    This is the highest percentage for adult occupant protection since Euro NCAP changed its test for 2020 onwards. Before that, there was only ever 2 Mazdas, 2 Volvos, an Alfa (!) and the Model X that received more than 97% (in easier test setups) from Euro NCAP.

    • @asum307
      @asum307 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@djtaylorutube oooh, very nice!
      We didn't actually consider one at all outside a model 3 standard range we test drove late last year.
      About 4 weeks ago I got the chance to take delivery of standard range RWD model Y if I wanted one in a few weeks.
      My partner was unhappy with his 2022 XC60. So we thought "why not?". It arrived 12:30pm Monday just passed.
      We'd been driving it for everything since then then. We'd parked up our 2018 VW Arteon for those three days until last night. We got in and everything felt dated. My partner mentioned how much he thought it felt like he was stepping back into a car from the early 2000s in comparison. Ha!
      We charged it at a charger and cost us $7.51. The following 2 nights I charged it at home and it was $4.00 and then $4.14.
      All up we've done about 600ish Kilometers for $16! It would have cost $97 to do the same in our Arteon.
      I don't really care for the planet saving aspect of things, since there's a lot to compare. But when savings like that are presented it's hard to pass up!

    • @djtaylorutube
      @djtaylorutube 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@asum307 Yes it's interesting, I'm no Tesla fanboy, in fact we tried a Kia EV6 (love the styling but banged my head on the low rear roofline getting in the back and the headrest kept bumping the back of my head.) Delivery was also LONG. Tried the Hyundai ioniq 5, it just didn't inspire and we said we should at least try a Tesla 3. Didn't get on with that at all, our need is for hatchback, grandchildren etc. I couldn't get my feet under the front seats when sitting in the back and it was just a saloon car, didn't solve any problems.
      We waited and then one day thought we'd take a look at the Model Y and although it's just a taller Model 3, the problems that previously blocked is weren't there.
      My other reasons for going Tesla though was that I factored in Tesla development level Vs others who are still catching up, they roll out OTA update whereas Kia EV6, you got what you got unless the garage does any updates and finally, I give charging infrastructure to Tesla and we'd previously had a Nissan Leaf and gave up with the idea of public charging.
      Always spare capacity at Tesla superchargers when we see them.
      Looking forward to it, it has been quite a wait for this one too. Glad you're enjoying yours 😊

Also if we make all the tests occur at higher speeds, it may mean the vehicle is less crash worthy at lower speeds because the structure is too rigid and doesn’t absorb the energy. The front passenger airbag inflated for an empty seat in the side pole test. I think this car is supposed to have an automatic passenger airbag cutoff so the passenger airbag never inflates for below a certain amount of weight, a very valuable safety feature especially for children. Does the EU-spec Model Y have a manual shutoff that was activated for the full frontal but not the side pole, or is this a failure of the airbag mechanism?
