Sometimes I think to myself "Why don't I join one of these competitions?" And then I see the results... I'm not even a builder compared to these people! I think I'll never be on this level. This is just... EPIC!
@@captain-ki9hh exactly this. You *may* not think that your builds are any good.. but if you ever have had someone, anyone, say "this is amazing" you know you've made it. Don't compare yourself to others.. just grow your own style and techniques. Heck, if you want to join a build competition... DO IT! :P
Survival building is so much different compared to creative building, survival building without debug and graining with commands is huge for building and of course many other creative aspects, but survival is a lot more about resource gathering and utilizing it as best you can. For example farming 1 million copper for a domed copper roof is gonna take you hundred hour in survival. While in creative only a frw
@@captain-ki9hh Actually after this comment I realised that no, I don't. I prefer to build small player-sized builds without (or almost without) commands and debugging. This builds are cpectacular and fun to look at, but I'm just going for the different style.
Thanks for reviewing my build! Having it as a contender for the survival friendly category was actually a decision I made about halfway through. My main goal from the start was to use natural lighting/shadow as well as the irony of an empty community space to make the player feel the solitary theme while they explore.
with just how important lighting is to artworks its crazy to review these builds with the night vision on. Also, plot 0,1(A_Dancing_Lamp)'s build really showcases their talent for being able to do things but also shows how important restraint is. The build is insanely overloaded and is nearly impossible to make any sense of without going over it with a fine toothed comb. It could easily become the best build of them all if it was more channeled and directed instead of just the explosion of color it ended up as
at 39:09 you can see that there is a single seat flipped down, i think that that's probably the idea for the "solitary" aspect of that build, one person using a huge structure meant for many.
I noticed that as well and was hoping someone else would. It indeed should maybe have ranked higher for that singular detail, but I guess maybe it wasn't contextualized enough in its summary/details?
I saw this too! I think there are a few examples within the build, like each section might have a “solitary” element. I noticed one of the theatre rooms had a single chair on the stage in an empty room and I also wouldn’t be surprised if the “empty” library actually had just 1 book, they just didn’t see it.
The people who build things like this are not human. I wish i could do even a fraction of this kind of building and have the motivation to even start trying.
@@opal9583 haha thanks 😊. I’ve been playing on and off since it came out back in 2012. I’ve made some cool bases. I did my best and I’m glad it looks good, at least aesthetically. And yes, I could have added much more details to certain parts of the spaceship, even for the blue parts, but I started working on the interiors without considering how much time I had left 😅
I recognized Qu1nten's work immediately! He does a lot of this Renaissance/Neoclassical architecture style but the custom lighting is a new masterpiece for him. Love to see him get recognition for his talents.
To the builders from this video. It's amazing how your builds make people lose their sense of the game by how realistic they are. I'ts like I'm not even playing Minecraft. Amazing!
This is a beautiful representation illustrating how Minecraft is an art medium, a poetry platform, an author's vision of their story come to realization, and how the possibilities are endless. Huge respect for all of the artists. And tysm for giving structure builders a platform to shine. ❤
To make up for their judgemental judging 😂, this is unreal… every one of them! The amount of time each one must’ve taken is unimaginable!!! And the attention to detail is also insane! Outstanding job to every one of those builders 👏👏👏 something not everyone can do yet alone even a little part of it! Keep it up!

I believe I do with the clips of them with shaders. some of them had interiors where nv is necessary to see properly in video. Plus, it's my habit to look at builds this way.
jaw droppingly beautiful, every piece here deserves to be hung up in a gallery, Also i wanted to give my interpretation of plot 2,16 ( 39:13 ) solitairy could be the lone theatre seat that is down and sat on while the others are untouched. Whatching or getting excited about something alone.
The oval shapes in the buried dome might be because in classical architecture the middle columns were usually spaced a little further apart so as to create the illusion of them being equally spaced.
I feel that the judges overvalue the importance of texturing. Texturing works in many builds, but I think some builds like TicoChs look better with minimal texturing. Most real buildings are made of a few materials so the texture throughout the building is largely the same. Texturing works for fantastical architecture but having a smaller block pallet makes the buildings more realistic and beautiful in its own way.
@@WILLATRONIXi think yours is an exception because of the scale it was built in. Trying to texture a smaller scale building can make it look grainy and messy.
Only one thing remains, this is a contest with many other plots to compare things to. I’m not saying it’s bad because it lacks texturing. The purpose of a build review is I’m simply looking for ways each build can be improved. This is how we all learn and grow.
Sorry but I am going to disagree with u on this and I see this statement repeated enough that it peeves me whenever I see it. In real life actually buildings are made up of many different materials and materials in real life are was less consistent in "texture" than minecraft is. Any average brick wall in real life that is not brand new(and even then) has way more variation in texture that what u would get in MC when one block with the exact same texture is repeated over and over. Particularly when viewed from up close. In real life most of the time when one looks at a building it will be from far away. If one is trying to take in the whole of a house or building one will have to move back and look at it from quite a few meters away , with that distance being greater as the building gets bigger. In my experience and I look at buildings in real life a lot. I walk a lot (I hate cars , I almost never go in them , I am particularly sensitive to the effect of acceleration)and one of my hobbies is looking at architecture, there are very few buildings that look "good" when viewed from very close. Also "texture" in minecraft is a lot about colour variation and in real life unless a wall or other element was just freshly painted and is in full light there are tons of colour variations in a wall of even the same material. Depending on the weather even 5 years can do a lot to the colour of a brick wall. Reality is much more noisy than a minecraft build if there is no block variation. Noise is a whole subject on its own and while I do not want to expand on the topic too much but reality is noisy. Whether it be sight , sound or taste our bodies are subject to a huge amount of noise on a regular basis. A forest is Hella busy, whether sight or sound there is a lot going on. But our bodies are accustomed to it and in a way anything that is not noisy feels less real. A "straight"line AFAIK does not exist in nature. And digital audio recordings especially in the early days suffered from this. One of the easiest ways to introduce a bit of life and body to a digital recording that is too clean is to introduce a bit of noise in the background. Analog audio recordings are incredibly noisy. Now I would agree with u that in some cases less variation in "texture" can provide an easier viewing experience. But even then my opinion is that it depends on what one is used to. Personally I find the heavy block variation stuff attractive for a while . Even back when MC had less blocks and builders weren't doing it as much as today I favored highly detailed builds that seemed noisy or busy. I am accustomed to it and find anything without a certain amount of noise bare and sparse looking. Builds that do not have much block variation do not look realistic to me. Especially if noise is not introduced with a good amount of finer detail work. What it looks like to me is minecraft or Lego. I personally find it looks uninteresting. I personally enjoy noisy no matter what the scale is. If you are saying that less "textured" can be easier on the eyes of someone who is unacustomed to it. Or that it can work better for a specific composition or that u prefer something less noisy or busy then I would agree on the premise but if u are saying less realistic I am going to have to push back. A photographer or painter or cinematographer spends a lot of time trying to reduce or control "realism" to create a specific effect, theme , feeling or idea imo. how do you know the build at 28:15 is a cathedral? cathedral isnt a architectural style, and it isnt based on the size of the building. there are many large churches that are not cathedrals, see for example Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Brussels or the largest church in the world, st Peters basilica in the vatican city. a cathedral is simply a church that has the seat of a bishop in it. these can be very small, see the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Oulu for example. furthermore, the build has no crosses i could see or interior that would suggest it being a church, these suggest to me that the build is infact, not a cathedral.
The word "church" also refers to a gathering or group of people, not a building, yet in our modern world we've adapted the word to apply to the building style itself even though Biblcally that's inaccurate. All I know is, everyone I've seen in the building community refers to the style as cathedrals and if nothing else it's a way to define the style without coming up with an obscure term no one recognizes.
