i wouldn’t use the super tech valve stem seals. i’d go oem. the super tech kit ones don’t seal properly from experience and from what i’ve read on forums. they don’t account for the different sizes of the intake and exhaust valves
I used Felpros, and they're just fine. Even my dried out oems didn't leak. Flying Miata tends to convince you everything is bad , except what they sell for 2x as much.
Great content! I'm going to need to overhaul my stock 1.6 miata engine. I'm thinking to take advantage of that and do some upgrading, not going crazy. I'm planning to keep it aspirated, any advice of how to start? I don't have knowledge in mechanics i'm just an youtube watcher enthusiast :D
You've got the first step to being a mechanic down, watching youtube 😂 that's how all of is learn now if you don't personally know someone to teach you. I highly recommend a video by napp motorsports of his miata engine disassembly and build. It will tell you everything you need to know. Just take a harbor freight trip for any tools you don't have and prepare to go to autozone at least 4 times throughout the process. Be patient and plan out your budget. Don't let things go crazy if you're keeping it NA. I highly recommend boosting your car though. Miatas are one of the best cars for DIY boosting and keeping reliable. Also the most documented. I do respect a nice naturally aspirated build though. Something that would give a little more pep is high compression pistons and a standalone plug and play ECU like a speedyefi. That will give you all sorts of goodies including spark pat tuning, fuel tuning, launch control, flat foot shifting, flames for the fun, etc
@@revreign thank you so much! I’m going to think about boosting it. I’m outside US (Costa Rica) so getting stuff is basically importing parts from US, so I will follow your advice and try to have a good planning.
hey man take note of somthing. there is a difference between a 1.6 waterpump and a 1.8 waterpump the 1.8 pump the bolt holes for the belt tensioner and idler is cloer together then the 1.6 if you try to do the timing on your engine and the tensioner stays far left when there is no slack its the wrong pump happend to me before and the belt was ruined after 5000km
Bro I just found you channel, you are doing an amazing job! Hope you get bigger soon
might I suggest a set of Spark Plugs ?
BOSCH PLATINUM+4 part number 4418

@@scottr3141depends if you have a 1.6 or 1.8. the 1.8 has different size seals on the exhaust and intake valves

Have you decided what transmission you’re going to use?
Hey man I’m about to build mine! First Mazda motor but I work at a speed shop building lsx motors

That DNJ front main is going to leak. at least mine had a noticeable gap when I installed it
That's crazy how a budget built 4 cylinder is like half the price of a budget built 8 cylinder.
I'm just doing a budget forged rebuild, and prices for Miata parts are extremely inflated.
Bro I swear. Feels like the prices for parts just shot way up
thanks
