    I made a turkey yesterday and followed your instructions and it was DELICIOUS, thank you for the helpful hints. I had never cooked a turkey on the grill before but it came out perfect. My 11.50 pound turkey took 2 hours to cook and I let it rest for quite a while before we cut into it and it was still nice and warm. Thank you so much!!

    Why didn't you put some kind of liquid into the pan for the moisture right at the beginning?

    • @a.barnard3205
      @a.barnard3205 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because moisture comes from the INSIDE of the bird, while it's COOKING and NOT the outside.
      What, you think every time it rains, YOU are going to become "moist" from the inside just because "moisture" is hitting you from the OUTSIDE?

  • @songslinger1
    @songslinger1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Why not start with water or stock in the pan to begin with? Seems to me that would help add moisture to the bird, which is so very desirable when cooking turkey, a notoriously dry bird.

    • @pepepez6335
      @pepepez6335 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Houston That theory has been debunked because what happens is the drippings form a layer of fat on top of the water which prevents it from evaporating

    • @go_to_isaac

      That's right... water inside of the kettle but not directly under the bird/roast. That is how you get moisture into it.

      The moisture comes from the INSIDE of a bird , NOT the outside.
      The only reason that turkey gets a rep as a "dry bird" is that cuckoos like YOU don't know HOW to cook a turkey, in the FIRST PLACE!
      If YOUR turkey is always "Dry" then it's YOUR fault!

    Great bird....but just like soaking wood chips, mopping the skin of any bird does NOTHING as skin is waterproof and stuff rolls right off adding zero. Next time try spritzing with a spray bottle. The liquid comes out in a heavy mist and adheres better and more evenly without the water molecules gathering up and getting too heavy to stay on. It truly works better....btw is that a 22.5" or a 26"? rock on Jimmy D!

    Y do I typically c men using the grill? I'm a woman and I like 2 grill with my dad sometimes. But never done a turkey & probably never will. But it looks like a nice fire 2 warm up while ur cooking the bird when it's chilly outside. Right?
