulled out a victory.
Also, Sefris triggers herself when it dies he should have ventured when he blocked with it.

Ladee: One turn
Both: Deal!!!
... ...
36:34 Ladee: "I'm gonna go ahead and swing the Chaos Dragon at you Craig...." for 8 damage.... Oopsie :-)

Jake: I'm going to 42 life.
Me: Hum, seems like Jake has great chances to win.
DJ's turn
Jake: I'm going to 10
This was one of the best episodes. Swingy to the last turn!
@31:25 lady and craig make a deal so that lady doesnt attack him on her. turn but then on her turn she attacks him with her dragon?
During the necromatic selection, sefris does not trigger if she dies as part of the boardwipe. She would need to remain on the field to see the cards go to the graveyard. her trigger is worded differently than 'dies' that would normally work.
If Sefris dies at the same time another creature she'll see that creature die and her venture ability will be put on the stack. As a cross-reference, Meren of Clan Nel Toth behaves in the same fashion and has a clarifying ruling.
Wrong. Simultaneously entering the graveyard means that she sees everything else go there.
@@KeiruKeiru Sefris doesn't have a "die" keyword, so her trigger doesn't look back in time. Explanation: th-cam.com/video/BSeh_fJnPF8/w-d-xo.html
@@leonardogobelfernandes2769 Thanks for the explanation link. I wish there was a ruling under Sefris explaining that. Definitely going to see this come up again and I don't think I have an elegant way of explaining this to a playgroup that doesn't involve a 4 minute video 😥
The swap out for better cards really make these precon episodes MUCH BETTER
Thank you
The way Lady said Vrondiss Rage of Ancients was perfect lmao!
That is new for me! Living and learning
44:10 Ladee could totally be in a death metal band. Listen to that growl! \m/ \m/
The best extra turns yet!
Ladee is just a solid human. Keeps the energy high!
Craigs infect always brings this cool hidden fear to the table!
And I have never seen DJ play since I’ve been watching. Great video! Good laughs and makes me wanna play magic with some good friends!
Ladee 44:11 with the epic scream, flip hair back, regret, death. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You guys! “I’m Primeval Titan, I hide all my money in trees!” HAHAHAHA 😂😂😂😂
The last shot of Craig looking at the top and showing a forest hurt all the kids at home
I'm just gonna say something: He could've, after combat, and after the tectonic giant trigger, if he had saved his mana, cast his obelisk from exile, then cracked it to destroy in-prisoned in the moon to free his commander
"I could have extorted everybody like a nice person" xDDDD
Ladee's laughing is such a good time. always makes me laugh too
Lady did a small reference to Chicago and I love it
Good game. I enjoyed how close it was. Didn't feel like one person ran the board. Thanks for the content
I started a league in my commander group where we upgrade the precons week after week, it's done wonders for our playgroup. Good content all!!
How Ladee had FUN this Episode :D That alone made the Episode better than usual. I enjoyed her laughter, it sounds good :D
I just love how animated and sweet Ladee Danger reacts every play! :)
I love Extra Turns, and all the people who play there. I really enjoyed this game....
BUT... Again, I love the players. Ladee is a wonderful person, Craig is always fun, DJ is awesome and knows his stuff, and Jake is a cool dude who loves jank and fun combos... BUT.... The board arrangements from Ladee and Craig trigger me so God damn hard. (not for the first time). It's my problem, I know. But, I love an organized playmat (thanks Jimmy and Josh) .
Jake: Sorry DJ I had to do it
*DJ will remember that*
13:46 the token also should have taken damage off of the raptor since it doesn't say nontoken it doesn't matter but I'm just saying
DJ, Craig, and Ladee? Christmas came early
15:33 WTF? Dude says "No Sol Ring" so two players pretty much destroy his Mana Base?
Prosper went from Tome-bound to Moon-bound lmao xD
Seeing Ladee have this much fun brings me so much joy lol
"you're the best target and I needed a land drop"
That doesn't make it hurt any less... lol
Every time Jake plays a card "SPICY!"
THE SQUEAK WHEN THE SWORD DROPPED INTO CRAIGS HAND HAS ME DYING 🤣
Definitely did not expect that ending!!
That was incredibly fun! Thank you for the content!
My thought exactly lol. People just wanna draw cards and cast shit for free
Nothing to add here. Dungeons in general only seem good if you find ways to abuse them, if not the one giving you the big payoff the fastest seems the best. Of course this takes away the fun of watching people be happy to have completed the bloody thing a turn or two before the game ends
It makes sense if you have Acererak/Roof Storm combo in the deck. If you don't, yeah completely agree
@@scorpiotantrum4592 no one is policing anyone here, and frankly, I don't think anyone is under the illusion that MTG is a "children's game".
The others were simply discussing (in quite respectful way) strategy and deck building choices from an optimization and min/maxing point of view. At no point did they say that's the only way to do so, simply that it's the most efficient.
@@mordamen no one's policing with the phrase, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS RUN TOMB OF ANNIHILATION? Yea sounds like policing to me. The only reason people run the tomb of annihilation is because it's short. Short. And. Boring.
Sure you get an okay blocker if you finish it, but I would rather draw 3 cards and play one of them for free than potentially Obliette myself over and over and over again. And I know you can avoid that room but honestly, that's the most exciting room in that dungeon.
Y'all really gotta learn that the cast trigger of a spell resolves before said spell's ETB trigger, my dudes.
And the Necromantic Selection should have also fully resolved before you got your angel back and ventured into the dungeon.
You are all amazing! ... love the battles! Takes some gloom out for me in Melbourne, during these hard times ... :)
Prosper is one of my favorite commanders that I own. So much fun and value! Vrondiss might me my next build!!
I really need to pick up that Prosper, Tome-Bound precon.
Of the four, it really is just... Leagues ahead
@@thomaswhite3059 it really looks like fun to have that exiled wildcard every turn with the treasure generation from casting the exiled card. Looks outta my comfort zone mechanics-wise but that's more the reason to want to play it.
34.17 wait doesn’t extort only trigger once? So you can pay up to 1 to dray the table for 1 right?
The pontif gives all of his creatures extort, so he extorts for each creature.
Pontiff of Blight was giving each other creature he controlled extort as well.
That's right but Jake's Pontiff of Blight gives extort to all his creatures, so he paid 1 mana per creature
all his creatures had extort so he paid the extort for each creature (5 times)
thanks for the responses, I missed that
Am I not the only one that said “SUUUUN TITAAAAAN!” When it was first played this game? 😂
Same
GG. This was a good game. But I’m just gonna say they could have killed DJ so many times 😆
Why kill the DJ before the party is over :D
You gotta show pity for the dungeon deck lol
Good job DJ! Never doubted you
Fantastic video. More Extra Turns please!
Did Ladee break her deal with Craig 31:15 in her attack step at 37:00? He'd asked for immunity for 1 turn in exchange for the "Imprisoned in the Moon"?
Eyy DJ took it home! Those dice-rolling spells turned out to be pretty potent
7 mana is steep but instant speed reanimation is crazy good.
Well earned victory for Jake! Nice to see the dungeon deck win, but in all honesty, those Dungeon cards need a little more spice :D
Ladee cackling as all of Craig's creatures die was the highlight of this game.
Agreed, absolutely love it; could listen to it on loop
Glad to see DJ back in gameplay videos
Craig is hands down my favourite player of all time on Command Zone 🙌🏿
Still feel bad for Jake, he looked poised to win this game lol.
21:23 Im confused, isn't goaded an ability, and therefore is removed through Kenrith's transformation?
It's not an ability you get, more like a state you are in, like being tapped is a state.
Did NOT see that coming. Wow!
The squeak when the sword dropped was pretty freaken funny.
21:27 Doesn't the Aura on the Angel say it looses all abilities? So being goaded should be removed I think?
Goaded isn't an ability, it's a state the card is in, just like tapped is a state a card can be in.
If a card says: a creature * gains * .... It's an ability
If a card says: a creature * is/becomes *
It's a state.
16:11 great reference
@19:30 when the spirit attacked and did 1 damage due to being goaded, doesn't it die? Vengeful Ancestor says it deals damage (meaning the goaded creature) and the spirit says when this creature deals damage, sacrifice it.
