    Nicely done. Puffers are one fish I have yet to keep but they are definitely on the list. Currently leaning towards a Figure 8 brackish Puffer but I am also seriously considering the Pea Puffer as well.

      I used to have a figure eight once. Sadly, since it was my first attempt at a brackish tank, it didn't go well. I'll definitely try again some day though. Out of the two though Pea Puffers would the one I'd recommend to start with, but both puffers are awesome.

      I've been wanting a Murphy hat for a while. 😁 Murphy and Aquarium Coop was a big part of how I got into puffers. 🐡

      They, like most of the puffers do love greeting folks at the glass. May have a video coming up on them soon. ;)

    Great video. Thinking about a pea puffer tank. I had one of the spotted puffers from Walmart some years ago. (Wouldn’t have gotten if I knew what I know now) I was very ignorant to puffers when I got it but ended up in its own tank with a pleco. Fed it snails. Was going great until the heater quit. Had great personality and was lots of fun. Just wondering where you get your pea puffers?

      I got my pea puffers from one of my stores here in Omaha. Fish Freaks to be exact.
      Fortunately, pea puffers are probably one of, if not the most common freshwater puffer, so the typically can be found or brought in by most local fish stores.

    Great Video! I know you said no tank mates but does that include bottom dwellers like plecos?

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, pea puffers can be house with certain faster swimming fish, there's just a number of thing to take into account if you do such as how much pea puffers you plan to get, how big the tank is thus also if there will be enough space for the other fish to have their own territory and if the puffers will have their fair share as well.
      To answer you're bottom dweller question. Those in my opinion could be tricky. Some plecos may get too big, and some corydoras don't get out of harms way. (At least mine in a past tank didn't. My pea puffers would nip them and the cory would only move a few inches away thus the puffer would sometimes just keep following the corys around.) That was only my experience though.
      I personally have never tried this, but perhaps if you stayed with a smaller species of pleco( I wouldn't put one in that would grow past 4-5 inches) and provide plenty of caves and nooks for the plecos, things could work out. Id ask around and research though as I could be wrong.

      You could give pygmy corys a try they are pretty fast, i have some in my tank with my 3 amazon puffers, and that seems to be alright for now, only 1 got fin nipped once😉

    Great video, quick question I have a 10 gallon corner tank that I am thinking about putting pea puffers in, if I get all 3 females would that possibly cut back on some aggression? I'm moving my German Blue rams out soon and It's already aqua-scaped with wood and live plants and floating plants so I feel like it would be perfect for them.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sound like a great tank for them. 👍 Having all females can help, but my main this is I just watched how my 3 acted with rach other. Pea puffers typically like to shoal but you could still come across a fiesty one here and there. But even as so, 3 females in a 10 gallon tank, or even if you have a male with 2 females with that aquascape, you shouldn't have too many problems.

    Be prepared to provide live or frozen food for your pea puffers. Snails, baby brine and frozen bloodworms are on their standard menu.

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes. Mine especially love blood worms and brine shrimp, and if they're small enough, mine will go for young ghost shrimp together.

    Do I have to use sand or can I use gravel for my pea puffers

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sand is recommended, as pea puffers are a scaleless fish thus can get scratched or injred easier than some other fish. That said, if the gravel doesn't have any sharp points that could hurt the fish, like pea gravel per say, then gravel still can work.

    I checked at petsmart and no luck....

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      May have to see if there's a family owned fish store near by. At least in my area I tend to see them much more often at family and fish centric stores rather than chain and cooperate stores.

    • @Puertoricoball13
      @Puertoricoball13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there is a store around here in las vegas NV theres this place called Las Vegas aquariums should I check there???!

    • @FintasticFreaks
      @FintasticFreaks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Puertoricoball13 I would. Sometimes if these privately owned stores don't have it, they sometimes will keep an extra eye at for them on order lists. 👍
