The YZ250, its the claw hammer of dirt bikes. Simple, nothing fancy, but incredibly reliable and still competitive. It doesn't cost a lot to rebuild and pays dividends in smiles.

@@dirtniron I'd go 11oz stealthy or the GYTR , I dont use one. All I ride is hard enduro type trails. you are true engineers of these machines believe me. in brazil you would be the best you can believe. what a workshop to envy, and what skills you have.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this build turns out. You should have a good time on this build Rado Yamaha's are quite nice to work on and have many options as far as upgrades and mods. Great video! 👍👍👍👍
if you need an advice, if you want to turn the bike into a wood bike you should try an fmf ngharly pipe and an fmf carbon or alluminum silencer. however you're a great, keep it up
Happy New Year buddy! The YZ should be a sweet project. Please please keep it a 250, get it cleaned up ports etc, but keep it a 250, so much you can do to that bike for extra of omf with out a big bore kit! I have said this before most people can’t ride a 300 to anywhere near its potential, a 250 you can ride longer, faster safer and have more fun! develop skill and technique rather than trying to use power, a 250 has plenty of that anyway, It would also give a really good comparison to your 300 and maybe see the light. Look fwd to your build dude. 🤙
Maverick, what you said is exactly what I said in the video where I was sharing my plans for this build. :) I will keep it 250, do some porting and head mods, and exactly as you said, I have already 300 in the garage, I want to get 250 experience too!
Start with the engine soon Rado, I'm starting to work on my YZ 250 X and can't wait to see your engine getting stripped down! ....That sounds kinda weird... 😄Keep it up man! All the best in 2020!
@@dirtniron Need to change the crank seal, check clutch wear, repair the shock, change rear brake disc and pads, replace the pipe for DEP, replace the exhaust filling, maybe new head frame bearing, and would love to vapor blast a lot, especially engine. @@dirtniron well I really want to go buy a brand new yz but in the long run it doesn't make sense because I can just update an 2007 model and there is basically no difference between the 2007 and 2020 besides from cosmetic and some minor suspension updates , and it doesn't make sense to spend all that money that I'll probably still need to upgrade
@@dirtniron Don't put too much on as you are younger than I am. Keep the ability to nail the throttle and bring the rear end around when you need it. Copy days after I brought my 2018 yz250, I torn it down completely and started over. Headset bearings, swingarm bearings, linkage bearings and shock bearing were nearly no grease. I've owned over 50 bikes n trikes n quads over the past 40 years. None of my mx bikes were bought used, none of them had any grease. Reassemble is always done with a drop of blue loctight on EVERY BOLT and NUT. All are torqued with a TORQUE WRENCH, guessing does not work out in the long run. Nothing I hate more then repairing or trying to put plastic back on a friends bike because he is too lazy to PROPERLY MAINTAIN HIS BIKE before trail riding.

Something you will notice too is, the clutch hub is drilled on the yz250 and its solid on the yz250x (helps act as flywheel weight value)
