When you put the 458 in Race mode without Bumpy Road, it's pretty firm as well. But it's not a race car for the road like the GT4RS is. It's a supercar that 14 years later still looks, sounds, and performs amazing. That's why it gets all the attention, especially in its proper color: Rosso Corsa. Thanks for the review!
Bro, this format rocks. Brings me back to my early enthusiast days when I would do this kind of chart to compare cars I looking to buy. Look forward to the next one, suggestion 718 GT4 vs Emira
You’ve just explained the dilemma of owning a Porsche. Nothing else can compare. The Ferrari only makes sense when you already have a GT4RS to quench your driver thirst. By the way, sound comparison is key for me. Great video bro!
My categories regards sportcars: 1.Handling 2.Sound 3.Looks..the RS is a clear Winner beside the look. Even i always liked the 458. It’s a great package especially as a spider.
Spot on video. Loved the format. I’m in the market for a 458/488 and GT4RS. Tried them all… can’t decide. Was the GT4RS exhaust stock??? Here in Europe we get the particle filter so don’t know about the US.
Coming from someone who has Porsches and an RS among them, being totally objective, the Porsche can never match Ferraris for looks and street cred. The Ferrari is all about “look at me” and it’s a wonderful showboat but some of us aren’t looking for that. I love Porsches for just how good they are all round. The PDK is a work of genius. At the end of the day, how can you go wrong with either marque
Great vid and love the new format. It’s more organized and I like the grading system. Not a coincidence but these were my 2 choices as well, ended up with the 4RS. The bottom line was I love track days and the 4RS is better for that than the 458. In a perfect world, I’d have both, but no room in the garage for another car unless I trade my 981 Cayman S that’s a fantastic daily (I put 15,000 miles a year on it) in for another relatively impractical vehicle I can’t really daily and freak out over door dings or worry about in a downtown parking garage on a Saturday night.
I have to say, I tried the 458 italia on track and a gt3 991 the same day, I am a Ferrari guy and tbh I don’t like people owning a Porsche … it’s just a stereotype but IRL unfortunately it is true ! But trying Porsche and Ferrari the same day on track .. man the difference is huge .. if somebody drives motorcycles driving a Porsche is like driving a 4 wheel sports bike … it’s just crazy .. the feedback, the balance … it’s fucking crazy ! I fell in love with Porsche GT since then and that’s what I’m buying … but when it comes to Ferrari .. 458 italia by experience is THE BEST FERRARI you can buy, forget the new stuff, it’s about the experience … for anybody reading me .. try cars before buying .. it changes A LOT
I like the review format. Would like to see your review of other track focused supercars like the speciale, performante or pista to see how they compare to the GT4RS. I'll be looking for a more hardcore car next to go along side the 458 Italia and I'm leaning towards a performante or a pista (if they keep dropping).
Perf or Pista are great. I’ve thought about that acquisition many times haha. Make sure you pay attention to the 765 as well. It makes those other two seem ordinary.
@@MiamiMiles being British you'd think I'd be more interested in McLaren 😂 and I was, before my bro got a 570s, and I was a bit disappointed by the interior, the sound, and the low down torque. I prefer almost everything about the 458, and feels more roomier and special inside. Maybe I'll check out 765lt though 👍
Great review and makes prefect sense to me! I absolutely LOVE my GT4 RS both on and off the track. My wife much prefers a softer more comfortable and quite ride. A buddie and I swapped cars the other day and I put some miles on his McLaren Artura. Very sexy, like any McLaren, and extremely quick. What it lacked was the raw excitement of my 4 RS. The 4 RS is just bonkers to drive when you push it and feels so damn planted. It just gives you confidence, particularly on track. I love it. Also was lucky enough to pick it up for MSRP so very fortunate. After a bunch of extra carbon, a roll cage, belts etc, "only" into it for roughly $225,000. After watching your clips and following others GT4 RS owners, might need a SOUL exhaust. At least the over axle. I'm sure it's in your clips somewhere but what set up do you have for the exhaust on your 4RS? Sounds sick..
Headers, catted OAP’s and valved rear. Best investment I’ve ever made. If you think the car is exciting stock, wait til you add 15% more power and 25% more midrange punch. It is unbelievable
@@MiamiMiles nice and great to know! Going to Kelly Moss for a track alignment in a couple of weeks. Might say fuck it and follow your lead. 😂🤷🏼♂️🏁 After I made that initial comment, I watched the full Soul GT4 RS exhaust option vid you posted. Super helpful! Thx man.
Nice video. Both great cars and similar is some ways with the N/A engines. You cannot choose between the two, as they are so different. In addition, the Ferrari is very sensitive to mileage. So ideally you want both. In terms of looks, the GT4 RS you feature here is not in a very exciting colour. A GT4 RS in a PTS colour really stands out. Bumpy road setting in the 458 makes it a great daily driver and sets it apart from the GT4 RS!!
Agree 100%… you need both. I ended up swapping the 458 for an 812. Much better… especially with an exhaust. I wasn’t in love with GT silver on the 4RS so you’re on point with that. I might have something coming in a special PTS color…. 😁 Side note, love your videos. Watched 2 of them yesterday haha. Thanks for taking the time to comment here
I enjoyed your video. I own a 4RS and do think it's an incredible car! Although for date night I would have given it a 2/10. I have always considered adding a 458. Interesting to hear that the 4RS maybe more of a visceral drive.
4RS is a dream car, just as much of The CGT, both porsche's peak engineering and musical symphony on the road, truely both end of an era in both design and exciting exhilarating performance. More smiles per gallon of gas indeed!
Porsche there is no substitutes! I have a 2011 Porsche cayenne Turbo, and its my baby. Thank you for your non-biased opinion a true owner of both brands.
The 458 Italia is a perfect sports car and daily. The GT4 RS is a more a race car then a sports car! HARDER, FASTER, LOUDER! When you drive over a coin you feel which side was up side 😉. Another big thing are the most extreme downshifts ever heard with zero delay!
What's interesting is when you actually get to the stage where you can afford either (one of them only) a Porsche or a Ferrari and use it as a daily drive, have a few track days etc... then there's only one option - one will do it all in it's stride and you'll just have to worry about normal maintenance, the other will give you a constant fear that it's going to get very expensive at some point and it's not worth the fuss.
458 Next car Im getting Def the dream car when i was a kid. That thing is sick!! cant wait to scoop it this year and drive it around miami as well. What do you think. Getting traditional vs spider? Was thinking spider to be able to drive it down with the gorgeous miami weather we get
For long term investment though, the 458 has long stopped depreciating and will likely only go up. If you buy one now, you'll likely make money reselling it 1, 10, or 20 years from now. Whereas the GT4RS price will depreciate and you'll lose money selling it 1 or 10 years from now. It may take 20 or more years before it gets even close to the price you bought it for.
@@briansnow2001 Of course they do. Porsche are still making the 4RS. You can pick up a used one for $70k less than people were paying a year ago. Anyone who paid overs for a 4RS must be feeling it.

Some people see Ferrari as Hermes. After they claim they worked hard for their money they would still want to spend it on something imperfect; and that is sometimes what a Ferrari is. Some people see Ferrari as the hit brand, but sometimes other brands do better. A GT product from Porsche would sometimes make a Ferrari seem like the money spent on the Ferrari is payment to own a portion of brand hype; meanwhile some people want a flawless and stellar product. Almost completely arbitrary weighting to classes for scores. e.g.- date night isn’t as important as performance- why are they both 10s? This exercise didn’t make sense.
I’m not sure where you get the fractional rating system from? Just go with whole number. That makes you more authentic. Your current system looks a bit pretentious
I went fractional because I made a mock spreadsheet with all the cars I had driven. I noticed that there was too much overlap in ratings and no way to further way to differentiate two cars that were very close. Not pretentious, just trying to be specific.
For date night, after the date; wifey would tell her friends of how her husband's car was tested in Germany and they would want to go there for a holiday.
458 sounds amazing. That 4RS sounds like crap outside, based on stationary reving, anyway. Personal opinion. The magic sound is on the inside. But I’d take a spyder rs, fo sho. But then the 458 is 10 years old, and it’s still in the conversation. Kudos Ferrari.
Agreed… 4RS from outside when rolling sounds insane. I think because this car doesn’t have a valve controller, when reviving stationary, it stays in the valved close path as it never exceeds 4k RPM. When you unleash it to 8-9k it sounds like a proper GT Car. Also, the fact that the Ferrari made it so close is indeed a huge accomplishment for 10 years later. Just incredible
Would have been a great video if you had simply omitted your opinion about appearance. I’m 💯 team Italia however I think that this point should be left up to the viewer.
@@MiamiMiles defo. My GT4 almost has zero appeal to my wife...just complains about the bucket seats and the noise She does like the Shark Blue colour though.
The thing about Porsche is you don't really have to worry about them draining your bank account while refusing to turn on. Nothing can really sate the lust for a Ferrari, but unless you have piles of cash to burn... 🤷♂
I don't find modern Porsches to be all that good looking; that goes for the GT4 RS. Might be fast but it's rather bland to me. Not good, not bad. Like just OK.
Yeah 458 all The way. Sound better. Value better. Cache way better. I own 3 Porsches. People don’t know you car from a basic Porsche. But, they all know Ferrari. Sorry boys. They are not that close and future values will be shown. Trying to make yourself feel better. lol

I went fractional because I made a mock spreadsheet with all the cars I had driven. I noticed that there was too much overlap in ratings and no way to further way to differentiate two cars that were very close. Not pretentious, just trying to be specific.
street 458 - track 4rs
For date night, after the date; wifey would tell her friends of how her husband's car was tested in Germany and they would want to go there for a holiday.
Sounds like my wife
For that price range, the gallardo perfomante is the best option
Great option. Much more old school than these, but you can’t go wrong with that lambo
And now the value of GT4RS is dropping faster than my 458 keys to the ground
True... The values have been destroyed
Incredible video!!! My fiance agrees with you
458 sounds amazing.
First comment... love your work man
Appreciate you for being first 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Would have been a great video if you had simply omitted your opinion about appearance. I’m 💯 team Italia however I think that this point should be left up to the viewer.
@@gregorythomas4470 fair point
It's pretty crazy how the 5th fastest Porsche is faster than a Ferrari 458.
But its not in reality. Go look at the times. Still, the 458 is 12 years old. Take the slowest new Ferrari and see what happens.
regarding the engine of the 458, you should listen and feel the F12...
Haven’t driven the F12. Had extensive time in 812. Couldn’t agree more about the V12
Deciding between gt4 rs and ferrari will be the hardest decision i ever made.
4RS for excitement
Comes down to whether you want to pick up guys on South Beach or girls lol
That should be the category. Gonna get you more dudes or girls on south beach 😂
@@MiamiMiles defo. My GT4 almost has zero appeal to my wife...just complains about the bucket seats and the noise She does like the Shark Blue colour though.
A new Porsche against a14 year older Ferrari and the total point difference is 0.1? Porsche has a long way to go to match Ferrari.
That was Ferrari pinnacle though. I don't like the new ones besides 812
How tall are you? It seems like you’re pretty close to both wheels.
Just over 6’0
@@MiamiMiles Figured you were about 6’2
all things after purchase being equal then 458 for sure
Not a bad choice 😉
The thing about Porsche is you don't really have to worry about them draining your bank account while refusing to turn on. Nothing can really sate the lust for a Ferrari, but unless you have piles of cash to burn... 🤷♂
Facts
I don't find modern Porsches to be all that good looking; that goes for the GT4 RS. Might be fast but it's rather bland to me. Not good, not bad. Like just OK.
Agreed
Looks are “subjective”! You may find beauty were others find fugly 😂
Agreed. Can't debate this comment
Apparently aliens do exist. Because you obviously are on another planet. This this earth and everyone on earth would take a 458 over a poor man's 911
Drive them both before making comments 😁
Red interior is a major L
Always the Ferrari
Awesome content bro. The question is, which one would get you the most ass :D
458… sounds like an epic category for the next review 😂
I owned cayman gts2.5 and a 488gtb.. i prefer the gts more in terms of handling , driving experience.
488gtb looks good and sounds great
I ❤Porsche ❤❤❤
Me too 😍
I own 458 now
And book 4rs
I might keep 4rs
Good choice 😃
@@MiamiMiles thx bro
Ferrari desperately needs BBS’s
That and it needs to be lowered IMO
458 is mine
👍👍👍👍
📈📈
Yeah 458 all
The way. Sound better. Value better. Cache way better. I own 3 Porsches. People don’t know you car from a basic Porsche. But, they all know Ferrari. Sorry boys. They are not that close and future values will be shown. Trying to make yourself feel better. lol
All true
Bolsters up the crack 😂
Literally a pain in the ass
