Mountain City, TN! A very nice place. Oh yes, I thoroughly remember the infamous switch! Sometimes, you were shouted the opportunity to go outside and pick your own, which would be used by the powers that be on you. In my parents' house, no rod was spared, and no child was spoiled! And, my siblings and I greatly respect that important policy, which we've gladly shared with the next generation who now share same with their own kids (who are very well behaved, mannered and a true joy to be around). "Make discipline, accountability, and consequences great again!" I truly enjoyed this video! Til the next time..... GOD bless!

When my dad told you to go get your own switch you better not come back with a wimpy one. If it wasn't good enough to suit him,he would wear it out on you then send you to get a better one.

The Steve Earle song "Copperhead Road" talks about this area and the moonshine running that occurred there. Copperhead Road actually exists, but has been renamed "Copperhead Hollow Road" because the road signs "Copperhead Road" kept getting stolen. Imagine that!

    Another great video.
I visited Mountain City a couple of weeks ago during my vacation in Ferguson, North Carolina. I spent around 3 hours at the combined Johnson County Welcome Center and Museum. Most of the time I was chatting with my friend, Jenny Johnson. One of the subjects we got around was the hanging og Finley Preston in 1905. He was hanged for the murder og Lillie Shaw in what provedmto be the last public execution in Tennessee.
Great that you showed the mural depicting the arrest of Tom Dooley in Pandora. TD is one of my big interests. 💖

The drive in was breathtaking with the mountains wrapping their arms around you. Lots to see and the people were so open and friendly. What a historic place. I think i will take the end slice of bread. As a child mother would toast the end piece and cover it with butter and cinnamon and hand it down to me. You know, there’s nothing better than a good sandwich and sharing a meal with Big T. Thank you for bringing us along . I enjoyed it every step of the way . God bless and keep you all your days.

We used to go every summer to see my grandparents and I would walk to town with a neighbor friend and stop and get some snacks and hang out. Those were the best days! 💕💕 Beautiful mountains surround this quaint town. I want to visit there again soon. And by the way, I got a whoppin’ too by my grandma with a switch, boy did it sting. 😮☺️

Excellent job with your presentation on my wife's hometown. Subscribed. FWIW, I've been trying since 2008 to eat at Suba's and have yet to sit at a table, and that is with many times having reservations and them cancelling for a host of reasons. I am of the opinion it is a private club masquerading as a public dining place. Nevertheless, ya did good, enjoyed it and subscribed.

Nice video. But there is alot more to the town than meets the eye. Yes on the surface it a nice little quite town. But there is alot more to it than that. There is alot of good and bad history here, but that is with any town. But hang around a few days and look around closely, and some things are going to start sticking out to you. One thing you will start to notice is the drug addicts walking the streets, and we also have a small homeless problem. Granted alot of the people are nice, we definately have some people that shouldn't be trusted. Heck we even have KKK members who live in this town. also there is a big problem with jobs. there is also a pretty bad job shortage in this town. one reason for this, is that alot of the towns folk refuse to let things into the town that can bring jobs, plus most of them do not pay a living wage. So alot of residents have to leave the town and travel 40min to an hour to find work. Do I like the town. Thats a yes and a no. Yes for the fact that for the most part its peacful, and no for the fact that its hard to live here due to job shortages and there is really not much to do around here. other than nature walks, the occational festival, and rodeo. This town has so much more potiental and I would love to see it florish. I am just hoping that it will.

LOCAL'S DELI is a MUST-STOP ... Oh, and I'm either a Chicken Salad on Croissant or a Tom/hold the bacon, please. Then it is awesome to just go on a walk-about around town, stopping here and there, walking off an awesome lunch and ending the day with amazing coffee at Know Better Coffee (I always park at Food Country because it's the last stop, after coffee, which is right down the little side street from the last brick bldg. on the right). That there is how directions are given around here and I'll take that over north/west/east/yonder.
Don't neglect those little side streets - it can be a real treasure hunt! #HomeMCTN

Thank you for this video, I've been watching a few of these's viedo's about TN. Mostly Johnson City area. I have family that live in Johnson City. And will be moving to Johnson City in the near future. The difference between this video and the others I've seen. Is that you folks, actually go into the stores and show around what's in the store. And give a little history about the store which is great. But I was wondering? Is there a fabric store in Johnson City, Tennessee ?? If there is I would very much be interested in seeing inside the fabric store and hearing about the history of the store. In a video. Because I like to quilt,is there a good quilting store to go to ? How far is this town from Johnson City, Tennessee? and does this town have a fabric store?
