    The tip about getting your fingers as wide on the ball as you can and making sure your flicking your wrist just elevated me. I've been playing for years but I always played post so there was no need for me to dribble. Now I'm playing guard and I need this skill. Thanks coach!

  • @mprosiles
    @mprosiles 3 ปีที่แล้ว +60

    1. Bend the Wrists, increase ball in hand time
    2. Keep hands close on crossovers (again, maximizing ball in hand time)
    3. Hip Mobility, allows you to get lower, can practice with touching the ground on crossovers
    4. Getting a good grip, palm ok, finger ends touching ball
    (from other vid, incorporating dribbling and passing to suicide drills)

    coach of 30+ years here with a quick fundamentals question... I've always emphasized with feeder program kids to avoid dribbling the ball between their feet on crossovers but to instead pull the ball back hip-to-hip for greater ball protection. Does your "keep your hands close enough to almost clap on a crossover" teaching point contradict that? Thanks in advance!

    • @GetHandles
      @GetHandles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can still be done in that way with it being "close to a clap" but may require players to be more flexible.

    Because the brain. Neurogically, some of us are really geared toward the right side (of the brain), bring those bad habits to (for instance) a right-handed person. Muscle memory and practice should help.

    I always struggled with getting good ball handling when I played basketball back in the day. But I'm pretty sure dribbling like this back then would have been called carrying the ball. Still interesting to watch though!

    I never understood how players can dribble outside on the streets, asphalt etc with the uneven ground and not be phased by the ball bouncing off in a slightly different angle... I could never master that ...

      I’d say get better at stationary dribbling first. Then those learned skills should transfer over. After you’re decent while standing still then start doing some back and forth or up and down the court drills. That’s what I’m about to start doing.

      My advice if you're a point/shooting guard , more so point guard one trick is to get someone like the small forward to dribble it up first you then get them to pass it back when your past halfway and from there you can just control it by passing it around or walking with the ball, another is to just jog and or keep it steady, idk lol

    Those who are telling that what he said is carry ,but the refs just do not call it ,I just want to tell u that if u think these are carry than a lot of nba players are carrying .Steph curry , kyrie irving are one of the best players now ,and they are famous for these dribbles which u call carry.A person who is trying to help u ,pls do not be rude to them just don't follow it or don't watch it . Maybe U do not enjoy watching it or it is not helpful for u ,but it might help others .And if his head is brighter than your future ,than your future is dark not dark really dark
