As a 35 year who has never been particularly active and has only started playing basketball again, thank you so much for this. It’s clear and easy to follow. As a rightie though, still stuck with trying to make overhead shots with my left hand, which is freaking murder
Hey bro!! I wanted to ask yu some questions related to the game coz I'm have just started playing basketball and I have very low knowledge about basketball please reply to me I need yur help🙏😭
I think if you want to be more flashy and have more finesse you could go with the underhand layup but if you’re a beginner/not good at layups then definitely go with the overhand
Try a one leg for the shooting drill after the starting drill. It really helps you develop the balance and move the focus away from the shot so you can do it easier.
This was a awesome video, taking the time to work on something very fundamental and simple is always a plus, thanks coach for this vid, great teaching 👍🏽
My dude, ur an excellent teacher, u truly break every aspect down so as all can understand. I actually always wondered why in so many games, 2 me anywayz, most layups look like one step 2 many r taken.... i now understand why it appeared that way, it's all bout that pivot foot,... just as long as that ft (ie; coming in from the left, ball up on ur left side, and u can take that 1st step w ur left, just after u launch off w that right ft make sure not 2 let that left ft hit the ground till the balls out of ur hands. Tru thanx for making that so easily understandable.) I also like ur lil tips, like getting comfy just taking ur shot from under the rim, practicing ur footwork w/out the hoop, and 2 try n keep in mind that ur layup hand and corresponding leg/knee are attached by an invisible rope. At 39yrs old, being i haven't even held a bball in a decade, ihave 2 say,... it's most def not like 'riding a bike'. So getting bak at basics is most def what i need. So again, u have my thanx, as well as a new sub. Stay up brother.
Thanks going to work on this tomorrow in the gym, been working on my jump shot for a wile and it’s gotten way better, now need to work on my lay ups because I can’t lay up for shit.
I know this video is from a year ago but thank you, all my life I have played soccer but basketball always caught my attention even though i was very bad a it, thanks to videos like this with a good explanation step by step I can improve and play something different and not just limit myself to see others do it, again thank you very much
Sir , i used to do lap shots with right handed by jumping on right foot kicking left foot up . I feels this good for me. Also this helps me to basket more easily. It is similar to do a layup from left side. Is it right or not ? Please tell me.
Thanks for the video, this is for an 11 year old boy who just decided to practice basketball, I hope it doesn't take him long to learn. I congratulate you for your videos.
Hey I'm a lefty too! I hope this works tho, I'm really not good at basketball at my age, well I'm 18 and I barely know how to play. But still I'll make it work on my game on monday🤞🏼 p.s. it's just a friendly game but people are watching 🥲🥲
My Teacher: Do these basketball progression drills, or find videos to add voiceovers to. Also My Teacher: It will be very hard, its the harder way. Me: * Searches up how to do layups and finds this video and doesn't need any other video. Thank you so much, this video saved me 3-5 hours. I am so happy thanks you.
I started playing basketball again after like 3 days of not playing and idk why but my brain would not compute and I couldn’t make my layups… so now I’m here😭😭😭
Thanks sir this is very helpful for me i joined this year only for basketball in basketball i can't to put layup but now you helped me thank you so much❤❤❤
Hey Coach, can you help by making a video on OFFENCE TIPS,like how to move to rim during match, what should be the idea of play for OFFENCe,Even small tip helps, thanks.
My daughters and son play and I want to develop more coordination and speed for my daughters they are going to 8th and 9th grade and are 5’6 and 5’7. I bought ladders and gonna start having them run to get ready for next season. Anything you guys recommend ?
The fact that I can hit elbow fadeaways, sketchy layups with my right hand, and dribble the rock pretty good, but I still can't hit a simple left hand layup is unpleasing
@@ddo1114 yup, I worked on my left hand for the past few months and I can clearly see results. Its still not as good as my dominant hand but progress is progress
@@gamal01 yeah, I feel like every year I become a better version of myself. Last 2 years I worked on my defense pretty much, and now I can say that I can lock up pretty much every position on the court, but I still gotta learn how to read pump fakes in the paint cuz somehow old heads are better on offense vs me than crafty and fast guards. And this year I imporved my footwork, jumpshot, dribble and the left hand game so much. And i'll keep grinding

Caution, overhead release is extremely easy to block if your a short guy... practice underhand if below 5'10
