Blanc is very bad at dumb things, so since Miles' murdering Andi was so dumb, that Blanc didn't suspect him at first. He expected Miles to be more complex than that. But nope. That's Blanc's Achilles' Heel. That's why he solved the murder mystery game so quickly. It was written by Gillian Flynn, a very good mystery writer, so it was a walk in the park for him. Puzzles and games are too easy for him. And the Clue board game and Among Us are nothing like how a real mystery is done, so that's why he sees them as terrible games. It's so dumb, he's very bad at it. It's too simple.
Blanc is the embodiment of overthinking it.

That's funny too cause he felt so invigorated by solving the "good" fake mystery, and so bummed out after solving the "bad" real mystery... Although everything Benoit Blanc does in the first half has to be taken with a grain of salt since he's putting on an act as well, pretending he was invited and whatnot. So who knows if he really enjoyed solving the fake mystery or not but I like to believe he did.

@@lashier13 He said puzzles and games are like a vacation. So he liked it, but it didn't fill the void he had. Not even this real mystery he was just so upset after learning how unoriginal and dumb it all was. He needed danger, a hunt, a great case. He expected complexity, but he got a Glass Onion.

I love the fact that, at the end, when the whole empire is burning down (as Andi promised she would make happen in her email, and which Helen accomplished), Blanc isn't even in the house. He's just outside, chilling with Derol (and yes, apparently it's spelled Derol), watching things play out and just thoroughly enjoying himself. Like he told Helen, he's not Batman. All he could do was tell her what happened, and why, and couldn't do anything beyond that. He sure wasn't lying.

Just a note about the security system at 23:20 One office I worked in had security sensors intended to go off if someone broke a window. Problem is, it detected sound, and would only go off if the noise was both loud and sudden. So music would be no problem; a speech would be no problem; but the applause reacting to the speech would. At one point someone opened a can of NOS energy drink, and just the knock on the table from the carbonation was enough to set it off. :/

It really is kind of great how Rian Johnson, a writer/director famous for subverting expectations, subverted expectations with his own created world. The whole "glass onion" metaphor really is apt. I was watching a video the other day breaking it all down, and you'd never expect a red herring to be the actual killer, because it's just so obvious that it's dumb, and that's exactly why Blanc doesn't immediately figure it out. It's all just too obvious and stupid, and Blanc just assumed it'd be something more clever and intricate. It wasn't. It was just dumb, and that's precisely why he couldn't figure it out, because he wasn't expecting the answer to be in plain sight the whole time.

    • @edisonlima4647

@@JeffKelly03 I love that is not just a twist, but it is one that makes sense.
A murderer would have to be stupid and unimaginative to commit a murder of which he himself would be the primary suspect, and it is only after concluding that yep, Milles is THAT dumb, he can solve the mystery.
He needed that clue, that we were presented to with him.
So it DOES subvert the expectation, but remains absolutely loyal to the traditional rules of a good murder mystery.
Unlike some other stories that subvert expectations by doing random stuff that comes out of nowhere.

Hi, love both of your reactions. I've watched your TEAM AMERICA reaction 4 times, it's hilarious just laughing with both of you. Sorry if this seems kinda random, but there are three movies that you should be sure to watch the Theatrical Cut and not the Director's Cut: I Am Legend and The Butterfly Effect and Stephen King's 1408. No spoilers here, but the Director's Cuts for all 3 movies tested very poorly with audiences. So, powers-that-be had reshoots for all 3 movies and created extremely different endings. All 3 movies were released in the 2000s in 2-Disc DVD sets, with both versions. BUT, when the movies were initially released onto streaming services, only the Director's Cuts were available. Over the years, all 3 had the theatrical releases included on streaming services, but in my opinion, the damage was already done, because the 3 movies became known as having poor endings for the 1st decade of people who exclusively watched movies by streaming them. The 3 Theatrical Cuts are all very good movies, worth your reaction or viewing. I hope you found this information useful.

      @snorpenbass4196 ปีที่แล้ว

Of course, the real Mona Lisa was painted on canvas stretched on wood, not just canvas. So the one Miles had...was probably not the original. Also, the guitar wasn't actually Paul McCartney's, because Paul McCartney is left-handed. This is intentional. Miles Bron is an idiot who buys things that aren't real because he's too stupid to know the difference.

A few things I love about the film
    1. Throughout the film they show hints that miles is a fraud and an idiot
He tells blanc that he had someone else design the boxes and the murder mystery for him,
Miles's dock is useless outside of high tide
He keeps his car on the roof rather than parked on the ground cause he thinks if he can't drive it, it doesn't need to be there
He never thought to burn or detour the napkin until Lionel mentions it etc.
    2. A glass onion is an allegory for something that seems layered but is simple and see through like miles
    3. Helen wears her hair to the opposite side Andi did
She also tells the group "My life was taken, by everyone here, my life!"
She knows her sister was killed and ruined by the group.
    Etc.

    A Knives Out Mystery
The 2019 original Knives Out and the 2022 sequel Glass Onion are rewatchable films. Unlike other movies in the “whodunit” (murder) genre, the reveals enhanced rewatch experience as subtle clues became obvious.
The director (Rian Johnson) is a master of expectation subversion and misdirection, as he made a distinctly different sequel in the same universe. Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is the only returning character anchoring both movies.
The first movie was set in a stuffy New England house of a patriarch and his dysfunctional family (old money-ish).
The sequel was set on a private Greek island of a tech billionaire surrounded by his inner circle of “disrupters” (new money-ish).
The first movie is better (in my opinion), but the second is a worthy sequel - more transparent (glass), more layered (onion), and more fun (island).

Really enjoy this period it's both formulate and inventive. Ryan does lean Little heavily on the placement of his flashbacks to mislead that it becomes obvious that he is misleading you with them . The twin twist was the only surprise and even that has been done before period the whole thing of a party invite people over who might want to have a chance to kill you and then it turns out that you are the one trying to kill them again very formulate but In an inventive And entertaining way

I liked this little more, but It may he cast, bc I really like actors here... Hmm..
But I agree the are fir me quiet at the same level, very goid movies, fun to watch and interesting.
I like movies like this bc there is something going, you think bc you want to find yourself answer but also you enjoy a raid, but also they are not heavy even tho they are about murder, etc.
That is why I also like films about haist and crime series.
That is why my favorite francise is Ocean's movies. They have all. The best cast in the world, great mystery, casinos, haist, and a lot of humor.

If you wanted to get the Misses into an anime Case Closed/Detective Conan would be good one for her to watch a season of it. There's over 1000 episodes and it's been on since 1996. After a while it becomes a little to formulaic but a single season every few years is a decent way to watch it. I really don't hear anybody bring it up ever but it's consistently good and is truly a Sherlock Holmes style murder mystery series.

Disruption Theory BTW isn't really a theorem that promotes long-lasting business. Only 6% of "Disrupters" survive and basically only through other business making the mistake of buying them out. Usually they are beaten out by more stable business coopting their "Disruption" and improving on it, making it good for the market but basically the lottery level of good monetary policy on the "Disrupters" side of things.
A positive example is the Iphone, Apple in general kept up daily activities as they were but rolled out an experimental innovation based on nearly 30 year old tech that was finally viable (touchscreens). This allowed them to "Disrupt" the market of button phones with barely functional screens with little disruption to themselves.
If they had instead had a lot less starting capital and rolled out a single innovation instead of a device which broke the mold then their competition would have just one upped them and pushed them out or at best bought them out for patents. (which Apple didn't have since the touch screen and everything else in the Iphone 1 was really old tech just put together with new much faster chipsets in great ways)

Have you seen the classic Agatha Christies featuring Hercule Poirot? If not it would be great to see them on the channel - no one ever does them. There's the original Murder On the Orient Express from 1974 and Death On the Nile from 1978 - or the remakes from 2017 and 2022. Both the Orient Express films are really good, but in my opinion the 1978 Nile film is much superior to the remake. But anyway, lots of death, lots of speculation, and a great eccentric mind solving the mystery.
