Bala is the hummus of language , you use it with everything.
Smh we use yalla
🤣 nice!
Hummus is Balila ..
Hummus is not used with everything
Not hummus but olive oil
Fun fact:
Bala (بلى ) is just as what Mark said which is emphatic yes.
But bila (بلا ) means without , as b means "with" and la means "no" and so together it becomes "with no" that is "without"
Have a nice day :)
Thank you for this. I’m learning modern formal Arabic. My first attempt at a second language. I actually understood this and I’m thrilled. I have a question though. He said Bala Akhle. Is he using غ? It’s a letter that I have a very difficult time pronouncing. بلى اكغلت?
@@fxbear No he's using خ so it goes like this بلا اخلاق
@@fxbear
Yes just like Hadi replied, it is "بلا أخلاق" actually but in Lebanese accent they drop the ق.
As for "غ" this is how "R" is pronounced in French. Hope this helps.
Good luck with learning Arabic!
@@fxbear Asalamou alaykoum. Im also a non arab trying to learn al fussha (modern standard arabic) and to prounce that letter it is just like the French way of saying 'r', like réponse, rapide, in french. Another method is making your throat vibrate while saying it. I recommen you to advance this video to 19:55 I think he explains it perfectly th-cam.com/video/Qwdyx9kAPlU/w-d-xo.html
@@mouhamedfall852 in french or german, both use r as غ
5 videos in one week, how did we deserve that? 🙈
BALA...... A famous bollywood song 😂😂🎶🎶😂😂
*Bala (Μπάλα) in greek means ball*
There is also "Bala haraket !!" = "Stop with your movements/manners !!" which is often said by parents towards their children in Lebanon in order to stop the latter from acting badly. Thanks Mark Hachem for the videos ! Bise de France et de Belgique, mbala !
Bala = without
Balla with an emphasis on the L = Oh really??! (Sarcastic) “Oh yeah??!!? Is that right!!?” (sarcastic)
It's so cool that we have the same word in Portuguese meaning "candy" 😂
Thanks for the video. I want to go one day to Lebanon!! I'm in the USA and I don't feel at home here. Your videos are good and I have to say I love your voice ❤️
In iraq we have Bale (بلي) It's also mean yes
This works with طيب even better
Bala in Turqic languages means a baby, an infant...
and of course, the hand gesture is essential
Very nice content, Mark! I love to see your videos, especially when you explain the Arabic (Lebanese) language. It seems to be a very figurative language, like drawing with words. I love that! Shukran :)
Say merci like a true Lebanese
I don't mean it in a rude way tho
Loved the ending music. The ending of the video was also quite nice. Brought more personality after the usual Arabic style.
Shukran
thanks for these videos !
You’re doing great Mark. Thanks 🙏
Great teacher! Awesome embassador!
Habibi.....love your videos!!
You're so caring!
Good video habibi ahla Form germany
man I love your videos =in Arabic=(ma 2loun 3aze... bayne w baynak)
Love how he finds even more examples as he goes I feel. Bala Abad lol love this guy
"Bala" can also mean "no" in Syrian Arabic, e.g.
- Shall I get you another drink?
- Bala.
And "eh bala" is used as an irritated response, meaning something like "And it's all the better without you!" e.g.
- I don't wanna go with you.
- Eh bala.
That can confuse me 😂 bala بلى means "yes/yea" affirmative to a negative question. But in the Syrian dialect we say "mbala" for this word. So I guess problem averted 🙈🇸🇾
That's a "si" for the French speakers
In Lebanon we would say belleh or belleha if we don’t want smth not the word itself
احلى قناة على يوتيوب
It is "Bilaa" in Urdu and we use it like this Bila Shuba = without a doubt, Bila Taakheer= without delay
😂 mark's examples just make it all
Make another vid about “Balla” too
Was taught bala zo as uncouth.
BALA WALA CHIIII - is a good song hahah
BALA...... A famous bollywood song 😂😂🎶🎶😂😂
Excuse me for saying this Mark, but you are the sexiest Lebanese man I have ever seen!!!
You know Mark Lebanese are just like Sicilians we use our hands more than we talked and the more we talked and more our hands fly
You forgot bala manikeh
MBLA relates to بلى which is contextually as well as visually different from بلا.
helwin l latshet 👍

You missed the most important one: “Balaaaaaaa” often said with a sarcastic tone

@Вхламинго BALA...... A famous bollywood song 😂😂🎶🎶😂😂
@Вхламинго Syrians also lol
@Вхламинго to be fair, majority of Arabs don't pronounce it, not only Lebanese.
I don't know why i unsubscribed from you haha back thdn you weren't offering classes I'm going to have to sign up for them soon!! Can't wait shukran
Welcome back!
Thinking about it for a second, Bala zo would make more sense if you think of it as "without tact"
3:31 Could someone pls explain and give more examples of this Mbala? Back in Vietnam my homecountry, the kids always say /umbala/ as a "password" before doing something magical, such as open a mysterious box. I think that comes from cartoons from Arab world, such as Aladin.
The guy going to Dubai to get vaccinated is the most unCanadian thing ever! Bala akhle' indeed!
Is the vaccination made of Gold? If it is, could not blame the man, how else wanna show off, his money? Dha!?
@@plsstopusingmyname who would be impressed by that? It's such a selfish thing to do. And how does he know he got the real vaccine, anyway...so easy to get scammed...

1 dollar is 10,000 lebanese pounds now.. its extremely hard for us lebanese people now and its just too unfair man.
Already screwed. No other option.
15000 now , well if you can afford the minimum less than average food just to fill our belly and not starve and education i guess we are surviving but definitely not living
Yahlah is widely used also.
Bala mashekil
I dare most of you to try to translate bala marba lol 😅
Bala JAJAJA la palabra que mejor entienden los árabes
🙋🙋🙋
Bala jadbeh, bala haywaneh lol
Marc some people say mbala2 instead of mbala, so i believe it's a mix of na3am and la2. What do you think?
We say mbala2a also 😂
Basically just adding exaggeration to an already exaggerated expression 😂😂😂
You can consider the mbala2 as a response to someone saying la2
Someone asks: "do you want mjadara?"
The other responds: "la2"
And that someone gets pissed because his question was rhetoric and didn't search for an actual response so they say: "mbala2!!"
Et voilà you got yourself a disturbed Lebanese who was forced to eat mjadara :P
Just kidding, I personally love mjadara 😂
@@celena702 very good example! I honestly hate on mjadra cz i fear public humiliation 🥰🤚 but it's good if you had to eat it once a year
is labanese same as egyptian??? if yes than how much percent same
What about « bala akel khara » ? 🙂
Bila = Without in Swahili too
@Вхламинго yessir, Swahili comes from Sawahil which to my understanding means shore/coast
Hello my fellow Malcolm x fan
@@AlpArslanTheSeljuk hello.
@Вхламинго Being a native Swahili speaker I've been trying to piece the connection between Swahili and Arabic, aside from the obvious slave trade, I've been trying to learn the similarities to build a base for my Arabic. Especially al-lahjah al-shaami
ملاحظتك الأخيرة صحيحة: لا علاقة بين "بَلى"، التي صارت "إمبلى" بالعامّيّة، و"بِلا"، بمعنى "مِن غير".
Bala - baby in Marathi 🇮🇳 (assuming this came from Mughal/Turkic influence بالا)
Bala - power, strength in Sanskrit 🇮🇳
Bala - Up, Above, On top in Persian 🇮🇷
Fun fact: I heard an Arab dude yelling this out outside a restaurant today 💀
Huh? Strange. I use Bala for "yes" and Bidoun for "without". And this is in Syria.
3:29 Nevermind. That's the one I use for "yes", must have confused it with Bala.
I swear when I saw this the first time I thought he ment *Ballaa'* as in : بلع. Which means in Northwest African dialect : shut, close. So I thought he was going to teach us how to tell someone to "shut the fuck up" in Arabic.
No here is the original word is bela بِلا means without
Fun fact, that word actually means swallow in Arabic, or at least it does here in Jordan
@@august1837 SO... you're saying it could *come* useful in some scenarios? ;)
@@MitchelltheBarbarian I wasn’t thinking about that, but yeah sure. Let me know if you want to know how to conjugate the verb to fit the situation. بلع is just the root. Sorry if you already know that
If i dm you will you answer me?

I Don't think that you should be angery all the time when you speak Arabic . No ?
Hey
BALA...... A famous bollywood song 😂😂🎶🎶😂😂
Mbala = "Doch" in German
👍🙂 we need an English equivalent
It isn't really an emphatic yes, mbala or "si" in french are both meant to give a corrective, postive response to a negative assumption : "you didn't, did you ?" mbala ! si ! it's like yes but only in response to a negative.
But it can and often will have a component of emphasis, of course
Bala akel khara
You forget
BALA AKEL KHARA
Don't say "we'll sweep away the Mediterranean Sea." Cos legit that's happened :P

Also work when someone is telling a lie to your face and you don't believe a word of what he's saying THEN you go ''EMBALA'' meaning what you just said is a LIE and i don't believe you.

هذه ليست اللغة العربية الفصحى
هذه اللهجة اللبنانية
this is not the Arabic language
this is Lebanon language accent
That’s the point of the video lol. And not trying to be rude, but it’s called a dialect, not an accent
بس كلمة بلا موجودة بالفصحى (بلا شك)
***dialect NOT accent
