Brad is good but not great. Anyone can work on a dirt bike motor it's not hard. I would never have him do work on my engines to heavy handed foes not take his time.
He's so confident when splitting the cases he does it with an impact gun!! Meanwhile I'm over here taking 1/8 turns with my wrench then checking everything softly with a rubber mallet.....
Can,t wait to hear this Tom Morgan ripper fire up. Millenium didn,t leave quite enough clearance one time on a 06 rm250 of mine. Give it a check to be safe. good luck on the project fellas
I'd guess the broken power valve actuator arm, saved the powervalve componants from wearing out - perhaps from some earlier attempt to retime/adjust the valve via some ilconceived previous owners different ECU/Ignition failed 'home-tuning' (or very unknowledgable garage/shop) mod ? ..or something, that caused the valve to hit the port bridge/stop at the wrong exhaust flow time and cause the arm to fail ?

clutch taking out a bigend - what planet. Just put a clutch basket it in so it disengages easily. The trans will be fine, maybe 2nd gear and measure the shift fork finger thickness, they get false neutrals
I put brandnew vforce reeds in my 2018 yz250, I ride mostly hard enduro, after 1 ride, I took the vforce reeds out and they been on the shelf since. I lost alot of slow end lugability. Up top n mid range they were a improvement over stock reeds but most of my riding is lugging around.

Ryan Muller when the clutch goes out like that the motor RPM will be really high and bike going nowhere witch in turn would cause heat to build in rod bearing Because motor if flying and going nowhere
@@brad5664 bearings need a bit of a load or it just kinda revolves around and is able to slightly float in a way. For lack of a better term. That's how I see it. Be nice internet I'm not an engineer 😆
@@robbed_of_sanity when a clutch goes out tho and you are pinned because your think your going slow so you just keep it pinned your motor will over heat and lean out there for on a rod bearing that is already worn out it would just burn up the bearing ,,
And I probably should have said that could be 1 of the reasons why the rod failed . It’s just some people think they can just keep it pinned when there clutch is slipping that bad ... I had where you could put in gear let out clutch and gas it and go nowhere! That’s bad o the hole motor
Hmm, I may jump in here. I'm not a mechanic, but I am clued up on motors. Unless the design changed over the years. 2t rods have a roller bearing both top and bottom. They do wear out. But the crank pin big end likely would come up to spec if mic'd. And those crank wheels too would have been fine. The shafts don't spin in the bearings.. So this uneven wear about the clutch going bad causing excessive wear on the crank/ big end, seems like some theory some one has come up with. Now if we where talking harmonics. Or excessive rpm throwing the big end into excessive load from inertia, that too would be a feasible approach. But I'm not buying the heat generated. More parts would fail before the big end would be effected by such heat to cause failed. IMHO.
Are you using the yz250x transmission in this build ? Just curious as you say you have a wide ratio gear box and wondered if it’s a straight swap Thanks
Ah. So how bad is it if there are scratch marks on the inside of the crankcase from a bearing going out? No cracks all the way through, but I'm looking at a decent wear mark almost all the way round. Thought i'd sandpaper/scotchbrite it out?
So funny, I felt panic when he started tossing it all in that bag. Would be so satisfying to have it all down to memory like that. It’s like watching kids clearing the triple at the mx track. Envy.
At 8:24 it looks like there's a crack in the case going down from the main bearing, through to the exterior of the engine about 1" long. Doesn't look like a manufacturing mark, that one. It veers off around the bolt hole.
hello.... they are just case marks all the yz250 have them they do look scary but its cast making i can clean them up and you would not see them when we do the motor in the next i will show more on what they are
Why would you put it to separate bags, and how many bags? The main reason is to know how to put it back together and dont loose any small parts, right? So imagine that you know exactly where every small washer and spring goes, because you build like 6-8 engines weekly, would you still bag it all separately?
well technically the pate is called a holder but it uses pressure to keep the valve so it doesn't move around so we just call it pressure plate the springs are called compression springs but again it uses pressure ...thats why we just call them pressure
Hate watching guys slapping the rod around and taking it apart with piston still on the rod take a rag or something and at least stuff it in there kind of a hack

not really, its made in metals, not from ceramics/porcelains.
