Im thinking of freezing the area on her back with frozen peas .......for a few minutes before I give her her shot , Is this a good idea toreduce her pain ?

      @@gramack4740 you can always ask your vet for advice. In my experience the animals don’t usually react much to getting an injection with an insulin syringe. Maybe go over your technique with your vet to make sure you’re doing it right?

    I've been giving insulin to my dog for about 1 month now. But there's been a few times that when i give her the shot the insulin seems to be ending up on her fur. I'm not sure if I'm getting the syringe in crooked and it's poking out of her skin somehow? This is frustrating because I know she's not getting her full dose of insulin.

    lol, absolutely not visible. I see the tech holding tented skin, then a needle. I don’t see the needle go in - can’t see if it’s going into the “tent” part, or closer to the frame of the dog, or what. Can’t see any of this because the action is behind the tented skin - but the camera is in front.

    I've always heard that you're not supposed to give insulin in the scruff of the neck because scar tissue builds up easily there and slows the absorption of insulin...

    • @comesahorseman
      @comesahorseman ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can vary the location; try giving it up to 4 or 5 inches to either side of the center of the scruff, to slow down scar formation.

  • @meloncloud

    I have never given shots before, I was taught by a client I work with. I wonder how much I’ve been doing that’s dangerous😰 (i gave shots for 2 days, I wanted to learn other areas where I could give the shot.) I haven’t been pulling the skin, they just said find a fatty area- on this old dog who has more bones than fat atm, don’t worry not from not having food, and uhh to just stick it straight in and inject. If the dog whimpers when other times they don’t, does that mean I’ve hit a something I shouldn’t inject into? If I haven’t been drawing to test for blood, is that deadly?
