@keebs, you already know what time it is! As long as he doesn't make us wait TOO long for whats next..I'm ready now. I've been anticipating 7empest from the very beginning of the shaman's journey.! Yeah let's get onto the next one!!!
Ya only 7empest and mocking beat left and i just wanna say i had a blast watching you go through this whole journey. I hope you do a long video about the band after wards. Your thoughts on albums and the band over all maybe what songs have grown on you the most in relistening. Look forward to future bands, but tool will be pretty hard top.
@merkaba987 i designed the synth he uses live, designed the sound it was making for this piece, and was at A&M when he recorded the track. Mentioned with humility and gratitude, i have a thank you mention on the album for the assistance that day. Just for the record - the name isn't a subtle nod to a flavor of acid as some have suggested. A&M used to stock the control room with home baked chocolate chip cookies. that's what the reference is.
there's an interview with the producer saying it was funny seeing Danny executing this one in the studio, he (Danny) would do everything himself, going from one end of the room to another. I can't remember precisely, but I think it was in this recording that one of Danny's drum caught on fire (Danny likes to bring candles when he's in the studio) Edit: Oh, and the reason it's called chocolate chip it's because they were eating a lot of when recording lol
Their "transition songs" are rarely just transitions. Fans of noise and industrial music recognize the Tool for their respect for the genres. Listen to this track then listen to a track like Reclamation by Skinny Puppy, and you can easily hear the influence. Helps that Danny Carey and cEvin Key are friends
after just few listening sessions of this track the underlying electronic "melody" gets mora and more pita. merkaba was already a bit underwhelming and dull but this piece was so unnecessary if you think about the "problems" with the album length and how to release it as regular CD.
the engineering in this track is absolutely mind boggling. With a good set of headphones it had a real 3d effect, like the drum kit is swirling all around you.
The craziest thing about CCT to me is that Danny actually plays it live. It’s such a magical part of their set
indeed, and someone told me that he made just like 3 takes.
7empest is coming

⛈ 🌪⛈
We know your nature!
Someone call me, text me, come wake me up, whatever, when he drops his 7empest reaction!
Chocolate Chip Trip
or
How to summon Machine Elves from the DMT realms
Maynard is a machine elf
Saw Danny play it live twice back before COVID. It's all Danny, Drums and electronics.
The studio they recorded in served them chocolate chip cookies so they named this after those cookies. Random info is fun

So ready for what's next...."A 7empest must be just that"
A Sevenempest must be just that!
True to his nature
This whole track is a drum solo of sorts as all of this is made by Danny himself on his kit.

That's awesome!@@PeterGrenader
Love how Danny ends the solo with the gong. Best way to end a drum solo.
The 7empest Awaits.
This was his first take while the guys were on a lunch break lol
So nice of them to include a clip of him messing around in the studio
This is named for the cookies Danny has in his studio
He did this in one take in studio. Set up the synth loops and did the solo over it. He does the same thing live but it's always a little different.
It is just a warm up for the next song.Danny needs to stretch his body before 7empest.
Live performances of this are better, I feel.
Ditto.
First saw this live in 2015 on halloween. What a treat
Danny is one of those drummers where he is so intricate in his song creation that his drum solos seem just like a slightly amped up version of a song.
Please be stoned when you listen to 7empest. The chocolate trip chip that intros into it basically tells you to be!

Here’s my weekly request to check out The Mars Volta’s “De-loused in the Comatorium”
seconded
thirded
fourded?
It is my 2nd favorite band.
@merkaba987 Frances is my favorite album of their’s, i recommended De-loused due to its accessibility.
I hope you do OK Computer by Radiohead next. Or Sea Change by Beck if you haven't heard. Great job brother
I second both of these of albums.
Street Spirit is Radiohead's best song

Check out Merkaba from Salival album
Puscifer and A Perfect Circle (Maynard's side projects) are worth checking out after you're done with Tool 😊
Welcome to The showcase of Danny Carey 😊
Sad we reached the end . When you finish Dea Inoculum tool released an instrumental without Maynard recently called The Witness
I’d argue that without MJK it isn’t Tool.
i really want to see Danny play this live :D
Danny Carey got annoyed that people were able to play some of his songs so he made one that no one can replicate lol
Danny Carey edition of Animusic
Wish I could see your reaction but the GD flashing light making where I have to minimize you.

But here's the question: Did we ask tho?
@@im_in_immense_pain weren't you that one guy who ran around shouting "think for yourself, question authority" after the aenima release? ;)
@@metalhos no not at all lol
I like this so much more than Merkaba
This 1 is weird. Is this even music? Can it really be called a song? Only thing I like about it is, 7empest is next

Totally agree!
