you can get the original MG as either the HD color version that includes the MS cage or the Full Armor version. both are about $100 but it's the old kit.

How would you mold the horns in both white and gold plated? Don't think I'd want any gold injected stuff on this. The eyes will light up so you dont need to use those if you don't want them, and having stickers for lenses even if they have correct colored clear parts is the norm. I'm not sure what your upset about.
To be fair, the PG includes the v-fin with gold plating on one side. They definitely could have done the same for this kit. But yeah I’m not too fussed about it personally

Just built up the RG FA Unicorn this week...man, what a kit. From what I've seen, the MG EX is just as stable as the RG. It's a hair bigger and more articulate. Saw a vid and apparently the MG FA Unicorn's weapons work with the EX. So if you've got a MG FA, you are in business
So MGEX is a beautiful looking kit and yes the box art is top notch but I feel a lot of builder out there are going to be pissed at this. I am referring to those builder who actually put in LED's lights that they must have spent so much time and effort to get it right. That satisfaction they must have felt to light their MG kits and showing off there proud work, only to see that for only a 100 bucks( i know its more) you can have a light up MG Unicorn kit of you own and you don't have to deal with the soldering. Maybe I feel numb now at seeing another Unicorn but I can see where bandai is going with this idea, the question is what will be the next MGEX kit that will top this? I hope you enjoy this kit.
$100 is surely a lot more than the cost of products to do it yourself, but if you also consider time spent doing it yourself, it kinda evens out. Depending on how much you value your time 😂 Either way, yeah it happens with lots of stuff. The new ZZ Ver.Ka kit comes out and someone modified the old FAZZ armor to fit on it, then Bandai announces a brand new FAZZ Ver.Ka - for example. Happens all the time. Josh and I have discussed this. If it happened to me, I wouldn’t really be pissed cause I’d still be proud of my work and mine would be unique!

Some important point I summarized -Prize is just ridiculous -Lots of hate towards the V-fin sticker -Lots of hate towards the old runner -LEDs at Shield Psychoframe wasnt really that good -The whole kit is REALLY sturdy, some reviewer even swing the kit around without any parts falling off -Most of the reviewers here like the new MGEX leg proportion better -Compatible with Old MG ver.ka FA Unicorn equipment -This kit has alot of under-gate, implying there will be Gold plated Phenex in the future -There are rumors saying Bandai might release an alternate version which is without LED, coloured frame(cheaper) version.

Saw a "review" from a japanese builder and I was kind of disappointed with the shield lightning when attached to the arm... Gonna try to equip a Banshee Ver. ka with LED's, to see how that works out.
HLJ had the kit before public release, not really fair lol. But honestly not something I usually care too much about. Chances are someone else’s review will come out before mine still yet anyway lol

And yes, suppliers getting a pre-release is def not fair but it does benefit Bandai and they do need to get those merch before actual release so theres that.
The more I look at this the more I kinda don't care about it at all, it's a new Unicorn with gimmicky LEDs that no one ever leaves on or turns on much, it looks cool in product photos and that's it.

It’s hard to say because it depends on how fast you build! A lot of it comes down to experience. A kit like this for me to build and just put all the included waterslide decals would take a few days, but for someone else it might take a few weeks.
The exia would be a good candidate for the next MGEX due to how everyone has been wanting a 2.0 for a while now and it has a PG to compare it too if that's how bandai is going with this line.
Ok lets jump start the rumor mill! MGEX Banshee will have the same everything plus an additional yellow color setting on the LED at a $15 price difference. Quickly followed by the Phoenix adding additional blue color setting on on the LED at an additional $75. Meanwhile Unicorn junkies are working the corners looking like Ashy Larry's extra stabby geeked out chihuahua. Nailed It! Also can't you get a MG Unicorn, Banshee and maybe a Phoenix for this price?
The Phenex will cost a lot more I think, plated versions usually nearly double the price, plus the two DE shields. but considering a big chuck of this price tag is the LEDs, I’d say more like +$100 or more over this kit price

I really don't care for light up features, if you always have them lit up you're going to seat through batteries or you only remember to turn it on once in a blue moon and you spent more money on a feature you really didn't need.
Don't want to know how long the whole review is and how long it will take to build. Also, I think that the og mg unicorn gundam is a better kit since it's $50 and not $200. The added articulation isn't that much, the knees look like they barely move a bit more than the og unicorn. This one just has more accessories and lights, but is it really worth spending $200?
cheaper? yes. better? definitely not. Any articulation the old MG had was pretty much made useless because it couldnt hold any of those poses with out having to put it back together several times. and even then it struggled to really handle the the accessories that came with it out of box. aesthetic preferences aside this kit does everything the old MG could do, better. and then some. Now if its worth the $200? that completely depends on what youre going to do with it. Zach sounds like hes going to do the full gambit and give it a paint job, which if youre going to invest that kind of time into a kit its more than likely worth to that builder.

the transformation gimmick seems really solid this time around and the articulation looks better. but from what i've seen its not really freedom 2.0 or barbatos level of articulation, its just the OG ver ka with knees that can actually bend now. for my money i would rather go with the PG. the dock seems gimmicky as hell although the 3 shield formation looks cool. heres hoping they just reprint this shit and make a no LED no dock version to make the price not ridiculous
I really want this kit simply because I love LED stuff with model kits, but I also think I'm gonna wait till I can get my hands on the PG Exia with LEDs since I love the Exia design more than the Unicorn.
It will be tough taking apart without damaging the lighting sheet. Totally recommend build without it first then review the light system after you painted it.
Wow big box fulla plastic looks as big as the full armour set for the PG or the meteor unit and as deep as the narrative a pack and those waterslides 😵 I can't wait for my supplier to get them in ( should have one put aside for me when they arrive as I asked nicely 🙏🙏🙏 ) I like the fact that the transparent parts come in both clear and milky for choice and yes it is an expensive kit but I don't care I NEED it - at least it comes with the lighting set ( unlike the PG which I got anyway along with the F A set - cost as much as the pg but that's the price of love 😍)
Honestly I think your best option for painting is to just get all the parts cut off and painted straight away before assembly because I don’t think disassembling is a good idea

not only is the old master grade a brick in that it cant pull off many poses its also very loose; legs, arms, hands, all have a healthy wobble 11:50 my heart sank 12:23 oh thank god
just a heads up. don't bother using the green stickers for the visor, cameras, and eyes, they're just going to block the clear parts when you have the LED turned on.
I wonder if the LEDs only have Red and Green or if it's full RGB. If It's full RGB then touching the LED Unit a little would let you get Orange and Blue to recreate the Banshee and the Phenex.
Loved the review when it came out and still do now. But I was lucky enough that a hobbytown in Texas had plenty of extras, like they had roughly twenty and bought the new ver. Ka wing zero as they had two so spent about 300 something dollars 😅😅😅
The only MG unicorn I have is the Phoenix and it was a pain to build and pose imo. Still like it but it turned me off to the other grade of unicorn kits besides HG. This ExMG interests me quite a bit though

Unfortunately I can't recommend this kit to anybody. - Bandai have priced this kit way too high and done a piss poor job on the LED system inside the kit. I'd happily pay half the price for the MGEX Unicorn WITHOUT the LED kit, - then I can spend about £20/$25 building a far far better LED system with programmable controller.
If you're going to paint this thing, don't build it with the LEDs, chances are you'll ruin them when disassembling it. Leave it for the final assembly.
Gotta give it a proper review though, so no choice! I’ll just have to be careful! If anything the experience will serve as helpful information I can share with y’all as well!

When the kit is built you should check to see if it is compatible with the extra parts from the full armor version if you have it.
They should add The Big O season 2 version to the MGEX line. That has extreme points for days.

After tax this thing is about $350 in Canada. If I had more money than sense, sure I'd buy one. But I don't, so no.

The figures from MS Cage were included on the MG Unicorn HD Color + MS Cage
Those LED's should technically be able to light up to almost any color.
I think I'll just wait for the Full armor version and/or Banshee
@ZakuAurelius be careful about disassembling the kit with the LED strip. It could be difficult to not damage the LED while separating the parts.

The existing full armor bits can be attached to this kit. I've seen a couple Asian reviewers do it.

just a heads up. don't bother using the green stickers for the visor, cameras, and eyes, they're just going to block the clear parts when you have the LED turned on.
It is a strange addition if those clear parts light up. I suppose they didn't want to make a new sticker sheet.

I wonder if the LEDs only have Red and Green or if it's full RGB.
If It's full RGB then touching the LED Unit a little would let you get Orange and Blue to recreate the Banshee and the Phenex.

Loved the review when it came out and still do now. But I was lucky enough that a hobbytown in Texas had plenty of extras, like they had roughly twenty and bought the new ver. Ka wing zero as they had two so spent about 300 something dollars 😅😅😅

The only MG unicorn I have is the Phoenix and it was a pain to build and pose imo. Still like it but it turned me off to the other grade of unicorn kits besides HG. This ExMG interests me quite a bit though

Unfortunately I can't recommend this kit to anybody. - Bandai have priced this kit way too high and done a piss poor job on the LED system inside the kit.
I'd happily pay half the price for the MGEX Unicorn WITHOUT the LED kit, - then I can spend about £20/$25 building a far far better LED system with programmable controller.

If you're going to paint this thing, don't build it with the LEDs, chances are you'll ruin them when disassembling it. Leave it for the final assembly.
Gotta give it a proper review though, so no choice! I’ll just have to be careful! If anything the experience will serve as helpful information I can share with y’all as well!
