I’m not sure if there’s a better channel out there that makes you feel like you’re in the cabin and not just watching a video. Whatever you guys are doing to capture the exhaust sound is otherworldly.
This is the only car channel I watch religiously. Not just because I'm also from the same area in IL as Jack/Mark, but because this is the only channel that invokes FEELING. I cannot overstate how important that intangible aspect is. However, it's extremely difficult to do without being obnoxious. These guys just get it right.
These guys and Jason from Haggerty are my go to. Great mix of comedy, information and when it comes to special cars like this, just letting the engine do the talking.

I watch savagegeese and Haggerty religiously as well, but throttle house is my personal favourite, though they're closely followed by savagegeese. Their comedy sketches at the start of many of their episodes are usually hilarious

Mark is right - it's a toy for someone with the means for track time. I was just at the Nurburgring. Seeing and hearing GT4RSs and GT3s on track is a memorable experience.

I love my GT4RS. Long time track day junkie, raced karts and Formula Fords in the 80s and 90s. There’s nothing like the GT4RS. Is it perfect? No. But it’s perfect for me.
I was fortunate enough to drive two laps in the Cayman GT4 RS Weissach at the Nurburgring Nordschleife last month. I've never had a religious experience with a car but this was close.
Such an excellent presentation and summary. Starting with the driving, the steering feel and some of the most relevant comparison vehicles. Then going to the shop. Even included a frequency spectrum capture of the engine sound. Love it. Thank you!
I just don't understand how this channel is still hovering just over half a million subscribers. The production value and video quality is light years ahead of (lets be honest) pretty much all the other car review channels with double, triple and even more subscribers. It's pretty baffling to me and I've often wondered if it's the name of the channel that has a disconnect in peoples minds with a car channel. Whatever it is, these guys should be in the multiple millions by now. I catch myself watching videos about cars I have no interest in simply for the art and editing behind them. Keep up the great work guys! You deserve more in my eyes.

Just curious if you’ve experienced it in real life, obviously they sound totally different as @aaronmcconkey1062 pointed out the are different style engines. I was just saying the C8Z sounds great but from inside the car it mostly has a sport bike high strung 4-cylinder type sound, where the GT4 RS was constantly changing and then went full race car the last 1,000RPM before redline. The C8Z wins the outside exhaust note by a mile though, especially the upshift cracks 👍🏻
Man that engine is SCREAMING in a goosebump-giving way when wrung out. The drone when holding a slower steady pace sounds like/reminds me of when I had a broken muffler in my CRX Si. It started out just a little loud, but as the hole got bigger (had corrosion underneath) it turned into one of the loudest exhaust sounds I'd ever heard, at just the rev range I held it at on the freeway. It was tolerably loud overall but It was like it hit the resonant frequency at that range which gave it a multiplier and it absolutely destroyed your eardrums. Made everything vibrate. It was amazing and gave me the giggles at first, but then I started getting headaches on my way to college in the morning and the muffler had to go. Got a nice full exhaust while I was at it.
That segment early on with a professional driver on a closed course out in the fields was sick. The look on the face of the ape driving was priceless, second only to the look of the proud papa in the passenger seat!
2007 the Porsche Cayman came out with its 2.7 flat six engine producing 245hp and 201 ft/lbs torque. And now this. A Cayman GT4 RS with the GT3 engine and transmission, producing 490hp. The ultimate sports car. It's taken 16 years, but the Cayman has evolved and come a long way.
guys, when you talked about how riding in that car shuts up your passenger, that made me laugh. I have a 2006 Cayman S. inaugural model. I went up to the feather River canyon road this morning which is one of the best driving roads in California. 20 mi of canyon run one way. then 20 mi back. it was extraordinary. I am sure the GT4 is the ultimate expression of this model but this morning I didn't care that I had just a 987S. it was brilliant.
The engine drone at normal speeds is WAY louder than what’s caught on camera. It’s no joke. Next time do an unedited hour long live stream from that car, to really capture how this car is like to drive.
I know this car doesn't have the GT3 level of adjustability but it's still pretty nuts what it can do. Adjustable diffusers under the car isn't something you see even in proper sports cars!

1) This car is absolutely incredible to witness. I've been to more than a few races with 991 and 992 GT3 cars and they are unbelievably loud and quick. Maybe louder than a NASCAR cup car, and approaching the neighbourhood of the Mazda 787b...but they don't have this godly sound when the car is up in the revs. 2) HOLY HELL THAT IS LOUD FOR A STREET CAR! You'd have to either be on the Cannonball Run or a complete masochist to drive this thing on the streets!
I dont think it aligns with your values, but if you guys did a turbo/supercharged miata review and compared it to some of the expensive and fast cars youve done, that would be really interesting. Just a one-off, special video that investigates if you can get supercar fun from a modified and easily attainable car.
In case you don't know some of the earliest videos are about Mark's supercharged FRS. I'd watch those videos to understand his thoughts on taking that route.

When you guys downshift, it sounds like you guys tap the gas pedal and the revs goes up for about a split second before coming back down? Not sure how to explain that, but does the car just make that sound on its own or do you guys actually press on the pedal for a split second when you down shift to get that sound? 1:34 is the first time it happens in the video on the pov track but there's a lot of it through out the video. Just curious on how you guys do that since I don't have a car with paddle shifters or even a manual shifting mode in my truck.
I think it's a combo of the constant/immediate slowdown of the car and the probably increased internal friction / air pressure activity during shifts, i.e. maybe it's not or not only revving higher for a moment, but it seems like that because it is running louder for a moment.
Amazing vehicle, but price and focus make it complete unobtanium to anyone but the 100 people who can afford it with another car to daily and know how to drive it. Thanks for this video. Tons of fun and great info as always.

I own all three new GT cars because I couldn't choose. GT4 RS, 992 GT3 (manual, which makes it more fun and demanding to drive than PDK), and the new 992 GT3 RS. I also own the 992 GT3 Cup car. There is something raw about the GT4 RS. You can see them all on my channel.

They kept the valves open to prove a point. It’s fairly docile and plenty quiet to talk to your passenger when cruising in 7th with valves closed.

That's called auto rev matching, definitely won't be found in typical trucks.
