    I was looking for a channel showcasing lots of puffers! This channel awesome! If you are ever gonna add to that puffer species count, I've heard spotted Congo puffer are pretty cool and also rare.

      I've heard about those too and if I do find one, I'll definitely look to get it as I hear they are awesome.👍I once saw a Cross River Puffer too. Wishing I would have pursued that one too.

    I like puffers. I'm going back and forth on people first and Amazon puffers. After this video I'm landing on Amazon puffers because I didn't know you could keep them in a group.

      Definitely will after I set up my first planted tank! That will be the next tank! I let snails multiply in my current tank so there will be a constant fresh food source for them.

    I would love some amazon puffers but I'm really nervous to trim any teeth. Do you think that regular feeding of clams will take care of the teeth/beak. I've heard of some people saying the tooth trimming is inevitable. What are your opinions about this.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The would definitely help. My Pea puffers I don't have to worry about and I haven't had to with any of mine thus far. Though at some point I feel like the day will come where I will have to. But that also may never happen. The more hard foods you give the better.
      Clams might be a better option when they are bigger though. Snails, crayfish, and ghost shrimp would also be helpful.

    I have 4 amazons and just witnessed 1 hiding in the sand. Didn't know they'd do that.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe it's just a puffer thing. Mine haven't done that thus far, my Fahaka some times will play around in the sand though.

    Glad I found your channel I have a 65 gallon planted tank that it is now empty and freshly cleaned and recycled and ready to go do you think I can put four or five of them in there.. your life without any issues

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there.👋 I presume your 65 gallon tank (3ft long, 18 in width) If so, Yes, 4 should definitely be good in a 65 gallon tank. 5 should also work but I personally, based off my experiences at least, think that even numbers seem to work better with groups of puffers. There's exceptions across the board though so you could keep 5 with no problems.
      One bit of advice I'd also give is, as you prepare the tank put some pond or pest snails in the tank and let them breed a bit so the puffers have lots of crunchy foods to help trim their teeth.
      Hope you decide to give these little guys a try. 👍

      @@FintasticFreaks thanks for the information . I'll be happy with 4 I've been searching for a while now. No luck . In my area . I'm in the Midwest. . not sure if you know of a quality source for some healthy ones .. lmk tyty ✌️

      @@monkeyboy9896 If Omaha isn't too far away feasible a couple stores sometimes get them in here. Prices vary based on the place. Specifically a store in Bellevue, Nebraska called Fin-tastic Fish, tends to get multiple freshwater puffers in with their shipments.

    Awesome channel! Just subscribed.
    I really want to get this fish in my planted 36 gallon. Do you think I could responsibility get 3 of them in a 36g bowfront or should I just get 1?

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and for the sub! Happy to have you join!
      It could possibly. These guys can grow up to be 5-6 inches but 3 could be ok. I wouldn't do anymore if that is what you plan to have as their forever home.
      The main thing I'd watch for however is, once they get bigger if they have enough space to have enough territory for each other. If they don't, they could get aggressive with each other. It may not come to be an issue, but I'd keep an eye on it just in case.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But more so I wouldn't recommend just 1 of the as this puffer unlike most actually does better with a group.

    • @FostaFunk

      Thanks for the helpful response! I have a 120g occupied tank that may become the new puffer tank in the future as they grow into their size and personality.
      I appreciate the quick response, and look forward to some cool fish content! 👍

    Are they still alive? If not how long did they live for? I can’t find any, and the ones of ive found look terrible so I passed

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I still have three of them. Two of them sadly ended up succumbing to the ick that they had when I got them initially. Amazons supposedly can live up to 8 to even 10 years or so.

  • @tjhtim
    @tjhtim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will a yellow lab mbuna eat a pea puffer?

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it's likely the yellow lab would. While the pea puffers only grow up to an inch to an inch and a half. Yellow Labs can grow up to about 6 inches, thus even an inflated pea puffer would very likely fit in it's mouth at some point.
