Put up some trip wires that sound alarms, cans, pots and pans, popping sounds, etc. make him nervous to trespass on your property. Buy trail cams and record him trespassing. Start building a file on him to present in a court of law. Get a lawyer, a good lawyer. And fence your property!
I've been living on my land for 30 years, and I can relate to your problems with a bad neighbor. Most of my neighbors are cool, but it seems like there's always got to be that one bad one. I don't like calling the cops, but it's better to be on good terms with the cops than not. Perhaps you can put up some battery operated game cameras in the trees to catch him if he tries to rob you on your property again. Good luck.
I would make sure to cover all my bases, put up "NO TRESPASSING! TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED!" signs. It would cost a fortune to fence all your property. I am so glad we don't have that problem in Arizona. If a person trespasses on our land, we can have them arrested.
Louisiana Law (RS 14:63) States that if a person identifies vertical lines (an inch thick, not less than 8 inches in length) of purple paint on a sidewalk/driveway, the trees, or property, there is no trespassing. The purple lines, by law, are recognized the same way a posted "No Trespassing" sign is. If a person is guilty of trespassing, a 1st offense is a misdemeanor. If convicted of trespassing, a person could be fined up to $500 and spend time in jail, usually six months, or both. It's cheaper than actual signage and can be reapplied as necessary.
Looks like plenty of places for them to take a rest. I mean, it will be quiet, and if done right, they could stay there and enjoy nature forever... Just sayin.
Maybe neighbours should chip in and hire a few guys in masks to visit him at night,.If you can,t get justice you make your own.... Dont get caught though 😁😁😁
You're biggest problem is - You're in New York. I know you want to make a go of this but my best advice is sell the land and move South. We don't put up with that around here.
He got arrested at 6:30am this morning according to my good neighbors. He made the news for assault on some elderly person. I'll see if I can find and share.
@siriosstar4789 I don't know I really don't know. I had an excellent case I had all the evidence I validated that it was mine, I had pictures from last November of the stuff he stole in my other garage. They clearly had it on their property I could see it. I think he was informing, or the cops are just extremely lazy out here and want you to make the whole case for them
there's something very fishy about the whole thing . have you sought the advice of an attorney ? a short session might reveal something useful . I had a carpenter try to put a lien on my home after i fired him . he was being paid by the hour with no contract . i consulted with an attorney for about ten minutes. after hearing the story he said forget about it , he has zero chance of placing a lien on your house and or suing you .
Sometimes people just ... disappear.

Sorry you have to deal with this type of Low Life. Take care Brother
Get a donkey, best dam guard dog there is!
Junk lumber with nails just under the leaves. It works wonders
Have him formally trespassed then if he comes down your land for any reason he goes to jail !

@@BillsBayouI was going to comment that you didn't need a fence just purple paint to demark the no trespassing area.
Fence you property. Post it for no trespassing.
When criminals are "protected" by law enforcement they are usually "assets", that gives the perps confidence to abuse those around them.
Sounds like his camper is unfit for human habitation .... codes may need called
I think if you post "NO TRESPASSING" signs it will give you a bit more CLOUT in court.
I would say put up some fences, but your local police department sounds lazy af so probably not worth the time or money.

it isnt disrespectful to film police, it's your constitutional right. You are merely making a record of the encounter. Govt films you all the time.
go file a claim against his estate if he has a sscard he has an estate you can go after
I have a neighbor like this too. Always in everyone's business, steals from others. a real whack job

If he trespassed and stole something that's criminal trespass and theft. Why don't the troopers arrest them?
If jailed for theft his style of living would improve. So, not a punishment.
How is it possible that no charges were brought against him for theft ?
