I really love your content and the format you have currently adopted. The delivery feels like a conversation with a bro who is where you want to be and more. I love it. The education is just there in the words, in the scenes and everything in between. You are at liberty to grab onto it or not. Either way it is just a seasoned professional talking about something that brings him joy and you can be present or not. No pressure.
Working part-time is the perfect balance. Being a content creator gives you a sense of relief with the knowledge that you can walk out of a job that you hate at any moment and be perfectly fine. Working the job relieves the pressure of the 24/7 content creator grind. Finding balance is the key to peace in life.
I agree. Always make some guaranteed money in case things in your business go sour. For every good month, there is always a month when clients won't pay.

I don’t think being a full time content creator is for everyone and I don’t think ppl understand how “you are in fact a true entrepreneur” so you gotta get up everyday and produce at the need of getting paid. When I go to my 9-5 I can slack here there, take off for a week or so and still get a guaranteed check.
Agreed. I just wish there were more decently paid part time jobs as most are minimum wage. The assumption in a lot of companies and organisations is that if you want a decent job then it must be for 40 hours a week.
Even when i worked my 9-5, my mind was always creating ideas. Always being creative. Either for my 9-5 job, for a little hobby of mine to helping someone out for their project. If your a creative person, whether you work at a corporate 9-5 or creative job. Your mind is always going to be thinking of things.
I’m always thinking of how I can market a product. I started my online smoke shop with my wife last year and the amount of people that think we do professional marketing is awesome. We constantly go to the mall and look at ads around and while we look around I’ll design our new ad before we leave. I love every aspect of it lol
9-5 is the very thing that's slowly killing your creativity. One day, your 9-5 gets so tiring that you can't do anything anymore and you just give up on everything. It's a death sentence for creative people. It helps us survive, but prevents us from living.
This young man made so much sense to me. I'm probably old enough to be his granny, and I Started my channel just two years ago. I was creative long before there was TH-cam or Google, well even before cell phones and lap tops😅. I enjoy my own content that I create, regardless of likes and subscribers! Love this. I shot professionally full-time for 2 years before I realized it wasn't for me. Now, I work full-time, shoot on the side, but mostly shoot exclusively for non-profits or low income individuals. For me, shooting professionally took the love out of it. It became a job. Plus, the uncertainty of a steady cheque is real. I'm much happier now and I still shoot but only for passion projects. Great video.
That makes ALOT of sense, you get to still do it and make money but it’s just for pure joy and connections. It’s good that you went out and tried it on your own too so you have that experience.
Same im a seasonal professional, weddings events. I like working for other companies and not having panic attacks over clients post event lol. There is a huge pay cut but that stress would kill me for weeks and months and even on my 1 week vacation from my slave office job, id be editing photos for wedding clients. I tried outsourcing but it never worked well and i end up wasting my money and doing the job myself from the beginning. I do want to work less though at office job and be able to work remote so i can travel and enjoy my marriage ans life. We are international, so stuck apart. Maybe ill have to wait 1 more year to see him after not seeing him 5 years 🙄. Because office slavery... 1 "vacation " a year.. Pandemic fkd lots of things up including the gig work that let me travel and be with him and come back to having a gig job lol. The gig work was less stable, it was hard physically, but it let me feel free in other waya like 3 months in europe... but i was broke lol. That was the tradeoff. It is good and bad working 9 to 5, but I'd like a mix of both...... and less of both lol The pandemic destroyed weddings and events so thats where office, completely different industry, was good.... But mainly freedom , enjoyment of life, and peace. Whatever can help me achieve that.
Wow this is a really great video. Full time content creation is the biggest blessing but also most destructive job you can really have. It takes a lot of sacrifices and the rat race can be exhausting

You get a big following, you grow your other social medias, you collect sponsorship money, you push out your own product, and if you're big enough the guidelines hardly apply to you(logan Paul forest incident). It's common practice for youtubers specifically to tell their followers to go to their patron. Sneako got banned from TH-cam. Took his followers somewhere else.
I worked at Old Navy as a cashier when I was high school. It had just opened. One week after I started, my manager hands me a scrubber and paper towels - no gloves- and tells me to clean the toilets. I was the youngest person working there. I went back to see what the bathroom sit was. It was nasty then a mug! I could not do it. I went back to the register and called my ride, aka my mama. A minute later my mom knocks on the glass door and tells my manger “your cheap a** needs to hire a janitor. Send my daughter out right now.” 😅 I didn’t work there very long.
Man this hit hard. So happy I found this. I'm 36 year old, with a wife and two kids. I jumped on the opportunity after a few years of doing this on the side so I've been doing full time music-videos (metal/rock) for the past year in Denmark. It's been amazing with the free reign on my calender, especially since I have two small kids, but financially it was just so unstable so now i got a great paying job as a physio (i'm trained) 30 hours a week, and I can get paid every month, no stress, and just take in the jobs I want to do for passion. Sooo much better for me.
This is relatable. I’ve been creating content for over 15 years and I’ve been through it.. but I stopped focusing on views a long time ago and started focusing more on impact. I’ve been full time for 7 years now. I’m at a point now where I no longer need to create content to pay my bills. Diversifying your income is everything. I’m so glad you mentioned it in this video. I did an english/philosophy degree and wanted to be a tv writer/ improviser for ever. Then after 5 years of working over 50 hrs a week at one of the busiest restaurants in london at the time for less that the london living wage, I realized that society values some professions more than others because of how essential they are for life to go on. Engineers, lawyers, tradespeople and scientists will always be needed. Not only is entertainment in any form is essentially discretionary spending but more people want to be artists/entertainers because of the glamorous image so it will always be a harder graft. So I abandoned my writing dream to be a software developer which has been super fulfilling and I still have time and peace of mind to practice my art
similar story with me but music. Wanted so badly to play guitar or bass in a death metal band. I practiced extremely hard. The reality is that its not a lucrative field, and that genre even less so. Tons of touring well known bands barely scraping by. Out of school i got into IT and stayed. That was 6 years before covid. IT people thrived during covid because of remote work, the music and creative industries got hit HARD. like really hard. I'm glad I made the decision I made.
lots of engineering jobs get outsourced and will eventually be downsized due to AI the grass isnt always greener. and i say this as a professional software developer.
As a freelance dancer/choreographer moving into content creation this is very true about the financial instability. I’m going back to working full time in September (cuz I used to work in schools) I need something stable to support my family and support my life style. Can’t buy camera equipment with no money. I’m too grown 😂. Love your channel fam- keep sharing.
I left the industry after COVID but good luck to you. Stability is really everything in this field and especially how injury prone it is one medical bill without insurance can close the curtain. Take care of yourself first and keep going. It'll all work out.
Your filmmaking skills are so incredibly solid. Based on this video alone, you could absolutely make some short independent movies that would be great to watch. Your shot compositions, shot clarity, audio and lighting… it’s all there. Finding a team of reliable people to work with can be a hassle, yes, but if you can find a few, I’m sure you could put together some great looking projects. Keep doing your thing.
Love the honesty. I'm one of those that worked as a freelance creator for 5+ years, but have since gone back to a regular salary. The salary is great, the health and medical benefits are amazing and it's in a photo/video field which I like. I put my freelance stuff on the backburner and work them part time and weekends for extra cash. Grinded for 5 years, but with inflation I just wasn't making enough to pay all of the bills and put towards my retirement anymore. I'm 37, and I needed the financial security. I don't feel bad or ashamed for going back to a salary and I'm glad I spent those 5 years building a work ethic and knowledge that led to the new job. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be my own boss and make the money I make now with the salary, but my future is more important than my current desires. To each their own.

The angles you used for the basketball shots were spot-on, and your ability to extend your rising is remarkable. The wet shot you took was also impressive. The car shot, in particular, was well done, as the angle made it appear as though you were talking to someone inside the car. I noticed that the audio quality improved significantly after you worked on it. The car video was one of my favorites, but the basketball shots were outstanding. The shot with the fog was stunning, and it could easily be used as a postcard. Your composition skills are excellent, and the addition of the bench and trees in the background was a nice touch. Overall, you did a great job, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

This is one of the most genuine, real, not sugar coating content creator’s videos that I have ever seen. For the avg person content like this is needed. The balance that you talk about hits home with me. I have a son that I do not want to miss his games or being with my family. So it’s good to hear that it’s not as easy as people may think or focus on views to make money bc that’s not the play.

I think the lure of being a full time creator is unmatched in this current time in society. People only focus on the positives of what it can bring but you can only witness what downsides it brings when you actually live it day to day. The grind is absolutely real though and it’s much tougher than it looks. 6 years in and it’s crazy to keep up at the pace it’s at. It’s moving quicker than most people can catch up to and new levels are hit daily. I learned that not comparing myself to others and learning to balance family and content is the absolute key to success as a full time creator. There will always be someone better than you so go at your own unique pace. Great video and format.
This is the first video I have seen by you, and I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by your cinematography and storytelling. You have amazing energy as well 😄 At 14:00, when you asked what our first job was, you made me think about something I haven't thought about in years! I am graduating from Yale this spring as the first doctor in my family. Like you, I grew up watching my mom work extremely hard, and I always wished my parents could come to my school events, but they were always working. I say all of that because I am in the process of deciding what I want out of a career after graduation. I am both an artist and an academic, so the choice hasn't been easy. I don't want to deny any part of who I am in the process. I don't have kids yet, but when I do, I want to be present for them and not be consumed with work. There is still a lot to process from this video, but I would just like to say that I am very grateful that you found the motivation to film and upload it. You definitely have a new fan! 🙏

When I was 12 or 13 I worked for my Dad - an aviation entrepreneur - over the Summer. My job was to sand the bellies of airplanes that were going to be painted. I was terrible at it. I had a terrible attitude about it. I remember my Dad telling me -half joking/half not that I was a terrible employee so I had better figure out what kind of business I was going to own. I think about it all the time. 30 years later, I've owned companies in multiple industries. I really struggle to imagine my life any other way. I even spent a couple of years at University of Central Florida as an adjunct professor where I created and taught a course on entrepreneurship. My goal with that course was to really expose my students to what the entrepreneurial life can look like, the good, the bad, and the reality. My focus was on bringing in entrepreneurs to share their stories. At the beginning of each semester, I would survey my students to get an idea as to the types of industries they thought they were interested in pursuing. One semester I had multiple students interested in chasing their dreams in the music industry as performers, so I brought in a local rapper to shed some light on his journey.
I've been full time for the past few years, and I appreciate this. It's hectic, but being able to watch my daughter and son grow up has been something I never imagined.

I think right now we are going through an evolution with TH-cam. We're seeing a lot of the last generation of creators slowly fading away as their viewership drops. The reality is that most of the successful verticals on YT have become oversaturated with creators trying to pull the same success as the OG creators. This is an exciting time where new creators will have there opportunity to do something new or different and stand out against the crowd. I agree with the part of being there for your children. One of the reasons I made the decision to leave the traditional work force is for my kid. As a single mother it wasn’t easy but I want to create to inspire when like me who, aren’t necessarily chasing the boss girl life but being the best parent and whatever that looks like.

The video reminded me of back in the day; where many carried a 35 milimeter camera everywhere. We were always on the alert for candid shots, a lost art, with all the posing and angleing for " the perfect shot" now a days. You are a gifted young man in tune with your creativity. After finally going full time as a portrait and wedding photographer 4 years ago I’m back part time at a job I had in college 😂. It’s a really chill job honestly with people I know well, but it was definitely an ego hit. I’m struggling with the idea that I can make what I make in 4 days at this job with one portrait session, but some parts of the year like this one bookings are getting a little too rare and I can pay almost all of my bills with just this part time job. while this slow time is frustrating, having some guaranteed income has definitely taken pressure off my creative work and allowed me to think more clearly about it. The idea to actually do a project just for me crossed my mind for the first time in a while. 😅 Multiple sources of income is never bad, even if it's not what you expected. Do what you gotta do and make the most of everything. Great video man.
In the same situation but that guaranteed check during the slow periods alleviates so much stress and is definitely a blessing. What motivates me is thinking about the good seasons when you’re getting the part time check and the income from your business.
I appreciate your perspective on having a traditional job. Although my heart isn't in my traditional job, I've found a system on how to create over the years that helps me balance. Music has always been a huge part of what I do. It doesn't bring ME enough money to pursue full-time but it does afford me a sense of identity and freedom of creativity. Your videos are inspiring as well as educational. I am a huge fan of learning and I am going to use the techniques that I've learned from you to shoot my own music video. Thanks for leading the way! This is a great take. I've spent 15+ years involved in making music and taking pictures. I've never made enough money to do either full time, always held down a 9 to 5. I feed myself with my day job, take my sense of self from my creative output. Not for everyone, but the balance of the two gives me everything I want.

Your favorite shot was also my favorite shot! That wet platform was so mirror smooth that for a second i thought you had walked out on a frozen lake. Aside from that, as a fellow (part-time) creator I wanted to humbly offer some feedback--your writing and delivery, composition and pacing for this video was great. Very authentic vibe and you told a lot of backstory with relatively few words. Showing your previous jobs while talking about them and then transitioning into your commentary on the creator economy was just so well done. My only critique is that the transition 1/3rd of the way through into a BTS and commentary on the video you just showed viewers felt unexpected and wasn't part of the thumbnail/title promise, which probably impacts retention and maybe how far this video gets recommended. Have you considered wrapping with a CTA to a separate BTS video for the people who got to the end and want to see more? I think that approach could maximize your reach on the story and still give the BTS deep-dive to the people who would've stuck around for it. Honestly, you crushed it with this one: I could see the story 1/3rd of this one getting well into the 6 figure mark if uploaded alone, it's just such a strong setup, hook, and delivery. Well done, dude! 👏

I been kinda over thinking things even though my goal was to just be simple and grow from there! You provided a lot of perspective fam! I definitely been watching for a minute, back in the days you and Ryan was dropping music videos all the time. Keep it up fam!🙏🏾 Oh and Audio is my weakness too so I get it lol!
One small piece of advice that I disagree with: You ARE in-control of your success as a content creator, someone self-employed, etc. The misconception for allot of people is that if they just do XYZ, and then get lucky, they'll blow up. A plan dependent on luck is a bad plan. If you're a content creator, you have to find out how to be the best at your craft. One video a day, or one video a week, just might not cut it. In the self-employed grind, there isn't really a work-life balance. Its really grinding non-stop, you kill what you eat, so you plan to kill 24/7. People tend to DREAM of the idea of working when they want, raking in money, etc. For some, sure, it is lucky like that, they're talentless hacks raking in millions of dollars, but for many, its grinding non-stop for years, perfecting your craft, and being the best at what you do. There is a reason Mr Beast is #1. Sure, he got lucky too, but his endless grind, constant revisions, addiction to being the best, constant re-investment into his business. etc, is what truly got him there. 99% of people in his shoes would not do what he would do, and therefore they don't have his success. The guy who blows up as an 'overnight success' has typically put in 5-10 years behind the scenes before they ever got noticed.
Street performing for years taught me alot about how not only to capture an audience but to KEEP an audience. Transition that same approach into my filmmaking has worked well but I still learn constantly. Thats a crucial part.

REALLY glad the algorithm served me this video! My favorite shot was when all those birds flew over you at the lake, that was gold! I have an old Canon 5Dmkii, but I'm not using it because I don't have the tripod anymore and I'm just barely learning editing so I find it's easier to just learn the ropes on my phone right now, but I like this combo of cinematography and then Vlog style. I am not technically a creator on YT full time, but I do own a business and left my government job to start that business full time and I love it! It would take a lot for me to go back to doing the 9-5 thing! 4:37 something for salaried workers, particularly in senior positions is this upside of full time employment can cease to exist. There’s nothing to protect you from a slack message at 9:30 on a Saturday night to let you know something is now your problem and you better snap to to avoid the underside of a bus. One thing I now appreciate at a full time content creator is having no one in my life who can make me come into work (virtually) on a Saturday night
This right here for me as well. I was working a job in tech that was more or less 24x7 for years. Getting laid off and taking some time to collect myself and refocus helped me realize that my time is worth more than I was making based on how much I was giving up. I'm working on content creation and a degree now so that I can change fields if I do have to get back into salaried life.
I used to just stay broke bc I didn’t want a 9-5 but now that I do, all of my content is how it should be. I don’t take short cuts for money bc I have some. Praise God🙌

This administration is putting many families in difficult situations. A lot of people are financially struggling to live, put a roof over their head and put food on the table. Things are getting worse these days, if you don't find means of multiplying your money you might wake up a day to realize you didn't plan well for yourself and family.

Working part-time is the perfect balance. Being a content creator gives you a sense of relief with the knowledge that you can walk out of a job that you hate at any moment and be perfectly fine. Working the job relieves the pressure of the 24/7 content creator grind. Finding balance is the key to peace in life.
I agree. Always make some guaranteed money in case things in your business go sour. For every good month, there is always a month when clients won't pay.

I don’t think being a full time content creator is for everyone and I don’t think ppl understand how “you are in fact a true entrepreneur” so you gotta get up everyday and produce at the need of getting paid. When I go to my 9-5 I can slack here there, take off for a week or so and still get a guaranteed check.

I’m always thinking of how I can market a product. I started my online smoke shop with my wife last year and the amount of people that think we do professional marketing is awesome. We constantly go to the mall and look at ads around and while we look around I’ll design our new ad before we leave. I love every aspect of it lol
9-5 is the very thing that's slowly killing your creativity. One day, your 9-5 gets so tiring that you can't do anything anymore and you just give up on everything. It's a death sentence for creative people. It helps us survive, but prevents us from living.

Love this. I shot professionally full-time for 2 years before I realized it wasn't for me. Now, I work full-time, shoot on the side, but mostly shoot exclusively for non-profits or low income individuals. For me, shooting professionally took the love out of it. It became a job. Plus, the uncertainty of a steady cheque is real. I'm much happier now and I still shoot but only for passion projects. Great video.

I like working for other companies and not having panic attacks over clients post event lol. There is a huge pay cut but that stress would kill me for weeks and months and even on my 1 week vacation from my slave office job, id be editing photos for wedding clients. I tried outsourcing but it never worked well and i end up wasting my money and doing the job myself from the beginning.
I do want to work less though at office job and be able to work remote so i can travel and enjoy my marriage ans life. We are international, so stuck apart. Maybe ill have to wait 1 more year to see him after not seeing him 5 years 🙄. Because office slavery... 1 "vacation " a year.. Pandemic fkd lots of things up including the gig work that let me travel and be with him and come back to having a gig job lol. The gig work was less stable, it was hard physically, but it let me feel free in other waya like 3 months in europe... but i was broke lol. That was the tradeoff.
It is good and bad working 9 to 5, but I'd like a mix of both...... and less of both lol
The pandemic destroyed weddings and events so thats where office, completely different industry, was good....
But mainly freedom , enjoyment of life, and peace. Whatever can help me achieve that.

You get a big following, you grow your other social medias, you collect sponsorship money, you push out your own product, and if you're big enough the guidelines hardly apply to you(logan Paul forest incident). It's common practice for youtubers specifically to tell their followers to go to their patron. Sneako got banned from TH-cam. Took his followers somewhere else.
I worked at Old Navy as a cashier when I was high school. It had just opened. One week after I started, my manager hands me a scrubber and paper towels - no gloves- and tells me to clean the toilets. I was the youngest person working there.
I went back to see what the bathroom sit was. It was nasty then a mug! I could not do it.
I went back to the register and called my ride, aka my mama. A minute later my mom knocks on the glass door and tells my manger “your cheap a** needs to hire a janitor. Send my daughter out right now.” 😅 I didn’t work there very long.

Man this hit hard. So happy I found this. I'm 36 year old, with a wife and two kids. I jumped on the opportunity after a few years of doing this on the side so I've been doing full time music-videos (metal/rock) for the past year in Denmark. It's been amazing with the free reign on my calender, especially since I have two small kids, but financially it was just so unstable so now i got a great paying job as a physio (i'm trained) 30 hours a week, and I can get paid every month, no stress, and just take in the jobs I want to do for passion. Sooo much better for me.
This is relatable. I’ve been creating content for over 15 years and I’ve been through it.. but I stopped focusing on views a long time ago and started focusing more on impact. I’ve been full time for 7 years now. I’m at a point now where I no longer need to create content to pay my bills. Diversifying your income is everything. I’m so glad you mentioned it in this video. I did an english/philosophy degree and wanted to be a tv writer/ improviser for ever. Then after 5 years of working over 50 hrs a week at one of the busiest restaurants in london at the time for less that the london living wage, I realized that society values some professions more than others because of how essential they are for life to go on.
Engineers, lawyers, tradespeople and scientists will always be needed. Not only is entertainment in any form is essentially discretionary spending but more people want to be artists/entertainers because of the glamorous image so it will always be a harder graft.
So I abandoned my writing dream to be a software developer which has been super fulfilling and I still have time and peace of mind to practice my art

similar story with me but music. Wanted so badly to play guitar or bass in a death metal band. I practiced extremely hard. The reality is that its not a lucrative field, and that genre even less so. Tons of touring well known bands barely scraping by. Out of school i got into IT and stayed. That was 6 years before covid. IT people thrived during covid because of remote work, the music and creative industries got hit HARD. like really hard. I'm glad I made the decision I made.

As a freelance dancer/choreographer moving into content creation this is very true about the financial instability. I’m going back to working full time in September (cuz I used to work in schools) I need something stable to support my family and support my life style. Can’t buy camera equipment with no money. I left the industry after COVID but good luck to you. Stability is really everything in this field and especially how injury prone it is one medical bill without insurance can close the curtain. Take care of yourself first and keep going. It'll all work out.
Your filmmaking skills are so incredibly solid. Based on this video alone, you could absolutely make some short independent movies that would be great to watch. Your shot compositions, shot clarity, audio and lighting… it’s all there. Finding a team of reliable people to work with can be a hassle, yes, but if you can find a few, I’m sure you could put together some great looking projects. Keep doing your thing.

Love the honesty. I'm one of those that worked as a freelance creator for 5+ years, but have since gone back to a regular salary. The salary is great, the health and medical benefits are amazing and it's in a photo/video field which I like. I put my freelance stuff on the backburner and work them part time and weekends for extra cash. Grinded for 5 years, but with inflation I just wasn't making enough to pay all of the bills and put towards my retirement anymore. I'm 37, and I needed the financial security. I don't feel bad or ashamed for going back to a salary and I'm glad I spent those 5 years building a work ethic and knowledge that led to the new job. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be my own boss and make the money I make now with the salary, but my future is more important than my current desires. To each their own.

The car shot, in particular, was well done, as the angle made it appear as though you were talking to someone inside the car.
I noticed that the audio quality improved significantly after you worked on it. The car video was one of my favorites, but the basketball shots were outstanding.
The shot with the fog was stunning, and it could easily be used as a postcard. Your composition skills are excellent, and the addition of the bench and trees in the background was a nice touch.

The balance that you talk about hits home with me. I have a son that I do not want to miss his games or being with my family. So it’s good to hear that it’s not as easy as people may think or focus on views to make money bc that’s not the play.

WE MADE IT. Audio is on point. Very clean. Keep it. I'm also a Canon shooter and can appreciate the behind the scenes with the R5 C. I have both the R5 C and C70 and they are by far amazing tools to work with.
I think the lure of being a full time creator is unmatched in this current time in society. People only focus on the positives of what it can bring but you can only witness what downsides it brings when you actually live it day to day. The grind is absolutely real though and it’s much tougher than it looks. 6 years in and it’s crazy to keep up at the pace it’s at. It’s moving quicker than most people can catch up to and new levels are hit daily. I learned that not comparing myself to others and learning to balance family and content is the absolute key to success as a full time creator. There will always be someone better than you so go at your own unique pace. Great video and format.

At 14:00, when you asked what our first job was, you made me think about something I haven't thought about in years! I am graduating from Yale this spring as the first doctor in my family. Like you, I grew up watching my mom work extremely hard, and I always wished my parents could come to my school events, but they were always working. I say all of that because I am in the process of deciding what I want out of a career after graduation. I am both an artist and an academic, so the choice hasn't been easy. I don't want to deny any part of who I am in the process. I don't have kids yet, but when I do, I want to be present for them and not be consumed with work.
There is still a lot to process from this video, but I would just like to say that I am very grateful that you found the motivation to film and upload it. You definitely have a new fan! 🙏

When I was 12 or 13 I worked for my Dad - an aviation entrepreneur - over the Summer. My job was to sand the bellies of airplanes that were going to be painted. I was terrible at it. I had a terrible attitude about it. I remember my Dad telling me -half joking/half not that I was a terrible employee so I had better figure out what kind of business I was going to own. I think about it all the time. 30 years later, I've owned companies in multiple industries. I really struggle to imagine my life any other way. I even spent a couple of years at University of Central Florida as an adjunct professor where I created and taught a course on entrepreneurship. My goal with that course was to really expose my students to what the entrepreneurial life can look like, the good, the bad, and the reality. My focus was on bringing in entrepreneurs to share their stories. At the beginning of each semester, I would survey my students to get an idea as to the types of industries they thought they were interested in pursuing. One semester I had multiple students interested in chasing their dreams in the music industry as performers, so I brought in a local rapper to shed some light on his journey.

I think right now we are going through an evolution with TH-cam. We're seeing a lot of the last generation of creators slowly fading away as their viewership drops. The reality is that most of the successful verticals on YT have become oversaturated with creators trying to pull the same success as the OG creators. This is an exciting time where new creators will have there opportunity to do something new or different and stand out against the crowd. After finally going full time as a portrait and wedding photographer 4 years ago I’m back part time at a job I had in college 😂. It’s a really chill job honestly with people I know well, but it was definitely an ego hit. I’m struggling with the idea that I can make what I make in 4 days at this job with one portrait session, but some parts of the year like this one bookings are getting a little too rare and I can pay almost all of my bills with just this part time job. while this slow time is frustrating, having some guaranteed income has definitely taken pressure off my creative work and allowed me to think more clearly about it. The idea to actually do a project just for me crossed my mind for the first time in a while. 😅 Multiple sources of income is never bad, even if it's not what you expected. Do what you gotta do and make the most of everything. Great video man.

I appreciate your perspective on having a traditional job. Although my heart isn't in my traditional job, I've found a system on how to create over the years that helps me balance. Music has always been a huge part of what I do. It doesn't bring ME enough money to pursue full-time but it does afford me a sense of identity and freedom of creativity. This is a great take. I've spent 15+ years involved in making music and taking pictures. I've never made enough money to do either full time, always held down a 9 to 5. I feed myself with my day job, take my sense of self from my creative output. Not for everyone, but the balance of the two gives me everything I want.

Mario, Ouch ! that's really though . Good luck out there , mate. i think it works when 9-5 is at a super reduced capacity. take good care of your physical health and if you feel you could burn out , accept that it is ok to let yourself breathe . It is ok to stretch things out 2-3 years.
@@PHlophe Idk depends. I work reg during week and have photo projects on the weekend. Really easy If you good at your craft and actaully like it. Many just wanna content create to make money so it becomes a chore.

Aside from that, as a fellow (part-time) creator I wanted to humbly offer some feedback--your writing and delivery, composition and pacing for this video was great. Very authentic vibe and you told a lot of backstory with relatively few words. Showing your previous jobs while talking about them and then transitioning into your commentary on the creator economy was just so well done. My only critique is that the transition 1/3rd of the way through into a BTS and commentary on the video you just showed viewers felt unexpected and wasn't part of the thumbnail/title promise, which probably impacts retention and maybe how far this video gets recommended. Have you considered wrapping with a CTA to a separate BTS video for the people who got to the end and want to see more? I think that approach could maximize your reach on the story and still give the BTS deep-dive to the people who would've stuck around for it.
Honestly, you crushed it with this one: I could see the story 1/3rd of this one getting well into the 6 figure mark if uploaded alone, it's just such a strong setup, hook, and delivery. Well done, dude! 👏

One small piece of advice that I disagree with:
You ARE in-control of your success as a content creator, someone self-employed, etc.
The misconception for allot of people is that if they just do XYZ, and then get lucky, they'll blow up.
A plan dependent on luck is a bad plan.
If you're a content creator, you have to find out how to be the best at your craft.
One video a day, or one video a week, just might not cut it.
In the self-employed grind, there isn't really a work-life balance.
Its really grinding non-stop, you kill what you eat, so you plan to kill 24/7.
People tend to DREAM of the idea of working when they want, raking in money, etc.
For some, sure, it is lucky like that, they're talentless hacks raking in millions of dollars, but for many, its grinding non-stop for years, perfecting your craft, and being the best at what you do.
There is a reason Mr Beast is #1.
Sure, he got lucky too, but his endless grind, constant revisions, addiction to being the best, constant re-investment into his business. etc, is what truly got him there.
99% of people in his shoes would not do what he would do, and therefore they don't have his success.
The guy who blows up as an 'overnight success' has typically put in 5-10 years behind the scenes before they ever got noticed.
@serinadelmar6012 if that’s all you gathered then, you might want to run it back and pay closer attention.
Street performing for years taught me alot about how not only to capture an audience but to KEEP an audience. Transition that same approach into my filmmaking has worked well but I still learn constantly. Thats a crucial part.

REALLY glad the algorithm served me this video! My favorite shot was when all those birds flew over you at the lake, that was gold! I have an old Canon 5Dmkii, but I'm not using it because I don't have the tripod anymore and I'm just barely learning editing so I find it's easier to just learn the ropes on my phone right now, but I like this combo of cinematography and then Vlog style. It's best of both worlds! Keep it up! I made it to the end no problem.😊

I am not technically a creator on YT full time, but I do own a business and left my government job to start that business full time and I love it!
It would take a lot for me to go back to doing the 9-5 thing! Anyone seeing this comment, if you are working full time and have a goal of working for yourself, just start part time and as your side gig replaces your income keep moving toward it. Make sure you have 3 months atleast in savings.

4:37 something for salaried workers, particularly in senior positions is this upside of full time employment can cease to exist. There’s nothing to protect you from a slack message at 9:30 on a Saturday night to let you know something is now your problem and you better snap to to avoid the underside of a bus. One thing I now appreciate at a full time content creator is having no one in my life who can make me come into work (virtually) on a Saturday night
This right here for me as well. I was working a job in tech that was more or less 24x7 for years. Getting laid off and taking some time to collect myself and refocus helped me realize that my time is worth more than I was making based on how much I was giving up. I'm working on content creation and a degree now so that I can change fields if I do have to get back into salaried life.
I used to just stay broke bc I didn’t want a 9-5 but now that I do, all of my content is how it should be. I don’t take short cuts for money bc I have some. Praise God🙌

This administration is putting many families in difficult situations. A lot of people are financially struggling to live, put a roof over their head and put food on the table. Things are getting worse these days, if you don't find means of multiplying your money you might wake up a day to realize you didn't plan well for yourself and family.
I agree with you and I believe that Professionals are currently dominating the market since they have access to both the necessary strategy for making money in this industry...
