I say keep the full time work. Once creators go full time on TH-cam, it becomes a game of playing the algorithm and going for lowest common denominator content. It becomes about views rather than passing valuable info. So many channels put all their eggs in the TH-cam basket and have become unwatchable because they are controlled by the whims of TH-cam. This channel is very good because it isn't beholden to views above all else.
@@YourBlackLocal Even with Patreon and sponsors you're still heavily reliant on the algorithm. Algorithm hates you = no recommendations, no recommendations = no views, no views = no sponsors
One of the biggest draws for me to your channel is the lack of hype and bells-and-whistles. Plain Bagel! It's refreshing to listen to a professional who puts out content to inform and educate the public without an obvious ulterior motive. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Richard for the shoutout! 🙏It was SUCH a pleasure to finally meet you in person! You were a HUGE inspiration for me to start my own channel and I don't think I've missed a video in 7 years! 🙌They say "never meet your heroes" but I've met Richard and I can attest that he's even nicer than he seems online! 😊
Part of why I watch you is because you have a full time job. It makes it feel like your content is much less bloated or sensationalized because you don’t need to rely solely on TH-cam for your income.
Yup, and he's a certified professional that has real-life experience in this industry. He didn't just Google "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and suddenly become an "expert"
Yes, the industry experience and insight can only be obtained being inside the industry itself. A lot of TH-camr once made it full time, they left their main field and became a media professional, losing the essence of what made them interesting to listen to. The only great fulltimers left in this space i can think of are some of th science communicator in STEM field. The reason is, they’re well trained in science, and most importantly science papers are published in full. Not many fields keep you relevant like that. In most fields you can only know what you need to know, so leaving destroys your source of knowledge and information.
This and also it makes for more experience as well. Being surrounded by other professionals is way more helpful than having a channel and doing videos from your home.
Hey Richard, it was great to meet you at the Blossom event in Toronto. I wish we got more time to chat! I'll share my perspective, for what it's worth. When you do TH-cam full time, it does become more of a stressful grind. I was talking to Nate O'Brien, and he said one of the benefits of him leaving TH-cam was that he no longer has the feeling of always needing to make a video, or thinking about the next video. I don't know if you get this feeling, but when I left my job and became a TH-camr full time, I definitely felt/feel it. It makes it challenging to truly enjoy vacations, or even take a break from working. I always feel like I need to have another video in the works, and if I don't I get stressed. Additionally, as you mentioned, TH-cam income is extremely volatile, and you need to play the algorithm. This is why most TH-camrs (myself included), have other sources of income, like a Patreon, a book, or a course. The best TH-cam strategy is to actually not have your TH-cam income be your main source of income, because you have no control over it. I know that courses and books have a very bad reputation from TH-camrs, especially in finance, but I do understand why people make them. (I myself wrote a book and have a Patreon community.) I think you can do these things right, though, and truly add value by doing your best for the people who support you. Anyways, I think I just went on a tangent, but my point is it does turn into a full time job that is more risky, volatile, uncertain, and stressful. It's not for everyone, and it's not easy. You sound extremely happy and comfortable with your job, the amount you post (every 2 weeks), and your work/TH-cam/life balance. So I guess the question for me is, why change it? What are the benefits? What are the pros and cons? It's absolutely incredible what you have achieved and built while working a full time job, and it really seems to be working for you, and it's amazing to watch. I'm not trying to talk you out of it by any means. At the end of the day, you should do what's best for you. I am just sharing my perspective and how becoming a full time TH-camr has felt for me. Don't get me wrong, either. I love it. I love the chaos, making videos, building an audience, having a voice, getting invited to events, etc. There are A LOT of perks, and for me, those perks outweigh all the negatives, which is why I still do it. I have no idea if this will be useful, haha. But there's my perspective. I know you'll make the right choice for you :)
Thanks Daniel - likewise disappointed we didn't have more time to chat! That's definitely the perception I have of it; much like entrepreneurship, full-time TH-cam is high-risk high-reward, and I agree that outside monetization strategies can help and be done responsibly. I am very on board with Patreon-supported content, and I personally love when creators publish books when they aren't on getting rich quick, but yes the space does have a bad reputation. I suppose in a way being a full-time creator often means exploring the idea of being a creator in more than one avenue, which needs to be done with just as much care as your original content, and that's not something I'm crazy about pursuing. A lot comes down to personal preference - I'm glad you're able to thrive in that challenging environment!
I prefer TH-camrs like yourself who have a separate full time job and create videos because they’re genuinely passionate about the subject matter rather than trying to game the algorithm. Hope you keep at it!
Yeah, those that do it full time just rehash the same shit over and over again in a slightly different format they lower the quallity and (not or) go all clickbaity because they need the views to get enough income.
Your integrity is precisely why i watch. If you became a full time TH-camr, i would likely stop. Unless you managed to stay true to yourself and just share information without needing me to support your lifestyle. There lies the path to corruption, and loss of trust. I appreciate that you're a real person with a real job that shares real knowledge and facts without trying to grift me for personal gain. Also you make for great listening while i do physical labor, great voice and delivery. Thanks sir
Only piece of advice I can impart is: Increase your stamina, you are younger than Patrick Boyle so use that to your advantage. You can outwork him in the boxing ring.
“And… sell an e-book or something.” That sincere, honest dedication right there, where you’re not even sure what all the big-money fin-fluencers are doing, is why I have notifications set for this channel.
There is a reason why you are the only finance TH-camr that I watch. I don't want exciting editing, I don't want a guru, I don't want dozens of videos (I'm also a father) - I want a boring, professional, level-headed info.
I'm an accountant and work in finance. This is one of the few good and more importantly accurate channels. Keep it up. PS - I am also Canadian so sorry for the bias :P
A lot of my favorite "content creators" are those that had "real" jobs first because they often seem to be less disconnected than those who became world famous when they were like 20. I appreciate that you don't have the added bias of needing the financial success on TH-cam, so I don't have to be as worried about you being sponsored by something shady like BetterHelp. Keep up the good work, both here and at your day job!
The lack of flashy-ness is one of the reasons I like this channel. In pretty much every field right now, finance included, it feels like there's way too much emphasis on things like marketing, trend-chasing, appeals to emotion, style over substance, etc. Anything just to get clicks, basically. Your part-time information-focused videos have been a breath of fresh air from all that, so if you're happy with your current job, then I see no reason to change it. Keep up the good work!
I think there is no need to publish more. Just because your videos are well balanced and well researched and focusing on the topic at a deeper level, makes me cherish every time you post it. I tend to rewatch your videos twice as the Content you provide is just top notch.
This is why we like you Richard - you've got your head screwed on right. Why chase someone else's perception of a "dream job" as a full time TH-camr when you've already got the actual dream setup: a fulfilling job, an enjoyable hobby that earns you some extra income, and work-life balance. Chasing the algorithm as a full time career leads to perverse incentives and outcomes. Audiences have seen it time and time again on this website. From my audience perspective, I think your content is so high quality, trustworthy, and respectable because you aren't so fully beholden to the algorithm. So keep doing life your way man. That's what drew me here.
I love his intros, where he unexcitedly says "you´re watching the plain bagel". Always in a boring tone, almost like saying this isn´t were neither of us wanted to be this evening. Authenticity is the strength of this man!
I became a registered representative (S7 and 63) in the US after the pandemic. In my customer service role at a few companies the last few years I’ve always referred customers who want to truly learn more about finance to your channel. You do excellent work and I think the fact you work in the industry adds real credence to your videos, (and though I doubt you’d ever do it) and keeps you from saying some of the outlandish stuff that other finance content creators who don’t work in the industry get away with. You’re great, keep up the great work!
Keep the path! Your Channel being free from conflicts of interest through sponsors has lent a lot of credibility and respect to your content that other channels can never replicate, even if it does mean less efficient monetization
The thing that brought me to your channel was the fact that you WEREN'T hocking this stock or that stock. You were bringing up issues and items as to WHY something happened or what was going on with the economy. It was several videos in before I even realized you were in Canada! Good for you! You do your country proud! I just like hearing someone talking finance - not 'buy my stock' like a lot of people do. As a neighbor to the south I look forward to someone who really has an outside view about what is going on down here and around the world and how it may effect me. Don't worry about graphs or flashy animation, Your delivery and the information you provide is enough for me. Best of luck in the future, and remember, nothing is more important than your family (Wife AND Kids).
It’s always important to prioritize what’s important. The fact that you love your job and can do TH-cam as a hobby that makes you money as well is a great blessing! Your content is some of the most level headed on this platform, and I’m glad to see more of it
Honeslty I like the simple editing style. And I do love creators who are professionals who do YT on the side, talking about the area of their expertise. It's an amazing niche, and each one of them is a treat to listen to (including the Plain Bagel!)
A significant part of why I like this channel and watch every video for the last... 4? years. Is that you aren't chasing the trends. When you have something to say I know it's worth listening to. And that's valuable to me because I know there will never be a "chaff" episode.
Thanks for making this video. I went full-time in 2021, and I agree with literally everything you said in this video. I sometimes consider going back to teaching, but I do worry that school districts would be wary to hire a "public figure" if that invites even the slightest bit of controversy.
The longer I am online, the more and more and more I truly appreciate and value the people - like yourself - who post from a perspective outside of internet culture, which has only gotten more insufferable, populist and click driven. What we NEED is anybody who can't "this is not financial advice" their way out of accountability for the blatant financial advice they give, or at least anybody who isn't comfortable with it. I would rather see fewer uploads to accommodate your other obligations than see more posts because you went full-time here.
Good for you Richard, things do change in the financial world and having a front-row seat (i.e. a job) is grounding and fodder for new material in the long run. Really appreciate your perspective and hope you have decades of content ahead of you (along with Mr. Boyle, another one of my favourites). Wishing you and your family all the best. Cheers.
you in a battle with Patrick would OFC be a 'rap' battle. Numbers are hard. Thanks for all you do. Keep yourself happy. We just get the lucky part of watching your work. BTW loved your interview with PMJT. Did not expect that one.
I support whatever decision you make! Your channel has really helped me and I have enjoyed it the last 5 years I have been following you. You're the real deal and your day job keeps you grounded.
You're smart, man. Putting all your eggs in one basket (YT especially) is such a risky idea. And like you said, you have a job you love with a boss who gets you, so there's just no reason to toss that aside to potentially end up doing *more* work in the end. Your channel is fantastic as is.
I'm glad you decided to make this video, it is a good way to let people know how you see and want to use your channel. I always found your channel to be informative and enjoy your presentation style and humor. Looking forward to your next topic, whatever it winds up being.
I can speak to this. I'm a smaller TH-camr, but I asked myself a similar question and came to the same conclusion but with different reasoning. I come from the tech / data science world. I considered 1) go head first into TH-cam or 2) stay the course in tech, trying to grow a career/business the traditional way (for me, it's tech consulting). So, which one of these two paths is more likely to produce a successful, fulfilling career? To me, it's obviously 2). I see *way more* examples of people 10 years ahead doing well taking path 2). For path 1), I see only a handful of literally famous people. That's not what I'd call a wide path that reliably produces happy people. Also, I see virtually no one (except 3Blue1Brown) making a full career out of my style of technical content solely on TH-cam. So I go with 2), and I do 1) in the background. I may only do a few videos a year, but over a decade, I think that'll be enough. IMO, you've made the right choice.
Been watching for a few years, I really appreciate the new style of videos. The point you made about your job working in concert with your TH-cam is especially true; having a finance professional that clearly knows what they're talking about make videos on whatever he wants is all the channel needs. It is refreshing to get a real, unbiased view on whatever topic without feeling like tacky edits or sketchy products are being shoved down my throat. Smart guy in front of a camera talking about stuff he wants to share is an unbeatable formula, love the channel and I always look forward to seeing your videos in my feed.
As someone in the same boat (having a day job, and a much smaller channel!), I also get a lot of fulfillment from my day job and don’t think I’d want to give it up. Not that I’m in the position to do that now (or probably won’t be any time soon!) it’s good to hear your insight on the topic.
In the wake of many youtubers burning out, it's great that you don't want to get there. If you're holding yourself back from posting more then by all means try to, but otherwise keep doing what you're doing! A middle ground could be reducing the hours in your "day job" so you don't burn the candle at both ends as much, and have actual free time.
I spent my 20s doing freelance and contract work. I started a US sole proprietorship business. I hustled like crazy through the pandemic. In my early 30s I went back to school. My reasoning being that if I was trying to learn to run a business and compete as an individual, I would likely have better success applying the same skills to a professional job at an established firm. I'm now working downtown in a major American city with a bunch of talented young people in their early 20s. Everyone has been patient and supportive. There is a lot to be said for working in a professional community. Having work-life balance. Having institutional resources. Having people to rely on when you need a break or have an emergency. You make great content. Your finance background also probably helps you realize that being successful at youtube is going to be based on luck even if you personally make great content. Your business background probably helps you understand that youtube is a revenue stream, not a career. Great video and I hope it has broader appeal for younger people who are looking for the quick cash and social cache that comes from doing youtube. It isn't a substitute for a real career.
The reason I watch your channel is because you’ve earned my trust by working legitimately and using that knowledge to be real. Please keep it up and I’ll keep watching!
My partner and I create TH-cam channels for Npos and associations. Building on solid knowledge and experience makes for great content, not just in finance. But as a CPA myself, there are few channels I watch - I like the plain bagel because I know you’re still in the mix with the day job. Adds credibility IMO. The internets need a lot more like you!! Also, appreciate the Canadian-ness. Hello from Banff.
Great point about not knowing how long the TH-cam gravy train will keep running. Doing TH-cam full-time is a more precarious position than is often acknowledged.
Another youtuber i follow (non finance with 100,000+ viewers had to fight to get his channel back due to algorithm change. Took a week but he is back. Only problem is his views have dropped to a fraction of what it was before.
One of the things that makes your channel more relevant for me is that you actually work in the industry, and I hate to put it this way, but not just some guy with a TH-cam channel. So I feel this keeps you better informed and makes your information more credible. Which is exactly what I am looking for.
Love this. People with FT jobs and then make TH-cam their full-time job inevitably comprise: they have to. Full-time job and then share/give back to the world on social media allows you to offer way more, makes you a legitimate/credible authority, makes you well-rounded, and you make the world a better place.
Im glad you can achieve such balance in your life. Keep up the great work on the channel and dont ever feel bad with a slower release schedule, it really does make your content feel more like a treat instead of the absolute deluge that other full time creators get forced into.
You’re one of the few creators in the finance space I fully trust. Keep doing what you’re doing at the pace you are comfortable with. Thank you for making your content. All the best to you and the channel!
Your channel makes 2 types of videos 1. This is how markets or a specific investing tool works 2. Market current events and industry accepted investing principles and analysis I love both styles. Seems like the how markets work videos require more animation. I would never want you to burn out doing the how markets work type of videos (that require more animation) to sacrifice the honest expert analysis of current speculative events in comparison to industry standards. Those are like a gold nugget in a cropfield for any investing content. So glad you are focusing on sustainability. Love the content and thanks for helping me and others invest consistently and efficiently
I love that you have a seperate full time job as the content you put out is more authentic and true to what you actually want to put out vs what you feel you should put out. I feel many people put out an overwhelming amount of content
Long time viewer here. Keep your job. Like you said, there's a lot of synergy with it, but I would also add that the fact that you're able to stay authentic without having to worry about TH-cam monetization is probably the greatest thing that makes your channel stand out, we notice it. Oh, and the release rate is fine, I would wager most people don't like to have to binge-watch and sift through dozens of irrelevant videos just to find the relevant ones.
Reason number one seals it. If you find what you’re doing now fulfilling and satisfying, then keep doing that. Diversification is key, and you have that right now, and it sounds like your employer is pretty cool. If you close off your employment and go full time TH-cam, you’re upping your concentration risk. On top of that, the “hobby” aspect that makes TH-cam enjoyable will go away once your dependence on it grows. You’re your own person, of course, so not only do you get to do whatever makes you happy, but you might not go the same path as everyone else who’s taken the full time TH-cam route. This is good, because most channels that get big and have a big following on the way up because they’re genuine and interesting and their content is enjoyable, quickly become insufferable when they go TH-cam all the time, because they need more content, thus increasing the quantity of posts, which nearly guarantees a decline in quality, plus the habits you need to do to up your engagement and income levels to make the full time shift worth it. You do you my man, but from the sounds of your own words, you’re (currently anyways) sitting in the sweet spot. Both for you and your fan base.
Been watching your content for a while, and for context, I watch Perun videos. Literally PowerPoint presentation style videos. I think a lot of people listen to TH-cam more than they're watching. The style change hasn't bothered me at all. And I'm a dad who also works 76 hour weeks, I get it. I'm certain the content is more important to your type of viewers than the animation.
I don't know if anyone has or will make this point (I'm not going to read all 242 and counting comments to find out), but I do want you to know that you have (unintentionally?) created a channel that has great appeal to senior citizens. I am not a flashy person, and I suspect others in my generation are not into all the click bait and other means whereby content creators strive to grow clicks. You are straightforward, easy to understand, transparent, and well informed. I search for channels such as yours - they are few and far between. Stay right where you are, don't let TH-cam burn you out, spend that time with the boys, and thanks for your channel.
Keep doing what your doing! The reason I love your content is BECAUSE you can tell you’re not chasing the algorithm, and your videos reflects that. Not the case with so many others in this space, whose “education” has taken a back seat to marketing and chasing views.
As a long term viewer, I would say you have 'matured' Richard. I think you have made the right decision; as someone who watched your videos as an amateur 30 year old investing personally for the first time, through to having being bitten by the bug so much I retrained, and now have been advising retail clients for 18 month. I've learnt so much from you, and ultimately, I trusted what you were saying because you didn't need to say something dramatic to sell me something or keep me coming back for more. Your understated style is a reflection of your impartiality, and I thank you for it. Much love from the UK. JB
Put me in as another vote for you keeping your full-time job. What I like about this channel is the lack of having to play the algorithm, engage in clickbait, create filler content, and so on. It feels more authentic and accurate than most finance youtubers as a result.
I see financial full time youtuber that post 2 to 3 videos per week seems to be re-hashing always the same content... I tend to tune out of those channels because the quality seems to suffer. If I were you I would keep your job, especially if you still enjoy it.
Long term viewer here, and I think you're one of my favourite TH-camrs. Happy to hear you enjoy making these videos, and you have a good spot for them in your life :) As for the animation style, I'm just here for your opinions and insight, doesn't really matter how it is presented :)
This here is that rare breed... A happy employee! Good for him! As an employer I am thankful for this outlook. Do a great job and also have your bit on the side. Good job!
TH-cam pays decently well and I think I could make more money (inclusive of covering the lost income from my job) if I did it full time, but to the second point that's definitely a consideration.
@@connorferguson2269TH-cam pays amazing. Even surreal at this size. Especially when you take sponsorships (especially more shady ones). So I really love that plain bagel is doing it out of passion and no bullsh1t! That’s why I love his work
I honestly do miss your animations. They were charming. I don't think they were crap. But I do understand and respect that they are very time consuming, and that your current editing style fits best with your life-balance rn (btw, i like your current edit style too) love your content, proud to be a fan. cant wait to see what you have in story for the channel in the future.
I love a channel that posts for the joy of posting and making good content. No bloat, no nonsense, just good stuff. I celebrate you keeping your day job, because a lot of creators’ content suffers when they switch to full time TH-cam.
Love the work, and the content has aged like a fine wine. It has really matured, and it's instructive without being too dry. Really just an overall great channel.
Still having your day job also gives you credibility. Those who don't still work in the field give the impression that they couldn't make it in the field or never loved finance. For someone not into finance (but still likes to know what is going on in the world) animations help visualize and comprehend the subject or listen more actively (because of the ADHD)
Do it as much as you enjoy doing it. The same goes for your regular job. You have options, and the freedom to explore them as you will. We're all happy for you, and we'll support your play.
way to go. Those are 4 excellent reasons. I've been watching your channel since before 2020. I do miss the animations sometimes, but i love that you don't seem algorithms driven. You genuinely seem to want to make videos about the subjects you pick. YOU'RE THE PLAIN BAGEL. if I want cream cheese, I know where to get it. but you deliver excellent plain bagels every time. You're a responsible Father, Professional, and that shows in how you manage your channel. keep it up.
I recently started watching your channel as I am a 28 year old Canadian with a 1 year old child and just bought my first house in 2023. I feel like I need to know a lot more than I currently do about finance, and you are our guy on the inside who is feeding us the information. I really appreciate your videos and how they make daunting financial topics seem more approachable. THANK YOU!
The animations help me when the topics are more complex but most of the time I am just listening to your videos while doing other things at the same time. :) thank you!! Really great work!
Your explanations, pro's and con's were simple, rational and crystal clear as always. Only thing I personally keep as guideline: keep a proper work life balance. Protect yourself from a burnout etc. Keep up doing a great job with the channel.
Just follow your heart, because you're cool level-headed type of guy , you don't need extra advice, just more action , trials and failures and see what works for your expansion , I personally like you hiring an editor if you can, having and building a good team without haste it's good business
I've been watching you for years and can only say I've loved your content at every point. The format almost doesn't matter, you do a great job of presenting the information in an understandable way regardless
All valid points. Having the stability of a full-time job alongside the channel seems like the best of both worlds. They complement each other well. And this is unrelated, but if you do hire an editor, tell them to keep playing the dark ominous music you use when talking about BlackRock and similar companies. It's my favorite part of those videos.
not a long term viewer, or someone who usually watches finance videos - but I want to say, I really, really loved this video. this was my first introduction to your channel and it's really refreshing and encouraging to see this perspective. thanks so much for posting it!
Keep doing what and how you are doing it. People like the way you do things, people like you and your honesty, so just keep it up, no need to change anything. Really looking forward to the boxing fight!
I've followed you for about 4 years now and I like that you don't saturate your channel with too many videos. You're not just trying to scrape for content. You're actually one of the last few TH-cam finance channels that I still watch 4 years later.
Without having listened to your 4 reasons yet: I love it. „Professional“ TH-camrs tend to have that smell of desperation on them. Good on you for maintaining a real job, it makes you way more credible.
Hi Richard! I've been watching and getting inspired from your videos for past many years. When you are in a full time job (and hold hard-earned certifications related to your field), the kind of content you put out there always accounts for the reputation you have as a professional/ full-time employee and it clearly reflects in your content vis-à-vis of those who earn their living through content creation only. However, you look to me like a person (and there are not many of them online) who'll hold on to the values even if you go for a full-time content creation career. Love you for what you do and how you do it!

Most full time TH-camrs, make far more from Patreon and sponsors, which allows them to not rely so heavily on the algorithm.

I agree with this.
Thanks sir
Only piece of advice I can impart is:
Increase your stamina, you are younger than Patrick Boyle so use that to your advantage. You can outwork him in the boxing ring.
Patrick Boyle never fails to put me to sleep.
That's too funny...
@@MirzaAhmed89 : an excellent strategy. Plus, you know he'll notice because he never blinks.
and the expansion of your vocabulary and use a rhyming dictionary FFS. Patty has YEARS of rap experience.

A Bogle style finance TH-camr 😎
Try Ben Felix's Common Sense Investing. Another excellent finance channel.
Exactly! Please keep your day job! ❤
Keep up the good work!
cant wait for the beef between the biggest finance TH-camr and the biggest rap TH-camr to get physical
I'm all fired up for the upcoming diss track.
Take all my money!
Appreciate the "one video every 2 weeks" schedule. It's great in the "if everything is important to know, nothing is important to know" sense
Waiting to see Patty Boyle’s response to this spicy bagels callout
Really hoping that this becomes a new running gag between the channels
Boyle's channel is rap channel covering latest and greatest news in it he doesn't see finance
My money is on Patrick.
Look down
He did reply. in the affirmative.
Quote: 'It's on.'
My takeaway: “I like money”
Got it Richard 👍
Love your work dude full or part time.
Your 'refined' editing style is appreciated. I watch your videos to activate the knowledge part of my brain, not the flashy lights part of my brain.
Nicely said!
His old videos were great for use in schools though
I love his intros, where he unexcitedly says "you´re watching the plain bagel". Always in a boring tone, almost like saying this isn´t were neither of us wanted to be this evening.
Authenticity is the strength of this man!
Keep doing what feels right: what you're passionate about is always the right play (in life, in general).
Keep doing what you are doing!
I agree that you being in the industry helps keep the quality high.
Thanks for being rad
You're plain bagel, not everything bagel.
Thanks Richard for always providing amazing content
It’s always important to prioritize what’s important. The fact that you love your job and can do TH-cam as a hobby that makes you money as well is a great blessing! Your content is some of the most level headed on this platform, and I’m glad to see more of it
Honeslty I like the simple editing style.
And I do love creators who are professionals who do YT on the side, talking about the area of their expertise. It's an amazing niche, and each one of them is a treat to listen to (including the Plain Bagel!)
I love when creators produce content that is almost entirely a passion project. It’s whatever the opposite of a sell out is.
Agreed. I was just thinking that the creators of all my favourite channels have day jobs.
A buyin? 😀
I sometimes consider going back to teaching, but I do worry that school districts would be wary to hire a "public figure" if that invites even the slightest bit of controversy.
it’s fine, we get it… 2x the income = 2x the lambos in the garage
Hidden fifth reason yes
I mean every one has to have a side hustle and passive income to be rich obviously.
Being authentic and sincere is the main thing i like about you vs others, so keep doing what you're doing on your own terms man!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the channel and the no-fluff explanations of concepts that would be otherwise impenetrable.
Cheers.
Richard, you do you. Keep your job. The channel is great, as it is. All the best.
you in a battle with Patrick would OFC be a 'rap' battle.
Real recognizes real
Cause not everyone needs to be a full time content creator, plus if its a great job, it keeps you up to date with things
The reason I watch your channel is because you’ve earned my trust by working legitimately and using that knowledge to be real. Please keep it up and I’ll keep watching!
I do miss the animations, but the content is always solid 👍🏽
Yeah bring back the animation from time to time at least, it's helpful when the content is less discussion and more informative to show to others also
My partner and I create TH-cam channels for Npos and associations.
Your ethic and integrity are the reason your are the only finance channel I am subscribed to. I will keep watching as long as you keep those!
Be very, very careful fully trusting anyone. Don’t trust me, OP, or anyone.
Your channel makes 2 types of videos
1. This is how markets or a specific investing tool works
2. Market current events and industry accepted investing principles and analysis
I love both styles.
You’re almost a million!!! Congrats bro. You deserve it. God bless
Looking forward to the Royal Roil with Boyle!
I just listen to your videos as a podcast so I didn’t even know you stopped doing the small animations
Good point, I hear from a lot of viewers that they just listen in
Keep doing what your doing! The reason I love your content is BECAUSE you can tell you’re not chasing the algorithm, and your videos reflects that. Not the case with so many others in this space, whose “education” has taken a back seat to marketing and chasing views.
Bagel v Boyle, let's make the Clash of Finance Nerds happen! 😂
I like that you are not full time on TH-cam and not forcing content. I really appreciate your unbiasedness and meticulousness. God bless you Brother!
Love your stuff boss :')
This here is that rare breed... A happy employee! Good for him!
As an employer I am thankful for this outlook. Do a great job and also have your bit on the side.
Good job!
because yt doesn't pay that's why, also after/if you lose popularity you won't be out of the game
TH-cam pays decently well and I think I could make more money (inclusive of covering the lost income from my job) if I did it full time, but to the second point that's definitely a consideration.

A clear, no strings attached comment and jokes. My money is on the bagel!
as a subscriber from India, this is partly the reason i watch you.
I honestly do miss your animations. They were charming. I don't think they were crap.
But I do understand and respect that they are very time consuming, and that your current editing style fits best with your life-balance rn (btw, i like your current edit style too)
love your content, proud to be a fan.
cant wait to see what you have in story for the channel in the future.
I subscribed to so many finance channels during the pandemic but you are one of the few ones I still follow.
Don't ever stop making videos on TH-cam! You're one of the most important channels here! 😊
